00:00The man wiped the ice skate blade clean, then opened his mouth wide and discovered a painful
00:04cavity. With no dentist anywhere nearby, he made a bold decision. He pressed the blade from his
00:08skate against the bad tooth, braced himself, picked up a rock, and slammed it down hard.
00:12The intense pain knocked him out cold. When he came to, he opened the packages that had fallen
00:16from the plane crash, hoping to find something useful. The first box contained a stack of
00:20videotapes. The second held a volleyball. The third had a pair of ice skates he could use to
00:24crack open coconuts. Then he found a woman's long dress, tore off the hem, and fashioned it into a
00:28fishing net. But when he was about to open the last package, he hesitated. He decided not to

00:57him do it. Finally, the wood began to smoke. He bent down, blew hard on it, and at last,
01:01flames erupted. That night, he built a bonfire on the beach. He roasted a delicious crab and
01:05gained a new friend by his side. Four years flew by. He'd grown accustomed to island life and could
01:09easily cast his line to catch fish. But loneliness was the hardest thing to bear. One day, he discovered
01:14a piece of torn sheet metal that had washed ashore. Watching it flutter in the wind, inspiration
01:18struck. Maybe he could turn it into a sail. Without wasting time, he immediately started chopping
01:22down trees, collecting bark and drying it out, then twisting the bark into rope and even tearing up
01:26videotape to make more cordage. Once everything was ready,
