A gunman killed six members of his family, then took his own life, during a spate of shootings on Monday (June 1) in the eastern Iowa city of Muscatine, a waterfront town situated across the Mississippi River from Illinois, police said.

00:08Muscatine Police Chief Anthony Keyes said police received reports of the shooting at around 12.12 p.m. local time.
00:16A preliminary investigation found that the shootings appeared to have stemmed from a domestic-related dispute.
00:22However, police have not disclosed further details about what may have triggered the violence.
00:27The adult male suspect had left the residence prior to law enforcement's arrival, but was quickly identified as Ryan Willis
00:35McFarlane, 52 years, Muscatine, Iowa.
00:40Officers located McFarlane on the riverfront trail near the pedestrian bridge.
00:46While talking to Ryan Willis McFarlane, he took his own life.
00:52Officers and EMS personnel rendered aid, however, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
00:58Keyes also confirmed that McFarland had a previous criminal record, but declined to provide additional information.
