00:00Mr. President, there are 14 kids dead in an elementary school in Texas right now.
00:19What are we doing?
00:22What are we doing?
00:26Just days after a shooter walked into a grocery store to gun down African-American patrons,
00:33we have another Sandy Hook on our hands.
00:37What are we doing?
00:41There have been more mass shootings than days in the year.
00:44Why are you here?
00:49If not to solve a problem as existential as this.
00:58This isn't inevitable.
01:01These kids weren't unlucky.
01:04This only happens in this country.
01:07And nowhere else, nowhere else do little kids go to school thinking that they might be shot that day.
01:13But I'm here on this floor to beg, to literally get down on my hands and knees and beg my
01:22colleagues.
01:24Find a path forward here.
01:27Work with us to find a way to pass laws that make this less likely.
01:35I understand my Republican colleagues will not agree to everything that I may support,
01:39but there is a common denominator that we can find.
01:43that may not overnight cut in half the number of murders that happen in America.
01:49It will not solve the problem of American violence by itself.
01:54But by doing something,
01:57we at least stop sending this quiet message of endorsement
02:04to these killers whose brains are breaking,
02:07who see the highest levels of government doing nothing.
02:11Shooting after shooting.
02:13You will also have to confirm your actions.
02:13It will be even more impactful when you are wondering,
