00:00Gracias.
01:40Matt Wusenum, The Athletic. Hi Oliver.
01:43What do the next 24 hours look like in terms of the final preparation, the final moments?
01:47Do you give the players a bit of free time to do anything in the morning or is it set
01:52out and structured and how does that compare to say the FA Cup final or the Europa League final of
01:57Eintracht?
01:59Yeah, tomorrow the day is longer than the FA Cup final day, because the final was at 4.30pm and
02:04tomorrow it starts at 9pm local time.
02:07No, quite relaxed, so for me it's everything we haven't done right now, everything we couldn't transport right now, we
02:15can't do tomorrow regarding the tactics we have.
02:17So we had a meeting today, we had already meetings last week, what we usually don't do when we play
02:25a league game, but we started showing the players via Cano last week.
02:29So we really watched many, many games from La Liga, from the Conference League, when they played against the back
02:40three, when they played against the back four, when they played, when they had more possession, less possession.
02:46So really to be prepared, this is what we showed the players.
02:51And so today, depending on the questions, we will go to the dinner, and then, I don't know what the
02:59players are doing, so they're all adults, and then they can spend the evening.
03:04I hope nobody goes into a bar, but I'm pretty sure they want.
03:09And then also tomorrow they can sleep quite long, it's a very long day, and we're having an activation, we
03:17always play head tennis,
03:18and this is one of the, to be honest, because everybody is a little bit excited, and me as well,
03:23and you know, and looking, and it's a long day.
03:25And then this 30 minutes when the players play head tennis is one of the best moments for me, because
03:33I see kids playing football.
03:36They have so much fun, everybody wants to win, but they are laughing and joking, and then I'm sitting there
03:42just watching and having a big smile,
03:44and then, and they always get a good feeling, how the group is, how the players are, you know, and
03:50I hope they're also laughing tomorrow and joking,
03:53and they're not calm and introverted, because they're nervous, because I think we, they should be how they are, they
04:01should be who they are,
04:02and then we have the best chance to show a great performance, and this is what we want to be.
04:06Of course, we will have a meeting, the players will hear the starting line-up, a small summary, and then
04:12it always feels like just eating, resting,
04:15eating, resting, eating, resting, and then we go into the stadium.
04:18Okay, we've got time for just one more, and then we need to go, I'm afraid. It's the gentleman right
04:22at the back.
04:23Hi, Adrian Durham.
04:24And fulfilling his job, but Daichi, yes, Daichi seems to be a player for big games, so very often he
04:33has, the bigger the game is, the better his performance is.
04:36This is, I know him now for, we worked together for four years now, two years at Frankfurt, and it
04:41was the Europa League final,
04:44he had a fantastic performance, also scoring a penalty, then when we played Champions League football,
04:50we had to win at Sporting Lisbon, he scored the 2-1, the penalty when we won, and we qualified
04:57for the round of last 16 in the Champions League,
04:59and he had a fantastic performance in the FA Cup final, so it seems that the bigger the games are,
05:05the better Daichi is,
05:06and hopefully he proves me right tomorrow.
05:10Thank you. Ryan?
05:12Hi, Ryan Taylor, Daily Mirror.
05:14A question for Oliver again, if that's okay.
05:16Have you allowed yourself, Oliver, to dream and visualize the prospect of winning tomorrow?
05:22Because it'd be quite an achievement, really, if you, to win the FA Cup Community Shield and a major European
05:28trophy.
05:29You know, it's almost unheard of for a club like Crystal Palace.
05:34No, I don't know why, but I don't think like this.
05:38I told the players today, I don't like to tell what I'm telling the players, but it was yesterday they
05:45had a nice farewell to me,
05:50and then I said a few words, and I said, for me, the best thing would be, of course, winning
05:59tomorrow,
06:00but not for winning tomorrow, because then they play European football in the Europa League next year,
06:06and then they get next year what we should have got this year,
06:08and then I said, I would like to watch on TV that they start the Europa League with the desire
06:15and the confidence
06:16that they can win the Europa League as well.
06:18This would make me really happy, because then I think we created a mindset all together
06:23that where at the end it's always successful, that doesn't mean that you win a trophy every single year,
06:28but at the end you will always get the best out of every single player and every single team,
06:38and that's why I hope that we win tomorrow, that these players can play European football next year again.
06:45That would be helpful, please.
06:47Ed, if you can put your hand up, you need the mic. Thank you.
06:52Hi, Albert. Dean said the other day that to win in the Conference League final
06:59would be a great way to finish the movie off for your career at Palace.
07:04What would it mean to you to win this season with another trophy,
07:08given everything that you've been through this season?
07:21It would mean a lot, but not for me personally, I think especially for the players, for the group,
07:29because I know how hard every single player, every single one in the staff worked throughout the season.
07:37It will be our 60th game of the season, and this would mean a lot for me that we then
07:44could have a fantastic ending to the season.
07:47But however, the game ends tomorrow, because it's sports, it's football, you never know.
07:52But I really enjoy it, and we all enjoy this journey together, and yeah, we will give our best to
07:59get the happy ending tomorrow,
08:01and this would be to win the game, of course.
08:08Oliver, we saw Adam Wharton and Chris Richards train today.
08:12Chris left training early. Are both players available to start tomorrow?
08:18I want to tell you if they can start or not, but they were available today in training.
08:23Yeah, it's, we've still, we said when we end the training, 36 hours to the start of the game at
08:31the medical department,
08:32we work hard until late in the night, and we'll start tomorrow, but at the end we will nominate the
08:40starting 11,
08:41even who is 100% fit, so if I will talk to them tomorrow morning again, and if the player
08:48doesn't feel 100% fit,
08:50or I have a bit of concerns, then they don't start.
08:53But the positive thing is that they could make the training without big issues, and of course they still have
09:00pain,
09:00but I think many players are feeling some pain after such a long season, and, but everybody wants to participate,
09:07and, but the final decision will be taken tomorrow.
09:09Okay, could you pass it behind, please, the mic? Thank you.
09:16Vlad Verpov of OcoSport, Oliver, good evening.
09:20Mike Lartete has recently won the Premier League, and will play in the Champions League.
09:25Unai Emery won the Europa League final.
09:29Tomorrow you will face Inigo Paris.
09:31All of them are from Basque Country or Pamplona.
09:34Do you believe in the Basque Lobby in the world football?
09:39Because they are everywhere.
09:42I will go there this summer, and then let's have a look what they are eating there,
09:46and because it must be something good.
09:48So, but probably Jeremy knows it better than his Spanish, and, but yes, they must,
09:54they are doing something really well, all of them.
09:58Also the clubs there, with Bilbao, Sinc Sociedad, playing international football, doing really well,
10:07and, but what is the secret is? Jeremy, the right man to answer.
10:14Thank you.
10:14After you announced you were leaving in January, there was a little bit of pressure from fans.
10:19You yourself raised the possibility of Crystal Palace maybe having another manager
10:24before the end of the season, but here we are.
10:26Did you ever think that you wouldn't make it here, and you wouldn't make it to the final game of
10:32the season as Crystal Palace manager?
10:34Would not? You ask for it, would not? I never think about, I always think positively, I try to.
10:45But when you play such a long season with so many games, there will always be some moments that are
10:51a little bit tricky, challenging.
10:54We had these moments probably in December, January.
10:59Yeah, it was some tough moments, but I knew as soon as we get the injured players back,
11:05and as soon as we do a few things in January, what the club did, we will be competitive again,
11:12and we will go, let's say, we will definitely stay in the league, in the Premier League,
11:18we will make getting enough points and can focus on the conference.
11:21Yes, this was always when we talked about it, and I think honestly, and I told this quite often,
11:29that there was more noise around the club than within, and let's say the most important ones are the players,
11:37and we always had a very close relationship even when the results were not what we wanted,
11:43how we wanted them, and on the other side is especially the chairman,
11:46and yes, we had some discussions, but that's completely normal.
11:48So, because it's, you know, if you always just agree to everything, so from both sides,
11:58you don't get the best out of a company, of a club and of the players,
12:02so if the player, I wanted the player to ask me, why should I do this, or say,
12:07no, I think probably something else is better, because this is then we raise our level,
12:14so if I'm telling a player and he's always just saying yes, yes, yes, yes, or it's the opposite,
12:20if somebody tells me and I would say yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, you know,
12:25then we always have flowers flying around the training ground, but we never win anything,
12:30so that's why we need also these conversations where we say, hey, I think it's the wrong decision,
12:37it's probably the wrong way, we have to change it, you have to change it, and I like if players,
12:43if staff members, if somebody of the club gives me a feedback and says,
12:49Oliver, probably, something, think about this, think about that, yeah,
12:55and then I think about it, and then I change my opinion, yeah, and this is where you,
12:58this is how development happens, and at the end, yeah, we are in the next final,
13:06so playing the second final in the second year with Crystal Palace, I think it's quite okay.
13:12Thank you.
13:13Good evening. Jeremy Esparati, la pregunta, y maledón del diario El Mundo.
13:18A question for Oliver, was Camada used only in the first half of the last match,
13:25because of tomorrow's game, and how important is Camada to Crystal Palace winning the title?
13:34Yeah, that is, it's very important, but like everyone, I don't want to praise somebody more than the others,
13:40because I would definitely know we will start with 11, and different 11 will end the game, yeah,
13:47so it also, and I, my last, or my only and last experience playing European final was going into penalties,
13:53and we had six substitutions, that means 60% of the starters are on the bench, and...
13:58So we've talked about the practice of supposed to model as beingrian's camp, and basically,
13:59by keeping you really CAN at any issues of ρ, and maybe just talk about,
13:59I bet I promise I was going to say that two times a stage...
