00:16That metal beam appears to be one of the overhead line rails, pillars that has been knocked over.
00:24These are the tents that I described to you earlier and there are multiple ambulances in attendance, scores of emergency
00:31service workers there as well.
00:33As you can see, this multi-agency response to this situation that developed around 8 o'clock or so local
00:40time, around 30 kilometres northwest of Brussels.
00:44Aerial appliances in attendance as well as would be considered normal in a situation such as this.
00:50This appears to be the van at the centre of this tragedy that reportedly was carrying potentially nine passengers.
00:57We understand two adults and seven children.
01:01Local media in Belgium reporting that it was a van for a special educational school.
01:06And you can see there to the right of the frame in that previous shot what appeared to be one
01:11of the trolleys being moved away from that scene.
01:15But you can see there fire engines, ambulance appliances, we also saw the aerial appliance being dispatched there as well.
01:22And this is the situation that is unfolding.
01:25We're being told multiple fatalities have been reported.
01:30As yet, do not know the number of people involved, do not know the situation regarding any further injuries.
01:37And we do not know about any injuries on board the train.
01:40It is, of course, relatively early in the morning when this incident took place.
01:45One would assume that the train had a relatively high level of occupancy.
01:50It's obviously a Tuesday morning, a central commuter time around 8 o'clock or so.
01:54And you can see there some debris to the bottom left of that picture.
01:58You can also see, like I say, that column that holds up the overhead wiring online such as this appears
02:03to be knocked.
02:04No details as to the impact on the train itself, whether that was derailed or whether any of the carriages
02:10left the rails.
02:12But we are working to establish more details on it.
02:16I understand that the municipality of Bougainhout has set up a press centre for further communication.
02:21And like I say, according to federal police, family members are being informed and are being taken care of at
02:30a school nearby this incident.
02:33The incident is around a kilometre away from the station in Bougainhout.
02:39It's understood that this level crossing, like I say, around a kilometre away from the station reports from local media
02:45that the train was coming to a halt in that station.
02:49So it had been slowing at the time of the incident, according to local reports as well.
02:54And I've not been able to independently verify them myself.
02:57But the emergency brake had been applied by the driver, but there was not enough time for the train to
03:03come to a halt prior to the collision.
