00:00I am a nasty human.
00:02What did y'all do?
00:03You did it.
00:04Over here again, Liz.
00:05Why am I a nasty human?
00:10Virtual reality.
00:12Hey, it's Evan Real, and this week Danny Murphy is out,
00:15but we got Rachel Meller, VRT's incredible social editor
00:18who has tapped into all things Housewives,
00:21especially Rhode Island Housewives,
00:22and boy, oh boy, this episode was a doozy.
00:26I feel like we should just kick it off
00:28with Joellen and Liz's incredible fight
00:32done at the Frank Sinatra concert.
00:34Oh, not Frank Sinatra, Rich, the Rich concert.
00:37What did you make of that?
00:38That was crazy, fighting in front of Rich as he's singing,
00:41but also taking it outside,
00:43and then Joellen getting upset
00:45that Liz didn't bring her a cigarette.
00:46There's so much to process.
00:48No, the cigarette of it all.
00:49She goes, are you going to give me one?
00:51And she has no idea that Liz is so rip-boring mad at her.
00:55She's like, oh, are you going to give me a cigarette too?
00:56Like, she thinks it's going to be, like, all copacetic.
00:59Like, they're just going to be hanging out outside.
01:00You didn't get me one?
01:02Oh, did you want one?
01:03No, I'll just share.
01:06I know how much you love Alicia.
01:07Well, no, that's actually a good point you bring up
01:09because it is very emblematic of the energy
01:12that both girls are bringing to this situation.
01:14I think Liz is a little bit more activated
01:17and a little bit more angry than Joellen.
01:18I truly do believe,
01:20and I wonder how Liz feels about
01:21the whole situation with reflection.
01:24I think that Joellen was coming in peace.
01:26I think she was coming in peace a million percent.
01:29And, like, something tipped Liz off
01:31that maybe she wasn't.
01:33And I think she just wanted no part of it.
01:34And maybe if she was given space,
01:36it would have just blown over.
01:38Right.
01:38But when you're, like, so bothered by someone
01:40and it's, like, building and building
01:41and then they're, like, all over you as you're upset,
01:43you're like, please get away from me.
01:44Oh, my God, I know.
01:45Yeah, Joellen seemed to, like,
01:46like, really want to address it
01:48and get over it immediately
01:50because I do think that she cherishes
01:52her friendship with Liz so much.
01:55And then also a part of this discussion
01:57and conversation is Liz doesn't even feel like she
02:01and Joellen were that close to begin with.
02:04But Joellen was like,
02:05you were the first person I called when my grandpa died.
02:08Like, you were there for me.
02:09Like, so for her to sort of diminish the,
02:12I guess, the strength of their friendship
02:14was very hurtful to Joellen.
02:16And then we kind of see in flashbacks
02:18that Liz kind of utilizes this strategy
02:21when she's feuding with her friends
02:22because she's obviously very close to Kelsey, too.
02:24They had a little bit of a scuffle.
02:26They have since patched things up.
02:27But when they were fighting,
02:29one of the things that she said was,
02:30you know, we were never friends,
02:31you were never a friend, et cetera.
02:33So I can understand how that could be
02:36a coping mechanism for Liz.
02:39But I do think that Joellen is truly a friend,
02:42does care about the friendship.
02:43And I hope that Liz eventually sees that
02:45because we come back to Joellen and Liz
02:48at the end of the episode.
02:49They have this lunch and it begins to rain,
02:53which felt like a bit foreshadowing.
02:56Yeah, Joellen's sitting there.
02:57She's like freezing.
02:58Liz gets out of the car in like a spaghetti strap dress.
03:01I'm like, what are you guys doing?
03:02Go inside.
03:03No, I know.
03:04But they didn't even have time
03:06to maybe switch tables, go inside
03:08because Liz departed the scene.
03:11She left the premises early.
03:13They just were not connecting.
03:15Act the way you treated me.
03:16I'm trying to move past this.
03:18Bye-bye.
03:19Bye-bye.
03:21You know, before we hopped on the mic,
03:23we were saying,
03:23it just seems like they're not understanding each other.
03:27And it all begins with this discussion
03:29over homelessness
03:30and what that means to Alicia versus Liz
03:33and Joellen trying to play Peacemaker.
03:36And again, that was a big misunderstanding.
03:38Now they're having another misunderstanding.
03:40I don't understand why the girls
03:42just like aren't getting each other,
03:44especially because all these girls
03:45have known each other for so long.
03:47No, and I think that's a good point
03:48because I do believe that they actually are friends
03:51and it is just a coping mechanism for Liz
03:53because she's trying to protect herself
03:55and be like,
03:56oh, we're actually not that close.
03:57Like, it's okay that you're not being so kind to me.
04:00It's okay because we weren't that close,
04:02but it's clearly not the case.
04:04Right.
04:04Now their dissection of whether Liz pulled her hair
04:08or kicked her chair was really interesting
04:10because when they played the flashbacks,
04:13it wasn't a pull of the hair.
04:14It was like a gentle warning.
04:18It's still not good.
04:19No, it's not good.
04:19She should not have given her...
04:21If someone touched my hair,
04:23oh my God,
04:24that's like already I'm getting annoyed with,
04:26I would get activated, I think.
04:29And that takes a lot for me,
04:30but like, don't touch me.
04:31Like, to be honest,
04:32Joellen kind of played it really cool
04:33because if someone even gently tugged my hair
04:36the way Liz gently tugged Joellen's hair,
04:38like, I feel like I'd be ready to throw hands, but...
04:41So even if you like pad me on the shoulder,
04:43like, please, like, don't touch me.
04:45No, I know.
04:45It's a lot.
04:46So she gave a little gentle tug of the hair
04:48and then she didn't necessarily kick the chair
04:51as Joellen claimed.
04:52And maybe Joellen's memory was fuzzy
04:54because, like, when you're in an activated state like that,
04:56I feel like you just, like, see black or see red
04:58and you just don't remember things quite clearly.
05:00She didn't kick the chair,
05:02but she certainly pushed the chair.
05:04Like, she really gave it as...
05:05Liz is strong.
05:06Yeah.
05:06She's doing her Pilates.
05:08Like, she is...
05:09There is some strength behind that push,
05:12you know, watching it back.
05:13I kicked my chair.
05:14I kicked your chair.
05:15No, you did.
05:16You smashed it.
05:17I don't know.
05:18It's just...
05:19Liz, there's this whole discussion.
05:21Is she scary?
05:22Is she frightening?
05:23Should we be scared of Liz?
05:24No, I don't think so.
05:25I don't think we should be scared of Liz.
05:26I don't think she's a scary person.
05:27I wouldn't want to mess with Liz.
05:29Yeah.
05:29I wouldn't want to be on Liz's wrong side.
05:32I would, like, I just...
05:33I wouldn't want that to love her.
05:33And we met Liz and I got such great vibes from her.
05:36Warm vibes.
05:36And so motherly warm.
05:38Yes.
05:38So it's very hard to watch her in these scenes.
05:40And like we said before,
05:41I just think it's a misunderstanding.
05:43Like, clearly, something maybe we didn't even see on the show
05:46tipped her off to, like,
05:47this person is going against me.
05:49This person can't be trusted.
05:50And, like, personally, if I can't trust someone,
05:52I kind of act the same way.
05:53I'm like, please, like, I don't want you in my space.
05:55I don't want the negative energy.
05:56So I think she felt something that possibly we missed.
06:00Yeah.
06:00And that's...
06:00I mean, that's the...
06:02Unfortunately, the issue with reality TV
06:03is that there are so many characters on a show
06:07and there's only so much time and so much story
06:09we can fit into an episode.
06:11So I think you're right.
06:12I think there is something that we're missing here,
06:13probably some context that will be maybe discussed
06:16at the reunion where Liz can sort of say her piece
06:19and explain more why she was so activated
06:22in this situation.
06:24I do wonder if she and Joelle...
06:26Like, I would love to know how they're doing today.
06:28I'm trying to remember back to the premiere party.
06:30Did I see them interacting?
06:31Were they cool with each other?
06:32I can't remember them interacting.
06:34I feel like...
06:34I mean, I didn't go to the premiere,
06:35but from all the videos,
06:37it seemed like they were all just excited
06:38to have their moment.
06:39Yeah.
06:39It didn't give the vibes that, like,
06:42they were bringing the fighting
06:43to their first Bravo big event.
06:46Totally.
06:46Yeah.
06:47I hope that they're okay.
06:48And if they're not,
06:49I hope they can make things okay at the reunion
06:51because there is history there.
06:52And I know that both girls really do care
06:54about the friendship,
06:54despite what Liz says.
06:56You were friends with Joelle
06:57and you have to accept it, Liz.
06:59Okay.
07:00Also in this episode,
07:02there's this amazing scene
07:03with Kelsey and her boyfriend, Bill,
07:07where she and Bill kind of
07:09sort of declare in front of their fitness trainer
07:13that they are official,
07:15that they are boyfriend and girlfriend.
07:16And I don't think Bill expected
07:18to be put on the spot quite like that.
07:21Would you call us official?
07:23Of course.
07:25Say it with integrity.
07:27Of course, baby.
07:29But, I mean, thank God he was
07:32because it seemed like they had
07:33some sort of, like,
07:35unfinished conversations to figure out.
07:37I don't know what you think about Bill and Kelsey.
07:39I think they're so cute.
07:40I think they're cute
07:41and I think he has valid concerns
07:42about the money and her situation elsewhere.
07:47Yeah.
07:47Why do you agree with Bill in this situation?
07:51Because, as we know, her ex,
07:55he's not a sugar daddy,
07:56but the man who funded her extravagant lifestyle
08:01and let her have a boyfriend on the side,
08:04she has since dropped him
08:06and she moved out of the 16,000 square foot mansion.
08:09She's living on her own,
08:10but he is still paying her health insurance
08:13and her car payment.
08:15Which, like, I get.
08:16Like, health insurance is so expensive.
08:17Right.
08:18And, like, I don't blame her for taking that on,
08:21but it's, like, at some point,
08:23you just gotta let it go
08:24and you'll make it back yourself.
08:26Right.
08:27But just continuing,
08:28it reminds me almost of, like,
08:30the Brianna chicken fry,
08:31like, taking the money.
08:32Oh, yeah.
08:33And how she didn't take the money
08:34and her life would have been so much easier
08:36if she had just,
08:37I think it was, like, $12 million.
08:38Yeah, it was a lot of money,
08:39which is, you know, it's tempting.
08:40Like, it's so hard.
08:41Yeah, it's so tempting,
08:42but I do think that if she says no to the money,
08:45more will come her way.
08:46And she's already gonna become a star from the show.
08:49Oh, totally.
08:49But it needs to be cut off at some point.
08:51Yeah, and that's what Bill was saying.
08:52He was like, look, like,
08:53you ended things with him.
08:54You need to, like, completely cut ties.
08:56He was saying it's not even your car
08:58because he's the one paying for it
08:59and, you know,
08:59you need to pay for your own health insurance, etc.
09:02What she mentioned was,
09:04well, you don't want to pay for it
09:06and why would I not accept this gift?
09:08Like, if someone can pay for it.
09:09And in some ways, I understand the logic,
09:12but I think you're right.
09:13I think that if she just decided
09:15to cut things off completely,
09:16you know, you either sink or swim in those situations.
09:18And, like, Kelsey's gonna swim.
09:20She's not gonna sink.
09:21And whether or not Bill is paying
09:23for her health insurance,
09:24like, she's gonna figure out a way to make it work.
09:27And then, like, she won't feel indebted to someone.
09:30Yes, that's the point here.
09:31That she feels indebted to this person
09:33and she can't move on with her life
09:35if she's continuing to take payments.
09:37Right, it's like she's gonna be a little bit stuck
09:39and then I understand Bill's frustration and concern
09:42that, you know, maybe their relationship can't move forward
09:44because, like, how are you gonna get married
09:46and have babies with someone
09:47when your ex is still paying your health insurance
09:50and paying your car note and all this?
09:52Anyways, but I do love to see more of Bill on my screen.
09:54I just think that he is so cute
09:55and I really, really do like them together.
09:57And I also really like Kelsey,
09:59but as much as I like Kelsey,
10:01I love Rosie and I love the scene
10:02where she was with Rich's family
10:04and the way that his family loves her,
10:08especially her father-in-law.
10:10I'm like, I'm so obsessed with him.
10:12And the way, do you know, I really,
10:13I like the way that, I forget his name,
10:15but he was such a cutie, the father-in-law.
10:16The way that he was, like, low-key pressuring her
10:20to have children with Rich,
10:21but also making it clear that he understands
10:23it's her choice if she wants to have a family or not.
10:27I mean, nothing really incredible happened in that scene.
10:29I just thought it was really cute.
10:30And it's nice to have those nice familial moments
10:34peppered in a bunch of explosive drama.
10:37So it's like, it's a nice break.
10:39It was a really nice break.
10:41I'm trying to think what else happened.
10:42Oh, Rula.
10:43Rula.
10:44Oh my God, Rula La.
10:46Do you know what?
10:47Dani was mentioning the other day.
10:48It's so funny how, like, Rula,
10:49there's been all these memes,
10:51like she's the first housewife
10:52to, like, establish a work from home.
10:54Yes.
10:55Housewife lifestyle.
10:56It's, and it's kind of true.
10:58Like, she only shows up to film
10:59when she feels like it.
11:00Like, she's never there with the group.
11:02It's always very much isolated.
11:04This time she was filming a scene,
11:06a nice lunch scene with Liz,
11:07where they got together to talk some s*** about Joellen.
11:10And for Liz, that's the person to talk s*** with Joellen about
11:14because, obviously, Rula hates Joellen
11:17because Joellen is the one sharing all these videos
11:19and all this information about the alleged mistress
11:22that Brian has.
11:22But it's like, shouldn't Rula be happy?
11:24Like, hello?
11:26I know.
11:26It's giving, like, Countess Luanne,
11:28Circo, whenever that was.
11:30It's about Tom.
11:31Totally, totally.
11:32And for whatever reason,
11:33she doesn't want to accept
11:34what seems to be the truth about her marriage.
11:37I get it.
11:38Like, she has kids.
11:40She wants to protect the family.
11:41Yeah.
11:41For whatever reason,
11:42she has committed to sticking with it.
11:45And I guess at some point,
11:48you just, if you're Rula's friend,
11:49you just gotta support that
11:50if that's the choice that she's making.
11:51Yeah, if she doesn't care,
11:52they kind of have to stand down.
11:54Right.
11:54Right, I guess so, right?
11:55Because it's like, okay, she knows.
11:57So now it's, this is not.
11:58It's up to her.
11:59Like, you can't do anything.
12:00Like, she knows what's up.
12:01But she is seemingly trying to deflect
12:04from the brine of it all
12:06by saying in her confessional
12:07that she hears that Joellen
12:08is unfaithful to her husband.
12:10Which, the concept of trouble in paradise
12:14has come up before with Joellen
12:16and her husband.
12:17I guess, not really trouble in paradise,
12:19but just these rumors about them
12:21being sort of, like, polyamorous
12:23or having threesomes
12:24or, you know, bringing others
12:26into their bedroom
12:28that has been discussed before.
12:30And I think she has even gone on to say,
12:32yeah, we, like, we kind of played around like that
12:33at the beginning of our marriage,
12:34but we don't do that anymore.
12:35So she was, like, owning it
12:36and getting in front of it.
12:37So, but now Rula seems to be, like,
12:39bringing up some sort of...
12:40I mean, it's like revenge.
12:41Yeah, like, clearly...
12:43But it's just, like, nobody's business.
12:45Yeah.
12:45Even as a Bravo fan, like,
12:46I don't care about this.
12:47Like, I feel like we can move on.
12:49Yeah, I know.
12:50Joellen versus Rula,
12:51it's a tricky situation.
12:52I feel like, again, I do...
12:55I don't know if I'm, like,
12:55some sort of Joellen apologist.
12:57Forgive me.
12:57Yeah, I love her.
12:58I love...
12:58Honestly, I do really like her.
13:00I like Joellen.
13:00I think she's an iconic housewife,
13:02a formidable force on reality television,
13:04like, perfect for casting.
13:06She's been so amazing so far.
13:08But I do think that she came in peace originally.
13:12I think she was like,
13:13Rula, look what I found.
13:14Like, wake up, mama.
13:15I think she continues to come in peace.
13:17Yeah.
13:17And people are committed
13:18to misunderstanding her.
13:19Yes.
13:20There's a dedication
13:21to misunderstanding Joellen
13:22for whatever reason.
13:23I think that maybe it's her...
13:26She sort of has, like,
13:27an alpha energy to her.
13:29She has a strong, forceful attitude
13:32and approach to sharing information.
13:35Like, her delivery is so, like, bam
13:38that I think maybe that is what
13:41unnerves some of her castmates,
13:43where if she was more delicate
13:45and demure, kind of like Alicia in a way,
13:50I feel like it would land better.
13:53Yeah.
13:53But I don't want to say that
13:54to diminish Joellen in any way
13:56because you should continue
13:57to be the bold woman that you are.
14:00I just think that sometimes
14:01it's more palatable
14:02when people come in a little bit softer.
14:06But you know what?
14:07Baby, she was born this way.
14:08She's a bold-ass girl.
14:09She gives me, like,
14:09Bethany Frankel a little bit.
14:11Where it's, like, hard truth said
14:13in a very abrupt way.
14:15Yes.
14:16But if you actually break down
14:17what she's saying,
14:18it has a lot of merit and truth to it.
14:20Oh, totally.
14:20It's abrupt.
14:21It's abrasive.
14:22It's, like, in your face.
14:24But this is, like, important information
14:26that she is sharing
14:27and I don't think she is sharing it in vain.
14:29I really don't think she,
14:30at the start of all this,
14:32I don't think she began
14:34talking about Rula's marriage
14:35and sharing these videos, etc.,
14:37photos, whatever,
14:39to hurt Rula.
14:40Like, I really think
14:41she was trying to help.
14:42I think that Rula's decision
14:45to not interact with it
14:47or not accept it
14:48or just, you know,
14:49her level of unappreciation
14:51for it all
14:53probably made Joellen upset.
14:54She was like,
14:55girl, I'm just trying to help you.
14:57Yeah.
14:57And so then I think that
14:58it sort of, like,
14:59backfired on Rula.
15:00Rula, what she should have done,
15:02she should have just been like,
15:04okay, oh my god,
15:04thank you so much.
15:05Like, this is very helpful
15:07and then just never brought it up again.
15:08Yeah.
15:09It's like, even if she didn't appreciate it,
15:10acted like she appreciated it
15:11because then it probably
15:12would have just, like,
15:13quieted down.
15:13Or say, like,
15:14I'm going to think this over.
15:15Like, this is a lot for me
15:16to go through.
15:17Yeah.
15:17But I kind of want to deal
15:18with this personally.
15:19But, like,
15:19I really appreciate you telling me.
15:21Right, exactly.
15:22I know.
15:22It's an interesting game
15:24that Rula is playing.
15:25I think we are,
15:26even though we haven't seen
15:27much of Rula
15:28throughout the season,
15:29not as much as the other ladies,
15:30it seems like we're going to see
15:31a whole lot more of Rula
15:33as the season progresses,
15:34as we get closer
15:35to the finish line
15:35because there's that whole
15:37legal situation
15:39with the tracking devices
15:40on the cars
15:41and the cops
15:42and the this and the that
15:43between Rula and Brian.
15:44So, we are waiting
15:47with bated breath
15:47for all of that
15:48to play out.
15:49And I can't wait
15:49to see Joellen's reaction
15:51to all of that.
15:53It must feel really good.
15:55But then again,
15:56Rula and Brian,
15:57like,
15:58IRL,
15:58today,
15:59present day,
16:00that they're dedicated
16:01to each other,
16:03tracking device drama
16:04or not.
16:05But I also think
16:06they're smart enough
16:06to know that this is
16:07a reality TV show.
16:09So, like,
16:09what we were saying before,
16:10like,
16:10stand down.
16:11They know this is
16:12their first season,
16:13Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
16:14They want to,
16:15like,
16:16they all want to be stars.
16:17Yeah.
16:17So, I think that...
16:18Even Brian.
16:20Because, like,
16:20if he didn't want
16:22to be a star,
16:22why would he subject himself
16:24to all of this scrutiny?
16:26How stupid could you be?
16:27Like,
16:27knowing that he has
16:29an alleged mistress
16:29on the side,
16:30knowing that this is
16:31going to come up
16:32in conversation,
16:32I think there's a part
16:34of him that's very excited
16:35by the cameras.
16:36Which is scary.
16:38See, it's scary.
16:38It's giving, like,
16:39Wes Wilson a little bit.
16:40Oh.
16:41Uh-oh.
16:42Brian,
16:43that is the worst thing
16:45you can say about someone
16:46right now.
16:47No,
16:47like,
16:47kind of like what
16:48Lindsay was saying
16:49at the reunion.
16:49Like,
16:50you're so good.
16:51Yeah,
16:51right,
16:52yeah.
16:53Oh,
16:53God,
16:54Brian getting...
16:55Compared to Wes.
16:57Sorry,
16:57Rula.
16:58Damn,
16:58it just gets worse
16:58and worse for Rula.
17:00Anyways.
17:01But you're happy
17:01in that situation.
17:02That's great.
17:03That is great.
17:04Yes,
17:05congrats to you,
17:06Rula,
17:06for marrying
17:07the Wes Wilson
17:09of Rhode Island.
17:11Oh,
17:11my God.
17:11Anyways,
17:12we will keep you posted
17:13on what happens next.
17:14Rachel,
17:14thank you so much
17:15for filling in for Danny.
17:16Thanks,
17:16I had the best time.
17:17Yeah,
17:17the best time,
17:18even if...
17:19Well,
17:19I guess Rula
17:20is having the best time
17:21in her marriage.
17:21She seems to be having fun.
17:22Yeah,
17:22they're all having fun.
17:23They're just not getting
17:24each other,
17:25which is what we love
17:25in the housewives.
17:26Yes.
17:27All right,
17:28stay tuned for next week,
17:29guys.
17:29Bye.
17:30Bye.
