00:00All I heard was that Iman said I should be a designer. I forgot that you guys want me to
00:04go home.
00:05Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most glorious moments on Drag Race
00:11when a queen's self-perception and reality were on completely different planets.
00:15Derek is a little bit delusional. Like, can you honestly look at that and say, like, oh, I'll wear this
00:20in Vegas?
00:21It looks like a middle school scrapbook.
00:24Number 20. Kine.
00:26Kine's disco-inspired runway look in the very first episode of Canada's Drag Race didn't turn out how she had
00:32envisioned.
00:33I went for the Yukon Gold Digger Box.
00:36Ornament.
00:37I'm thinking I can do disco diva fantasy.
00:40I design and sew pretty much all of my looks.
00:43They all come out of this head.
00:45She created an outfit adorned with small golden balls along the hem, but they began falling as she walked.
00:51Attempting to stop them disrupted her movement on the runway even further.
00:54When guest judge Alicia Cuthbert criticized the look, Kine defended it as a strong choice.
00:59The outfit, unfortunately, it gave me a lot of, like, Christmas vibes.
01:04Not my favorite look tonight.
01:05What's my favorite look tonight?
01:07Even when the other judges pointed out that the look was safe, Kine first acknowledged it was new for her
01:12before quickly insisting that it was her signature look.
01:14I felt like I had gone outside of my box with these bald bottoms.
01:19I've never had to do pants like these before.
01:21Okay, that's fine, but bring it up a notch and don't be afraid to really go beyond.
01:26You want to say something?
01:27Yeah, I did.
01:27This is a very quintessential silhouette for me.
01:30The look landed her in the bottom three, although she ultimately avoided elimination that night.
01:36Number 19, Vivian Panay.
01:38Once again, I'm in a team with Roxy Andrews.
01:42I don't like being paired with her.
01:44I just don't.
01:45I don't like her energy.
01:46In the episode that would ultimately be her last, Vivian Panay spent a significant amount of her confessional energy talking
01:52about Roxy Andrews.
01:54Specifically, suggesting that Roxy might feel threatened by her.
01:57Roxy wants all the eyes on her, and I'm really waiting for the moment where she kind of messes up,
02:04even though she's still in my group.
02:05There was just one problem.
02:08Roxy barely seemed to register Vivian's existence.
02:11And honestly, can you blame her?
02:12Roxy had a much more pressing concern in the form of Jinx Monsoon, who was quietly dismantling the competition one
02:19week at a time.
02:20The contrast between Vivian's internal narrative and how the competition actually unfolded was frankly hilarious to witness.
02:27Unfortunately, with Drag Queen, sometimes they take on this persona because they're not happy with themselves, and I think that's
02:33exactly what's happening.
02:34And I don't have the time for it.
02:38Imagining yourself as someone's biggest rival when they don't even know you're there is a special kind of delusion.
02:44Number 18.
02:45Trixie Mattel
02:46Few queens carry as much wit and self-awareness as Trixie Mattel, which is exactly what makes this one so
02:53delicious.
02:54Heading into Snatch Game on All Stars 3, Trixie was brimming with confidence about her RuPaul impression.
02:59In my season, I was so sad because I didn't get to do Snatch Game, and I wanted to do
03:03RuPaul in front of RuPaul so bad.
03:06And every time I do RuPaul in front of people, they think it's hilarious.
03:08She likes dad jokes like I do.
03:10She likes puns, bad jokes.
03:12She'd be great.
03:13I'm winning the challenge.
03:13You sound real confident.
03:15I am.
03:15And why wouldn't she be?
03:16She knows Ru personally, and she's done the impression before.
03:20So it should have been a layup.
03:22Except it wasn't.
03:23The performance fell completely flat, and it was made all the more cringeworthy because RuPaul was right there judging her.
03:29Thank you so much, my dear.
03:31As we say in the industry, winner, winner, chicken dinner.
03:38Trixie landed in the bottom as a result.
03:40The cruel irony of choosing to impersonate the host of the very show you're competing on and still bombing is
03:46almost poetic.
03:48Almost.
03:48First thing you did when you landed with the American CD, that was funny.
03:52Yeah.
03:52And then I didn't laugh, like, the whole time.
03:55It was one note literally through the whole thing.
03:59Number 17, Monet X Change.
04:01Look, we adore Monet X Change, truly.
04:04But in the premiere episode of season 10, her sponge dress could have justifiably landed her in the bottom.
04:10My look is very conceptual, and there's like a whole story with the dirt in my eyes, and I have
04:16ping pong balls to make little soap suds, and I have blue earrings to signify the water.
04:22It was merely a simple piece of fabric with a clutter of yellow and green sponges scattered around.
04:26During Untucked, the other queens called her out on the dress.
04:30But Monet was completely unbothered, absolutely convinced the look was a serve.
04:34I don't know why they don't get it.
04:35But I feel like I'm telling a story.
04:38I love this look a lot.
04:39I feel like it's fierce.
04:40And for these girls to really make fun of me, it's shady.
04:43Here's the twist, though.
04:44She wasn't entirely wrong to hold on to that delusion.
04:47Monet has since built an entire brand identity around the sponge and found a way to milk it dry.
04:52So maybe the real lesson here is that if you commit hard enough to the bit, reality adjusts itself around
04:59you.
05:09The irony of this one is particularly rich.
05:12On season 15, Mistress Isabel Brooks was practically the ambassador of calling out Lucy LaDuca's inflated self-perception.
05:19And I think that I carried a lot of the scenes that I was in.
05:24Lucy, if you think you're perfection, there might be a case of drag delusion, girl.
05:29Fast forward to All Stars 10, and it was Mistress who began sipping the delusion Kool-Aid.
05:34For The Snatch Game, she portrayed reality TV star Natalie Nunn, a performance that was one note, relentlessly aggressive and
05:42sorely lacking in comedic range.
05:44How many times have you been arrested?
05:45I've never been arrested because I run L.A.
05:48They can never keep me down.
05:49You can't keep a bad bitch down.
05:51And let me tell you something, sweetie.
05:52I know everybody.
05:54All I gotta do, call a pit bull, and it's a wrap.
05:57Despite everyone's underwhelmed response, Mistress remained convinced she had placed well.
06:02She hadn't.
06:03Do I think I was the best?
06:04No, but I think I was up there.
06:05Do you think you were the second best?
06:06Probably third, fourth.
06:07Third, fourth?
06:08I would say.
06:08In the end, the bottom two came calling, and Mistress narrowly avoided elimination.
06:13There's something almost Shakespearean about the queen who best identified delusion in others, becoming the most vivid example of it
06:20herself.
06:21Number 15.
06:22Miss Fame.
06:23Season 7 wasn't always kind to Miss Fame in the edit.
06:27She was depicted as a queen who seemed perpetually lost in her own world.
06:31You know, I've not been to this place before, so I'm trying to, like, be funny.
06:37I just don't know what's better.
06:37Should I not talk about my feelings, or should I just, I mean, obviously just keep moving on?
06:41Oh my god, I feel like I'm dating you.
06:43RuPaul's repeated attempts to get Fame to engage with the now-iconic how's-your-head question became something of a
06:49running gag,
06:50with Fame consistently retreating into abstract musings rather than connecting with what was actually happening in front of her.
06:56I've said that to you several times.
06:58How's-your-head?
06:58The answer's been roaming around, but you have to listen.
07:01So I'm going to ask you again.
07:03Miss Fame, how's your head?
07:07Fine.
07:10Are you kidding me?
07:12The bitter old lady brigade, the alliance consisting of Kennedy Davenport, Ginger Minj, Jasmine Masters, and Mrs. Kasha Davis,
07:20wasn't shy about poking fun at Fame's constant references to her brand and aesthetic either.
07:25You have to kind of go through discovering what your aesthetic is.
07:27Everybody's talking about the aesthetic.
07:29Girl, please, honey, find one.
07:34They don't even know who they are yet.
07:36There's being artistically driven, and then there's being so deep in your own vision that you forget there's a competition
07:41happening around you.
07:43Number 14.
07:44Chanel.
07:45I am amazed at myself.
07:48I had my hand, really, in a lot of the entire package of what we did.
07:53In my mind, I've already won.
07:57Before Delusional Queen became a recognizable drag race archetype with its own fan lexicon,
08:03Chanel was quietly laying the groundwork.
08:05Throughout season one, she consistently pushed back against the judges' critiques,
08:10operating from a place of unshakable certainty that she was performing at a higher level than they were giving her
08:15credit for.
08:16Week after week, when we come into an elimination round, I am so negatively critiqued.
08:23Nobody can expect to be positive if you are continually getting negative.
08:28Everybody is always being told how gorgeous and how beautiful they are.
08:33Nobody on the panel, because I pay attention to this, have told me that I'm beautiful.
08:37The vocabulary we now casually throw around, the edits, the reads, the she-thought-she-was-that-girl commentary,
08:44wasn't fully formed yet.
08:45But looking back, Chanel fits the profile almost perfectly.
08:49She's the original blueprint, the prototype Delusional Queen,
08:53and she honestly deserves some credit for trailblazing the tradition so early.
08:58When RuPaul announced that Rebecca had won the challenge, I was devastated.
09:04I feel like I should have won that challenge.
09:07Number 13. Discord Adams.
09:09There were early warning signs of Discord Adams' delusion, like in the season 18 premiere,
09:14when she turned to Cardi B and genuinely asked whether she had done well,
09:18seemingly unaware of how that read to everyone watching.
09:20So all of my sisters thought I was going to be in the top,
09:24so can I know what you thought about me?
09:28You kind of wear something that I will wear, so yeah.
09:31I like it.
09:32Bitch! That was my goal!
09:35But the moment that really crystallized things came much later during the design challenge
09:39when the queens worked with materials from eliminated contestants' wardrobes.
09:43Discord incorporated safety pins into her look,
09:45which her castmates questioned as being outside the official materials,
09:49but she remained completely unfazed by their opinions.
09:52I also will echo what Juicy said.
09:54The safety pins were not in Mandy's box,
09:55and not every single one of those safety pins is holding that garment together.
09:59Oh!
10:02So I would say Discord.
10:03Instead, she anchored herself to the one positive note she got from guest judge Iman,
10:08who has praised her design sensibility.
10:11Selective hearing is a powerful thing.
10:13All I heard was that Iman said I should be a designer.
10:16I forgot that you guys want me to go home,
10:19because Iman wants me to be a designer.
10:21Number 12. Silky Nutmeg Ganache
10:24Bold declarations have consequences,
10:27and Silky Nutmeg Ganache learned that the hard way on season 11.
10:30Early in the competition,
10:32she announced with full conviction that if she landed in the bottom two,
10:35she would have demolished the lip sync.
10:37If I would have listened for my mother f***ing life today, bitch,
10:41I was mother f***ing ready!
10:44I was ready to do so!
10:46It was the kind of confident statement that practically writes its own punchline.
10:50When Silky eventually found herself in the bottom two,
10:53she faltered badly.
10:54The only reason she survived was that Nina West struggled just as much,
10:58so RuPaul decided to send her home.
11:08To Silky's credit, however,
11:10she later proved the declaration wasn't entirely hollow,
11:13as she delivered a series of incredible lip syncs on All Stars 6.
11:25But season 11, Silky?
11:27She was, in fact, not ready.
11:30Number 11.
11:31Derek Barry
11:32Derek Barry's confidence has always been a signature trait,
11:35so much so that it's sometimes read as delusional.
11:38During the book ball,
11:40she strutted out wearing a showgirl-inspired paper look
11:43she wholeheartedly believed was so good it was museum-worthy.
11:46I'm very happy with it.
11:48I'll wear this again.
11:50I would be amazed if they were like,
11:52can we put this in the RuPaul Museum?
11:54Because it's so pretty.
11:57Oh my god.
11:59Derek is a little bit delusional.
12:00When she told this to her castmates backstage,
12:03they genuinely couldn't believe their ears.
12:06The judges also weren't convinced,
12:08and Derek landed in the bottom two
12:09and was sent home shortly after.
12:11Derek Barry,
12:13you came here as a Vegas headliner,
12:16but you leave an international star.
12:21Stronger.
12:22Than yesterday.
12:23Later on All Stars 5,
12:25Derek was equally sure her impressions routine would wow judges,
12:29but it flopped hard and sent her packing immediately.
12:32I thought that it was successful,
12:34and the audience was laughing.
12:37Of course, I could have slayed it as Britney and won, but...
12:40I thought you were doing Britney the entire time.
12:42I swear to you.
12:43There's a pattern forming here that's hard to ignore.
12:46Every time Derek publicly crowns herself before the judges can,
12:50the universe responds with a swift and decisive correction.
12:54Number 10.
12:55Sasha Bell.
12:56Honestly, she may have been onto something here.
12:58Sasha Bell entered the competition believing that she had cracked the code to winning the show.
13:02I feel like I've cracked the code.
13:04Hey girls, what's going on?
13:05I'm the next drag superstar because I've done my homework.
13:09To her, that most likely meant knowing exactly what to do to check Rue's boxes.
13:14Unfortunately, her plan did not align with her actual experience.
13:18She found herself in the bottom in the very first episode,
13:21after misunderstanding the assignment.
13:22You're doing a nude illusion.
13:24Why are you showing huge black undergarments?
13:27I think I was confused by the assignment.
13:29Well, to be fair, all of the girls were told the exact same thing.
13:32Things did not get much better from there.
13:35The next week, she found herself in the same predicament,
13:37and her journey was cut short by Katya.
13:39Had Sasha just been herself, she could have had a better chance.
13:43The code she was speaking of could exist,
13:45but it seems that hers got lost in translation.
13:47I'm disappointed.
13:49I think I overthunk my strategy,
13:53and I was going for the win,
13:55so it sucks getting cut short.
13:57Number 9.
13:58Valentina
13:59Being delusional does not have to be a negative quality.
14:02There are some queens whose fantasies make them even more iconic.
14:05No one proves this more than Valentina.
14:08So you think I could go home tonight?
14:11Manila might want to send me home.
14:18After her run on Season 9,
14:20she returned to All-Stars with a new outlook,
14:22that what went on in her head should have been happening in real life, too.
14:26This led to a delightful string of episodes
14:28where she was unapologetically feeling herself
14:30and firmly standing by the fantasy her mind had created.
14:34Being that there were two girls that were ready to send me home last week.
14:37Oh, wait.
14:38Do you have some feelings about that?
14:39Sending me home doesn't make sense with my fantasy.
14:42It also resulted in her being genuinely confused
14:45when judges had critiques for her runways
14:47or when she lost challenges.
14:49But it didn't take away from her charm one bit.
14:51I didn't agree with that bottom,
14:53and I don't agree again.
14:55I've been doing very well.
14:57During this challenge,
14:58all of those judges were laughing at my jokes.
15:01Number 8.
15:02Laganja Estranja
15:03Coming into the game with an immense level of confidence
15:06is a tricky line to walk.
15:07Some, like Valentina, make it hilarious,
15:09while others come across as fake.
15:11Laganja Estranja struggled with this during her time on Season 6.
15:15My name is Miss Laganja Estranja, honey, darling.
15:19Laganja, y'all know tea.
15:20Come on, Natch!
15:22Laganja.
15:23Irritating.
15:24Young.
15:26Foolish.
15:26Throughout the competition,
15:27she masked any insecurity with delusional confidence.
15:30It still slipped out occasionally
15:32from complaining about the amount of comedy challenges
15:34to being upset that her friend was succeeding.
15:36It was most obvious in her infamous stand-up set.
15:39From her performance,
15:41you can tell she thought she ate it up
15:43when the reality showed the opposite.
15:45Can I get an amen?
15:47Now, y'all, I am a tree hugger
15:49because if it ain't green,
15:51huh, I'm not interested, okay?
15:54Come on!
15:58She's luckily made a full recovery
16:00from her case of drag delusion,
16:01but not before it led her to snap on screen.
16:04Well, how am I supposed to feel in this moment?
16:07Laganja, I didn't want to make it
16:08that everybody was attacking you.
16:10Yeah, I feel very attacked!
16:12Relax, relax.
16:13Number seven, Kennedy Davenport.
16:16The most delusional moments on the show
16:17have a way of becoming the most memorable.
16:20In season seven's Death Becomes Her Runway,
16:22Kennedy Davenport took the stage in an outfit
16:24that made her resemble a bedazzled fowl
16:26rather than a person.
16:27After a night of hooking,
16:29I got attacked and thrown in the fire
16:31and crystallized.
16:33So I come out a fierce, glamazon drag queen, honey.
16:38What made the bizarre look even better
16:39was her explanation for it.
16:41She had concocted a whole backstory
16:43about a woman who met a tragic fate,
16:45but then crystallized instead of dying.
16:47Trey didn't like the session,
16:50so he had good at me.
16:51Okay.
16:52And set me on fire.
16:54Oh, I see.
16:54But you know I didn't die.
16:56Okay.
16:56I had crystallized.
16:58Oh!
16:59And now I'm a glamazon bitch,
17:00ready for the runway.
17:02She even doubled down on it in Untucked,
17:04making it clear that she was standing by her choice.
17:06It was obvious she had thought she killed it,
17:09only for the other queens and the audience
17:11to think otherwise.
17:12I'm sick of it, girl.
17:14I'm just sick of it.
17:15I wish them judges called them out on it.
17:18Number six, Q.
17:19It's always sad when a truly talented competitor
17:21succumbs to a case of drag delusion.
17:23One, two, three, four.
17:26We got the power.
17:31No, you're not ready for my power.
17:35Woo!
17:37Wow!
17:38Despite making it to the top five on season 16
17:41and winning two challenges,
17:43Q is mostly remembered for her less realistic moments.
17:46All throughout the season,
17:47she was unapologetic in expressing her feelings
17:49on how she thought the challenges should have gone.
17:51Because I didn't, I love you,
17:53and I didn't want to take away from you winning,
17:55even though I still feel like it wasn't deserved.
18:00Bitch, what?
18:01From telling Safira that her win in Corporate Queens
18:03was undeserved,
18:04to explaining why she should have won the ball over Nymphia,
18:07she wasn't afraid to make her opinions known.
18:09Because my outfit was all unconventional materials,
18:13and also I got like perfect critiques,
18:16and I don't think like Nymphia did.
18:20It was sad to see,
18:21especially for a contestant that was genuinely doing well.
18:24She let her own unrealistic desire for continuous wins
18:27cloud her experience,
18:29and it did not make her come across well to fans either.
18:32Number five, Serena Chacha.
18:34You're just like so immature.
18:36It's just really aggravating.
18:37I'm sorry, you're only 21 once,
18:40and you only auditioned for this thing once,
18:42being 21 and getting right away once.
18:44A college education is important,
18:46but it's not the be-all, end-all,
18:48especially when it comes to drag.
18:50Serena Chacha came onto the show
18:51believing that her art school background
18:53would give her an edge.
18:54Just turned 21, just graduated art school.
18:56I do performance art.
18:58Performance art?
18:59Do you sew?
19:00Yes, but there is a new art movement called soft sculpture.
19:04She proved almost immediately that would not be the case
19:07after nearly going home on the premiere episode.
19:10The next week in Untucked,
19:11her delusional sense of superiority came out
19:14when she proclaimed that the slang the others were using
19:16had to stop.
19:17I'm sorry, at this point,
19:18the ghetto lexic and language is gone.
19:27No, she better don't.
19:29She then made things worse for herself
19:31by implying that none of the other contestants were educated.
19:34She was swiftly called out by several other queens
19:37and then sent packing.
19:38It's proof that education means little
19:40if you don't have the experience to back it up.
19:43All of you are is because you guys are really
19:44our talented-ass group.
19:46But you're here with us, so are you.
19:48We're all in the same caliber.
19:50Except for Serena.
19:53Number four, Joella.
19:54She may not have lasted long on season 17,
19:56but she made an impact.
19:58Joella's delusion was bubbling under the surface
20:00from the very beginning,
20:01especially when she hyped up her abilities
20:03before serving an adequate talent show.
20:05I'll conquer the world one stage at a time
20:08and leave all the haters trying to steal my stride.
20:12It, O, E, but don't forget that I love.
20:15However, it fully reared its head
20:17once she got backstage to Untucked.
20:19If she wasn't confusing the rest of the contestants
20:22by referring to herself as a local legend
20:24or a look queen,
20:25then she was offering her unsolicited opinions to others.
20:28I'm really scared for the girls back home to see this
20:31because in L.A., I'm literally known for my looks.
20:35I'm known to be opulent.
20:37These sincere yet bizarre instances
20:39led to her becoming an unexpected favorite on the season
20:42and were proof that you can delude yourself
20:44into becoming reality TV gold.
20:46I feel confident in the fact that
20:48I'm gonna be here next week.
20:52Okay.
20:53I wish it wasn't you I was going up against.
20:56Number three, Lucy LaDuca.
20:58When discussing delusional queens,
20:59she's often one of the first that fans will think of.
21:03I'm very, very upset that I was not on the top.
21:06I'm surprised and annoyed.
21:11I think that I did extremely well in this challenge.
21:14Season 15's Lucy LaDuca had plenty of talent,
21:17but unfortunately could not take it
21:19when someone else's was noticed.
21:21She made it clear just how infuriated she was
21:23when she placed anywhere below the top
21:25in that week's rankings
21:26and then walked it back after being called out.
21:28When you were on that couch
21:30just complaining about being saved,
21:31I was just like,
21:32shut up.
21:34I had one moment of being a little upset
21:36and I don't understand why it's kind of being blown out of proportion.
21:39You said, and I quote,
21:40I am f***ing angry.
21:41She also inflated her own statistics
21:43by counting her mini challenge wins
21:45along with her main challenge ones.
21:47It even caused her to get into multiple fights
21:49with her competitors.
21:50Lucy, how many wins do you have?
21:53I have two main challenge wins
21:54and three mini challenge wins.
21:58I don't know if mini challenges count.
22:00It was a shame to see
22:01given that she did well throughout the competition.
22:03However, she eclipsed her own hard work
22:06with moments of overconfidence,
22:07making it hard to root for her.
22:09They said that it was too simple
22:11compared to what they've come to expect from me.
22:13Sure.
22:14That is different.
22:16Yeah.
22:17Number two, Alexis Michelle.
22:19You know a queen is delusional
22:21when she ignores her own success.
22:23I know Kris Jenner
22:24and I think you embodied her.
22:25I just want to be your best friend
22:27because of that performance.
22:28Bitch, you turned it out.
22:30But on this main stage,
22:32it could not be more basic.
22:34Even after giving an outstanding performance
22:36as Kris Jenner in Reality Stars, the musical,
22:39Alexis Michelle fixated on critiques on her look
22:41before making them the other contestants problem.
22:44She forced everyone to gather around
22:45before chastising them
22:46for not telling her to wear something better.
22:48I've helped many of you on other days.
22:51Did nobody think to say to me,
22:53girl, what are you doing with that dress?
22:55Because I think I'm not going to win today
22:58because of this dress.
22:59Her tirade went on for several minutes
23:01and even prevented those actually in the bottom two
23:04from practicing the lip sync.
23:05Her overconfidence ramped up from there.
23:08It all culminated in a moment
23:09where she told Shay and Sasha
23:11that she took them choosing her to go home next
23:13as a compliment,
23:14since she was fierce competition.
23:15I actually take the two of you picking me
23:18as a compliment
23:21because I think y'all know
23:22that I'm fierce competition
23:24and it would be convenient
23:26to get rid of me tonight.

23:45Where are you, my love zone here?
23:47Say the word and I'll appear.
23:49I wrote this song just for you
23:51to tell you what I always knew.
24:00Number 1.
24:01Milk
24:01This is f***ing ridiculous.
24:03I hate this.
24:05You think you should have been a dog?
24:06Yes.
24:07That's three?
24:08Really?
24:10It's f***ing stupid.
24:12It's hard to see a good queen fall so hard.
24:15Throughout Season 6,
24:16Milk built a reputation
24:17as a talented yet overlooked contestant.
24:20When she returned for Season 3 of All Stars,
24:22it seemed that some of that positive attention
24:24had gotten to her.
24:25She felt slighted when she didn't win
24:27or receive positive critiques.
24:28She lashed out on stage
24:30and cried during Untucked.
24:31Two unnecessary reactions
24:33given that she was safe.
24:34I was in character the entire time.
24:38And to be standing on that stage
24:41and not be commended for it.
24:46When she was in the bottom in the bitchler,
24:48her attitude only worsened
24:49as she insulted those on the chopping block with her.
24:51To be in the bottom three
24:53with two queens
24:54that didn't give 100%,
24:56that were bulldozed
24:58by their obscene partner.
25:00And then there's me.
25:01I haven't made sense of it all yet.
25:03We're not sure what caused Milk to spoil,
25:05but we can only hope
25:06she gets another shot
25:07to redeem herself
25:08and her delusional side
25:09in another All Stars season.
