00:03these are what are sometimes referred to as ghosts of dead stars and while they all look
00:08a bit different they have a couple of things in common first they all reside within our galaxy
00:12but they're also all oriented the same way and they're not alone many other dead stars or what
00:17are called planetary nebulae have the same orientation as well but why well astronomers
00:22and astrophysicists aren't entirely sure but new evidence may be pointing them in the right
00:26direction according to a recent study the nebulae that are in a matching orientation all have binary
00:31stars with close orbits they now say that the only way to explain the similarities in orientation
00:36must have something to do with powerful magnetic fields the issue is that the magnetism has since
00:41weakened but the researchers say they must have been strong enough at some point to result in such
00:46pervasive similarities with the researchers writing quote until now we've had a lack of evidence for
00:51which of these mechanisms could be causing this process to happen and generating this alignment
00:55adding that now that they know where to look for these patterns they can learn more about the
00:59mechanisms of nebulae orientation
