00:00Florida has become the first state to sue OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman,
00:05alleging the company's tools stoke violence and self-harm.
00:09Sunshine State AG James Uffmeyer filed the civil suit Monday,
00:13alleging that the chat GPT bot causes, quote,
00:16danger of addiction, cognitive decline, suicide, violence, and related harms.
00:22The lawsuit states OpenAI pushed out a product it knew could harm users,
00:27citing the alleged use of chat GPT in the planning of a mass shooting at Florida State University last year
00:33and the killing of two graduate students at the University of South Florida in April.
