A search and rescue operation is ongoing for a 9-year-old boy believed to have drowned after being swept away by the current in Sungai Bernam, Hulu Selangor, following an emergency call received by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department on Wednesday (May 27).

00:01A search and rescue operation is ongoing for a nine-year-old boy believed to have drowned
00:07after being swept away by the current in Sungai Burnam, near Kampung Sungai Nilam, Hulu Selangor.
00:13The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 1.40pm on Wednesday,
00:19with personnel from the Kuala Kubu Baru Fire Station dispatched to the scene approximately
00:2440km away.
00:26Operations Assistant Director Ahmad Mughlis Mukhtar confirmed that the victim, Muhammad Akif
00:32Imran Asrul Nizam, was swept away by the river current.
00:36On the first day, searches were conducted within a 1.6km radius of the scene.
00:41By the second day on Thursday, the search area had been expanded to a 3km radius from the
00:47point where the boy was last seen.
00:49Search efforts remain actively ongoing.
