00:02SpaceX pushed the Pentagon to pay more for Starlink satellite connections used on Lucas
00:07Kamikaze drones after U.S. forces launched a bombing campaign against Iran in February,
00:12according to CNBC. SpaceX argued the military was underpaying for Starlink service on the
00:18drones, saying usage aligned with a $25,000 monthly aviation tier subscription rather
00:24than the $5,000 it was charging. The Pentagon agreed to pay SpaceX's proposed
00:29price increase, almost doubling the per-unit cost of each Lucas drone from about $30,000.
00:36Tensions also emerged over a plan to provide Iranian citizens with direct-to-sell Starlink
00:41service, with SpaceX proposing a $500 million launch fee plus $100 million monthly.
00:47SpaceX did not respond to a request for comment. The Pentagon declined to comment on the pricing
