WOMAN CAPTURES PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF ELDERLY DOG IN TULIP WONDERLAND

WITH PIX AND VID

BY SHUK YEE TSANG

These breathtaking images show three dogs posing among endless pink tulip fields in an emotional sunset photoshoot created to treasure time with a beloved elderly dog on the verge of 15.

The stunning pictures were captured by Cat Race, 39, a professional dog photographer from Lancashire, UK, shot the moment in Yorkshire, UK.

The photographs were taken last May at Farmer Copleys in Pontefract, Yorkshire, as part of a personal project featuring Cat’s three beloved dogs, Poppy, Lily and Mabel.

Cat said she spent the entire day in the tulip fields, arriving in the afternoon and staying until after sunset as the light became increasingly beautiful.

The photographer explained that the shoot was especially meaningful because her elderly dog Poppy is now nearly 15 years old.

The dreamy images show the trio sitting among vibrant rows of tulips, with soft golden sunlight creating an almost fantasy-like atmosphere.

One of her favourite moments came after staff initially told them the fields were closing.

The professional photographer said many viewers online were convinced the images had been created using AI because of their surreal appearance.

Despite the magical setting, she said safety remained her biggest priority throughout the shoot because tulips are toxic to dogs.

Cat said: “I was absolutely on cloud nine. I live and breathe dog photography, so to be photographing my own dogs surrounded by this magical light was an absolute dream come true.

“The inspiration for this project came from knowing that Poppy’s time on this earth is limited. I want to capture as many precious moments as possible with her and my other two dogs together.

“I was drawn to the tulip fields because they are so soft, beautiful and pink, and pink just so happens to be my favourite colour.

“We begged the farmer to let us stay, and thankfully they kindly allowed us to remain.

“The very last shot I captured of Lily sitting in the little basket with the sun behind her became my favourite image from the whole day.”

"People are often shocked when they see the photographs. Many viewers actually think the images were created using AI, but they are completely real.

“When I’m working with dogs, the first thing I consider is whether they’re enjoying themselves. You can tell immediately when a dog is happy and I always want my subjects to be having as much fun as me.”

Cat has been photographing animals since childhood and founded CatsDog Photography in 2013, travelling across the UK and beyond to capture epic portraits of dogs in beautiful locations.

00:00I've got a special mission today. I want just one epic portrait of my three babies all together
00:05and I've pulled in my friend Holly. Come and help me film it. She's just pulled up. Look at that,
00:10that's a good timing. That's a good timing. Lily in that basket. Oh,
00:17look at the ears whelped in. I love how I've had these.
00:41Like 20 millionth time, this treat box has fallen off my leg. My spider holster dog's thing is great
00:50because three treats, look at how many to shoot at this rate. So I might do a couple on this
00:56which
00:56is perhaps more, that'll get that nice compression and bring all the tubes together a little bit.
01:01But my main thing is to get that super wide angle skyline spot. So I think I'm going to start
01:05over
01:05here because there's also this bright sun that's really making me squint right now. You are
01:10consistently a good girl on your heart. Be a good girl.
01:20Good girl. Come on then. Oof, good girl. Right, let me just practice this on Pops before,
01:28put the two in. Mabel's quite a wobbly dog. When I put her on stuff, she does wobble.
01:33Right, come on. Good girl. Stay. Come on, Lily. Good girl. Stay there. And Mableton. Stay there.
01:40Here then, girls. Ready. Oh my god, look, so cute. They are good models, to be fair.
01:55Come on, you beauty. You're a beauty.
02:01I'm just laughing at myself. Ready. Popsies. Oh, grandma's going to be so crap. Grandma's
02:09granddad. Good. Good girl. Okay, I still feel like, I really like how these are placed around
02:16here, but I still feel like there's a bit of dead space up there. I always thought maybe I could
02:20just
02:20photoshopped some more in there, but I don't know. I know Mabel. So this is what's kind of been
02:30worked here. I want to work this a little bit more, I think.
02:43Huh? Biscuit. Good girl.
02:49Wait, wait. Come and get it.
02:56My main mission is to get a decent, uh, photo of the girl. So, oh my god, my heart is
03:03like going
03:03dead fast. Do you feel that? You know when you've been told like I've only got a certain amount of
03:06time and I'm like, who's got my granddad's favourite? Oh, very good.
03:14Oh, Lily, you little squinter. It's a squinty.
03:20Very squinty babies.
03:34Lily, you grumbling. I'm sleeping, she says.
03:42You need me to sleep.
03:47I'm cute.
04:16AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
04:17I mean rows of beautiful colourful flowers and I love all the little features they've got as well, like the
04:23Ferris wheel, there's a mini window just over there behind me.
04:28They put effort in, I'm impressed, I'm really excited to take this photo.
04:53Something that is a real challenge for photographers is hard sunlight, like I've got today.
05:00This is hard from ideal so I will definitely be using my flash.
05:04My strobe is something that just stylized my work quite a lot, it's something I enjoy using, I like having
05:08control over the light and I like getting part of the results in camera.
05:13You know, I do edit my work a lot but it doesn't change an awful lot since I'm shocked to
05:18how it's edited, it's kind of like refining it.
05:27Okay, so I'm going to strike up in the basket over here, I'm feeling so stressed right now, I hate
05:31working under a time limit.
05:33Come on girl, come on, Lily, come on.
05:42Now I'm going to do this!
05:44Oh, Lily, come here.
05:54Hey KIT!
05:57We're back!
06:01Come, be it.
06:05Come and get her.
06:08Let's go.
06:37Let's go.
