00:01yeah so time to give you a little update on what's been going on in my life you guys aside
00:06from my friends getting arrested in long beach for open container which was amazing i almost
00:11just played the breaking news thing donnie breaking cancer news it's weird no listen but
00:18if you read my latest blog post which i put up on our website the andy summer show.com then
00:22you'll
00:22see that like i am so i was diagnosed a few weeks ago with breast cancer and um and it's
00:28a thing
00:29right like you get that call and she the the radiologist told me on the phone like okay what
00:35we found is definitely cancer and it's like that is it just rips your insides out because it's
00:41terrifying and you don't know right but like we caught it early i do i do my mammograms yearly like
00:48if you haven't scheduled years yet please get it done because early detection totally saves lives
00:54which is why i talk about it as though i stubbed my toe right like that's how i am approaching
01:00this
01:01i'm getting amazing care right um and i feel like when you're afraid to use the word cancer
01:08because it gives everybody the bad feelings that gives that word and that disease more power than
01:15i ever want it to have true so i'm not stopping like i'm i'm using cancer all the time and
01:22honestly
01:22i sometimes can use it to my advantage too right you know like when my son wanted me to kill
01:28a bug
01:28in the basement i was like buddy i can't have cancer i can't do this and then my husband said
01:34don't look at me my wife has cancer i have to take care of her right so leonard had to
01:38kill his own
01:39bug in the basement you know like this is the beauty of your journey thus far andy is you have
01:44been
01:44so open about your journey but also recognizing that not everybody is like you right yeah some people
01:51go about their diagnosis and their treatment in different ways for sure and this is just the way
01:56you choose to approach this diagnosis and i think it's commendable and there's so many different ways
02:02to go about it and i think it's amazing that you're sharing it and as light-hearted as you are
02:06as well
02:06thank you um you know it's interesting because when i when i went to get the biopsy so it turns
02:10out that
02:11in this radiology department they do biopsies at the same time so all the women who are in there
02:17waiting wearing our pink robes waiting for our names to be called we're looking around at each
02:24other and it's somber because we're all in there for the same reason like there we've got lumps and
02:29they think we have cancer we're not not a great feeling um so i went and had my my biopsy
02:36done and
02:37it took a very long time because i had four of them um and when i and but i'm like
02:42you know okay this
02:43is done now it was you know i watched the whole thing i learned a whole lot about biology and
02:47stuff
02:48and i'm coming out chatting with the nurse and i recognize one of the women sitting in the waiting
02:53room and we make eye contact and um and i was like hey how are you and she was like
02:59well not great
02:59because i'm here and i was like yeah you know this stinks and and i think it was at that
03:05moment that
03:05i thought this is not how i'm ever going to approach this right and and and not i don't mean
03:10to
03:10shame her at all for feeling as badly as she did about the situation that she was in because
03:15it is terrifying right like and and i don't know what else she's got on her plate um but i
03:21thought
03:21at that moment i was like nope nope i am she doesn't even know whether she has cancer or not
03:27and she's
03:28already like you know like holding the weight of the world on her shoulders and i thought i'm not
03:33doing it i'm just not doing that so it turns out she doesn't have cancer so bravo super happy for
03:39her
03:39like able to move on and i know that she's my prayer warrior right now and she has you know
03:44she checks in with me on the reg and she's praying for me and giving me strength and i'm feeling
03:49every
03:49ounce of all of that so i thank everybody for reaching out um i i hope that you're able to
03:54continue following my journey and and if it encourages you to do anything good for yourself
03:59it's to stay strong right be healthy make sure that you're getting your mammograms or whatever it is
04:05that you need to get checked guys i don't know what you need to be poked and prodded with
04:09yeah we have to get checked yeah yeah but you should make sure that you're getting that done
