00:01Rescuers on Monday battled to pull people out of the rubble after a building collapsed in the Philippines the day
00:06before.
00:07Search and rescue operations continued after overnight scans detected signs of life beneath the debris in Angeles City, north of
00:14Manila.
00:15Several fatalities have been confirmed, but the final toll remains unclear.
00:21Bureau of Fire Protection Information Officer Maria Lea Sahili said over a dozen people were missing,
00:27most of them construction workers, listed as on-duty at the site.
00:31Families of the victims have grown increasingly impatient with the pace of the operations.
00:36When I arrived, my husband couldn't be contacted anymore.
00:42Someone told me that the building he was working on collapsed.
00:46That's how I found out.
00:48It's been hours.
00:49They're probably dead by now.
00:51They've been there for more than 24 hours without food and probably without water, too.
00:57I'm no longer expecting them to survive, but I hope the rescue operations move faster.
01:03Planning records show the building was approved as a nine-story condo hotel,
01:07but that a swimming pool was being constructed on an additional 10th floor.
01:12Officials said an investigation into what caused the collapse was underway.
