00:11Why Believers Should Work for God and Not Men. Ah we're gonna look at the text today. Now Solomon
00:21is showing us the reality under the sun meaning the realities of life and he's showing us a man
00:29who saves an entire city from danger and once the danger passes the city no longer even remembers
00:40his name they no longer remember this man and this is a great tragedy this injustice that we're looking
00:46at in this text is meant to be felt by us this shows us how the world treats people the
00:57world
00:57has a way of using people in crisis and forgetting them when peacetime comes and when they needed you
01:05they would use you they were there they were listening but now that they don't need you anymore
01:10the world has a way of forgetting people when we look at this text it's telling us where we should
01:17put our trust at this wisdom have I seen under the sun and it seemed great unto me there was
01:24a little
01:25city and few men within it and there came a great king against it and besieged it and built great
01:31bulwarks against it now there was found in it a poor wise man and he by his wisdom delivered the
01:39city
01:39yet no man remembers that same poor man then said I wisdom is better than strength nevertheless the poor
01:46man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heard this text is talking about a crisis that came
01:54upon a city and uh this poor man who had been in the city for a while suddenly gets some
02:01honor some
02:02temporary honor they the bible calls him a poor wise man he he's not rich he's not wealthy these things
02:08the world honors he wasn't honored prior to this but once the city is in great danger he comes under
02:13temporary honor uh-huh they're paying attention now they hear what he what what he got to say now
02:18because they were wanting what he has as long as this man is useful he's being honored but it's
02:26temporary honor which means it's not really honor at all what this man is receiving is not honor it is
02:33used
02:33the world will elevate you when it needs you and forget you when it no longer does and I'm not
02:42talking
02:42about everybody your family and your friends and there might be a few people here and there that
02:46that they remember you afterwards however we're talking about the pattern of the world the pattern
02:52of men when I need you I'm listening but when I'm not when I don't need you anymore uh you
02:56know
02:57I'm moving on and I forget everything that you did ah help us have mercy on us by teaching us

03:03this text is teaching us where we are to put our expectations our expectation our expectations should be
03:10in God because men forget but God always remembers now this this deliverance that this man had done
03:19for the city it had benefited everybody and the world will gladly accept deliverance from you it'll
03:26gladly accept help it'll gladly accept finances it'll take from you take from you take from you until you run
03:33dry but the problem with the world is it does not commit itself to remembering you after it is took
03:39took took
03:40took took from you once they no longer need you the world's not committed to keeping you in mind
03:44this forgetfulness that this world has in this text reveals the world's heart it shows us the hearts of
03:52men it shows us the heart of this world and we should feel how an injustice is and we should
03:59be asking
03:59ourselves if this is how the world treats people where should we place our hope the bible tells us in
04:06hebrews chapter 6 verse 10 that god is not unrighteous to forget your labor of love he's not unrighteous
04:13god will remember what you do for him colossians 3 23 and 24 says and whatsoever you do do it
04:21hardly
04:22as unto the lord and not unto men knowing that of the lord ye shall receive the reward of inheritance
04:27for ye serve the lord jesus christ it's telling us that whatever we do don't do it for men but
04:34do it
04:34under god because we because god will not forget and he will remember what you do not only that but
04:42god will reward knowing that of the lord ye shall receive reward of the inheritance uh knowing that i'm
04:50going to receive my word from god not from men when we work for men we chase recognition when we
04:58work for
04:59men we feel diminished when we're not noticed when we work for men we question sometimes when people
05:06don't notice us we kind of question why did i do this in the first place uh why did i
05:11do it they
05:12don't even recognize me i'm trying to be noticed i'm trying to be recognized all of that stress it takes
05:16away from your peace but when we do stuff unto god we know that god is righteous and just and
05:22he will
05:23remember us because his because justice demands it his righteousness demands that he pays attention
05:29his righteousness demands that he remembers for the word tells us so we know we don't have to be all
05:35worried and stressed and and all peace messed up because god didn't remember us we have to do that
05:41with men this is why we should work for god and not for men when we work for god we
05:47are free from the
05:49weary and stressed of not being remembered not being noticed not being thanked god will reward us in
05:55due time help us god to put our faith trust and worth in god and not in men amen
06:08many women of god let us keep on showing up in the word of god consistency builds us as we're
06:15consistently coming to god he reshaped our life and that's what we want him to do oh i'm praying
06:21for you guys i am praying for myself let us grow together
