00:00:01Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:43Good evening. Five games on the way this evening and only three weekends remain in the Premier League season.
00:00:49It's the final sprint towards the finish line. Always up to speed, of course, Wayne Rooney and Ashley Williams.
00:00:55League leaders Arsenal play tomorrow. They began the day with a five-point advantage at the top, having played a
00:01:00game more than second-place Manchester City.
00:01:03Pep Guardiola's side faced Europe chasing Brentford this evening on the back of something of an epic at Everton on
00:01:09Monday.
00:01:11Pep Guardiola's team hoping to narrow the gap at the top to three points.
00:01:16This could be a big night in the title race.
00:01:19Dukku. That's the call for Manchester City!
00:01:28Oh, Gay completely switches off. Gino Barry does his bit.
00:01:35Jake O'Brien! Everton have turned it around!
00:01:42And Erling Haaland gets one back!
00:01:47Jeremy Dukku rescues a point for Manchester City!
00:01:55Your commentator at the Etihad is Guy Mowry.
00:02:00A late equaliser usually feels like a point gain but not in Manchester City's case on Monday, having lost the
00:02:08lead and any notion of having an advantage in the title race.
00:02:12It feels now like only a mistake-free run to the finish will keep them in with a shout.
00:02:17And the team setting out to start that run today shows two changes from the draw at Everton, with Dutch
00:02:23duo Nathan Ake and Tijani Reinders coming in, replacing Kusunov, who's got a knock, and Nico Gonzalez back to the
00:02:30bench.
00:02:31Two changes to the Brentford team as well, as they chase a European place for the first time ever, and
00:02:37maybe even a spot in the Champions League.
00:02:40Aaron Hickey and Christopher Iyer come in for Seb Vandenberg and Dango Watara.
00:02:48Five minutes played, and Andy Morrison's name is being sung by Manchester City fans.
00:02:55Their former captain has been diagnosed with Ramsey-Hunt syndrome, it's a virus in the facial nerve.
00:03:01He was the man who wore number five in that famous 1999 playoff final against Gillingham.
00:03:07All that Wembley drama, fondly remembered and still loved here.
00:03:13Ake, had to stretch for it, stretched enough to make it a throw-in rather than a corner.
00:03:25Donnarumma doesn't get there, he's struggling, and it's cleared away by Mateus Nunes.
00:03:31Donnarumma appealing for a foul, nobody listening to him.
00:03:38He's the only sort of foul on Donnarumma there.
00:03:42Igor Thiago is just a big presence in front of him.
00:03:46Doesn't have to get out of the way just because the goalkeeper wants him to.
00:03:56Igor Thiago with a touch on for Shada.
00:03:59Now there's a race on, and Mateus Nunes takes the ball.
00:04:02Brentford are adamant that he took the ball by foul means.
00:04:06And VAR are in operation.
00:04:09They took the ball.
00:04:11That's the VAR's opinion.
00:04:13The collision with Shada happened afterwards.
00:04:22He really senses his chance here, and he has forced Doku off balance.
00:04:26Think it was just a slip there.
00:04:27It is going to be a corner.
00:04:30And the corner will be taken quick and short.
00:04:36Doku, with a shimmy past Jensen, and a touch towards Haaland.
00:04:41It's blocked.
00:04:42It's Gehi trying to get to it.
00:04:43And Kelleher then gathers the ball.
00:04:46The City threat is rising.
00:04:48Doku's in the midst of most of it.
00:04:51Haaland is starting to get more and more involved by the minute.
00:04:56Doku, with a lift through to Bernardo Silva.
00:04:59Jensen back to challenge him.
00:05:01And this one rolls behind four.
00:05:04Once given this time, the referee's frantically blowing away on his whistle.
00:05:08Bernardo Silva trying to get to the ball.
00:05:10Stopped from doing so.
00:05:11And a little bit of afters between Bernardo Silva and Nathan Collins.
00:05:17Bernardo Silva gets the yellow card, which is his tenth of the season.
00:05:22He's past the threshold, isn't he?
00:05:29Well, Manchester City have to hit the ground running.
00:05:32This is a big 45 minutes.
00:05:36Coyote.
00:05:38Through for Igor Thiago.
00:05:40Igor Thiago through on goal.
00:05:42Gehi now gets in his way, and Donnarumma gets in the way of the shot.
00:05:47Important take.
00:05:49The Premier League's second most lethal marksman was in for Brentford.
00:05:54And Brentford got in really simply.
00:05:58Donnarumma sharply down, and Gehi regained his composure to put it behind.
00:06:11It's not rocking and rolling, is it?
00:06:13Not at all.
00:06:16Too used to it?
00:06:18Expecting it?
00:06:19Don't know.
00:06:21Reinders.
00:06:23Doku.
00:06:29Doku.
00:06:31Just invited Hickey to get there first for Brentford, and he did.
00:06:34It's going to be a corner.
00:06:37Tajani Reinders is going off, and I think Ryan Shirky, he's going to see his number on the board as
00:06:42well.
00:06:42And on will come Omar Mahmouche and Phil Foden.
00:06:54Foden has scored seven goals in nine previous games against Brentford.
00:06:58Here's Doku.
00:07:00Here's Doku.
00:07:00He's gone for it again.
00:07:01He's done it again.
00:07:04It's a repeat show from Jeremy Doku.
00:07:08All eyes were on the touchline with the substitutions being made.
00:07:12As soon as they were on the field, the corner was taken.
00:07:16and Doku hasn't half relieved the atmosphere in here
00:07:22and that's the sort of view he's been looking for all game
00:07:25he loves that view
00:07:26he loves that goal
00:07:28we've seen it a few times now
00:07:30more than once in the last few weeks
00:07:35they needed that
00:07:38goodness they needed that
00:07:42Tara
00:07:46played through beautifully to Igor Thiago
00:07:48Igor Thiago's touch
00:07:50down goes Shada in the box
00:07:51he's at him and he was pushed
00:07:55Mateus Nunes
00:07:56plays it against Jamal Jupp
00:07:58but it will be a VAR check
00:08:00and this is a really important one
00:08:02for Manchester City, for Brentford
00:08:05for Arsenal
00:08:06first thing to be looked at will be
00:08:08the offside potentially
00:08:09Igor Thiago
00:08:10and then was there a push on Shada
00:08:13that's what this is about ultimately
00:08:15well the check's over
00:08:16there will be no breath for penalty
00:08:18just a bit of jostling between the two
00:08:21and not enough to constitute
00:08:22a push on the back of Kevin Shada
00:08:24that's how the ref saw it in real time
00:08:26and that's how VAR has seen it
00:08:28having another look
00:08:33Bernardo Silva
00:08:38Semenyo
00:08:43Semenyo
00:08:44builds up a head of steam here
00:08:45called the cross for Haaland
00:08:47he can't finish first time
00:08:49he can second
00:08:51a different sort of earning Haaland goal
00:08:57and a different sort of feeling of relief
00:08:59from the first goal
00:09:01and City do now seem to be on their way
00:09:03to the three points
00:09:05that were an absolute
00:09:07cast iron must
00:09:09Walling Haaland has now scored
00:09:11in four successive
00:09:13Premier League games
00:09:14can't recall him
00:09:15netting too many times
00:09:17like this before
00:09:18if ever
00:09:18Manchester City
00:09:20two
00:09:20Brentford
00:09:21nil
00:09:24another silver
00:09:26Mamouche
00:09:28Foden
00:09:29nicely shifted from boot to boot
00:09:35Doku
00:09:38Doku
00:09:38Doku across to Foden
00:09:39what a save that is from Gellagher
00:09:43razor sharp
00:09:44Bill Foden
00:09:45thought his long wait for his next goal was over
00:09:48he was sharp too with the attempt to score
00:09:51what about that
00:09:53strong arm from Gellagher
00:09:55Manchester City have played their best football since going 1-0 up
00:09:59just seemed to shake all the cobwebs from them
00:10:02calm everything down
00:10:04he started to actually play rather than be swamped by what it all meant today
00:10:10Bernardo Silva
00:10:12he's trying to prompt City to push forward to the end
00:10:14knowing that goals could be a factor right at the end of the season
00:10:18here's Haaland
00:10:20Haaland through to Mamouche
00:10:22and Mamouche has taken that beautifully
00:10:26and that's what Bernardo Silva's been insisting
00:10:29upon for the last few minutes
00:10:31revving them up for more
00:10:33you never know
00:10:34one more at the end of the season could make all the difference
00:10:39Mamouche has found game time
00:10:41really difficult to come by in the last few weeks and months
00:10:44but you wouldn't know it by the way he puts this in
00:10:47that's clinical
00:10:49and another assist for Erling Haaland
00:10:51we talk a lot about his goals
00:10:53well that's eight that he's made in the Premier League this season as well
00:10:58Semenyo's poke
00:10:59only to Lewis Potter
00:11:00Henderson
00:11:10taken by Watara
00:11:11he got Thiago
00:11:13it's saved by Donnarumma
00:11:16again
00:11:17academic in terms of today's points
00:11:19could mean something at the end of the season in terms of goal difference
00:11:26Manchester City get the result that they absolutely had to this evening
00:11:30for Brentford a real blow
00:11:33to their hopes of getting into Europe for the first time in the club's history
00:11:36they'll go again next week with two to play
00:11:39City play Palace on Wednesday night
00:11:42the first of three that they've got left
00:11:45as the chase of Arsenal goes on
00:11:49in the first half we arrived a lot in the final third like what happened against Everton
00:11:54but we didn't have enough players there in the second half we have enough players there
00:11:58to score a goal is not to be a genius
00:12:00it has to bring players close to Erling
00:12:02you know
00:12:03and Omari scored because Erling and Phil Foden was close to Erling in the second half
00:12:07that's why we create the sense of more goals
00:12:09so Erling is there
00:12:11Omari is there
00:12:11and create a little bit doubts for the defenders
00:12:14otherwise as Erling alone
00:12:15against three central defenders it's impossible to score a goal
00:12:18we know that we had to score
00:12:20er and when we scored a goal
00:12:22obviously then there was more space
00:12:23and then we scored the second goal
00:12:25and we were a bit relieved
00:12:26er happy
00:12:28could've should've had a penalty
00:12:29key moment
00:12:30I've looked at it three or four times
00:12:32there's no way Kevin would go down
00:12:34and
00:12:35the comment that was made was
00:12:37er there wasn't enough contact
00:12:39but when he's
00:12:40Kevin's one of the quickest players in the league
00:12:42and when he's moving at such speed
00:12:44it's only going to take a little bit of contact
00:12:46he's got the goal gaping
00:12:47erm
00:12:49so for me that one is a penalty
00:12:51and the gap is down to two points again
00:12:53over to Arsenal
00:12:54what do you do tomorrow
00:12:55do you watch it follow it
00:12:57going golfing
00:12:57well training
00:12:58I have my sister here
00:12:59so we'll see
00:13:00but yeah
00:13:01yeah my whole night I'll watch it yeah
00:13:03we all will Pep
00:13:04we all will
00:13:04er it really was Wayne
00:13:06the docushow again today
00:13:07wasn't it
00:13:07he's stepped up as
00:13:09good and big players do
00:13:10when their teams need them
00:13:11he has
00:13:12and I think over the last few weeks
00:13:14he's been
00:13:15incredible really
00:13:16and
00:13:16he's run of form
00:13:17and his goals
00:13:18he's scored the chance he's created
00:13:19you see this
00:13:20this first goal against Everton
00:13:21cutting inside on his left foot
00:13:23whipping in the
00:13:24the far corner
00:13:25and again here
00:13:26hanging out in the back of the space
00:13:28and then
00:13:29no hesitation
00:13:30gets the ball
00:13:31cutting inside
00:13:32and
00:13:32it's a great finish
00:13:33and today
00:13:34he was an absolute nightmare
00:13:35for the Brentford defenders
00:13:37he couldn't deal with him
00:13:38he was direct
00:13:39he was positive
00:13:40but with quality
00:13:42which sometimes
00:13:42he has lacked at times
00:13:44he makes the goalkeeper
00:13:45make a good save
00:13:46and then he's forming
00:13:48a really good partnership
00:13:49with Nick O'Reilly
00:13:50I think again
00:13:51and this is part of his game
00:13:52which I think he's improved a lot
00:13:53it's a really good ball
00:13:54to O'Reilly
00:13:55and then
00:13:55he pulls the ball back
00:13:56but nothing really comes of it
00:13:57again here
00:13:58drawing players into him
00:14:00good bit of communication
00:14:01with his eyes
00:14:02with O'Reilly
00:14:03which is important
00:14:03and you need
00:14:05really good touch
00:14:05flick
00:14:06ball comes into the box
00:14:07and then Man City
00:14:08get another half decent chance
00:14:09from him being positive
00:14:11and taking the ball
00:14:12here
00:14:13drawing players into him again
00:14:15stands the defender up
00:14:17no chance the defender
00:14:18can do anything about it
00:14:19and creates a really good chance
00:14:21for Erling Haaland
00:14:21so everything that City done
00:14:22comes from him
00:14:24finding the pocket of space
00:14:25in the middle of the pitch
00:14:25being positive again
00:14:27no hesitation
00:14:27taking a shot on his left foot
00:14:28and here
00:14:29Brentford now
00:14:30they know that he's caused them
00:14:32problems
00:14:32all day
00:14:33so now what they've done
00:14:35they've got three players out
00:14:36and they still can't deal with him
00:14:37they've got three players
00:14:38to try and get close to him
00:14:39to try and tackle him
00:14:40to try and foul him
00:14:41get to the byline again
00:14:43another good ball into the box
00:14:44and unlucky not to score
00:14:46and now on the corner
00:14:47Phil Foden plays it short
00:14:49they try and double up on him
00:14:51Thiago comes out
00:14:52to see if he can help as well
00:14:53and then here
00:14:54the problem here
00:14:55is Thiago thinks
00:14:56that Brentford have got the ball
00:14:57he goes to run forward
00:14:59he gambles for the counter-attack
00:15:00and Dockby comes into the space
00:15:02where Thiago was
00:15:03and it's another incredible finish
00:15:06incredible
00:15:07and to repeat that goal
00:15:09if you like
00:15:10as he has done a few times
00:15:11is just phenomenal
00:15:12and have a look at this as well
00:15:14well I think this shows
00:15:15how reliant
00:15:16today
00:15:17and not just today
00:15:18over the last few weeks
00:15:19Man City has been on Dockby
00:15:20most of the attacks
00:15:21come down the left hand side
00:15:22and when you've got a player
00:15:24that confident
00:15:24and not in form
00:15:25you have to just keep him in the ball
00:15:27and if you keep giving him the ball
00:15:28you'll cause problems
00:15:29well this increase
00:15:30this flurry of goal scoring activity
00:15:32is no coincidence
00:15:33Wayne
00:15:33have a look at this clip
00:15:34you and Micah
00:15:35telling him he needs to shoot more
00:15:37this is
00:15:37after the FA Cup semi-final
00:15:39and this was his response
00:15:41my first reaction
00:15:42when I dribble
00:15:43is like who is free
00:15:44instead of where is the goal
00:15:45you know
00:15:45instead of shoot
00:15:47so I have to be more
00:15:48selfish in those moments
00:15:49and look for the goal first
00:15:50as an attacker
00:15:52and since that FA Cup semi-final
00:15:54I mean he's literally
00:15:55gone out there
00:15:56and done everything you told him to
00:15:57yeah well after the semi-final
00:15:58I said to him off air
00:15:59I said you need to be more selfish
00:16:00and get more shots off
00:16:01and you see from that
00:16:03you know
00:16:03the goals he scored
00:16:04the shots he's had
00:16:05the chances created
00:16:06everything about his game
00:16:07since then
00:16:08it shows
00:16:09he's an absolute world-class player
00:16:10and this season
00:16:11but especially over the last month
00:16:13you see it come together
00:16:14are you claiming an assist?
00:16:16I hope not
00:16:17because obviously
00:16:17well Arsenal fans
00:16:18aren't happy with you
00:16:19no but
00:16:20but what you enjoy
00:16:21is top players
00:16:21being you know
00:16:23good and creating
00:16:23and causing problems
00:16:24for defenders
00:16:25and speaking of Arsenal
00:16:26of course for the title race
00:16:27they could not afford
00:16:28to drop any more points
00:16:29Manchester City
00:16:30they had to get back
00:16:30to winning ways today
00:16:32let's remind ourselves
00:16:33of the run-in there Ashley
00:16:34yeah they did
00:16:35they did what they had to do today
00:16:37against a very stubborn
00:16:38Brentford team
00:16:38and then they just put the pressure
00:16:40a little bit
00:16:40back onto Arsenal tomorrow
00:16:42I feel like Arsenal
00:16:44will be confident
00:16:44they'll go into that game
00:16:45with confidence
00:16:46and they know it's in their hands now
00:16:47and if you're Manchester City
00:16:49today you just go out
00:16:50and get the win
00:16:50any way you can do
00:16:52yeah I think City
00:16:53have just got to try
00:16:53and win the games
00:16:54and I said this last week
00:16:55I felt City
00:16:57would drop points
00:16:58against Everton
00:16:58and I feel like
00:16:59both teams will win
00:17:00every game
00:17:00which makes Arsenal
00:17:02champions
00:17:02and of course
00:17:03there were a couple
00:17:04of decisions
00:17:04you heard Keith Andrews
00:17:05there talking about
00:17:06Kevin Sharder
00:17:07that he felt
00:17:07could have gone for them
00:17:09today
00:17:09did you agree with him?
00:17:11no I can understand
00:17:12why he's frustrated
00:17:14because in real time
00:17:15both decisions
00:17:16seemed like a foul
00:17:17which weren't given
00:17:18but after watching it back
00:17:19I have to say
00:17:19I don't think
00:17:20either of them
00:17:20was a foul
00:17:22this was the first one
00:17:23and as you can see
00:17:24Nunes just gets a touch
00:17:25on the ball there
00:17:26and I don't think
00:17:27that's enough contact
00:17:28I can understand
00:17:29I don't think Sharder's dived
00:17:30because he's running at pace
00:17:31but I don't think
00:17:32it's enough for a foul
00:17:33watching this one
00:17:34in real time
00:17:35I thought it was a penalty
00:17:36definitely
00:17:36but as we see the replay
00:17:38Sharder actually trips himself up
00:17:40that's his own foot
00:17:42against his own heel
00:17:43and because again
00:17:44he's running at such pace
00:17:45he goes down
00:17:46so I can see
00:17:47why Keith Andrews
00:17:48would be frustrated
00:17:49but looking back at them
00:17:50they're not fouls
00:17:51at this stage
00:17:52in a title race
00:17:53when it's tit for tat
00:17:54Wayne
00:17:55you've been there
00:17:55tell us what it feels like
00:17:57when you're inside
00:17:58that
00:17:58exciting
00:17:59nervous
00:18:00you get every emotion
00:18:01and obviously
00:18:03with Man City winning today
00:18:04now it's Arsenal's turn
00:18:05to go out and win the game
00:18:07tomorrow against West Ham
00:18:07so every type of emotion
00:18:09you think you can have
00:18:10you go through
00:18:11over this next couple of weeks
00:18:13and it's brilliant
00:18:15when you're in it
00:18:15when you get out of it
00:18:17at the right side
00:18:18then it's incredible
00:18:19such a good feeling
00:18:20when you're on the wrong side
00:18:20which I've been on as well
00:18:22it's one of the worst fields
00:18:23in the world
00:18:24okay
00:18:24all to play for
00:18:25well if Aston Villa
00:18:27win the Europa League
00:18:28and finish fifth
00:18:29in the Premier League
00:18:30then sixth place
00:18:31would qualify
00:18:31for next season's
00:18:32Champions League
00:18:33Bournemouth currently
00:18:34occupy that spot
00:18:34on a run of 15 games
00:18:36unbeaten
00:18:36ahead of their visit
00:18:37to Fulham
00:18:37and Chris Lacham
00:18:38was at Craven Cottage
00:18:40Anthony Iriola
00:18:41has three games
00:18:42left at Bournemouth
00:18:43can he deliver
00:18:44continental football
00:18:45as the perfect
00:18:46parting gift
00:18:47Marco Silva
00:18:49may also be on the move
00:18:50we don't know
00:18:51if he'll extend
00:18:51his Craven Cottage contract
00:18:53he makes changes
00:18:54from the side
00:18:55folded by Arsenal
00:18:56last week
00:18:57Tom Cairney
00:18:58comes into midfield
00:18:59while Rodrigo Munez
00:19:01starts in place
00:19:02of the injured
00:19:02Raul Jimenez
00:19:03Bournemouth have stood
00:19:05down right back
00:19:05Alex Jimenez
00:19:06while they investigate
00:19:07social media posts
00:19:08so Adam Smith
00:19:10comes in
00:19:1012 goal junior
00:19:12groupie has impressed
00:19:12everyone this season
00:19:13including Barcelona
00:19:15said to be tracking
00:19:16his progress
00:19:21it's been a good watch
00:19:22some terrific football
00:19:23but precious little
00:19:24by way of real chances
00:19:27Traquese now
00:19:29threads one through
00:19:30to Castagna
00:19:31hangs the ball
00:19:32higher
00:19:32Munez
00:19:33with the goal gaping
00:19:35heads the ball wide
00:19:37head in hands
00:19:38for his manager
00:19:40Traquese with disguise
00:19:41on the pass
00:19:42the arc of the run
00:19:43kept him on side
00:19:44and Munez
00:19:46surely should have
00:19:47hit the target
00:19:50Castagna
00:19:52plays the ball
00:19:52inside to Wilson
00:19:54helps it on
00:19:55and now look at
00:19:55this space down
00:19:56the left hand side
00:19:57Robinson
00:19:59galloping forward
00:19:59Hill comes across
00:20:01to block him
00:20:02and it's important
00:20:02defensive work
00:20:03by the right back
00:20:05who tucked in
00:20:05Adam Smith
00:20:13Kearney is the first
00:20:14meets and Munez
00:20:15with the overhead

00:20:20shout for hand
00:20:21ball play continues

00:20:50VAR

00:20:55well Andy Madley
00:20:56is being sent to the
00:20:58screen here
00:20:58for the challenge
00:21:00by Ryan Christie
00:21:01on Castagna
00:21:03bad one
00:21:04when you slow it down
00:21:07and here comes the
00:21:08verdict
00:21:08after review
00:21:10the yellow card
00:21:11to Bournemouth
00:21:11number 10
00:21:12has been upgraded
00:21:13to a red card
00:21:14for serious
00:21:14outplay
00:21:15fine decision
00:21:16it's red card
00:21:17but it's not
00:21:18where do you see it
00:21:20so Ryan Christie
00:21:21is sent from the
00:21:22field
00:21:22in front of the
00:21:23watching Scotland
00:21:24boss Steve Clarke
00:21:26and Bournemouth
00:21:27are down to 10
00:21:31so not yet
00:21:32half time
00:21:32and Fulham are
00:21:33a man up
00:21:37Wilson's cross
00:21:39Anderson's header
00:21:40is looping
00:21:40onto the crossbar
00:21:42well that would
00:21:43have been
00:21:44a 1-2 punishment
00:21:45for Bournemouth
00:21:46really well worked
00:21:47Anderson gets up
00:21:48high
00:21:49I think Petrovic
00:21:51had it covered
00:21:55long range effort
00:21:56from Lukic
00:21:57is a good one
00:21:58and Petrovic
00:21:58punched
00:22:00Castagna helps
00:22:01it back in
00:22:01it's too high
00:22:02for Smith Rowe
00:22:04Fulham
00:22:04surging towards
00:22:06the half time
00:22:06break
00:22:09really good hit
00:22:10from Sasolukic
00:22:11denied by the
00:22:12brilliant diving
00:22:13save from Petrovic
00:22:18Tavernier has
00:22:19ridden the challenge
00:22:20of Castagna
00:22:21and
00:22:23the play was
00:22:24initially allowed
00:22:25to continue
00:22:25and then Anderson
00:22:26has gone in
00:22:26really heavily
00:22:27on Truffaut
00:22:28and all of a sudden
00:22:30born with the
00:22:30surrounding Andy
00:22:31Madley
00:22:31and asking him
00:22:33about the
00:22:33ferocity of the
00:22:34challenge
00:22:38it is a yellow
00:22:39card for
00:22:39Joachim
00:22:40Anderson
00:22:42they're checking
00:22:43this for a red
00:22:44card for possible
00:22:45serious foul play
00:22:46and now Andy
00:22:48Madley is being
00:22:48sent to the
00:22:49screen again
00:22:52the VAR
00:22:53are showing

00:22:57first so he can
00:22:58see it
00:22:58and then slowing
00:22:59it down so he
00:23:00can see the
00:23:00top leg
00:23:01and can judge
00:23:02for himself
00:23:03whether it's
00:23:03two feet
00:23:04with dangerous
00:23:05force
00:23:09after review
00:23:10the yellow
00:23:10card for
00:23:11Fulham
00:23:11number 5
00:23:12they've been
00:23:12upgraded to
00:23:13a red card
00:23:13in the same
00:23:14foul play
00:23:14and finally
00:23:15he did
00:23:16it's a red

00:23:22Anderson
00:23:22deemed
00:23:23insufficient
00:23:24after review
00:23:25and now
00:23:26Marco Silva's
00:23:27Fulham
00:23:27are also
00:23:28down to
00:23:2810 men
00:23:29and Fulham's
00:23:30advantage is
00:23:31removed
00:23:34well the
00:23:35half-time
00:23:35team talks
00:23:35would have
00:23:36been shaken
00:23:36up
00:23:36maybe even
00:23:37torn up
00:23:37by those
00:23:38two late
00:23:38red cards
00:23:40Tavernier
00:23:42did well
00:23:43to keep it
00:23:43in play
00:23:44couldn't keep
00:23:45possession
00:23:48but he's
00:23:48won it back
00:23:49here Tavernier
00:23:50and now
00:23:50Kruppi on the
00:23:51edge
00:23:51never needs
00:23:51too much
00:23:53and he's
00:23:53whipped the
00:23:54ball onto
00:23:54the crossbar
00:23:59barely a yard
00:24:00to work in
00:24:00for the young
00:24:01Frenchman
00:24:01but he's
00:24:01shown all
00:24:02season
00:24:02he doesn't
00:24:03need much
00:24:03more than

00:24:07at goal
00:24:07for the

00:26:51because we
00:26:51still need
00:26:52more points
00:26:52but it
00:26:53was a
00:26:53big game
00:26:55considering
00:26:55also the
00:26:56opposition
00:26:58also how
00:26:58the game
00:26:59has gone
00:26:59the two red
00:27:00cards
00:27:01you kind
00:27:01of reset
00:27:02start a
00:27:02different game
00:27:03and I think
00:27:04especially
00:27:04players
00:27:05have shown
00:27:05like
00:27:06big
00:27:06spirit
00:27:07completely
00:27:08underserved
00:27:08result
00:27:08for us
00:27:09I think
00:27:09is the
00:27:09first
00:27:10thing
00:27:10that I
00:27:10want
00:27:11to say
00:27:12after of
00:27:12course
00:27:12that real
00:27:13moment
00:27:13from
00:27:14Anderson
00:27:15and the
00:27:15red card
00:27:16changed
00:27:16completely
00:27:17the dynamic
00:27:17of the game
00:27:18I didn't
00:27:19see
00:27:19so far
00:27:20an image
00:27:20that showed
00:27:21to me
00:27:21that is
00:27:21a clear
00:27:22red card
00:27:22for Hoer
00:27:23that is
00:27:23true
00:27:24I didn't
00:27:24see
00:27:24I see
00:27:24many
00:27:25replays
00:27:26about
00:27:26the moment
00:27:26you don't
00:27:27think
00:27:27that's
00:27:27a red card
00:27:28I didn't
00:27:28see
00:27:28an image
00:27:28that showed
00:27:29to me
00:27:29that is
00:27:29a red card
00:27:31the lads
00:27:32are buzzing
00:27:32that was a real
00:27:33shift
00:27:34of a game
00:27:34we believe
00:27:35in ourselves
00:27:36the ability
00:27:36we've got
00:27:37in this group
00:27:37is top
00:27:38it's a special
00:27:39group
00:27:39and you know
00:27:41we've got two
00:27:41big games
00:27:42now to keep
00:27:43our dream alive
00:27:44we'll get on to
00:27:45the dream
00:27:45in a moment
00:27:45but Marco Silva
00:27:46having a bit
00:27:46of a grumble
00:27:47there about
00:27:47Joachim Anderson
00:27:48and that was
00:27:49the second
00:27:49red card
00:27:50of the match
00:27:51so let's do
00:27:51them in order
00:27:52Ryan Christie
00:27:52first
00:27:53how did you
00:27:54see them both
00:27:54yeah I think
00:27:55this one's a
00:27:55nailed on red card
00:27:56I think he's
00:27:57just misjudged
00:27:58it I don't think
00:27:59there was malice
00:27:59in the tackle
00:28:00but you can see
00:28:01clearly here
00:28:01it's high
00:28:02with force
00:28:03and he's out
00:28:04of control
00:28:04so I think
00:28:05Castagna's lucky
00:28:06that he managed
00:28:07to continue
00:28:08playing in that
00:28:08game
00:28:08I think
00:28:09Christie knows
00:28:10straight away
00:28:10he's mistimed
00:28:11that and
00:28:11it got upgraded
00:28:13and rightly so
00:28:13by Andy Madley
00:28:15who did have
00:28:15a busy afternoon
00:28:16this one
00:28:17at first
00:28:18I didn't
00:28:19I didn't think
00:28:19it was a red card
00:28:21and I thought
00:28:22that Anderson
00:28:23was a little bit
00:28:23unlucky
00:28:23but watching it
00:28:24back I think
00:28:25he's left the
00:28:25floor
00:28:25with both feet
00:28:28whereas he has
00:28:29touched the ball
00:28:30a little bit
00:28:31both of his right
00:28:33and his left foot
00:28:34made contact
00:28:34so I can see
00:28:35why it was given
00:28:36and he has
00:28:37tweeted about this
00:28:38and that appears
00:28:38to be genuine
00:28:39his sentiment
00:28:40in there
00:28:41that he's taking
00:28:42full responsibility
00:28:43so he's taking
00:28:44ownership of it
00:28:45which would suggest
00:28:46that he probably
00:28:47knows as well
00:28:47that it's the right
00:28:48decision
00:28:49and of course
00:28:49that all happened
00:28:50in the first half
00:28:51second half
00:28:51Bournemouth come out
00:28:52and we're used
00:28:53to seeing them
00:28:53playing very attractive
00:28:54attacking football
00:28:55and they kind of
00:28:56reverted to their
00:28:56type didn't they
00:28:57yeah absolutely
00:28:58and I think
00:28:59credit to the manager
00:29:00again we often
00:29:01say this
00:29:02but he actually
00:29:02took his striker
00:29:03off and put on
00:29:04Tyler Adams
00:29:04who was excellent
00:29:05and you can see
00:29:06with these three
00:29:06players at the top
00:29:07end of the pitch
00:29:08Tavenier wins the
00:29:09ball back
00:29:09it's a great
00:29:10base skill from
00:29:10Kruppi
00:29:11so unlucky
00:29:11not to score
00:29:12that that would
00:29:13have been a great
00:29:13goal
00:29:14and that
00:29:15Truffert
00:29:16delivers the
00:29:17ball in
00:29:17they keep it
00:29:18alive
00:29:19it goes out
00:29:19the back
00:29:21Rayan's very
00:29:21clever with where
00:29:22he gets the
00:29:23ball and once
00:29:23he gets in this
00:29:24position you just
00:29:25fancy him
00:29:25and it actually
00:29:26takes a bit of
00:29:27a nick off
00:29:27Calvin Bassie
00:29:28and goes past
00:29:29the goalkeeper
00:29:31Truffert as I
00:29:32said he had a
00:29:32really good game
00:29:33he's added so
00:29:34much to this
00:29:34Bournemouth team
00:29:35this season
00:29:36driving forward
00:29:36they've got
00:29:37pace and power
00:29:39Tavenier is always
00:29:39lively
00:29:40great bit of
00:29:40skill
00:29:40double step over
00:29:41shifts it
00:29:42gets his shot
00:29:43off and they're
00:29:44creating chances
00:29:44they still look
00:29:45dangerous even
00:29:46though Evan
00:29:46Nielsen's not
00:29:47on the pitch
00:29:47you can see
00:29:48here how quickly
00:29:49they get the
00:29:49ball forward
00:29:50little bit of
00:29:50skill from
00:29:51Kruppi and
00:29:52then Rayan
00:29:52he's been
00:29:53electric since
00:29:54he's been in
00:29:55the league
00:29:55but look at
00:29:55the support
00:29:56with him
00:29:56they're up
00:29:57even though
00:29:58they've got
00:29:5910 men
00:29:59they've still
00:30:00got energy
00:30:00a little bit
00:30:01unlucky
00:30:01Truffert probably
00:30:02should score
00:30:02good block
00:30:03from King
00:30:03but having
00:30:05taken his
00:30:06striker off
00:30:06with 10 men
00:30:07you wonder what
00:30:08he's doing
00:30:08but when you've
00:30:09got those
00:30:09players up front
00:30:10you've still
00:30:11got a
00:30:11passage there
00:30:12actually sums up
00:30:12it was a crazy
00:30:13game
00:30:13wasn't it
00:30:14very entertaining
00:30:15they are on
00:30:16the longest
00:30:17unbeaten run
00:30:18at the moment
00:30:18of 16 games
00:30:20that's in Europe's
00:30:21top 5 leagues
00:30:22this season
00:30:23they're the ones
00:30:23that are in
00:30:24the continuous
00:30:25unbeaten run
00:30:26the others have
00:30:26come to an end
00:30:27and that is why
00:30:28they're in the
00:30:28box seat
00:30:29really for that
00:30:306th spot
00:30:30yeah and I do
00:30:31really believe
00:30:32it's down to
00:30:33the manager
00:30:33I think he's
00:30:34been so impressive
00:30:35this season
00:30:35they've recruited
00:30:36well but
00:30:37it's almost like
00:30:38whoever he puts
00:30:39on the pitch
00:30:39gets the job done
00:30:40and he plays
00:30:40his style of football
00:30:41and I think
00:30:42they've been a
00:30:42credit to themselves
00:30:43and the league
00:30:43Man City at home
00:30:45Nottingham Forest
00:30:46away are their
00:30:46two remaining
00:30:47fixtures
00:30:48and Fulham
00:30:50of course
00:30:50could have been
00:30:51up there
00:30:51but they've just
00:30:52tailed off
00:30:52haven't they
00:30:53just two wins
00:30:53in nine
00:30:54and kind of
00:30:55an opposite
00:30:56situation in a way
00:30:57to Bournemouth
00:30:58who've got real
00:30:58clarity in what's
00:30:59going on with
00:30:59their team
00:31:00their manager
00:31:00for the future
00:31:01yeah it is
00:31:02and I think
00:31:02for the Fulham
00:31:04players obviously
00:31:04with the uncertainty
00:31:06with Michael
00:31:07Silver's future
00:31:08at the club
00:31:09and you don't
00:31:10know how that
00:31:10affects players
00:31:11and whether that
00:31:11affects them
00:31:12in a negative
00:31:12way but obviously
00:31:13the run of form
00:31:14they've been on
00:31:14hasn't been great
00:31:15and the flip side
00:31:16as you said
00:31:17was Bournemouth
00:31:18they lose the manager
00:31:20announce the manager's
00:31:21leaving and swiftly
00:31:22announce a new manager
00:31:23which gives them
00:31:24players clarity
00:31:25it gives them
00:31:25the energy
00:31:26and the vision
00:31:28to look forward
00:31:28to know what
00:31:28they want to do
00:31:29and hopefully
00:31:30go and qualify for Europe
00:31:31and of course
00:31:31new manager coming in
00:31:32Marco Rosa
00:31:32delighted that they're
00:31:34sitting there at the
00:31:34moment potentially
00:31:35with Champions League
00:31:36football next season
00:31:37okay well Brighton
00:31:38manager Fabian
00:31:39Hertzler signed
00:31:39a new deal this
00:31:40week to keep him
00:31:41at the club
00:31:42until 2029
00:31:43his side were
00:31:43looking to continue
00:31:44their push for
00:31:45European football
00:31:45when they faced
00:31:46bottom side Wolves
00:31:47at the Amex
00:31:48Jonathan Pearce
00:31:49watch this one
00:31:51Hertzler has won
00:31:5143.5% of his
00:31:53games in charge
00:31:54the highest win
00:31:55percentage of any
00:31:56of their managers
00:31:56since Gus Boyette
00:31:5813 years ago
00:31:59two wins from
00:32:00the last three
00:32:01should be enough
00:32:01for European
00:32:02qualification
00:32:03Wolves haven't
00:32:04won in 19
00:32:05away league games
00:32:06and their seven
00:32:07away goals this
00:32:08season
00:32:08it's the lowest
00:32:09tally in Europe's
00:32:09top ten leagues
00:32:10two Brighton
00:32:12changes to
00:32:12Koipa for
00:32:13Wiefer who's
00:32:13injured
00:32:14Carioglu switches
00:32:14to right back
00:32:15and Dunk returns
00:32:16after four games
00:32:17for Boscagli
00:32:18if Danny Welbeck
00:32:19scores a 14th
00:32:20Premier League
00:32:20goal this season
00:32:21it'll set a new
00:32:22club record
00:32:23one Wolves
00:32:24change
00:32:24Wang for
00:32:25Raccadari up
00:32:26front
00:32:26Crecci is
00:32:27fit enough
00:32:27for the bench
00:32:28they haven't
00:32:29beaten Brighton
00:32:29in the last
00:32:30eight meetings
00:32:30but they've
00:32:31lost here
00:32:32just once
00:32:33in six visits
00:32:37in the old
00:32:38golden black
00:32:39Wolverhampton
00:32:40Wanderers
00:32:40get us off
00:32:41and underway
00:32:41kicking from
00:32:43right to left
00:32:44if they lose
00:32:45today
00:32:46it means they'll
00:32:47have lost
00:32:47against all
00:32:48other 19
00:32:49Premier League
00:32:50clubs this season
00:32:50and that would
00:32:51be just the
00:32:52second time
00:32:53that's ever
00:32:54happened
00:32:54Hugo Bueno
00:32:56takes the
00:32:56throw to
00:32:57Andre
00:32:57here's Danny
00:32:58Welbeck
00:32:59to Mitoma
00:33:00Brighton will
00:33:00want to start
00:33:01the game
00:33:01on the front
00:33:02foot
00:33:02and well
00:33:03and it's out
00:33:04wide here
00:33:05for De Kuyper's
00:33:06cross into the
00:33:06middle
00:33:06and they've
00:33:07started brilliantly
00:33:09Pinchelwood
00:33:10three goals
00:33:10in three games
00:33:11and Brighton

00:33:13score
00:33:13in the first
00:33:15minute of play
00:33:16Brighton won
00:33:16Wolves nil
00:33:17what a start
00:33:20it was a
00:33:21towering leap
00:33:22and a fine
00:33:23header
00:33:23but I'll tell you
00:33:23what Mitoma
00:33:24does well
00:33:25here
00:33:26battled hard
00:33:27to play it out
00:33:28wide
00:33:29De Kuyper

00:33:34really
00:33:35appalling
00:33:35defending
00:33:36Brighton
00:33:37Albion

00:38:48and it
00:38:49set us
00:38:49on our
00:38:50way
00:38:51it
00:38:51probably
00:38:51weren't
00:38:52our
00:38:52best
00:38:52performance
00:38:53but
00:38:53it's

00:38:533-0
00:38:54win
00:38:54and
00:38:54that's
00:38:55all
00:38:55that
00:38:55matters
00:38:55at this
00:38:55stage
00:38:56of the
00:38:56season
00:38:56it's
00:38:56results
00:38:57it was a
00:38:57shocking
00:38:58start
00:38:58I think
00:38:58we were
00:38:59still in
00:38:59our nice
00:38:59hotel
00:38:59for the
00:39:00first five
00:39:00minutes
00:39:02absolutely
00:39:03despicable
00:39:04start
00:39:04played
00:39:05backwards
00:39:06still in
00:39:07bed for
00:39:07the second
00:39:07one
00:39:08the corner
00:39:08is shocking
00:39:09defending
00:39:10we know
00:39:10there's going
00:39:11to be a lot
00:39:11of change
00:39:11going forward
00:39:12and for next
00:39:12season
00:39:13so
00:39:14that is
00:39:14what it
00:39:15is
00:39:15but
00:39:15the ones
00:39:15that are
00:39:16here
00:39:16right now
00:39:16continue
00:39:17to show
00:39:17some pride
00:39:18two games
00:39:22how do you
00:39:22approach
00:39:23those games
00:39:24we have to
00:39:24go all in
00:39:25now and
00:39:26that approach
00:39:27it doesn't
00:39:27change so
00:39:28we will keep
00:39:29going we focus
00:39:30on our jobs
00:39:30we focus on
00:39:31things we can
00:39:32control we can
00:39:33influence that's
00:39:33only the performance
00:39:34and then we see
00:39:35what happens
00:39:36well they were
00:39:36disappointed with
00:39:37their performance
00:39:37last weekend
00:39:38against Newcastle
00:39:39and they were in
00:39:39a real hurry
00:39:40to get things
00:39:40done and dusted
00:39:41today weren't
00:39:41they
00:39:42the first ever
00:39:42Premier League
00:39:43goal for
00:39:43Brighton
00:39:43they was
00:39:44and they started
00:39:45the game
00:39:45with so much
00:39:47intensity
00:39:47and you look at
00:39:48this from the
00:39:49start getting
00:39:49around the ball
00:39:50winning the ball
00:39:50back
00:39:51and now
00:39:52they go forward
00:39:53they've got
00:39:53runners going
00:39:54forward and
00:39:55Wolves just
00:39:56could not live
00:39:56with it right
00:39:57from the start
00:39:57and I think
00:39:58this is Brighton's
00:39:59fastest goal
00:39:59in the Premier League
00:40:00history
00:40:0035 seconds
00:40:01but what a
00:40:02header what a
00:40:02cross and what
00:40:03a header that is
00:40:04and it didn't
00:40:05stop there
00:40:05Wolves just
00:40:06could not deal
00:40:06with Brighton
00:40:08all day
00:40:09and this
00:40:10another great
00:40:10switch of play
00:40:11we don't seem
00:40:11to see these
00:40:12switches of play
00:40:13anymore
00:40:14but then the
00:40:15intent again
00:40:15runners off the
00:40:16ball
00:40:16making Wolves
00:40:18look very
00:40:19ordinary
00:40:19which let's be
00:40:20honest they have
00:40:21been all season
00:40:22and then a good
00:40:23cutback and now
00:40:24they get a corner
00:40:24but look at the
00:40:25bodies in the box
00:40:26and from that
00:40:27resulting corner
00:40:27this defendant
00:40:29is shocking
00:40:30you look at the
00:40:30Wolves players
00:40:32Brighton the
00:40:32danger for Brighton
00:40:33is at the back
00:40:33post the Wolves
00:40:34players are not
00:40:34even interested
00:40:35they're not
00:40:35looking they're not
00:40:36opening the body
00:40:37they don't know
00:40:37what's around
00:40:37them and then
00:40:39as the ball
00:40:39comes into play
00:40:40the ball comes
00:40:41to the back
00:40:41post and then
00:40:43it's a really
00:40:44good header
00:40:44so I think
00:40:46how they started
00:40:46the game
00:40:47the intensity
00:40:47the energy
00:40:49which Wolves
00:40:50Brighton had
00:40:51was incredible
00:40:52and then
00:40:52this is the
00:40:5315th minute
00:40:54so all this
00:40:54is inside the
00:40:5515 minutes
00:40:56a game
00:40:57getting bodies
00:40:57in the box
00:40:59and then nearly
00:41:00killing the game
00:41:00off but
00:41:01I think
00:41:01the way
00:41:02Brighton
00:41:04set out the
00:41:04stall
00:41:05to win this
00:41:06game from
00:41:06early on
00:41:07was devastating
00:41:08and for the
00:41:09manager
00:41:09new three year deal
00:41:10three goals
00:41:11and three points
00:41:11and it was a
00:41:12fantastic performance
00:41:13Jack Hinchelwood
00:41:14has caught the
00:41:15eye all season
00:41:16hasn't he
00:41:16and he personifies
00:41:18versatility I think
00:41:19doesn't he
00:41:19because he's played
00:41:21in these positions
00:41:22here this is the
00:41:22percentage of time
00:41:23that he's played
00:41:24in each of these
00:41:24different positions
00:41:25and that's over
00:41:264,311 minutes
00:41:28as well
00:41:28so you think
00:41:30well where is
00:41:30his best position
00:41:31well of late
00:41:32it would seem
00:41:33actually to be
00:41:34in the 10 rule
00:41:35yeah and he's
00:41:36only 21 years old
00:41:37and sometimes
00:41:38as a young player
00:41:38you're asked to
00:41:39play and fill in
00:41:39and do a job
00:41:40for the team
00:41:40which he's obviously
00:41:41done you see
00:41:4230% of his games
00:41:43are right back
00:41:44there but
00:41:44he seems to have
00:41:45found a home
00:41:45as you say
00:41:46in this attacking
00:41:46midfield position
00:41:47he was brilliant
00:41:48again today
00:41:49scored a really
00:41:50brave good
00:41:50header at the
00:41:51start of the game
00:41:52and he seems
00:41:53to be comfortable
00:41:53in that creative
00:41:54position
00:41:55well I said
00:41:56that perhaps
00:41:56Bournemouth were
00:41:57in the box seat
00:41:57for that sixth
00:41:58place but these
00:41:59are Brighton's
00:42:00remaining fixtures
00:42:01they've got Leeds
00:42:02away Manchester
00:42:03United at home
00:42:04Wayne
00:42:04and let's not
00:42:05forget European
00:42:06football could go
00:42:07right down to
00:42:07eighth place
00:42:08this season
00:42:09yeah I think
00:42:10they're tough
00:42:10fixtures
00:42:11to Brighton
00:42:12a fantastic team
00:42:13they've shown
00:42:13that all season
00:42:15and I think
00:42:16it's safe to say
00:42:16that they pretty
00:42:17look sure to be
00:42:19playing European
00:42:19football at some
00:42:20stage next season
00:42:21they have had a
00:42:21season of course
00:42:22in Europe before
00:42:23but you know
00:42:24having Fabian
00:42:24Herzl's contract
00:42:25secured as well
00:42:26for a few more
00:42:27years that was
00:42:28announced this week
00:42:29again you referred
00:42:30to it with Bournemouth
00:42:30that certainty
00:42:32shows what a
00:42:33well run club it is
00:42:34yeah well exactly
00:42:35I think Devon
00:42:35Bramford are two
00:42:36of the best run
00:42:37clubs in the
00:42:38Premier League
00:42:38and it's no
00:42:39surprise to you
00:42:40know they're
00:42:40doing what to
00:42:41do
00:42:41okay thank you
00:42:42four games on
00:42:43tomorrow's match

00:42:45attention on events

00:42:46stadium
00:42:49Luke Jonah
00:42:52it's hit to
00:42:53Tommy Abraham
00:42:57and the header
00:42:58in
00:43:00Gino Barry
00:43:02and that would
00:43:03be
00:43:04but he's
00:43:05crossed for
00:43:06into
00:43:06Soler
00:43:07it's a great
00:43:08shot
00:43:08and
00:43:09Carla Wilson
00:43:10standing
00:43:11and it's

00:45:46beautiful strike
00:45:47it was too
00:45:49and it's taken

00:47:28here
00:47:28despite
00:47:29the fact
00:47:30they're
00:47:30behind
00:48:01the goal because most importantly for them they are level
00:48:05it's been a while since chelsea won a match at anfield their last win here
00:48:13came in front of an empty stadium during covid mason mount scored the only goal of the game
00:48:18that day it was five years ago
00:48:24caicedo great movement here by cucuraya almost an own goal and into the back of the net by
00:48:30cole palmer chelsea get their noses in front in the fourth minute of the second half
00:48:37and cole palmer scores for the first time in a couple of months since the 4-1 win away at
00:48:45aston villa early in march
00:48:50the goal is not going to stand cucuraya is adjudged to be in an offside position and it will be
00:48:57offside by a very slender margin well there's a let off for liverpool
00:49:06andre santos
00:49:09interception made by jones and kurnish jones has it now advantage played by the referee and
00:49:14jones has done really well
00:49:18and now it's with frimpong
00:49:23so bosline
00:49:262-1 liverpool flag goes up won't count
00:49:29curtis jones celebrates for barely a second or two
00:49:36both teams then denied a goal
00:49:38a slender offside margin in the opening 13 minutes of the second half
00:49:46liverpool have won the last two games here
00:49:48recently against fulham 2-0 and crystal palace 3-1 the last home match
00:49:54and they're on the front foot once more with ryan gravenberg
00:49:58jeremy frimpong
00:50:00looked like a handball there
00:50:01cuts back
00:50:03so false side brings the best out of jorgensen
00:50:06they will check for a possible penalty
00:50:11supporting arm
00:50:13is the word that comes back to the referee
00:50:19here comes the change for liverpool alexander isaac
00:50:22it's going to come on and the crowd
00:50:24are very unhappy
00:50:26that rio ungomoa is the player being substituted here by arna slott
00:50:31and having expressed their displeasure towards their manager at his decision
00:50:36ungomoa gets a great reception
00:50:48bit of space here for supports like to strike it
00:50:52rattling
00:50:54the frame of the goal
00:50:55with a venomous shot
00:51:00thunderous strike
00:51:06kukareya is challenged by jones
00:51:08and kaisedo loses it to isa
00:51:17corner
00:51:21more a liverpool pressure for chelsea to try to deal with
00:51:29and the header was a brilliant one from van dyke
00:51:33they will check the challenge on him inside the penalty area
00:51:39and they've actually looked at the other incident on
00:51:41mccallister
00:51:43but it will not be given as a penalty
00:51:52nicely done from xia pedro
00:51:54still going here
00:51:55and still
00:51:56and frimpong challenges
00:51:59he's back up
00:52:01but it will be looked at
00:52:02it breaks down for chelsea
00:52:03he's asking the question
00:52:05but liverpool can't get it away
00:52:07they claim a handball
00:52:08and the referee's going to give a free kick to liverpool
00:52:14they've completed the check on the challenge in the penalty area
00:52:17and it will not be a penalty
00:52:22that'll do it
00:52:23on is even at anfield
00:52:25and the noise in the background tells you what
00:52:28many among the home faithful think of it
00:52:31it's finished at anfield
00:52:32liverpool won
00:52:33chelsea won
00:52:35it was disappointing to concede that goal
00:52:37we'll have a look at that and look at the reasons why
00:52:40much better reaction from the early goal we conceded last week
00:52:42so that's a positive
00:52:43and that's what you have to do at this level
00:52:45at any moment
00:52:46premier league teams can have a moment
00:52:49score a goal
00:52:49a bit of quality
00:52:50so you have to
00:52:50it's not going to be perfect
00:52:52and I was pleased with the response
00:52:53Rio and Gamora was given an opportunity today
00:52:55he's quite a handful isn't he
00:52:57the crowd clearly
00:52:58wanted to see a bit more of him
00:53:00when he came off
00:53:01I can completely understand that they wanted to see him longer
00:53:03but what they probably didn't notice
00:53:06is that three minutes before that
00:53:07he went to the floor
00:53:08close to cramp
00:53:09so I had contact with him
00:53:11can you go on
00:53:11and he was really doubting
00:53:14so he gave the signal that he had to come off
00:53:16but I knew
00:53:18when his number went up
00:53:19that wasn't the most popular decision I could make at that moment of time
00:53:23yeah there were definitely some rumblings at Anfield
00:53:26of disquiet today
00:53:27we'll get into that
00:53:28but first of all Wayne
00:53:29will you clear up the Chelsea equaliser
00:53:32and who should the goal go to
00:53:35yeah it's Enzo's goal I think
00:53:37it's a really good free kick actually
00:53:40but it's poor defenders from Liverpool
00:53:43you look at the space here in the middle of the penalty box
00:53:46and the ball goes right through
00:53:48and for Fahner
00:53:49I think he
00:53:50he says straight away
00:53:52it's not his goal
00:53:53and he points to Enzo
00:53:54so
00:53:56it's Enzo's goal
00:53:57but the marking from Liverpool
00:53:59was terrible
00:54:00and I initially thought
00:54:01he actually got a touch on the ball
00:54:03that's the angle
00:54:04yeah it looked like it did
00:54:05but then this clears it up
00:54:06I think
00:54:07you see here
00:54:07he's nowhere near the ball
00:54:09and it goes straight in
00:54:10but the worrying thing for Liverpool
00:54:12is if you look at Chelsea players here
00:54:14they're all reacting
00:54:14and all waiting for a rebound
00:54:16or the second ball
00:54:16and there's only one Liverpool player
00:54:18who's actually reacting
00:54:19they're all stood
00:54:20you know
00:54:208-10 yards out the box
00:54:23and just watching it go on
00:54:25so I think that was a big concern
00:54:27six defeats in a row before today
00:54:29for Chelsea
00:54:29and there was a little tactical tweak
00:54:31wasn't there involving Mark Cucurella
00:54:33which has made a bit of a difference for you
00:54:35yeah absolutely
00:54:36today I think they played him higher
00:54:38of the pitch they had
00:54:39Fafana just in Bia
00:54:40Hato sorry
00:54:41just in behind him
00:54:42and this is from kick-off
00:54:43and it shows
00:54:45that most of the attacks today
00:54:47were down Chelsea's left-hand side
00:54:49and that was
00:54:49that was down to Cucurella
00:54:51who's
00:54:51we know he's full of energy
00:54:53full of running
00:54:54very creative
00:54:55and today he looked like
00:54:56he enjoyed himself
00:54:57in this
00:54:58more advanced position
00:55:01the timing of his run here
00:55:02is brilliant
00:55:03he's looking to run forward
00:55:04he's looking to run in beyond
00:55:05he's creating
00:55:06chances for Chelsea
00:55:08and as you said
00:55:09where they've
00:55:10struggled up to now
00:55:11but he was
00:55:12Curtis Jones
00:55:13was playing against him
00:55:14who's a midfielder
00:55:15and you can see
00:55:16he just switches off here
00:55:17another
00:55:18another good run
00:55:19from Cucurella
00:55:20he was really trying to
00:55:21pierce the Liverpool defence
00:55:23with his movement
00:55:24and his runs in behind
00:55:26here now
00:55:27now that Frimpong's on him
00:55:28Jones is a little bit
00:55:29caught in between
00:55:30should he go to Fernandes
00:55:31or not
00:55:32again
00:55:32this one
00:55:33he was just offside
00:55:35on this one
00:55:35but again
00:55:36it's another great run
00:55:37the timing of it
00:55:38was nearly perfect
00:55:39nearly sets up the goal
00:55:40for Cole Palmer
00:55:44this is Curtis Jones
00:55:45on the ball
00:55:46gives it away
00:55:46just look at Cucurella
00:55:48he's on his bike
00:55:49straight away
00:55:50he doesn't stop there
00:55:51he continues
00:55:52into the box
00:55:53two Liverpool players
00:55:54are focused on the ball
00:55:55nobody's thinking about
00:55:57what's behind them
00:55:58he makes that run
00:55:59and again
00:56:00nearly gets his shot off
00:56:01if it's not for
00:56:02a really good block
00:56:03from McAllister
00:56:04so
00:56:04you know
00:56:05in a team that's
00:56:05struggled to find
00:56:06creativity
00:56:07just moving
00:56:08Cucurella up the pitch
00:56:09seems to do his trick
00:56:11for them to then
00:56:11give them a different
00:56:12dynamic to their attack
00:56:13and getting that point
00:56:14and having a performance
00:56:15like that
00:56:15the week before
00:56:16you've got an FA Cup final
00:56:17will have done them
00:56:18the world of good
00:56:19but Liverpool
00:56:19Wayne
00:56:20could have today
00:56:21of course
00:56:21all but sealed the deal
00:56:22in terms of Champions League
00:56:23football
00:56:23they had a lot to play for
00:56:24today
00:56:24they did
00:56:25they could have
00:56:25guaranteed Champions League
00:56:27football next year
00:56:28and it looks like
00:56:29they'll certainly get that
00:56:30but there was a lot
00:56:32of worrying signs
00:56:32which there has been
00:56:33all season
00:56:33if I'm being honest
00:56:34and I think
00:56:36they don't know
00:56:37they haven't got
00:56:38an identity
00:56:39of how they play
00:56:40players don't look
00:56:41as if they're interested
00:56:42to play for the team
00:56:43and the fans
00:56:44are realising that
00:56:45the fans are seeing that
00:56:46and obviously
00:56:46we've seen it
00:56:47with Rio going off
00:56:48but the Liverpool fans
00:56:49are normally
00:56:49they give the players
00:56:51time
00:56:51they give the managers
00:56:52time
00:56:52they're patient with them
00:56:54but I think
00:56:54they're starting to lose
00:56:55to patience
00:56:55they've lost nine points
00:56:57from winning positions
00:56:57at Anfield this season
00:56:59which is the most
00:57:00for a very long time
00:57:02and obviously
00:57:02it's a completely
00:57:03contrasting season
00:57:04isn't it
00:57:04to this time last year
00:57:05there's a lot to get right
00:57:07a lot to put right
00:57:08yeah
00:57:08and I think
00:57:09they made a lot of changes
00:57:10in the summer
00:57:11ones that we all sat here
00:57:12and thought were really
00:57:13good players
00:57:14and it's taken them
00:57:15a long time
00:57:15to integrate into it
00:57:16going forward
00:57:17I'm not sure
00:57:17you know
00:57:18which of these players
00:57:19that Arna Slott
00:57:20is going to try
00:57:21and build
00:57:21his team around
00:57:22and who are the
00:57:24core players
00:57:25in this team
00:57:25it just
00:57:26at the minute
00:57:26they just don't
00:57:27I don't see really
00:57:28where they're going
00:57:29it's been a really
00:57:29frustrating season
00:57:30for Liverpool
00:57:31OK
00:57:31third place
00:57:32Manchester United
00:57:33have already sealed
00:57:34their place
00:57:34in next season's
00:57:35Champions League
00:57:36they headed to
00:57:36the Stadium of Light
00:57:37to face a Sunderland side
00:57:38still with European
00:57:39ambitions of their own
00:57:40Mark Scott
00:57:41is your commentator
00:57:43Sunderland are just
00:57:44three points off
00:57:45eighth
00:57:46which could be
00:57:46good enough
00:57:47for a place
00:57:47in Europe
00:57:48next season
00:57:49but they've not
00:57:50been too good
00:57:51lately
00:57:51taking just a point
00:57:52from their past
00:57:53three matches
00:57:54their appeal
00:57:55against Dan Ballard's
00:57:56red card at Wolves
00:57:57was unsuccessful
00:57:58so Luzer Alhid
00:58:00Traude comes in
00:58:01for his first minutes
00:58:02in over a month
00:58:03Manchester United
00:58:04have Lissandro
00:58:05Martinez
00:58:05back available
00:58:06after a ban
00:58:07while there are
00:58:08rare starts
00:58:08for Mountain
00:58:09Terksi
00:58:10with Masrawi
00:58:11and former
00:58:12Sunderland favourite
00:58:12Ahmad
00:58:13also coming in
00:58:18Krandichaka
00:58:21wanted Reynaldo
00:58:22to make the run
00:58:23almost used him
00:58:24by not using him
00:58:25Reynaldo now
00:58:26shuffles it back
00:58:27to Talbi
00:58:30Sunderland making
00:58:31the brighter start
00:58:32and a bright moment
00:58:33here which nearly
00:58:34ends up in the net
00:58:35from Talbi
00:58:38Sanolomans
00:58:39I think knew
00:58:40he knew it was
00:58:41going wide
00:58:45Manchester United
00:58:46yet to have
00:58:47so many serious
00:58:48possession
00:58:48in the Sunderland
00:58:50half
00:58:50and it's Sunderland
00:58:51coming forwards
00:58:52again here
00:58:53Siddiqui's through
00:58:55and he's denied
00:58:56by a terrific
00:58:57stop from
00:58:58Senolomans
00:59:03Siddiqui started
00:59:04to move
00:59:05but a bit of
00:59:06fancy footwork
00:59:07continued his run
00:59:08spotted and
00:59:09picked out
00:59:10by a super
00:59:10pass
00:59:11and then it's a
00:59:12super stop from
00:59:13Lomans to prevent
00:59:13Sunderland taking the
00:59:15early lead
00:59:15and they are making
00:59:16the early running
00:59:18while he secured
00:59:20Champions League
00:59:20qualification last
00:59:21week
00:59:22Michael Carrick
00:59:22says nothing's
00:59:23really changed
00:59:24in terms of
00:59:25whether he'll be
00:59:26staying on as
00:59:26manager next season
00:59:27and that he's not
00:59:29bothered if the club
00:59:29are running the
00:59:30rule over other
00:59:32potential candidates
00:59:33as well
00:59:33given the job that
00:59:35both these managers
00:59:36have done this season
00:59:37it's a bit strange
00:59:38that there is talk
00:59:39that they might not
00:59:40be in post
00:59:41come the start
00:59:41of the next
00:59:42campaign
00:59:46Ahmad peeling away
00:59:47and that's
00:59:48important from
00:59:48Rinaldo
00:59:50Kunja back in
00:59:51and Xerxi
00:59:53best we've seen
00:59:55from Manchester
00:59:55United so far
00:59:57tricky for Xerxi
00:59:59though as he was
01:00:00going backwards
01:00:00to try and
01:00:01generate some
01:00:02forwards momentum
01:00:05a much changed
01:00:06Manchester United
01:00:07side today
01:00:08and they're yet
01:00:08to really click
01:00:13Lafay
01:00:14Brobby
01:00:15laid off nicely
01:00:17and sent wide
01:00:18by Sadiqi
01:00:19with the aid
01:00:20of a deflection
01:00:22it's another
01:00:23sight of
01:00:24Senel Oman's
01:00:24goal for Sunderland
01:00:25and Sadiqi's
01:00:27strike looked
01:00:28on target
01:00:28until the
01:00:29intervention
01:00:30from Mason
01:00:32Mount
01:00:35the weather
01:00:36is rubbish
01:00:36and the
01:00:37game hasn't
01:00:38been much
01:00:39better
01:00:39sure as
01:00:41hurried
01:00:41clearance is
01:00:42cut out
01:00:48Lafay
01:00:48bit of quality
01:00:50there
01:00:50and
01:00:51Brobby
01:00:52denied by a
01:00:53quality stop
01:00:53from Lomans
01:00:55not the first
01:00:56time today
01:00:57that the
01:00:57Manchester United
01:00:58keeper has
01:00:59stood up
01:01:00and kept
01:01:01Manchester United
01:01:02level in the
01:01:03game
01:01:03perhaps a bit
01:01:05too close
01:01:05to Lomans
01:01:06but he still
01:01:06had work to
01:01:07do
01:01:07and reacted
01:01:09smartly
01:01:16there
01:01:16hit
01:01:17hit
01:01:17rowder
01:01:19brobby hit
01:01:20rowder
01:01:24hasn't scored for
01:01:25Sunderland
01:01:25let's are all
01:01:27hit rowder
01:01:28mightily close to
01:01:30changing that
01:01:31here
01:01:31nice layoff from
01:01:32Broby
01:01:33And although he slipped as he hit it, it was almost inch-perfect.
01:01:44Out to Fernandes.
01:01:47And Manchester United have got a man down here.
01:01:50It's Bruno Fernandes who's holding his face.
01:01:58Oh, and I think that Angulo could be in trouble here.
01:02:04Certainly an arm in the face of Bruno Fernandes.
01:02:07I'd be surprised if VAR didn't want to take a closer look at this.
01:02:12Movement of the arm towards Fernandes but not in a violent manner is the VAR verdict.
01:02:20So Bruno's going to be disappointed here that there are no further repercussions.
01:02:28Martinez, good strong challenge that, not a bad pass either.
01:02:31And here's Mateus Cunha to possibly win it for United.
01:02:37Masraoui Fernandes!
01:02:41Still searching for that bit of quality this afternoon, Manchester United.
01:02:51Bruno Fernandes releasing Dorgu.
01:02:54Danger here for Sunderland.
01:02:55Dorgu's cut back. Cunha!
01:02:58Roof's in the way.
01:03:03Cunha with the turn and then the tumble.
01:03:06And it's a free kick for simulation and a yellow card for Mateus Cunha.
01:03:12The referee had no hesitation here that this was a dive from Cunha.
01:03:18Hasn't had much to do today.
01:03:20Robin Roof's been ensured that he was in the right spot to repel that strike from Cunha.
01:03:28I think a clean sheet away from home.
01:03:30Tough place to come here.
01:03:32We knew it was going to be tough.
01:03:33It was never going to be a perfect game.
01:03:35I think it shows probably where we're at in terms of not playing totally at our best and getting a
01:03:40good result.
01:03:40So the point's okay.
01:03:41Probably we created chances to win this game, but chances doesn't mean goal.
01:03:48And when we got this momentum and the big chances, we were not clinical enough.
01:03:54And I think the Premier League is really demanding.
01:03:56When you don't score, you are always on the edge.
01:03:59But it shows that our season has been excellent so far.
01:04:01And I think we don't know what will happen for the last two games, but it's very positive.
01:04:07And if we are disappointed at home after a draw against Man United, it's a good sign for the club.
01:04:13And some people from the outside looking in will say,
01:04:15was there an issue with motivation now that you've got Champions League in the bag?
01:04:19No.
01:04:21And that's not something that you need to be concerned about for the remainder of the season either, is it?
01:04:25Not at all.
01:04:26When nothing's done, you know, the season's not finished.
01:04:29So if someone's got that mentality, then they're not in our camp.
01:04:32So it's not something we spoke about.
01:04:34And it's certainly not going into the game today.
01:04:36The boys were in a really good place.
01:04:37So that's really not something that we're concerned about at all.
01:04:40We'll talk about Manchester United's performance and maybe the drop off from last weekend in a moment.
01:04:45But first of all, the incident on Bruno Fernandes at Nilsson Angulo.
01:04:49Was he lucky?
01:04:50Yeah, very lucky.
01:04:51Really lucky boy, because I don't know what he's thinking here.
01:04:55He's clearly...
01:04:56That's not a running action.
01:04:58He's clearly tried to elbow him in the face.
01:05:02He's caught him with his forearm.
01:05:03We've heard today that because it was the forearm, not the elbow, or it wasn't enough contact that it's not
01:05:09a red card.
01:05:10It is a red card.
01:05:11That's the naughty challenge.
01:05:12He's very lucky not to be sent off.
01:05:13And there was a drop off in performance.
01:05:16There were a few personnel changes as well.
01:05:18And perhaps if we have a little look at Michael Carrick's use of his players since his time in charge,
01:05:25he's actually used fewer players in the Premier League than most teams around.
01:05:31In fact, any other team around him equal there with Leeds and Everton and Bournemouth below.
01:05:35And that points to perhaps the fact that he is showing today he needs to strengthen his squad with Champions
01:05:41League football next week.
01:05:42Yeah, no, I think with Manchester United on the Champions League last season, obviously, to get back in the Champions
01:05:47League against Liverpool last week was big for the club.
01:05:51And today, yeah, they weren't at the best today.
01:05:54But in terms of the players' use, I think what it shows is that Manchester United need to invest in
01:05:59players in the summer because in order for Manchester United to compete in the Premier League next season and the
01:06:05Champions League next season, where do you want to be?
01:06:07Do you have to invest? Do you have to strengthen the squad?
01:06:09And I don't think there's any denying that.
01:06:11Now, if I was a player and Manchester United wanted to sign me, the first question I would ask is,
01:06:17does the manager want me?
01:06:18Who is the manager? Does the manager want me?
01:06:19So I think for Manchester United to have that clarity on who the manager is, and listen, I think everyone
01:06:25knows I've been very supportive of Michael Carrick.
01:06:27If Michael Carrick hadn't done the job he'd done, I wouldn't be sitting here saying, you should give him the
01:06:32job.
01:06:32But I think for what he's done, and he's earned his right to get that manager's job.
01:06:36And I think for the club to announce him, I think they need to do it swiftly because they need
01:06:42to get players in and they need to get players, you know, they'll be talking, I'm sure they will.
01:06:45But they need to get players in for next season to improve that team.
01:06:48And the price of those players that they're looking at, if they have a good World Cup, it only goes
01:06:52up, doesn't it?
01:06:52So in terms of good business sense, you want to get those players signed up before they go off and
01:06:57play in the World Cup.
01:06:58Absolutely, because they'll have their targets. And we've seen now that, you know, he wants the players that he wants
01:07:04to play and when some of those players are out there are a weaker team.
01:07:08First and foremost, I agree with you. I don't know what more Michael Carrick can do to get the job.
01:07:12It's a bit farcical that he hasn't got the job already.
01:07:14Just give him it. He's got the club back into the Champions League. So back him and then he can
01:07:18go on and choose players that he wants quickly and swiftly before the World Cup.
01:07:22It's not that. It's players will be looking at Manchester United, but they'll also be looking at other teams. So
01:07:28what you don't want to do is have your targets and then lose them because you haven't got a manager
01:07:32in place.
01:07:32And I think he's done everything to get it done and then let's start bringing players in.
01:07:37And some people might say, well, yeah, they've not played as many players because they haven't played in as many
01:07:40competitions.
01:07:41They've played the fewest games in their history this season, haven't they? But they'll be playing a lot more next
01:07:44season.
01:07:45Yeah, they will. And listen, whether it's Michael or someone else, they're going to have to bring players in regardless.
01:07:50So it should be Michael and let's hope it is. Final word. OK, let's have a look at the table.
01:07:55The gap at the top is now two points after Manchester City's win. Manchester United and Liverpool stay third and
01:08:00fourth respectively.
01:08:02Bournemouth, Brighton and Brentford remain in the race for Europe. At the other end, both West Ham and Tottenham are
01:08:07still fighting for survival.
01:08:09Arsenal go to the London Stadium on Sunday, while Spurs host Leeds on Monday night.
01:08:15Thank you so much, Ashley and Wayne. In a season then of surprises, here's where we stand.
01:08:19Pep supporting the Hammers. Spurs might need Arsenal to do them a favour and Bournemouth could be in the Champions
01:08:25League.
01:08:25And we're still no closer to knowing who's going to win the title. Expect more twists and turns over the
01:08:29next few weeks. Good night.
