00:01Thousands of Kenyans gather to celebrate Eid al-Adha with communal prayers.
00:08Known as the Feast of Sacrifice, the Islamic holiday is observed by millions worldwide,
00:15symbolising faith, devotion and generosity.
00:19Markets, meanwhile, are busy as families purchase goats and sheep for slaughter.
00:23We slaughter because we commemorate the Sunnah of two Nabis of Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la.
00:33There, the Nabi of Nabiullah Ibrahim A.S. and Nabiullah Muhammad A.S.
00:39Why? Because this was initially a test that was given to Nabiullah Ibrahim A.S.
00:46when Allah instructed him through a divine dream to slaughter his only son.
00:52The four-day holiday is marked by joyful family gatherings, festive celebrations and children receiving new clothes and gifts.
01:05We are in a celebratory mood here today. We are celebrating Eid al-Adha.
01:10This is a festival sacrifice whereby God Allah instructs us to offer a sacrifice.
01:15So people are in a celebration. They are celebrating and shopping.
01:23The Eid al-Adha runs through to May 30th marking one of the most sacred events on the Muslim calendar.
01:30The four-day celebration coincides with the end of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca,
01:35bringing millions together in prayer, sacrifice and reflection.
01:39.
01:39Thank you very much.
