00:00On this day in space
00:02In 2011, NASA's Space Shuttle Endeavour touched down safely for the final time at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida,
00:09after spending 299 days in space throughout the course of its 25 flights.
00:14Endeavour was originally built as a replacement for the Shuttle Challenger,
00:18which was lost in the 1986 accident that also killed its seven astronaut crew.
00:22Congress authorized the construction of Endeavour in 1987, and the orbiter first blasted off in 1992.
00:28Its final launch occurred May 16, 2011, sending a six-member crew into orbit on NASA's STS-134 mission.
00:36Their mission delivered the Express Logistics Carrier 3,
00:39and the $1.1 billion Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer to the International Space Station, or ISS.
00:46Endeavour had many successful missions during its run, one of the most famous being the start of the construction on
00:51the ISS.
00:52The 1998 mission delivered the U.S. Unity node,
00:55which is the passageway that connects the working and living modules,
00:58and joined it to the Russian Zarya module, already in orbit.
01:01This connection led to it becoming an international space station.
01:04Currently, Endeavour sits in the California Science Center in Los Angeles as a year-round exhibit.
01:09And that's what happened on this day in space.
01:16And that's what happened on this day in space.
01:17Now, it's not the history of the mission of the universe.
01:17This is to be the ghost airline, which is the kind of ship.
01:17In space, I think of the ship, the ship.
01:17It's the kind of ship.
01:17It's the main ship, and it's the main ship.
