00:43Hello, good morning.
00:45Hi, Doc Patricia, thank you for joining us today.
01:06Doc.
01:08Okay, so ang sunburn is a type of superficial burn or first-degree burn,
01:12meaning it only affects the outer layer of our skin.
01:15So we develop redness tapos ma-hapdate din yung affected areas.
01:20This happens when we spend too much time under the sun without any sun protection.
01:24Although we commonly associate it with a day at the beach or an outdoor physical activity,
01:30pwede din ito, we get it from day-to-day activities like pagbibilad sa tabi ng kalsada.
01:53maapdi yung suka,
01:53o agad-agad na paglalagay ng yelo.
01:56Alin po ba dito yung efektibo at alin po yung pwedeng lalong makasira
02:00o yung magpalala doon sa sunburn?
02:01Yung iba pa nga, parang binabakbak nila eh.
02:05So sa mentioned home remedies po ninyo,
02:08none of them are actually considered safe for the skin.
02:11Substances like toothpaste, vinegar, and ice
02:14can just exacerbate the burn or make it worse.
02:16The proper thing to apply is to apply cool, damp cloths
02:20and use topical cooling gels like aloe vera.
02:22Hmm.
02:30Oo, so we have photoprotective practices.
02:33So this includes seeking shade during very hot hours,
02:37which is between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
02:40wearing a wide-brimmed hat,
02:41and of course, the proper application of sunscreen or sunblock.
02:45Okay. Doc, pagka po yung nag-apply ng sunblock,
02:49kailangan ba siya yung para mag-fade?
02:51Kasi minsan pagka sobrang kapal,
03:04The right amount of sunscreen for the face is about 2 finger lengths.
03:08So yung pagpuputi ng face mo,
03:10it's actually dependent of the kind of sunscreen you apply.
03:14If it's a mineral sunscreen,
03:15medyo nag-whitecast yun, but that's okay pa rin.
03:18And if it's chemical sunscreen,
03:20hindi po nagkaka-whitecast.
03:22Di ba may mga SPF, SPF yan?
03:24Ano ba yung ideal or recommended?
03:29So an SPF 30, a broad-spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection is ideal po.
03:37So SPF 30.
03:43I mean, mawawash out siya.
03:50So for the sunblock to be effective,
03:53you have to wait about 20 minutes before getting wet
03:56or even perspiration or sweating
03:59para maabsorb talaga sa skin.
04:01Okay, ganun pala yun.
04:03Eh di ba may mga gusto magpa-tan?
04:05Yes.
04:06Paano ba yan, Doc?
04:07Grab kalagay din ng sunscreen.
04:10Para may tan lines.
04:12So tanning of the skin is,
04:16already a sign of sun damage po.
04:18So ideally,
04:19hindi po natin pinapatan yung skin.
04:23Mayroon naman po mga spray tans
04:25that are available na
04:26don't involve UV exposure.
04:29Mga foreigners kasi, di ba?
04:32Yan ang mga ginagawa sa Pilipinas.
04:33Pero ito, Doc,
04:34pag pinabayaan,
04:36kasi yung iba naman parang wapakes,
04:38mainitan ng araw, bumilad sa araw,
04:40okay lang.
04:41Kaso ano ba ang worst case scenario
04:42kapag pinabayaan ito
04:44o kaya nakaugalian na labas lang,
04:45walang sunscreen?
04:50So for that,
04:51mayroon pong sunburn na
04:53instead of nagiging
04:55first degree burn siya,
04:56it becomes a second degree burn.
04:58So nagde-develop ng blisters yung patient.
05:00Minsan, mayroon ding sun poisoning
05:02or an allergic reaction
05:03to sun exposure
05:04na mayroon ding
05:06systemic symptoms like
05:07fever, nausea,
05:08headache, chills,
05:09and vomiting.
05:10Okay.
05:11So pagka nagsimula pong
05:13madry yung sunburn,
05:15Doc,
05:15kailangan ba,
05:17ano yun,
05:17babalatan natin,
05:19parang gano'n,
05:19are we gonna peel it off
05:20or hayaan lang natin siya
05:22na mag-heal?
05:24Pwede naman din
05:25hayaan lang po yung sunburn
05:27mag-heal off,
05:28but you can assist
05:29the wound healing process
05:30by applying
05:31mga mild moisturizers
05:33or petroleum jelly
05:34on affected areas.
05:36Ito sa mga nagpa-plano
05:37na mag-summer vacation,
05:39ah,
05:39bol,
05:40o kaya araw-araw po
05:41na nakababad po
05:42sa araw,
05:43naghahanap buhay.
05:44Ano po yung mga
05:45paalala po ninyo,
05:47Doc,
05:48para po
05:48ma-entry naman po
05:49itong tag-init
05:50at mag-appanan po nila
05:51yung kanilang trabaho
05:52ng protectado po
05:53ang kanilang bala.
05:57So since sunscreen is,
05:59it can be expensive po,
06:01yung practical talaga
06:02na advice
06:02is to avoid the sun
06:04when it is at its peak.
06:05So like I said,
06:06between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
06:08Or seek shade
06:09or magpasilong
06:10as much as possible.
06:11Pwede rin naman tayong
06:13magsuot ng
06:14photoprotective clothing
06:15like mga lightweight
06:16na long sleeves
06:17and malaki na hat.
06:19Tapos,
06:19sa exposed areas,
06:20doon na lang po tayo
06:21maglagay ng sunscreen
06:22para makatipid po tayo.
06:24Si Doc,
06:24ang ganda ng skin.
06:25Oo nga eh.
06:26Virtual latin kasama.
06:28Gusto ko tanongin
06:29ano po,
06:30skin care no, Doc?
06:30Pero for sure,
06:32nagsa-sunscreen niya si Doc.
06:34Well, on that note,
06:35marami-marami salamat po,
06:36Doc Patricia Salon
06:37sa pagbibigay ng oras
06:38at ng mga kaalaman
06:40patungkol po sa sunburn.
06:41Mag-iingat po tayo palagi
06:42mga ka-RSP.
06:43Thanks Doc.
06:43Thanks Doc.
