Scam Interceptors - Season 6 Episode 12
Transcript
00:00Uh-oh.
00:01Three and a half grand's worth of iPhones in this man's basket.
00:03Today on Scam Interceptors...
00:06Oh, my God, send them, send them.
00:08We go after an Amazon scammer...
00:11Meet Abhishek Singh.
00:13Hack into his personal computer...
00:16We have absolutely everything on this map,
00:18including an actual home address.
00:20...and confront the criminal.
00:22Abhishek, do you think that it's acceptable to steal people's money?
00:26Who are you? Who have given you that information?
00:30What are you doing now?
00:37In the Glasgow hub,
00:39we've been closely monitoring a scammer for a number of weeks.
00:43Some overseas people have been stealing your Amazon account.
00:47We are listening in at the moment to a scammer
00:49who is in the suburbs of Kolkata in the eastern part of India.
00:54His name is Abhishek Singh,
00:56and right now he looks very much like
00:59he's got someone in his sight.
01:03Thanks to the access from our ethical hacker, Dan G.,
01:06we can see the scammer's computer screen
01:09and listen in to his calls.
01:12Right now, sir,
01:14I will simply try to stop the order.
01:17Abhishek really likes
01:19to try and run Amazon refund scams on people.
01:22He tells them that he's Amazon
01:24and that there's a problem with their account
01:25and that to confirm who he is,
01:27he's going to send them a one-time passcode.
01:29So he puts their mobile number into the Amazon website,
01:32clicks on forgot password,
01:33and sure enough, real Amazon sends them a text
01:35that has a six-figure code in it.
01:37If they then read that code to him,
01:38he's then able to take that code
01:40and access their account.
01:42Once he's in their account,
01:43he starts adding stuff to their basket
01:45and says to them,
01:45go on your Amazon account
01:46because someone's trying to steal your money.
01:47I will show you that order.
01:49Check in your shopping basket.
01:51Okay.
01:52Now, can you see any kind of Apple iPhone?
01:54Yep.
01:55All of this is just to create this idea
01:57that they need to receive a refund
01:59in the form of gift cards,
02:00which, of course,
02:00he's then going to get the codes of
02:02and spend himself.
02:04The team hear from the call
02:05that Abhishek is scamming a man called Peter
02:08somewhere in the UK.
02:10They can also see from the scammer's screen
02:13exactly what he has secretly added
02:16to Peter's online shopping basket.
02:19There's about three and a half grams worth of iPhones
02:20in this man's basket.
02:22We just need to try and pull him out of this now.
02:25Should we give him a call?
02:26Yeah.
02:27The team have Peter's phone number,
02:29but he's on it to Abhishek,
02:32so may not answer.
02:37Hello, this is Peter.
02:38If you'd like to leave a message,
02:39I'll get back to you.
02:42Peter isn't answering.
02:44But it's not just Abhishek's computer screen
02:47and calls that Dan G has given us access to.
02:51We've got his webcam,
02:53so we can literally see him scamming from home.
02:55Wow.
02:56Because we can control Abhishek's computer,
02:59Nick simply turned Abhishek's webcam on,
03:02allowing us the rare opportunity
03:05to watch the criminal in action
03:07from what seems to be his Kolkata home.
03:10Click on the permission profile.
03:13Click on the permission profile.
03:15One moment.
03:17It sounds like Abhishek's now trying to get access
03:20to Peter's device
03:21by telling him to download legitimate software
03:25that he will use illegally
03:27to see and control everything on Peter's phone.
03:31I've got to go.
03:32All right.
03:33I'm sorry.
03:34But before Abhishek succeeds,
03:37Peter has hung up.
03:40Hello?
03:42Nice. Okay.
03:44Peter has got himself out of the scam just in time.
03:49Nick checks to see what Abhishek is up to now.
03:53I'm just being careful with the webcam.
03:55Nick's being cautious
03:57because when he turns the webcam on,
04:00the webcam light may also come on.
04:03To avoid the risk of alerting Abhishek
04:05to the fact that we are watching him,
04:08Nick turns the webcam off.
04:11But the Hub team continue to monitor the computer screen
04:15and he has a long list
04:17of other potential victims to work through.
04:21Uh-oh.
04:22Yeah.
04:24Abhishek is trying to get his hands
04:26on someone else's money.
04:28I think we've got a war, guys.
04:29Sir, what is your name?
04:31I just can't get any victim audio at all.
04:34But we can hear Abhishek.
04:37Now, what is your surname?
04:40And can also see his computer screen
04:42for details of who he has on the line.
04:46He'll get a name.
04:47It seems that the man who we will call Neil
04:50has been persuaded by Abhishek
04:53to hand over a one-time passcode.
04:55Using this,
04:57he is trying to secretly log in
04:59to Neil's Amazon shopping account,
05:01where he wants to add high-value items
05:04to Neil's shopping basket,
05:06making it look like Neil's Amazon account
05:09has been hacked.
05:11We are simply trying to cancel that order
05:13because someone has been created
05:14a fake Amazon account
05:16with the help of your detail.
05:19Interesting.
05:20Amazon seems to have blocked
05:22whatever's going on here.
05:23Bit of a spanner in the works for the scammer.
05:25It seems that this man's account
05:26is genuinely on hold by Amazon.
05:28Who knows why that is?
05:29But it's a bit of a roadblock for the scammer.
05:32Hold a lie.
05:32But Abhishek has a workaround.
05:37I'm providing to you the security right now
05:40that in your future,
05:41no one can try to access your personal details
05:46and no one can access your financial information.
05:50Is there?
05:51Abhishek wants Neil to give him more
05:53of his personal details
05:55so he can try to reactivate
05:57the blocked Amazon account.
06:01Your phone number is 7 now.
06:03Did we get the number, yeah?
06:05Yeah.
06:06Because Neil has confirmed
06:07his phone number with the scammer,
06:09the hub team also now have it.
06:12But because he's on it to the scammer,
06:15in our experience,
06:17it's unlikely he will answer if we call.
06:21And what is your billing address, sir?
06:23We're going to get a full address, though.
06:26S-T-R-E-E-T, right?
06:31The hub team now have a full address
06:33for Neil in Birmingham.
06:35Mark looks to see where this is
06:37in relation to our ground interceptors.
06:41It's a five-minute drive.
06:42Oh, my God.
06:43Send them, send them, send them.
06:44Let's get them there.
06:46As Mark is about to dispatch
06:47the ground interceptors,
06:49the team spots something
06:51on Abhishek's screen.
06:53OK, sir.
06:55We'll wait for a moment.
06:57Abhishek is now looking at the details
06:59he has for Neil on his computer system.
07:04I'm in Birmingham.
07:06Billing address is different.
07:08On his system,
07:09Abhishek has a different address
07:11in Birmingham for Neil
07:12to the one he just entered
07:14into Neil's Amazon account.
07:17Ground interceptors Chris and Nathan
07:19are standing by to help.
07:21But before they can be dispatched
07:23with two possible addresses,
07:26the hub team need to establish
07:27which one Neil may be at.
07:31Hard to verify on 192
07:33because he's not registered.
07:36So since it's only a five-minute drive away,
07:38maybe we do send them to this address.
07:39Let's call.
07:39OK, let's give them a call.
07:41The hub team have decided
07:43to dispatch the ground interceptors
07:45to the first Birmingham address
07:47that Neil gave Abhishek,
07:49the one we saw on his Amazon account.
07:52Hey, team.
07:53Hello.
07:54We've got one for you
07:56and it is an Amazon refund scam
07:58of a man who is literally five minutes away.
08:01Right, that's quite convenient.
08:02This guy tends to do gift cards
08:04saying it's for a refund
08:05for a fraudulent transaction.
08:07Good luck.
08:08Hi.
08:09Nathan and Chris make their way
08:11to what we hope is Neil's address.
08:13Open Play Store.
08:15Type in over there, sir, AnyDesk.
08:18He's trying to coach him
08:19through downloading AnyDesk.
08:21AnyDesk is a legitimate remote access software,
08:25but Abhishek will misuse it
08:27to see and control everything
08:29on Neil's mobile phone.
08:31We're literally one minute away.
08:35Turn right.
08:37OK.
08:38Let's call on, sir.
08:40He must be on that side.
08:41Let's do that side.
08:41Must be that one there.
08:43There isn't a pad lock symbol.
08:51Hiya.
08:52We're from the BBC.
08:53Are you on the phone to Amazon?
08:56And after install is completed, sir,
08:58if you can see, often open.
09:00Abhishek is ploughing on,
09:02trying to get access to Neil's mobile phone.
09:05Let's get the GIs on the phone now, guys.
09:07Yeah, let's get him back.
09:07We're running out of time.
09:12He's getting remote access, guys.
09:13Now, sir, and you can see, start now.
09:18Hello?
09:19We've just been to the address you told us.
09:21It was a lady who answered.
09:22She said nobody in that house is on the phone
09:24to anyone from Amazon.
09:25Her English wasn't very good,
09:27but he doesn't live there.
09:28She doesn't know the target.
09:30This is bizarre.
09:32As the woman at the billing address
09:34has never heard of Neil,
09:36the team need a plan B.
09:38The other address that the scammer had for this man
09:41is a 15-minute drive.
09:42So I wonder if he lives in the other address
09:46and he's just got his billing address as this place.
09:50Right.
09:51OK.
09:52Just let us know how it goes.
09:55The ground interceptors head to the second address
09:58we have for Neil.
10:00There we go.
10:00That's the move-in.
10:03Fortunately, it seems Abhishek's attempt
10:05to get remote access to Neil's phone failed,
10:08but he's still trying.
10:11Yes, click on share on app.
10:13If Abhishek succeeds soon,
10:15he will be one step closer
10:17to being able to steal Neil's money.
10:21Traffic's building up.
10:2211 minutes away, mate.
10:25The Huff team can't rely on Chris and Nathan
10:27getting to Neil in time.
10:30Let's see what we can find out about this man.
10:32We've got his full name.
10:33We've got two possible addresses for him.
10:34We should be able to narrow it down more, shouldn't we?
10:36Yeah, we definitely should.
10:38Harleen searches for any other ways to contact Neil.
10:42Can you see if I crossed this call?
10:45Oh, I have a picture.
10:48This is definitely his picture.
10:49That's his WhatsApp picture.
10:51OK.
10:51Well, let's work backwards from that
10:52and see if we can get some social media.
10:54Sir, do we make it faster, OK?
10:56Because you have to take a very long time.
10:58It sounds like he's up with some issues.
11:00Abhishek's had Neil on the line for over 20 minutes
11:03and still hasn't got remote access to Neil's mobile phone.
11:08But the thing is, sir,
11:10like someone has been creating a fake Amazon account.
11:13It sounds like our man's having some second thoughts.
11:15I know, sir.
11:16Break it fast.
11:18Entire screen.
11:19Entire screen.
11:20One thing that is massively helping us at the moment
11:23is the fact that the scammer is struggling
11:25to connect into this man's phone via any desk
11:28buying us a little bit more time.
11:30Seven minutes away, mate.
11:33What I'm going to do,
11:34I'm simply transferring my phone
11:35to one of my senior officers.
11:37He will guide you right now what you need to do, all right?
11:40Just be on the line, OK?
11:42We've never heard this guy say
11:43he's going to transfer to a senior officer before.
11:46I thought he worked alone.
11:48Is it his wife?
11:51Can we see through the webcam?
11:53This is the webcam right now.
11:55It's just Abhishek on his own.
11:57In case he has a webcam light and spots it on,
12:01Nick turns the webcam off.
12:04The ground team are six minutes away.
12:06OK.
12:10I wish we could hear better what's going on.
12:15He has looked up somebody else into the call.
12:17It does sound like he's looked someone else in.
12:19So there's definitely another device
12:21that we don't have access to,
12:22whether it's a computer or a phone.
12:24Yeah.
12:25As we don't have access to this other device,
12:28we can't hear whether this second scammer
12:31is getting remote access to Neil's phone,
12:34edging closer to stealing from him.
12:36We need to track Neil down fast.
12:40Red lights all around.
12:42Mate, we need to get there
12:44because it sounds as though
12:45we are this guy's only hope
12:47of not losing out to this scam.
12:49The team are four minutes away.
12:53OK.
12:55The Hub team call Chris and Nathan.
12:59Hi, guys.
13:00Is he still on the phone?
13:01Honestly, we don't know.
13:03Our Amazon scammer said something
13:04we've never heard him say before,
13:06which was that he was going to pass him
13:07on to his senior supervisor.
13:10So our scammer
13:11is not on the phone with him right now,
13:13but he may well still be on the phone
13:14with an Amazon scammer.
13:16Yeah.
13:16OK.
13:17Well, we're there now,
13:18so let's find out.
13:19Nice one.
13:19Thank you so much, team.
13:21Bye.
13:38Doesn't look like there's anybody in.
13:41No answer, no lights on.
13:44All the Hub team can do
13:46is wait to hear
13:47if the ground team
13:48have managed to stop Neil's scam.
13:51They might be getting somewhere
13:53because we haven't heard anything.
13:55Try one next door,
13:56see if you know him,
13:57see if he lives here.
13:58I'll try that one.
13:59Yeah.
14:06Hello.
14:07Hi.
14:07I'm sorry this is going to sound unusual.
14:09I'm from the BBC.
14:10We're just trying to locate
14:12a man who's on the phone
14:13to a scammer.
14:14I'm just wondering,
14:15do you know if your neighbour
14:16next door is called?
14:20While the Hub team
14:21wait for news
14:21from Chris and Nathan,
14:23they keep listening
14:24to their feed
14:25from Ubyshek
14:25in case Neil
14:27is put back through to him
14:29by the female fraudster.
14:33They're calling us, guys.
14:34How are we getting on, guys?
14:35I've knocked on the house.
14:36Nobody's answering.
14:37Doesn't look like
14:38there's anybody home.
14:39Went to the neighbour's house.
14:40She said she doesn't think
14:42anyone next door
14:43goes by that name,
14:44but she's going to put
14:45a message on the street group
14:46to see if anybody
14:47is of that name.
14:49So we can try
14:49and track him down that way,
14:51but at the moment
14:52we can't find him.
14:53What a baffling situation.
14:55I think we should try
14:56and give him a call
14:56on the number we've got for him
14:57if he's not on the phone
14:58to the scammer.
14:59Yeah, I think so.
15:00All right.
15:00Cheers, Chris.
15:01Thank you so much.
15:03If Neil is still
15:04on the phone to the scammer,
15:05he likely won't answer our call,
15:08but it's worth a try
15:09as the team currently
15:11have no other way
15:12of getting hold of him.
15:14What's his number?
15:1507.
15:16OK, I'm calling him now.
15:19Oh, hey, is that...
15:26Hi.
15:28Neil has answered.
15:29To further protect his identity,
15:32we are not using his audio.
15:34My name's Nick Stapleton.
15:36I work for a programme
15:37called Scam Interceptors
15:39at the BBC.
15:40We monitor the activity
15:42of scam call centres.
15:43I think you've had a call
15:44from someone claiming
15:45to be Amazon.
15:46I just wanted to let you know
15:46that it's a scam.
15:49Have you just come off
15:50the phone with them now?
15:52Neil tells Nick
15:54that he started to become
15:55frustrated on the call
15:57and needed to get to work.
15:58So after nearly half an hour,
16:01he ended his call
16:02with the scammers.
16:04If they have had you
16:05download anything
16:06to your phone,
16:07you should definitely
16:08delete it.
16:10Any desk, yeah.
16:11You need to get
16:13into your Amazon account
16:14and log out
16:15of all devices.
16:16You should probably
16:17just let your bank
16:17know that this has happened
16:18because whatever payment methods
16:20are associated
16:21to that Amazon account,
16:22there is a chance
16:22that these guys
16:23could access them.
16:25Neil is grateful
16:26for Nick's advice.
16:28All right, no problem.
16:29See ya.
16:30Okay, well,
16:31no closer to knowing
16:33what the mystery
16:33of whereabouts
16:34he actually was.
16:35Did he just run out
16:36of patience with them
16:36and put the phone down?
16:38Well, at least he's safe.
16:39Indeed.
16:41Fortunately,
16:42Ubysheik
16:43didn't get any money
16:44out of Neil.
16:54Having seen
16:55what a ruthless scammer
16:56Ubysheik Singh is,
16:58we want to try
16:59and put an end
17:00to the crimes
17:01he's committing.
17:02Thanks to ethical hacker
17:03Dan G,
17:04who's been assisting us
17:05behind the scenes,
17:07we have been gathering
17:08as much information
17:09on Ubysheik
17:10as we can.
17:13Dan has been
17:14digging in the background
17:15into Abysheik Singh
17:16and found that
17:18his computer
17:19was not only
17:21wide open
17:22in terms of security,
17:23but unusually
17:24for a scammer,
17:24absolutely chock full
17:25of his personal information.
17:27We've never seen this.
17:28You know,
17:28you just don't get
17:28this insight
17:29into scammers' lives
17:30because they don't
17:30store this kind of data
17:31on the computer
17:31that they use
17:32to do their scams.
17:33But Abysheik did
17:34and Dan found it all.
17:36Meet Abysheik Singh.
17:38His mobile number's
17:39on the screen there,
17:40as is his email address,
17:41his educational level,
17:42his work experience,
17:43his date of birth,
17:45his marital status,
17:46his religion
17:46and, of course,
17:47his nationality.
17:48Why?
17:48Because we've got his CV.
17:52And that's not all
17:53Dan uncovered
17:54on Ubysheik's computer.
17:56We've also got
17:57tons of his photos,
17:59so if it wasn't clear
18:00what he looked like
18:00from the webcam,
18:01it's very clear
18:02what he looks like
18:02from all of the photos
18:03on his photo reel.
18:04There he is.
18:07To just see this
18:08off of his computer,
18:09it's pretty crazy.
18:11It is.
18:12We now know
18:13by his date of birth
18:14he is 29.
18:15We have absolutely
18:16everything on this map,
18:17including an actual
18:18home address.
18:20There's a street view
18:21from the main road here,
18:22which is Diamond Harbour Road,
18:24goes out of the
18:24southwest of Kolkata
18:25and, yeah,
18:25Abysheik's block
18:26is just in behind there.
18:27Wow.
18:28Oh, my gosh.
18:30As ethical hacker
18:31Dan Gee
18:32has given us
18:32live access
18:33to Ubysheik's computer,
18:35allowing us
18:36to watch him scam
18:37in real time,
18:38we can see
18:39everything else
18:40he's up to.
18:42And right now,
18:43he's sat there
18:43having a lovely old time
18:44watching a music video
18:45and he's about to get
18:46a phone call
18:46from Scam Interceptors.
18:49With control
18:50of Ubysheik's computer,
18:52Nick
18:52turns his webcam
18:54on to watch
18:55his reaction.
18:57Oh, look,
18:58he's taking
18:58his head sap off.
19:00He's thinking,
19:01why are you
19:01cable like
19:01Bobby ringing me?
19:04Come on,
19:04Abysheik.
19:07Answer the call.
19:11He didn't take it.
19:16Nick
19:16tries to call
19:17Ubysheik again.
19:27It sounds
19:28as though
19:28Ubysheik
19:29has more
19:29than one
19:30mobile phone
19:31and is checking
19:32out the number
19:32Nick has just
19:33called him on
19:34with the person
19:35he's on the line to.
19:37Nick
19:37phones him again.
19:46Come on,
19:47Abysheik.
19:48Still no answer.
19:52But Nick
19:53isn't giving up.
19:59Huh.
20:01I mean,
20:01I'd want to know
20:02who was calling
20:02if I was getting
20:03this many missed calls.
20:04Shall we try
20:05using our landline?
20:07Let's do it.
20:08The team hope
20:09that a call
20:10from another UK number
20:11might make
20:12Ubysheik
20:13curious enough
20:14to answer.
20:19Oh, he's cancelled
20:20it faster that time.
20:21He's lying down.
20:22He's so confused
20:23right now.
20:24If we use his name,
20:25maybe he's more
20:26likely to call back.
20:27We're going to text him,
20:28hi, Abysheik,
20:28can you give us a call back?
20:31Oh, he's sat up.
20:32Oh, he's sat up.
20:33That's so nice.
20:33He's read it.
20:34Who are you
20:35from Abysheik?
20:37Give us a call
20:38and I'll explain.
20:39Call me
20:39and I'll explain.
20:43Well, that's got
20:43his attention.
20:44There he is,
20:45typing away
20:45on his webcam.
20:46First, tell me your name.
20:48Will we use your name?
20:49Of course we can, yeah.
20:50Yeah.
20:52I think that's more likely
20:53to pique his interest
20:54than Nick.
20:56Yeah.
20:57Sorry, don't know.
20:59Why don't we try
20:59and video call it?
21:01Oh, that's an interesting shout.
21:02You do that
21:03and I'll open his webcam.
21:07But the video call
21:08doesn't connect.
21:15He's on the phone
21:16to someone else.
21:17That'll be why it doesn't connect.
21:17That's why I didn't go through.
21:20I think he just said,
21:21do you know someone
21:22called Harleen?
21:22He did.
21:27Oh, he's getting up.
21:29So he's got his phone
21:30in his hand,
21:30he's walking away.
21:33He's standing right
21:33in the doorway.
21:34He's looking at something.
21:36He's making calls.
21:37He is.
21:38He's coming back
21:39near the computer.
21:41To avoid exposing
21:42the type of access
21:43we have to Ubishek,
21:45Nick turns his webcam off.
21:49Oh, that was a random UK call.
21:51Amazon.
21:55Ubishek has changed
21:57his caller ID
21:57to say Amazon.
21:59That was Amazon
22:01apparently calling us
22:02on WhatsApp.
22:03That's Abishek.
22:03That's Abishek calling back.
22:05Just take it away.
22:08Hello.
22:09Hi there.
22:10Is this Abishek?
22:12Yeah, who are you?
22:13Hi, Abishek.
22:14My name is Harleen Naughty.
22:16I am a reporter
22:16on the BBC One series...
22:18Harleen Naughty.
22:19Harleen Naughty.
22:20I am a reporter
22:21on the BBC series
22:22Scam Interceptors.
22:24And I just want to let you know
22:25that this call
22:26is being recorded.
22:28Just so you're aware,
22:29we know that you are
22:30an Amazon scammer.
22:32Why do you think
22:32that's acceptable, Abishek?
22:35Why did he accept that?
22:36Where did he get
22:37that information?
22:38That information
22:39is totally fake.
22:40It's not fake, Abishek.
22:42We've been observing you.
22:43We know exactly
22:44where you are based.
22:46Just off Diamond Harbour Road.
22:48Is that right?
22:48Diamond Harbour Road?
22:50Yes.
22:50But not.
22:51Actually not.
22:51That's not where you're based, no?
22:54No.
22:55Abishek,
22:55do you think
22:56that it's acceptable
22:57to steal people's money
22:59in the UK?
23:01When I'm not doing
23:02anything like that,
23:03so why will you
23:04whatever you're telling me?
23:05Abishek,
23:06we've observed you
23:06doing things like that.
23:08Who are you?
23:09From where you get
23:09the information?
23:10If you watch our show
23:12on the BBC,
23:13you'll be aware
23:13of exactly how
23:14we get this information.
23:18You still there, Abishek?
23:21Hello?
23:21Hey, this is Nick Stapleton
23:23from Scam Interceptors.
23:24I'm one of the presenters
23:25on the show.
23:26Abishek,
23:27how do you think
23:28your dad would feel
23:29about the job that you do,
23:30stealing money from people?
23:33What my dad will just
23:34simply feel
23:35if I'm not doing
23:35anything like that?
23:36But the thing is,
23:37Abishek,
23:38you are doing that.
23:39Hmm?
23:41Who has given you
23:42that information
23:43about that?
23:44You deny it,
23:44absolutely.
23:46No,
23:46I don't know.
23:47I don't know.
23:49Abishek,
23:50you have got some
23:56complaint
23:57you're harassing
23:58that person.
23:59That's why
23:59we have to
24:00bring on
24:01this number,
24:02okay?
24:03Oh,
24:03so this isn't
24:04Abishek?
24:05Suddenly,
24:06the person on the line
24:07is now claiming
24:08to be someone else,
24:09a friend
24:10of Abishek's.
24:11You are just
24:13harassing an innocent
24:13person.
24:14I know that person
24:15from my childhood,
24:17okay?
24:17You know Abishek,
24:18do you?
24:19Yes.
24:19What does Abishek
24:20tell you that he
24:21does for work?
24:21He's just simply
24:22studying,
24:23he's not talking.
24:24I know him.
24:25So in that case,
24:26why is he calling
24:27off a UK number
24:28with the name Amazon
24:29if he's not committing
24:30any crime?
24:31Because that seems
24:32to me like a weird
24:33thing to do if you're
24:33not pretending
24:34to be Amazon.
24:35I think you haven't
24:36listened to me.
24:37Did I tell you
24:38I'm from Amazon?
24:39We're obviously
24:40going to send
24:40all of our
24:41allegations.
24:41to Abishek
24:42about what he does
24:43and if he wants
24:44to send her
24:44a response to us,
24:45we'd love to have
24:46a conversation
24:46with him about it,
24:47okay?
24:48Okay, okay.
24:49Okay, and what
24:49was your name?
24:50Cecil.
24:51Cecil.
24:52Okay, all right,
24:53Cecil.
24:53Thanks for your time.
24:54Okay, thank you.
24:55Bye-bye.
25:02A few hours later,
25:03as the hub team
25:04are finishing
25:05for the day,
25:06they receive a call.
25:09Yeah, this is Cecil again.
25:11How can I help you,
25:12Cecil?
25:13Yeah, so right now,
25:14okay, as you guys
25:15have told me about
25:16Abishek,
25:17so I have just
25:17to be talked
25:18and investigate
25:19each and everything,
25:20okay, within a few
25:21hours.
25:21So right now,
25:22okay, as I can just
25:24know, my results
25:26come up with that,
25:27okay?
25:27He didn't think
25:28anything somebody else
25:30have just simply
25:31doing within his
25:32behalf, okay?
25:33So right now,
25:34okay, do you have
25:35any ID or any IP address?
25:37Hey, Cecil,
25:38Cecil, can I tell
25:40you something?
25:41Yeah, yeah.
25:41We have had access
25:42to Abishek's computer,
25:44so I don't know
25:45if he's lying to you
25:46or if you're lying
25:47to yourself,
25:47but there's no point
25:49because we have
25:50completely undisputable
25:52evidence that Abishek
25:53was running scams.
25:55We watched him do it
25:56on his own webcam,
25:58Cecil.
25:59Do you have the video?
25:59Yeah, of course
26:00we have the video.
26:01So you have watched him?
26:02Yeah, we've watched
26:02him on his webcam,
26:04Cecil.
26:04It's going to be on TV
26:05in the UK.
26:06We make a television
26:07program.
26:08You're going to be
26:08in that TV show as
26:09well.
26:10So do you have
26:11any, like,
26:13face verification?
26:15Cecil, I don't know
26:16what you're not
26:16understanding here.
26:17Abishek Singh is
26:19running scams
26:19pretending to be
26:20Amazon.
26:21Anybody can just
26:22do a prank with
26:23him with the data.
26:24I'm going to
26:25support you guys
26:26as well.
26:27Cecil, tell me
26:28this.
26:28Whatever you're
26:28telling me,
26:29that is true.
26:30Earlier today,
26:31when Abishek
26:32left his room
26:33and came in
26:34and then suddenly
26:35you called us
26:36two minutes later,
26:37is that because
26:38you were sitting
26:39in the next room
26:40to where he was
26:40running Amazon scams?
26:41Do you live
26:42in the same building?
26:43No, that's the thing.
26:45You are totally wrong.
26:46It's a strange coincidence,
26:47isn't it, Cecil,
26:47that you suddenly
26:48called us from a phone
26:49that was called Amazon?
26:51No.
26:52I don't know what
26:53you think you're
26:53achieving here,
26:54but look,
26:54send us an email address,
26:55we'll send you a letter
26:56of allegations,
26:57and then you can decide
26:58if you want to respond.
26:58OK, I'm sending you,
27:00OK?
27:01OK, bye.
27:06We sent all our
27:08allegations to Abishek,
27:10but have not yet
27:11received a response.
27:12We also contacted
27:14the person calling
27:15themselves Cecil,
27:17who also did not respond.
27:22We have reported
27:23Abishek to the
27:24Kolkata authorities
27:25and passed them
27:27all of our evidence.
27:28We will be keeping
27:29across any action
27:31they take.
27:37If you think
27:37you've been scammed,
27:39then there are some
27:40steps you need
27:41to take straight away.
27:43Firstly,
27:43and most importantly,
27:45call your bank.
27:46The number is usually
27:47on the back
27:48of your bank card.
27:49Then,
27:50remove any software
27:51that scammers
27:52asked you to install
27:53on your phone
27:54or laptop.
27:54Change your passwords
27:56on as many online
27:57accounts as you can
27:58and then keep a close
27:59eye on them
27:59over the coming days
28:00to see if there's
28:01any unusual activity.
28:03Contact Report Fraud.
28:04Go to reportfraud.police.uk
28:06or call 0300 123 2040.
28:10If you're in Scotland,
28:12report the crime
28:12to the police
28:13on 101.
28:15And if you've
28:16had a scam text,
28:17report that
28:18to 7726.
28:19That's spam
28:20as it's written
28:21on your phone's
28:22keypad.
28:22The more that
28:23you report,
28:24the more that
28:25can be done
28:25to stop them.
28:28the more that
28:52you
28:56have a
