00:15The start of another work week brought another NFL domestic abuse story, this time with the
00:20arrest of Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs on five charges tied to abuse complaints.
00:26And, while the names and allegations change, the story is all too familiar.
00:31A world-class NFL athlete, coach, or highly-paid administrator somehow is alleged to have manhandled
00:38a female.
00:39And before we go any further, allow this important stipulation.
00:43Not every allegation is true and not every accused person is guilty.
00:47The incidents are troubling in their misdeeds and numbers, and it begs the question, what
00:52is the NFL doing about all this?
00:54Where is the league that has since 2020 told us to end racism and inspire change as social
01:00justice initiatives bin on its most visible employees putting their hands on women?
01:05Where is the end domestic violence sign on NFL fields or on player helmets?
01:10It is nowhere, of course, because that would remind everyone the league, like the greater
01:15society it serves, has a problem.
01:18And doing that isn't high on the marketing department's list of things to do.
01:21But not highlighting homegrown domestic abuse doesn't make it less of a problem.
01:26Not even for a league otherwise busy sending other virtue signals that probably don't need
01:31as much attention.
01:32April 2026.
01:34Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashi Rice is sued by his ex-girlfriend, Dakota Jones,
01:40for $1 million after she alleged physical and emotional abuse spanning from 2023 to 2025.
01:47That case has not yet been settled or disposed.
01:50December 2025.
01:52Dolphins linebacker coach Ryan Crowe is fired after being placed on administrative leave following
01:57an August 2025 arrest on assault and battery charges against a female who lived with him.
02:04Prosecutors declined to file charges.
02:06August 2025.
02:08Offensive lineman Shaq Mason is arrested following an alleged violent altercation with the mother
02:13of his child at her Franklin, Tennessee, home home, during which he allegedly forced entry,
02:19choked the victim, struck her, and sent a threatening message.
02:23He was apprehended by local police during a traffic stop later that morning and held on
02:28a $150,000 bond, with orders for GPS monitoring and no contact with the victim.
02:34The NFL has even witnessed Congress investigate it, and one of its former owners, Daniel Snyder,
02:40about whether and how the league and the Washington commanders covered up decades of sexual misconduct
02:46against women.
02:47None of these include Jacobs.
02:49None of these include charges dropped when the alleged victims, some of whom depend financially
02:54on the man, later refused to cooperate with police or prosecutors, such as the recent James
03:00Pierce case.
