There is something special about this van, Not only is it a new EV Van.. It has some technology that could finally break the regulators back to bring the Tesla Cybertruck to the UK. @yiannimize does this now fix your Cyber-Problem? :)
Other than that, here are my thoughts on Geely's new UK Van!

00:05Hello and welcome to Gone In 60 Seconds. We are here today with a van. And yes, it's an electric
00:11van. This is by the company Verizon. You may not have heard of them, but don't worry because I'll tell
00:16you a bit more about them later.
00:17But there is something really, really important about this van that affects all other new vehicles coming to the UK.
00:26Something really important that might even see the allowance of the Cybertruck to come to the UK. So stay tuned
00:35and find out a little bit more about that later.
00:37But first of all, let's have a look around this and have a look inside and we'll take it for
00:42a drive and see what it's like. And I'll tell you if you should buy one.
00:46Now, the first thing to point out about this van is the sort of chin across the front with the
00:51light up Verizon badge. That's what makes it stand out and makes it look quite cool.
00:56It's obviously black. And in this colour, I think it looks very smart and quite futuristic with this section here.
01:03Otherwise, it's almost unremarkable. It's just a van looking van.
01:08Obviously, this is the H2, I think. So it's slightly bigger. But the great thing about this is the amount
01:16of stuff you can get in the back of it.
01:18But I think where it really makes a difference, other than this, is what's on the inside.
01:25So from this side, you can see you've got nice big chunky handles.
01:30The most important thing about this van, I think, in terms of its shape and the way it's built, is
01:36the absolute size of this side door.
01:39The side opening into this is massive, which means you can actually sideload a pallet in here.
01:45So if you're working in tight spaces, that could be an absolute game changer for you.
01:51The space in here is obviously massive and it's obviously quite van-like. It's exactly as you would expect.
01:57But the fact you can sideload a pallet in here, I think, is a real big bonus.
02:03The fact the handles are nice and chunky too, means you can even open them if you've got your gloves.
02:09From the back, you can see it's got great big barn doors, nice flush handle on the back, and it
02:15just opens as you would expect.
02:21Importantly, there's no lip here at all.
02:23So again, if you're just loading in pallets or whatever, it's going to be pretty seamless and easy.
02:29It's a very good space and a very usable vehicle.
02:33I'm sat in front of the Verizon super van.
02:35And one thing I did want to touch on, and I think it is extremely important, is why this van
02:41is actually a game changer.
02:43I mean, because in reality, it is just a van, another van.
02:47And it's an EV, which is cool, obviously. I think that's great.
02:50We do need to convert van drivers to EVs, but we need to make them have good enough range and
02:57be suitable enough for all of their uses.
03:00This does tick a lot of those boxes.
03:03But the big game changer with this is the fact that the steering isn't actually connected to the wheels.
03:12No, no, no.
03:13This is steer by wire.
03:15And steer by wire means it's not physically connected.
03:18The electronics in this work out how much you're turning the steering wheel and apply the correct amount of steering
03:24to the wheels itself.
03:26And this is a big bone of contention because up until extremely recently, this has not been allowed in the
03:32UK.
03:34In fact, if you watch Yanomars' videos, you'll find out that that is the big reason why they weren't allowing
03:41him to register his Cybertruck here.
03:43But now it's here and there's a Lexus coming very, very shortly as well that has the same technology.
03:50So surely this means it has been approved.
03:52Otherwise, someone sneaky, sneaky got past the government with this.
03:56But this means it is approved.
03:58So what this van actually means is an awful lot more because it is the start of something new.
04:05It's the start of this new technology being allowed here in the UK, which means you are going to be
04:10able to see people registering their Cybertrucks once they've made the additions with their lights and their bits and pieces.
04:16But that is an absolute game changer because all this new tech coming to the UK is a huge, huge
04:25thing.
04:27So we're going to have a look inside the Verizon super van.
04:30And first thing to note on the doors, you've got absolutely loads of space.
04:34You've got massive space there for a big bottle and a space there for some other bits and pieces.
04:38A small little cubby there for your car suites.
04:41And then your handle is kind of reassuring.
04:43You've got a key in there and you've got your window buttons and mirror buttons here.
04:49And a nice chunky grab handle as well.
04:52Again, that's quite easy to use if you've got gloves and stuff.
04:55Now inside the van, you've got this kind of leathery upholstery and you've got the three seats across the front.
05:03Belkhead is all metal of course, but you've got this kind of light coloured, almost knitted fabric upholstery on the
05:12roof lining.
05:13Now as we go across the inside and we have a look around, it is very car-like in here.
05:19Now this is all plastic, but it is kind of hard wearing, easy to clean plastic, which is kind of
05:24cool.
05:25But if you look around, you've got this beautiful orangey kind of look trim across here, which I think really
05:31pops and makes it stand out.
05:33Then in here, you've got your big infotainment screen across the middle and a screen in front of the driver.
05:39You've got some touch buttons here.
05:42We'll go into all of that in a minute.
05:43Down in the middle, you have a drawer, which has got a little cubby space there and a space for
05:49your cup and coffee or whatever.
05:51A couple of USBs, so you've got USB-A and USB-C down here.
05:56And then you've got a drawer kind of, I don't know, what do you call it?
06:01A little, then you've got another cubby here, which is quite handy.
06:07It's kind of putting all your bits and pieces in.
06:10And then down here, you've got your 12-volt socket on the floor.
06:14Great thing about an EV van is that the floor is completely flat.
06:18As you can see, I've got my charging cables on the bottom there.
06:21And if you look here, you do have a decent-sized glove box.
06:25You can see it's quite big because you can get a decent-sized book in there.
06:28And of course, you've got your high-vis and everything in there as well.
06:31So this is a really big space and there is loads of little cubbies to hide things.
06:40So up here, you've got your SOS button and your lights, of course.
06:45But let's have a look at what happens when we turn it on.
06:47So, of course, it's going to be quite quiet because it is an EV.
06:53So you've got a temperature here.
06:55You've got which gear you're in over here.
06:58The factory will be ready.
06:59Your miles per hour in the middle.
07:01Any warning messages come up over here.
07:03And then your speed goes up and down here.
07:05You can see how many miles you've got left on your charge over here.
07:08And your total trip data across the bottom.
07:11And how many miles the vehicle has done in total down there.
07:13So loads of information right in front of your face.
07:16And it is really easy to see straight through the steering wheel too.
07:20You've got real buttons on the steering wheel.
07:21Buttons for your cruise control here.
07:23And buttons for your media on this side.
07:26Including what looks like a heated steering wheel button on there.
07:29So that's kind of handy.
07:30We do love a heated steering wheel.
07:32We've got some buttons over here for your drive mode.
07:36Lane keep assist, etc.
07:38All very, very handy buttons.
07:40Then if we come across to the middle.
07:42I always love it when you've got real buttons.
07:44So that's definitely very handy.
07:46You've got a nice toggle for up and down on your climate.
07:49You've got your recirculation, your air conditioning.
07:52All your heating buttons.
07:54Really nice and simple to use.
07:56Parking brake there.
07:57Auto hold is just a button to slap there.
08:00And it is all very nice and easy.
08:02We like that a lot.
08:03This is just a little LED screen here.
08:07Now if we look on the infotainment display.
08:09It is nice and refreshingly simple.
08:12You've got what radio you're listening to in the middle there.
08:15Any media information here.
08:17And then you can connect to Android Auto and CarPlay there.
08:21Push the phone button.
08:22And you get information like what you're connected to, etc.
08:27Push the middle button.
08:28You've got climate.
08:30So again, it's all very simple and very easy to use.
08:33Nothing too stressful.
08:36And the fact you've got the touch buttons when you're driving makes it much, much simpler.
08:40Button there for your radio.
08:41So you can just switch along what you want.
08:43There's a program guide for the different radio channels, etc.
08:46And if we push on car, we go into all the settings for the vehicle.
08:50So you've got your intelligent driving settings.
08:53Automatic emergency braking for collision warnings.
08:56Alarm sensitivity.
08:58Speed limit reminders.
09:00All these kind of things.
09:01You can toggle them on and off in this menu.
09:05Lights.
09:05You can set up your light information on whether you want your continuous illumination, etc.
09:10Door locks.
09:12Rear side radar assistance.
09:13You want that on.
09:14So all of these bits and pieces are in there.
09:17So it is a very simple system to use.
09:20Not an awful lot to get your head around.
09:22Other thing I wanted to point out is your stalks.
09:24So on this side, you've got your wipers and your lights.
09:27And on this side, you've just got one that switches between your drive mode or driving gear, should I say.
09:35Nice and simple on there because you don't have to fiddle around down here trying to switch or select.
09:39So that is very simple.
09:42If you want to change your height of the steering wheel, you can change it for rake, but you can't
09:49change it for reach.
09:50You can't move it forwards and backwards.
09:51So it is literally an up and down.
09:53If you go down to the lowest setting from where I see it at five foot nine, it does obstruct
09:58my view a little bit.
09:59So, of course, depending on how high you are, I would suggest that you try one of these before you
10:05buy one just to make sure it does work for you.
10:10Right, so you get in the Horizon Supervan, plug yourself in, put on the brake, push the start-stop button
10:15and it will just start up around you.
10:17I do like the feeling in here.
10:19It does feel a bit more car-like, but it's nicely trimmed.
10:23I think it's all quite hard-wearing as well.
10:25So it feels like it's going to last.
10:26To drive, all you need to do then is push your indicator store, your stalk, down into drive and then
10:34just go.
10:36It's that simple.
10:39So actually getting in and driving this thing is remarkably easy, even considering its size.
10:47You obviously feel that size, but your view around is actually really, really good.
10:54But you can see all around you with the massive mirrors and then you've got reversing cameras.
11:02And the cameras are actually really, really decent quality in here, all showing up on this brilliant touchscreen in front
11:09of you.
11:10And I find them really useful.
11:12They pop on when you indicate as well, which just makes manoeuvring this thing really, really easy.
11:20And, you know, it is a bit of a barge.
11:22It's quite large, isn't it?
11:23So you would expect it to be a little trickier and it's just not.
11:31Because it's an EV, it's got fairly decent pickup.
11:35It's not too much.
11:37And if anything, when you're moving up onto the motorway, it is a little bit sluggish, which is surprising for
11:44an electric vehicle.
11:44But again, it is heavy.
11:47It's two and a half tons.
11:49And it is, let's be honest, vans are shaped like a brick, aren't they?
11:53They're not the most aero efficient of vehicles.
11:56So, you know, that does make a difference.
12:02However, the one thing I would say about this, and I don't, you know, I'll always try to be as
12:10positive as I can about everything.
12:12But the steering in this just does lack a bit of response.
12:18The steering wheel is not completely light or devoid of any feel.
12:26It's just not really predictable.
12:31And I, it's not like it's unsafe or anything.
12:35It's just when you turn a wheel in a car that has the steering wheel linked to the axle via
12:44a steering column,
12:46there's an exact science to it.
12:48You know how much you need to turn the wheel for the car to turn.
12:50In this, it does feel disconnected.
12:54And I mean, that's pretty good because it is disconnected.
12:58But it does feel it.
13:00And that is slightly unfortunate because it does not give you the feedback you want as a driver.
13:06Again, I think it's something you can absolutely get used to.
13:13But I think it's something that as this technology grows and becomes more prevalent,
13:20it's going to get better and better and better.
13:24And the weighting of the steering is something that these guys have been working on for a very, very long
13:30time.
13:31You know, across the whole industry, if you drive a Tesla Cybertruck, it doesn't feel so disconnected.
13:37That's for sure.
13:44But otherwise, it's not a terrible turning circle.
13:49In fact, it's surprisingly good.
13:51And again, that's because of the disconnect.
13:55What this does is allows cars and vans to be packaged slightly differently.
14:00So the wheelbase isn't directly connected to where the steering wheel has to be and the steering column has to
14:05be.
14:05Which is an absolute bonus in terms of packaging, design, etc, etc.
14:11And it can give you more space to play with down with your legs and all that sort of thing.
14:16So you can see the absolute benefits of this.
14:24But again, so maneuverability in this thing is actually quite good.
14:29And I've already talked about how good the cameras are.
14:32You do have wireless CarPlay and Android Auto on here, which again is super standard nowadays, but not always a
14:40given.
14:41It is useful that you also have your USB so you can charge everything when you're going.
14:46Anyway, I do dislike the lack of exposed cup holders.
14:51If you want to put your cup in, you do have to open the drawer and have it in there.
14:55And then again, there's only one.
14:57So if you've got a crew in here, if you've got a couple of passengers, they've got no edge of
15:02their cup.
15:02But then they're not driving, so they can hold it, can't they?
15:09Last thing about this car, this van then, is the brakes.
15:13As with some EVs, they can be just a little bit grabby.
15:17Again, it's something you get used to when you are pushing your foot on the pedal.
15:23You absolutely get used to it, but sometimes it does feel a little bit jerky and a little bit grabby.
15:30But other than that, heated steering wheel is a bonus.
15:34Thank you very much, Verizon.
15:36I do enjoy this van and I love the interior.
15:39So there are lots of things I really do like about this van.
15:46Five things I love about the brand new Verizon Supervan.
15:50Number one, it has to be the space in the back.
15:54It's absolutely huge.
15:55It's a very big van and it's very good at doing van things such as carrying stuff.
16:00Number two, it's the size of this side opening.
16:03It's absolutely huge, which means you can get a pallet straight in the side there, which is fantastic.
16:08Number three, if you look at these mirrors, they're massive.
16:11The view as you're driving this thing is absolutely brilliant.
16:15You're sat really high up as you'd expect in a van, but your view for manoeuvring is brilliant.
16:21Now, number four, it has to be this interior because I think this interior looks brilliant with the orangey accents
16:29and the way it's all trimmed out.
16:31I think it looks really, really good.
16:34And number five, it has to be the real physical buttons for climate control,
16:40which just make life much easier when you're driving, especially if you've got gloves on.
16:45So, as promised, just wanted to give you a quick highlight of who Verizon are.
16:49Now, they are part of Geely, which is China's largest vehicle manufacturer.
16:55Geely are well known.
16:57They build Polestar's.
16:59They build Volvos.
17:00They build Lotus.
17:02They also have their own brand now coming here in the UK.
17:05So you can buy a Geely car now.
17:07So Geely are absolutely huge and they have a great backup, loads of dealers, a really good network.
17:14So Geely are an automotive powerhouse and Verizon is just their van, their commercial kind of arm, if you like.
17:25So they know their stuff when it comes to batteries and vehicles.
17:29So if you're buying one of these, you're not just buying some unknown brand, which is really, really reassuring.
17:35Now, if we look at the configurations of the Verizon SV, if you get the standard, which is length one,
17:43height one,
17:44the 67 kilowatt hour battery, then that's 45 grand.
17:48You can choose an 83 kilowatt hour battery, which is bigger, and that's 48 grand.
17:52And the difference between batteries is an 83 kilowatt hour battery will give you 234 miles,
17:58whereas 67 will give you 188 miles.
18:02If you jump to the one we've got today, which is the length two, height two, it's obviously a much
18:07bigger van.
18:08That 67 kilowatt hour battery gives you 214 miles.
18:13Of course, that's in ideal circumstances.
18:15That's WLTP.
18:17If you pick the bigger battery, then it's 51 grand, and it's still 214 miles.
18:25I think that's probably a glitch, is it?
18:29Yeah, it doesn't change.
18:31I think the website might be broken there.
18:34But anyway, you've got your dimensions here.
18:37The battery, 83 kilowatts, as we can see.
18:40Just try that one more time.
18:41Yeah, it just doesn't change, does it?
18:42But 30 minutes charge time, 20 to 80%, 214 miles max.
18:47Payload is one and a quarter tons.
18:51Length over five meters, and your height, and all that information is on the website too.
18:56It tells you how much it weighs, etc.
18:59Six body color options.
19:01Styling, you get the illuminated grille, 16 inch wheels across the range, really.
19:07Black faux leather, and the screens are as standard in all versions.
19:13Optional extras are the color options.
19:16Rear trailer system, so whether you have a tow bar or not.
19:19270 degree rear door hinge, so you can get wider opening hinges.
19:24Window compartment partition.
19:26Single co-pilot seats, so instead of having the two, you can just option the one.
19:30And vehicle to load, you can add in as well.
19:32So there's all the bits and pieces, and as you can see, if you get the 67 kWh battery, L2
19:39-H2,
19:39the one we've got today, it's £48,000 plus VAT.
19:45So, it is time to conclude.
19:48And whilst this is an extremely practical van, it does have a half decent range.
19:55200 miles on a very good day, I think, isn't too bad, and will probably suit most use cases.
20:03It does feel as if it's slightly pinned back a bit by some of the things that actually make this
20:11stand out.
20:12So, I think the steering by wire is great.
20:16I think it's going to be brilliant in some vehicles, but in this, it just doesn't feel quite right.
20:20You don't necessarily feel the connection that you feel.
20:24And you can tell, because you know that's what it is.
20:27You can tell.
20:28It's not quite giving you the right response that you need when you're driving.
20:35Other than that, it's extremely practical.
20:37It is a good place to sit inside the cab.
20:41It feels good.
20:43It's comfortable.
20:44And it's a good drive.
20:47So, should you buy one?
20:48If you're looking for a big, practical van with this kind of range, then absolutely.
20:52It is a good van to buy.
20:55It's got a decent range, and there's quite a lot to like about it.
20:58And I do love the styling.
21:00The steering, you can absolutely get used to it.
21:03I think it just takes a bit of getting used to.
21:06But other than that, this is the start of the future.
21:12Tell me what you think of the styling in the comments below.
21:16Please do like and subscribe.
21:18It really helps me to make more of these.
21:19Thank you very much for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.
