00:00Great to be here at Schuyler, a tremendous, tremendous middle school, and just concluded a very engaging conversation with students
00:09and teachers about the effect of our, now at the end of our first school year, at the end of
00:15our cell phone ban, which is bell to bell, the largest state in America to have done this, and I'm
00:21really, really proud, especially as I hear the results from teachers and students, better than we expected.
00:25In fact, today I'm announcing we had nearly 600 educators conclude that 80% of the respondents rated the policy
00:34successful, and given what I heard over a year ago about the anxiety around this, I'm delighted to see that.
00:4176% said it was positive behavior, such as attention, respect for their peers, and following directions, all good things
00:48for our young people to learn, and they said 76% said improved student engagement overall.
00:55So teachers and students are on board, and again, I really probably could talk about that at the end of
01:01our very first school year, when we had a complete bell to bell cell phone ban, actually all distracted, all
01:07digital devices as well.
