00:00Let's now continue on topic with Colombia's elections. We are now joined by Juan Gabriel Carlos Rivera, Master's Degree in
00:07History and founding member of the Vanguardia Colombian Group. Welcome, Juan, to From the South.
00:15Hello. It's a pleasure to be here.
00:18Juan, it's a pleasure to have you once more. So, the election day is almost coming to an end. We
00:23are in the final hour of the presidential election in Colombia.
00:26Over 40 million Colombians have been called to participate in this electoral process. How would you describe the electoral process
00:33as a whole?
00:35It's a very, very polarisation situation in this moment in Colombia because the actual candidates, there is a confrontation between
00:55the right and the left. There is no other form.
01:00For example, Iván Cepeda versus Abelardo de las Piedras are the most popular candidates in this moment. The election in
01:13Colombia are very, very, very popular. There is a very important participation in this moment.
01:24I live next. I live next. I live next a place to the elections are be doing. And in this
01:41moment, there is still very much people who participate in this rotation.
01:51In one hour, the place will be closed. This is because these, these, these, these, these votations are very important
02:06for the future of the country. And there is an open dispute in between the right and the left in
02:17this moment in Colombia.
02:20Juan, and what is the main issues that are influencing voters when they go to the polls today in Colombia?
02:28There is very much issues in this moment. For example, the, the, the security, the, the violence in some territories
02:41of Colombia and state territories. There is a very bad opposition against the, the actual government of Sabo Petro in
02:56some part of Colombia. And this is a reality who we are living today in this moment. The people, the,
03:10in different parts of the country are very terrible,
03:17because it's a terrible situation because the different illegal groups are doing in this country. That is the real reason
03:29for this actual polarization in this moment in Colombia.
03:35Juan, and there's always, there's been a lot of denunciations of foreign interference in the Colombian process, as with the
03:42Honduras gate scandal when it came out, revealing the, the participation of the United States
03:47and Israel in this plot to destabilize progressive government in the region, starting with Honduras and Ecuador. And there were
03:54also talk about Colombia and even Mexico next year. How has that influenced the electoral process?
04:01Juan, well, uh, the interference of the United States in our pro in our process of, uh, election, it's, uh,
04:12openly, the, uh, Donald Trump government is openly interfere. He, these, uh, actual situation right now. Uh, per, for example,
04:24is the use by the, uh,
04:26uh, as to ב he is, uh, uh, of throughout the period of sect in uh, uh, in all
04:47of what, uh, uh, uh, uh, in court Middle
04:56moment because the politics and other alliance with illegal groups in this moment, the United
05:08States and the oligarch media are doing this because they are interested in continuing and
05:23transforming the whole political landscape of this continent. South America, the plan of
05:36United States is to modify the whole political landscape of South America and Colombia is the
05:49next target of this political try to United States. That is obvious. The other candidate, the most
06:03popular candidate of the Reich parties are Abelardo de las Priella. Abelardo de las Priella,
06:10Colombia's political ideals are totally in favor of the United States and Israel's government. He
06:29said publicly that Colombia and Venezuela will follow up the instructions of the United States
06:41government. That is a real situation of these actual candidates right now. The election will be a fight
06:54between the sovereignty and the attack against this sovereignty. That is the real question here.
07:05Thank you very much Juan for your time here with us in From the South.
07:10Well, thanks for calling me. It's a pleasure.
