Sunderland City Council has approved plans to expand electric vehicle charging points across parks and public destinations. The scheme is fully funded through regional transport investment and aims to support cleaner travel across the city.

00:11procurement of a single charge point operator. A report sets out 12 locations across the city,
00:18including parks and community destinations. The programme is funded through a North East
00:23grant linked to mayoral transport settlement funding and will cost no money to the Council.
00:29Officials say a charge point operator will be appointed to install and manage the network.
00:35Sites include Herrington Country Park, Washington F Pit and other leisure and heritage locations.
00:41Councilors say it supports net zero goals.
