00:09Taiwan's Military Research and Development Center is showcasing its latest developments in this technology.
00:15The robot dogs are built jointly with U.S. technology.
00:44In May, Taiwan Plus reported that Ghost Robotics,
00:48the U.S. firm working with Taiwan's military research agency, was looking to outsource its manufacturing to Taiwan.
00:55The two main robot dogs on display here are designed for reconnaissance and attack.
01:01This reconnaissance robot dog can work alongside drones and other immense systems, making a more connected battlefield network.
01:08While this armed robot dog can use AI to identify targets with these gun turrets,
01:14allowing it to more accurately identify targets, the moving ones specifically, during combat.
01:20Also being showcased is this light detection and ranging robot dog, which uses thermal imaging for inspections,
01:28is able to avoid obstacles, and conduct round-the-clock security patrols, all while sending real-time data back to
01:35operators.
01:36The Zhongshan Institute says this is part of Taiwan's broader push to build a China-free supply chain for immense
01:42systems.
01:43But some analysts say cutting China out of the supply chain would likely push out manufacturing costs and require stronger
01:50scrutiny.
02:10The Zhongshan Institute says the robot dog models have already completed testing in complex terrain, field environments, and patrolling military
02:18bases.
02:18The Zhongshan Institute says they could potentially appear in large-scale military exercises, including the annual Han Guang drills.
02:26And both the Army and the Coast Guard are expected to use them in the future.
