00:00This time we're exploring new Scottish waters.
00:03We have been west, we've been north, we've been east.
00:06So it's only polite that we go south.
00:10We're going swimming and beyond.
00:14To discover new pastimes, people and places.
00:21It's like apocalypse now but with women.
00:23As we make our way across the Scottish borders through Dumfries and Galloway
00:27and all the way to Scotland's southernmost tip.
00:30This is Scotland's forgotten corner, but not for us because we're here.
00:34We're putting the world to rights while getting very wet.
00:37Oh!
00:38Have we got down? We'll get down together.
00:39And very, very cold.
00:41I'm alive!
00:43As the temperature drops.
00:45You feel quite dizzy when it's that cold.
00:47On our eternal October swim venture.
00:50I was effervescent. I was swimming in cold champagne.
00:54It's gonna be epic.
00:55Yes, team!
01:06Good to be back in the road. Look at this.
01:10See me, you and Bonbon.
01:12Dream job.
01:13Out like this.
01:14It's just the best, isn't it?
01:16Whoa!
01:17First cattle ground!
01:20So what's the plan, Hempy?
01:22We're going to work our way ever westwards, skirting the English border.
01:27But today, we're Britpopping our way to the very south-eastern corner of Scotland.
01:33We're 50 miles from Edinburgh, 80 miles from Newcastle.
01:36I think this is a nice wee day out or something.
01:38People do come down here for the day, because looking out the window, the seas right there, it's so beautiful.
01:49Speaking of going south, if you don't mind me saying, you look a bit knackered.
01:55I'm just back from seeing Oasis at Wembley.
01:58You were always more rock and roll than me.
02:00I don't know how my body feels about me being rock and roll right now.
02:03I'm actually having a hot sweat thinking about it.
02:05So this dip today is just going to be heavenly for me.
02:08I love that Bonnie's here.
02:10She's missed you.
02:11She didn't go to see Oasis because she's more of a Blur fan.
02:15Yeah, she's like, no, they're not for me.
02:17And do you know what, Damon Albarn, cold dips.
02:20Does he?
02:20Yeah, let's get him in.
02:25We're not far from the tiny historic fishing port of St. Ab's.
02:29We were taking our first dip of the trip.
02:34What's the name of the group we're going to meet today, Jules?
02:37The Caldingham Brave Bears.
02:40The Caldingham Brave Bears.
02:41They're bears as in bears, as in bears.
02:44No, it's as in they are from the bay.
02:46I can't wait to meet them because they've got this quite an unusual take on their wild swimming.
02:51They snorkel.
02:52It's a little bit like the aquatic equivalent of gazing at the stars.
02:56It's a first for both of me and you.
02:59Did you hear that, Bonnie?
03:00You heard me right.
03:05Is this the abs now?
03:07It's gorgeous.
03:08You like it, Bonnie?
03:15Wow, it's so gorgeous.
03:16It looks like Cornwall.
03:18Beautiful spot.
03:19Can't wait to go in the water.
03:21We're snorkelling.
03:22We might be in for longer than five minutes.
03:24Maybe we should wear our wetsuits.
03:26That's a first.
03:27Let's get our stuff to you.
03:28Maybe turn off.
03:29Nobody needs to see me getting into a wetsuit.
03:34So how will we find the group?
03:36I'm no Maygrey, but there's a load of folk over there in wetsuits with plastic tubes.
03:40Aye, it could be them.
03:45How are you, gang?
03:47And our leader today is Sally.
03:49This is an absolute first for us because we've never actually snorkelled and looked under.
03:54It really helps people connect with their environment.
03:57It's part of a marine reserve here.
03:58It's well known for the clarity of water and you don't need much stuff to go and do it.
04:02It's free.
04:03Is this what you always mean?
04:04We know.
04:05There are a series of snorkel trails around this coastline that Eloise from the Scottish
04:09Wildlife Trust was involved in creating.
04:11Hi.
04:11One of the snorkel trails is here at St Abbs.
04:13We have over 80 snorkel locations all across Scotland.
04:17It's all about just making the ocean more accessible, isn't it?
04:19Just showing people how incredible our marine life is.
04:22See, when you're snorkeling, for me, it's just, it's magical.
04:25So what are the safety protocols for a snorkeling group as opposed to a wild swimming group?
04:29Yeah, so we tend to be a bit more warmly dressed just to be in the water a little bit
04:33longer.
04:34When you're snorkeling, you're just not moving very much.
04:36It's amazing how quickly you get chilled.
04:37St Abbs is a working harbour, so we will make sure we've got our tow floats with us today,
04:43our buoys, just in case.
04:45And most of the boats are all in now.
04:46There's maybe a little one out.
04:47But yeah, so just making sure of other water users in the same way as a swimming group.
04:51Keep visibility high.
04:52Yeah.
04:53We would always say to people, be very clear about where your entry and exits are.
04:56I just love the fact that you keep seeing the word snorkel trail.
04:59It's getting me so excited.
05:00Snorkel trail.
05:01And no disrespect to you ladies, but it's lovely to see some fellas here today.
05:04Thank you so much.
05:07Let's hit the snorkel trail.
05:09Yes, please.
05:25It's a bit unusual for us to have to get our kit on before we go swimming.
05:38Oh, dearie.
05:39Oh, masks on first.
05:42Oh, okay.
05:42A little bit of spit just stops them steaming up.
05:44And then spitting and do.
05:45Yeah, spitting and do.
05:46Delightful.
05:47But this full face mask with a steam preventing layer of spit gives us the best possible view
05:52underwater and stops water going up our noses too.
05:55We're also using fins, which once you're good at it, should mean fast hands free swimming.
06:01It's a wee bit faffy to be honest, the fins. Not everyone wears fins.
06:05That's a faffy. I think it's worth it.
06:07I'm just going to let the water take your weight.
06:10Hats again.
06:12And a final high-tech in, hang me.
06:16A plastic tube or a snorkel for those of us in the know.
06:20No, I'm writing to you.
06:21Okay.
06:26If you float upright, just relax.
06:28Uh-huh, I'm writing a hard thing with them.
06:31That's better already.
06:32Apologies for getting used to it.
06:33No, you do.
06:41It's so peaceful.
06:42Yeah, you did really well then.
06:44Oh my god, it's so magical if you're looking at a family.
06:50How long have you been doing it for?
06:52Um, five years here.
06:54Five years, wow.
06:55What's great about going out with a group like this is their local knowledge and expertise.
07:00And then this time of year, the kelp's starting to die back now.
07:03The winter and then come the spring, it all starts growing again, yeah.
07:06That's wonderful.
07:07I think the thing that's not going to do,
07:09is they're really big rocky, chad, female, weeping, tiding.
07:15It's amazing to come across things we'd normally
07:17be trying to avoid in their natural habitat.
07:20It's amazing to come across things we'd normally be trying to avoid in their natural habitat.
07:23It sort of takes the fear away, especially for us newbies.
07:29First time we're being clear together.
07:31Yeah, I think, like, under the water.
07:33Do you know?
07:34It's really good.
07:36Look how much she's around, that's what I feel like.
07:45But it's not just an underwater safari.
07:47They're a community-minded lot, too.
07:51So when we're snorkelling, we also pick up any rubbish and fishing line and stuff.
07:55Oh, you didn't like that?
07:57It's fantastic.
07:59Yeah.
08:00I like that.
08:01God, it really changes it for you.
08:03What, something like this?
08:04Such fun.
08:05Thanks, guys.
08:05That's so great.
08:07It's mad how you can go from serenity to flailing around like a seal
08:11coming home from the pub in a matter of moments.
08:13Oh, it really looks like it.
08:14It is, wow.
08:16I couldn't get out.
08:17That's beautiful.
08:18I think we were in there for just under 40 minutes.
08:20It would be a bit freaky if you were doing that by yourself.
08:22But doing it with a group is great.
08:23I feel a bit, like, banding a bit for you.
08:26Yeah.
08:27So cool.
08:28Loved it.
08:29But I tell you, I'm looking forward to a cup of tea.
08:35I feel like we've added another feather to our wild swimming cap today.
08:40So thank you for that.
08:41It was really something different, wasn't it?
08:43Yeah, it really was.
08:44It's a bit clear to me when we were first time doing that.
08:46Yeah, it's lovely, sir.
08:46So how did you find that?
08:47I really liked it, yeah.
08:48Did you?
08:49My Santa list now is a snorkel, flippers, and a mask.
08:53Do people bag these trails like Monroe's?
08:55Is that how it works?
08:56Someone suggested recently we should have, like, six, I don't know,
08:59like, snorkel snagging or something.
09:00I don't know, like, maybe.
09:02I think it's a great idea, so.
09:03Well, we bagged one today.
09:05Yes.
09:05Melinda, you went into this.
09:07Are you the boss of the group?
09:08No.
09:10I'm one of the co-founders.
09:11In 2023, I got a really aggressive form of breast cancer.
09:16On my darkest days, you would just get a little text message for somebody,
09:19or somebody would drop off a loaf of bread, or you would come down on a Sunday
09:23and everyone would social distance around me, but it still made you feel part of something.
09:28Yeah.
09:29And gave you hope.
09:30Sorry, my voice is a bit shaky.
09:31Aw!
09:32I was trying to cuddle you, but I didn't want to stop your beautiful flow.
09:35No, no.
09:35So that's the bravery in your group.
09:38Uh-huh.
09:38This is what it is.
09:39It's the fact that you're all holding each other up like that.
09:42It's amazing.
09:43So what's really great about the snorkelling is it takes you to that mindful and present moment,
09:48looking at the little fishies or the starfish, and there's some wonderful things to see.
09:53It fills me full of joy.
09:54Aw, but you can tell that, and it totally comes across.
09:57But Shelley, do you mind telling us about your experience as well?
10:01Yeah, it was normal swimming.
10:02I just had a great time, and then I was severely ill.
10:05I was told I had cryptosporidium.
10:07Unfortunately, I've been in some contaminated water,
10:10and I've ingested a parasite, and it took nine weeks before I was able to get back in the sea.
10:15Did it knock your confidence?
10:16Yeah, it did at first, but I was lucky,
10:18because I had the girls round about me to sort of support me through that,
10:20and then once I got back in, that was it.
10:22You know, I don't want anybody to be scared of getting in the sea when they hear what I've went
10:26through,
10:26but I want them to be a bit more mindful.
10:29After heavy rainfall, you really shouldn't swim for 48 hours.
10:32Check your local apps.
10:33I've done a lot of work with Surfers Against Sewage.
10:35You've got a great app.
10:36There's the Rivers and Seas Trust online as well.
10:39You can check those, and they just let you know if there's been any sort of overspills
10:43or any pollution in the past sort of 48 hours.
10:45It always takes somebody else to go.
10:47It's not a good time, because the last time there was a big runoff like that.
10:49Yeah.
10:50Somebody else that went, don't go in.
10:51Don't go in.
10:52Yeah.
10:53And thanks for being so welcoming to us.
10:55It's been brilliant.
10:56Yay!
10:57Yay!
10:58Woo!
10:59What an utter treat that was.
11:02Yes, but after 40 minutes in that cold water, I'm ready for my bed.
11:06Let's find somewhere to park up.
11:09Of course, I'm not the only international megastar to have visited St Abbs.
11:15International megastar, Enby?
11:17Bonnie's a bigger star than you.
11:19The Little Harbour was New Asgard.
11:21It was in the Avengers movie.
11:23Chris Hemsworth came and filmed here.
11:25Wow.
11:26Yeah.
11:26Hot Thor.
11:28Thor.
11:31Did you think he went wild swimming?
11:33Probably, yeah.
11:34I should have seen that.
11:35With his big hammer.
11:38I bet his hammer was quite wee when he came out of the water, Jules.
11:40You mentioned his hammer hammers.
11:41I bet he went into the water with a big hammer and he came out with a tiny wee hammer.
11:50Bonnie, cover your ears.
11:55Apart from the size of our hammers, me and old Chris Hemi here have a lot in common.
12:00I am in the marble universe as C.D. Barman.
12:03Wow.
12:04What's your superpower then?
12:05Pouring drinks and bad powder?
12:08And could you possibly put that down again?
12:10Bonnie's breath is...
12:12You could do it.
12:13I can't look.
12:14It's childlocked.
12:16I'm going to possibly be childlocked.
12:17Yes.
12:19There you go.
12:21Bonnie, that's better, isn't it?
12:26Here we are.
12:27It's camping time.
12:30I bet they've got a hotel for Chris Hemsley, eh?
12:33I've never been much of a camper.
12:35No.
12:35But I'm getting into it.
12:36The whole thing about swimming, you have to shed being comfortable, whether that's having
12:41your belly out or whatever, embrace the uncomfortable.
12:44So I think that's what camping is all about, is about being a little bit more uncomfortable
12:49and being good with it.
12:51That was hardcore.
12:52I might sleep for about two days afterwards.
12:54After the 40-minute snorkel?
12:56Yeah.
12:56What did you say to those fish?
12:59What are those fish doing here?
13:02That's where they live.
13:03The only thing I didn't like was, there's no chat, because...
13:06Because you've got something in your mouth.
13:08I did attempt it a couple of times and I taped the thing out and the leader was kind of
13:12like,
13:13you know, we need to put that back in.
13:14We were in that water for 40 minutes and it's October.
13:18We had the wrong wetsuits on today.
13:19I was a little bit envious of those girls today with their full wetsuits.
13:22And usually for us, it's wetsuits again for tomorrow's activity, surfing.
13:27Yeah, let's get the long ones this time.
13:29I'm really excited about tomorrow, because I've only ever tried surfing once or twice before.
13:33Me and the boys went on a surfing course for a whole weekend and we couldn't really get
13:37to grips with it. And then Jules came to pick us up, within two minutes surfed right past all
13:42three of us. And I was like, what's going on here?
13:45We'll be wearing the full wetsuit tomorrow. Suit up, get in and then you can enjoy it,
13:49because you are going to fall off and be in the water for a long time.
13:52Jules, I don't know about you, but I am shattered.
13:55Yeah, I'm so pooped, I don't think I need another biscuit.
13:58They're too far away.
13:59That's how tired I am.
14:00Look, Jules, I can't get them.
14:02No, forget it.
14:04Here's to waxing down our surfboards.
14:06Here's to that.
14:07Good vibrations.
14:09Doesn't matter how knackered we are, Greg, let's get this on and down before bed.
14:22Good morning.
14:24Do you want to use the spindle?
14:25I'll try.
14:26Look at that.
14:30Ow!
14:34All right.
14:36You get the spindle and keep turning it.
14:38Stop saying spindle.
14:39Oh, I think that's fair enough.
14:41There we go.
14:42Good action, Jules, well done.
14:44I was going to make you a coffee, but I just realised something.
14:47What is it?
14:47Look at the date.
14:50It's our anniversary and we both forgot.
14:52We both forgot.
14:53Sorry.
14:54We both forgot.
14:56We're going surfing together.
14:57Yeah, that's our present, that's good.
14:59It's the first time in 26 years we've forgot, but I think that's a good thing.
15:04Bit of an atmosphere now.
15:06Let's get the coffee on.
15:09Don't feel bad, Greg.
15:10We still like each other after 26 years.
15:12That's a present in itself.
15:1326 years.
15:15Happy anniversary, by the way.
15:17Actually, I'm just thinking right now, this is romantic.
15:20It's like we're making our 26 years, Greg.
15:21I think what's really interesting is that in the zero to 25 years, neither one of us ever
15:27once forgot an anniversary and we chose to both forget together on the 26th year.
15:33That's very romantic.
15:34We're very tuned into dobleness and another phase.
15:38Phase of forgetfulness and slackness.
15:42Slack phase, I like it.
15:43And a waning of the romance.
15:46Everyone knows we love each other.
15:47Kind of sick of it, let's be honest.
15:48Let's carry on.
15:50Let's celebrate a year of slackness.
15:52Yeah, exactly.
15:54You used to have a good day of surfing.
15:55A good day of surfing.
15:56Happy anniversary.
15:57What did you say? Surf's up?
15:58Surf's up.
16:00Not quite yet, but...
16:03A wee bit more coffee first.
16:05All right.
16:06Go!
16:09I'm going to wake you up early because I'm going to take a ride with you.
16:14So I put the Beach Boys on, Jules.
16:16Of course.
16:17Just to kind of, you know, gently remind you that...
16:20I know you went to see Oasis.
16:22I didn't go with you because Noel Gallagher,
16:25who was uncommentary about Brian Wilson, you see.
16:27I'm sure he didn't mean it.
16:28He said that he was overrated, so I'm team Beach Boys.
16:33We're rambling a few miles south round to Caldingham Bay.
16:37To meet a family who gave up farming for all things surf related.
16:43Look at the weather gig, it's beautiful.
16:45Coast along here is so bonny, isn't it?
16:48Oh, it's fantastic.
16:50Could have took Bonnie for a walk to England.
16:52It was about five minutes of the border.
16:53Would you have liked that, Bonnie?
16:55Yes.
17:03The Beach Boys are all about surfing.
17:05Do you know that Brian Wilson couldn't surf?
17:07What?
17:08Yeah.
17:08I think people would be quite amazed at that,
17:10because they've never done chatting about it.
17:13I was quite emotional when Brian Wilson died.
17:15Because the Beach Boys were the first band I ever saw live in 1985.
17:19But you just realise life's short, don't you?
17:21And you just have to get up and...
17:23Well, there's the message right there, isn't it?
17:25Life is short.
17:25If you're going to go surfing, don't talk about it.
17:28Go do it.
17:34Oh, there we go.
17:37Look at that sunshine.
17:39It's like California sunshine.
17:40It looks beautiful already.
17:43We're meeting a fella called Steve and his daughters,
17:46who run a mini Scottish surfing industry based at their shop.
17:54Hello.
17:55This is so cool.
17:56Are we on the east coast of Scotland,
17:58or are we on the set of Home and Away?
18:00I wish.
18:01Hi, I'm Gilles.
18:02Nice to meet you.
18:03How are you doing?
18:04Lovely to meet you.
18:05You too.
18:05Your spot's amazing.
18:07Hi.
18:07Hi.
18:08Now, Steve, are you making crystal meth?
18:12Is this breaking bad?
18:13It's nothing to do with surfing at all.
18:15Keep it quiet.
18:16What about your dress like that?
18:17Yeah, fixing surfboards.
18:19Tell us about the kind of things you do here, Steve.
18:21So we hire surfing equipment, sell it, repair it, teach it,
18:25and then we have paddle boards and kayaks.
18:27We bought these premises in 2002.
18:31We were just going to open this hotel.
18:32Right.
18:33And then we've seen people surfing.
18:34We started doing a bit of hire.
18:35I thought, I'd better learn to surf.
18:37Remember that day, I stood up on the board like it was a hook.
18:39It never stopped.
18:40So it's just gone with the flow, as they say.
18:42And how long were you in the farming life before you decided to pivot to surfing?
18:45I was third generation.
18:46Third generation.
18:47Born on a farm.
18:48Is this less stressful?
18:49Yes.
18:50I'm more in control of my business.
18:51Where farming, you put where you work in, and then somebody else's friend tells you what
18:56they're going to pay you for it.
18:57And how long does it take to teach somebody how to surf?
19:00It's a lifetime journey.
19:01Ah.
19:02Never stop learning.
19:03Yeah.
19:03I'll get you the basics, and then you go away and build on it.
19:05It's up to us after that.
19:07A minute to learn a lifetime to master.
19:09Yes.
19:10Probably a lifetime if not long enough.
19:11What kind of surf can we expect today down there?
19:13Small, but interesting.
19:15Is it like jewels?
19:16That sounds good.
19:17I'm into that.
19:18So before we go down, is it okay to have a little...
19:20I know he's dying too.
19:21Can we have a little peek at the workshop?
19:23Okay, come have a look.
19:24Oh, thank you.
19:25Is it here?
19:26Oh, this is amazing.
19:27You can see all the magic happens.
19:29Do you want me to ask him what's that smell?
19:30Is that the stuff you use?
19:31Resins.
19:32Yeah, poxy resins.
19:33Wow.
19:33Would you ever have imagined back when you were farming
19:35that this would be your life?
19:36No.
19:37If somebody says you're going to be like packing up farming
19:39and you're going to teach people to surf and fix boards,
19:41I'd be like, your crystal ball's broken.
19:43But see, that's what I love hearing,
19:46because I think people get stuck in their minds,
19:48go, this is my life now, and you're just living proof
19:51that you can pivot and change at any point.
19:53I was 36 when I started surfing.
19:55Never too old.
19:56I think surf lessons, I think the oldest I've had has been 70,
20:00something, 75, 76, maybe.
20:02I'm getting really excited now, are you?
20:04Super excited.
20:05Let's get changed.
20:05Do you need to get suited up?
20:06A few moments later.
20:19You're doing it wrong, do you love that?
20:20I was doing it wrong, that's quite a riot.
20:22I was doing it wrong.
20:23Walking on the beaches, looking at the beaches.
20:27Today, thanks to Steve, we're properly kitted out with long wetsuits.
20:31I'm not going to lie, I can't feel like I suffer already.
20:34You've jumped me down with that part, haven't I?
20:35But still.
20:36We should be able to stay in the water for a good old long time.
20:40So when you get on your board, it's hands on the rail, leg out straight, toes in the tail, elbows
20:45up what I call chicken wings. Waves coming, four or five good paddles, push forward,
20:51bring your knees up, slide it between the hands, and then I'm using my arms to push my weight onto
20:57my feet surfing, easy as that.
20:59Wait, it looks so easy.
20:59You do.
21:02It's almost like you've been doing it for a few years.
21:04Oh, a couple of weeks, a couple of weeks.
21:07Okay, are you ready? Paddle, rails, it's up onto the knees, nice and square, front foot,
21:15you see my foot's comfy. Use arms, push your weight onto your feet.
21:21Okay, let's do a few more.
21:24Yep, totally got that, Steve's a great teacher.
21:26This is going to be a walk in the park. I'm going to catch you too.
21:31Okay, Greg, let's chat, more surfing.
21:34Are we ready?
21:35Yeah, are you nervous?
21:37I'm nervous about looking like an idiot.
21:40It's too late for that.
21:42I don't care.
21:43Cool.
21:44Are you ready?
21:44Yeah, let's go and do it.
21:47It's the quietest you've ever seen me, hasn't it?
21:50I think it's right in.
21:54Okay, time to put it all together.
21:55Now, who's first?
21:57I'll go first.
21:58You got this, MP.
22:05That's your time.
22:09Oh, Greg, is that it?
22:12All right, Jules, let's see what you can do.
22:14It's more than you left.
22:16It's good.
22:17It's good.
22:19It's good.
22:23Away, there!
22:25Quite exciting.
22:26We've got one foot up.
22:28It's come back today.
22:31Okay, Greg, be one with the water.
22:33This is the one.
22:34This is your moment.
22:37Okay, so we're hardly point break.
22:41It's working hard.
22:42But that's not really the point.
22:45It's great fun.
22:46Come on, Greg!
22:51Oh, my God.
22:53Oh, my God!
22:55Oh, my God!
22:56Oh, my God!
22:57My God!
22:59Oh, my God!
23:03You better smile!
23:09She's up.
23:10She's up.
23:11Hang on, so am I.
23:12What is going on?
23:21Yes!
23:23Amazing!
23:26Super fun.
23:27Jules, it's definitely got the hang of it.
23:29I think Scotland beat Canada.
23:30It's very tough, but I guess it's about how many arrows you're prepared to put into it.
23:35To be honest with you, it's very addictive.
23:38I could see myself doing this again.
23:40The thing is, once you do it once, even for a split second, and these are small waves,
23:43you can't wait to try it again.
23:49Amazing!
23:50I was really nervous, but you get a buzz.
23:54That is not easy.
23:55But he says the yoga helps.
23:57Yoga's paying off.
23:59Really well.
24:00Those small waves are quite challenging.
24:02They've been a bit bigger, you get a bit more speed.
24:04Makes life a lot easier.
24:05She picked up the quickest, didn't she?
24:07Yeah, third wave.
24:08Third wave!
24:10You've got two converts completely addicted instantly.
24:13You dropped it to land.
24:14Thanks, man.
24:15Thanks so much.
24:15That's all, it's been an absolute pleasure.
24:17Oh, no, you've been brilliant.
24:20Time to try out the final part of the family surfing empire, the beach cafe.
24:54So you've got this family business, Steve.
24:56I love so much when you're talking about bringing kids up here and stuff.
24:59For the grandkids themselves, I'm teaching them to surf, snorkelling.
25:02They've never brought up in it.
25:03They're living in the California dream.
25:05In Cullingham, yes.
25:06Yeah.
25:07I mean, you have it all here.
25:08You really do.
25:09The great thing about the surfer vibe is it's so chill.
25:13No one's competitive.
25:14It's just about you and the sea.
25:17Ah, speak for yourself, Jules.
25:19If you were handing out a rosette to one of us, who would get it?
25:25Jules.
25:26You did ask, Greg.
25:28But if I was handing one for effort, to you.
25:30Ah, Steve.
25:32Charmer.
25:32That's good.
25:33Effort.
25:34Never mind, Greg.
25:35I was quite shocked at how exhausted it was.
25:39It's so tiring.
25:41Yeah, it's a good workout physically and mentally.
25:43Absolutely.
25:44Would you do it again?
25:45100% Steve.
25:46I hate to tell you, but we're coming back.
25:48That's fine.
25:48There you go.
25:49We're definitely coming back.
25:51I wouldn't have resent.
25:52He's only being polite like this because it's our anniversary today.
25:54He's actually raging inside.
25:57I'm a ball of anger and bitterness.
26:01Thanks so much for having us.
26:02I know.
26:02Thank you so much.
26:04It's been so lovely.
26:07I think you need a wee walk to calm down.
26:10I'm fine, Jules.
26:11It's fine.
26:14Bonnie wants to stop.
26:16Oh, he's gorgeous.
26:18Oh, Bonnie, that's nice.
26:21How lovely has this been?
26:23It's been fantastic.
26:24I feel as if we've hit the ground running.
26:27We have.
26:28Or snorkelling.
26:28We've hit the ground snorkelling and surfing.
26:30I like the borders.
26:32Me too.
26:33But it definitely feels different.
26:35I'm like, I'm in England in my head.
26:37Yeah.
26:38This is when I feel half English proper, you see.
26:41It's when the Liverpool sight comes out in me.
26:46Where are we going next?
26:47So we're going inland.
26:49And we're going to be beside the River Tweed.
26:52Right.
26:53Are we going to swim in the river?
26:54We sure are.
26:55We're going to be doing some foraging.
26:56I'm not doing that.
26:57You are doing that.
26:58It's all part of nature.
27:00You'll love it.
27:02Yeah.
27:03I'm excited.
27:09So we moved down here.
27:10You'd become a surf champ.
27:12Yes.
27:14And I'd never get my hands on that rosette.
27:16We'd better start prepping up.
27:18I might be able to have left it too late at 55, though.
27:22No, that's what we're learning.
27:24You've never left it too late.
27:25Lifelong learning.
27:26Never too late to pick up a board and hit the waves.
27:28Exactly.
27:30Thanks, Steve.
27:44Thanks, Steve.
