00:01:29So here's my take on a high school, veteran journalist that I am.
00:01:34Just about everything we do, we do because we're afraid.
00:01:38Hey Angela, over here.
00:01:43I'm afraid of not being able to get into college, afraid of not being able to pay for college, afraid
00:01:50of not being able to meet our parents' expectations, afraid of being socially isolated, afraid of
00:01:57our futures, afraid of our pasts, afraid of being alone.
00:02:01Jordan, Angela, let me get a pic.
00:02:03Smile.
00:02:05And even though a part of me knows that these fears are, for the most part, suburban, cry
00:02:10me a river, hashtag stop whining like a little baby type problems, it is also true that sometimes
00:02:16our fear is completely justified.
00:02:23My dear Juliet, why are you still so beautiful?
00:02:30Did you get good pics?
00:02:31Dad, I was in love with you.
00:02:33Oh, sorry for asking.
00:02:35I'll forget about all the bad luck that has troubled me.
00:02:42Eyes, look out for the last time.
00:02:45Arms, make your last embrace and lips.
00:02:50You are the doors to breath.
00:02:54Powerful performance.
00:02:55Nate.
00:02:56No, seriously though.
00:02:58Jordan just oozes masculinity.
00:03:00He's like Brando out there.
00:03:02And Angela is Juliet.
00:03:04I mean, she plays comatose really well.
00:03:07She's actually almost making me forget the degree to which she's a full-blown bitch.
00:03:15Come, bitter poison.
00:03:18Come, unsavory guide, you desperate pilot.
00:03:22Set the sea-weary ship into the rocks.
00:03:29Here's to my love.
00:03:40Oh.
00:03:42That pharmacist was honest.
00:03:45His drugs work quickly.
00:03:48So I die with the kiss.
00:04:08Romeo?
00:04:09Romeo?
00:04:11Romeo?
00:04:13Jordan!
00:04:15Jordan!
00:04:17Somebody help me!
00:04:19Oh, my God!
00:04:54when a free radical is introduced to a closed system the potential result is an explosive
00:05:03chemical reaction excuse me jane if i may yes hi everyone so we've all been through a very
00:05:15traumatic experience with the death of jordan and i would like to introduce emily hodges she's a
00:05:23grief counselor so this is gonna be awkward your mom counseling her grieving her shut up i'm just
00:05:30saying hi i know many of you are feeling anxiety stress deep loss and sadness
00:05:43these feelings are very hard to process and they are completely normal please come talk to me
00:05:51i have an office next to miss popes and my door is always open and on a final note there
00:05:59will likely
00:06:00be reporters poking around here over the next few days asking questions about jordan i want to be
00:06:07very clear no one is to talk to the media let's just keep this within the westbrook family
00:06:18thank you jane
00:06:36must be so weird what being the grief counselor's daughter and having her right here all up in my
00:06:42bigness oh yeah it's delightful come on you guys are so tight see but i'm working on the whole teen
00:06:48angst thing and i feel like i should be saying she sucks
00:06:52hey mate one of my chop liver wait for it got almost wait for it yeah got it yeah
00:07:05that's so mean it's all part of my charm
00:07:10dude so i'm the one from the play oh jordan slightly less charming a little horrific actually
00:07:15oh i can't look at these jordan was my first hashtag squad goals interview
00:07:20that's so sad so what they're saying it was his peanut allergy it's so weird you can die from that
00:07:26i don't even get how it happened he was so vigilant about it i mean the whole school was
00:07:31there was nothing in the lunchroom nothing in the vending machines i know so unfair i haven't had a
00:07:36snickers bar since like middle school i'm just saying my rights have been violated
00:07:41rumor has it this totally opens up the scholarship yeah jordan was a shoo-in you mean the whole world
00:07:46patrons thing oh it's a sweet deal i mean full books and board everything hey maybe i have a shot
00:07:51now probably better shot than i do wrong you're perfect for it the top citizen at westbrook that's
00:07:57a laugh so uh how's the yearbook going by the way oh it's fine whatever it's genius people are
00:08:03actually gonna buy it this year stop i'm serious interviewing every click i love it
00:08:09about the granolas the emos the nerds hello but how am i supposed to focus on the yearbook when
00:08:17this whole death by peanut thing is so suspicious right a little bit yeah what do you mean he had
00:08:23an allergy and people die from that we even had an assembly about it i'm not denying he had an
00:08:28allergy
00:08:28jill it's just hope there's a horrible person that and the fact that the first thing she said
00:08:33was don't talk to the media that's something you say when you're trying to cover something up
00:08:38yeah remember the whole media blackout thing after the great inflation i mean she's a total corporate
00:08:42robot you guys are so paranoid i'm just saying my spidey sense is tingling it is weird oh you mean
00:08:49rudy well yeah rudy but the whole jordan thing i mean somebody should dig into it sounds like a job
00:08:55for you girl what you're the reporter i mean look we already have to do interviews might as well kill
00:09:01two birds with one stone see if your spidey sense is on point i like it sweet let's you and
00:09:07me do some
00:09:07interviews
00:09:14so what do you know not much more than i told you last night
00:09:19the police department isn't going to investigate let's talk in my office
00:09:30the police are saying they still have some unanswered questions and uh i am going to do
00:09:37everything i can to get to the bottom of this but this is a particularly delicate situation
00:09:46so when you talk to the kids i'm going to need you to tell me everything that you find out
00:09:54well what the kids say in session with me is confidential
00:09:57unless it's relevant to a crime
00:10:00and we wouldn't want anything hurting your daughter's school would we
00:10:10no of course not
00:10:15look i'm not asking you to do anything illegal
00:10:18i just need you to be my eyes and ears out there
00:10:22and if you hear something i want to know about it first
00:10:28samantha hey
00:10:30how long have you been standing there
00:10:31oh just got here um i'm doing a story for squad goals and i was wondering if i could talk
00:10:37to you
00:10:38of course let me just take your mom to her office
00:10:40you can wait here
00:11:05i'll be completely candid
00:11:07the reynolds happen to be huge financial supporters powers
00:11:10very connected to the westbrook community
00:11:12so the last thing we need is for an intrusive investigation to trigger our biggest backers
00:11:17to pull their support
00:11:18would they do that
00:11:19trust me i've been at the school for 19 years
00:11:23investigations like this almost always lead to reckless accusations
00:11:26and when one donor pulls out
00:11:28they can start an avalanche
00:11:30there goes our funding
00:11:31our charter
00:11:32and our jobs
00:11:34okay
00:11:36i'll do what i can to try and help
00:11:38that's all i'm asking
00:11:40let me know if you need anything else
00:12:06okay samantha how can i help you
00:12:08this will only take a minute i promise
00:12:10it's for squad goals and i'm on a deadline
00:12:13um okay well i should tell you now though i don't know the results of the student council
00:12:17oh actually i'm not here for that
00:12:20what i'd like to know is
00:12:25you know what i'm really busy right now
00:12:27why don't we reschedule this
00:12:28is it true that
00:12:29it would be better for you
00:12:31i mean for the school
00:12:34if jordan's death is ruled an accident
00:12:37rather than something else
00:12:41what do you mean something else
00:12:44i don't know i just
00:12:45that's right you don't know
00:12:48and that was an extremely inappropriate question
00:12:51i don't think your mother would appreciate that either
00:12:54i was just asking
00:12:55you know why don't you just go on back to class
00:12:57and i will try to forget
00:12:59just how immensely disrespectful you were
00:13:05for the record
00:13:07samantha
00:13:09jordan's death was an accident
00:13:13and it was tragic
00:13:28hey wait up
00:13:31what's so funny
00:13:32i was just thinking nate
00:13:34remember how you used to follow me around everywhere in elementary school
00:13:39nate
00:13:39yeah
00:13:40what are you looking at
00:13:42uh nothing
00:13:42um hey what did pope say
00:13:44did she reveal anything sinister
00:13:46totally seems like she's hiding something
00:13:49and i did manage to get a copy
00:13:50of the world patron scholarship finalists
00:13:52no way
00:13:53are you serious let me see
00:13:55so after jordan

00:14:06and work 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day of the week
00:14:09including weekends and holidays
00:14:10i could afford to pay for college by what year 3000
00:14:14i'm in the same boat
00:14:15well not the early admission boat that you two geniuses are in but still
00:14:20i promise i'll talk to my parents they're on the selection committee
00:14:24we're going to college together
00:14:26i'm not a charity case jill
00:14:27i mean plus your parents hate me so
00:14:29we'll figure it out
00:14:32so britney's the favorite for the scholarship
00:14:34just because she raised 12 grand
00:14:36from a car wash
00:14:37no big deal
00:14:38so they hand their skirts
00:14:39and overcharge creepy old men
00:14:41and rudy
00:14:41to wash their cars
00:14:43real hero of our times
00:14:44i spent 30 bucks on that car wash
00:14:47it was worth every penny
00:14:49jesus
00:14:52ready okay
00:14:54a-t-t-a-c-k attack attack attack
00:15:06now that britney's on the top of the scholarship list

00:15:40awesome
00:15:41um how would you define hashtag squad goals for the cheer squad
00:15:45well and this might sound a little braggy
00:15:48but i like to think of us as the heart and soul of the school
00:15:51and i know the stereotype is that we're silly slutty and stupid but
00:15:56that's not us
00:15:57we get great grades
00:15:59we volunteer and we support our teams
00:16:01and i love basketball so it's great

00:21:53Oh, my God.
00:21:58Oh, my God.
00:22:41Hey, Mom.
00:22:42Hey, Mom.
00:22:43Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait.
00:22:44Stop.
00:22:45Hey, Mom.
00:22:46That's all I'm going to get?
00:22:48Um, love you.
00:22:51You okay?
00:22:52Yeah, I'm fine.
00:22:53I'm good.
00:22:54Uh-huh.
00:22:55You don't seem fine.
00:22:56No, really.
00:22:57Um, school's just a little crazy.
00:22:59That's all.
00:23:00Well, I had a little chat with Miss Pope this afternoon, and guess what the subject was?
00:23:05Me?
00:23:07Why on earth would you accuse your principal, who is my boss, by the way, of a crime?
00:23:13That is what you did, right?
00:23:15I wasn't accusing her of anything, Mom.
00:23:17I was just asking if...
00:23:19If she was complicit in a criminal conspiracy that resulted in a young man's death.
00:23:26I'm just trying to figure out exactly what happened, because apparently no one else is.
00:23:31Excuse me?
00:23:31I'm just saying, it doesn't seem like anyone's the slightest bit interested in getting to the bottom of Jordan's death.
00:23:38All Miss Pope cares about is test scores and appearances and...
00:23:43You are not even 18.
00:23:45How are you such a cynic?
00:23:47I'm a reporter, and we're not getting the full story.
00:23:49You are not a reporter yet.
00:23:52You are a high school student with a chance to get into college.
00:23:56All I'm saying is don't blow it.
00:23:59Please.
00:24:00And?
00:24:03Apologize to Miss Pope first thing in the morning, okay?
00:24:07Okay.
00:24:08I gotta go upstairs.
00:24:11And then you're coming right back down for dinner.
00:24:14Yeah.
00:24:15Yes?
00:24:16Yes.
00:24:21No, no, no, no.
00:24:22Of course.
00:24:23Of course.
00:24:25Yes, and please know that I am doubling down on my efforts to make Westbrook High School the safest high
00:24:30school in the city.
00:24:34Okay.
00:24:35Bye-bye.
00:24:39God, Sam, what is it?
00:24:41May I come in?
00:24:43Yes, you may.
00:24:49I just wanted to say I'm so sorry about our conversation yesterday.
00:24:55I didn't mean to imply anything about anything.
00:25:00I'm just upset.
00:25:02We all are, and I guess I was just trying to sort through some stuff, you know, figure stuff out.
00:25:11Okay, well, next time you need to sort through some stuff, I suggest you sort it through with your mother.
00:25:20I will.
00:25:24You need to watch your step, Samantha.
00:25:27Just because your mom works here now doesn't give you free reign to treat adults with disrespect.
00:25:47How are you doing, man?
00:25:48You okay?
00:25:49Yeah, I'm good.
00:25:50A little creeped out, but that's pretty normal around here.
00:25:52Yeah, me too.
00:25:54I mean, everybody's grieving.
00:25:55And I've been thinking.
00:25:57That's a first.
00:25:58You know what would really help everyone?
00:26:00I mean, what would start the healing process?
00:26:02What?
00:26:03A massive blowout party.
00:26:05Dude, my parents are going out of town tonight.
00:26:07Yeah, you should invite everyone.
00:26:08Hells yeah, Nate.
00:26:09And bring your camera, because it's going to be insane.
00:26:11Hey, look at this picture of Sam.
00:26:14Yeah, it's cute.
00:26:15What about it?
00:26:16You think she'll be at your party?
00:26:17Her mom's on the strict trip.
00:26:20Dude.
00:26:20What?
00:26:21Come on.
00:26:22Are you going to ask Sam out, or are you just going to keep annoying the crap out of me?
00:26:25Okay, well, one, those aren't mutually exclusive.
00:26:27And two, yes, I will ask her out.
00:26:29When?
00:26:30I'm laying the groundwork.
00:26:30I need a little time.
00:26:32You're laying the groundwork?
00:26:33How?
00:26:34Yeah, I told her she has a nice jacket.
00:26:36Oh, and I thought I had no game.
00:26:38It's a process, dude.
00:26:39I'm just laying seed here.
00:26:41Weighing seed?
00:26:43Now we've got to let it grow.
00:26:45At least something's getting laid.
00:26:49Let me see the picture.
00:26:52And it's really nice.
00:26:57Okay, guys, let's talk access to.
00:27:00When we're talking about access to disorders, and that term is rapidly becoming antiquated,
00:27:05what we're talking about are personality disorders.
00:27:08Thank you, Rudy.
00:27:09Please have a seat.
00:27:10Borderline, paranoid, antisocial, narcissistic.
00:27:13All real fun stuff.
00:27:15Got good news, my friend.
00:27:17And it probably describes about two-thirds of the student body at my last high school.
00:27:21What?
00:27:22Just kidding.
00:27:23I'm having a party tomorrow night.
00:27:25Rudy.
00:27:26Do you have something to share with the class?
00:27:30Yes.
00:27:31I'm having a party tomorrow night, and I'd love for you to come.
00:27:35Okay.
00:27:35Well, I'm flattered, but that ain't going to happen.
00:27:37Now, back to the lesson.
00:27:39Big generalization coming.
00:27:40But for a lot of these maladaptive personalities, do you know what the most common shared traits
00:27:45are?
00:27:45Of course, selfishness and grandiosity, thinking you're the bee's knees, are tied for first.
00:27:50But the other trait that you always see is sarcasm.
00:27:54Now, write this down.
00:27:57Sarcasm is really just hostility disguised as humor.
00:28:12I mean, yeah, it's a part, but it's not me.
00:28:15We're also asking everybody about Jordan.
00:28:19Um, I didn't really know him all that well.
00:28:22Look, I gotta get it back to practice.
00:28:25Thanks.
00:28:26Thanks.
00:28:54I invited your mom, but she told me she's not going to come.
00:28:57Enjoying my computer?
00:28:59Try to download pictures of the paper.
00:29:01We're on deadline, lady.
00:29:02Some of those are personal.
00:29:04Come on, I've known you since kindergarten.
00:29:06How personal can I get?
00:29:08But seriously, you've been doing some really good work.
00:29:10So artistic.
00:29:12See, I'm artsy.
00:29:14So, is the investigation coming along?
00:29:15Uh, you know, no solid leads yet.
00:29:18We need to do a lot more footwork, but you could do some digging at my party.
00:29:21Everyone's coming.
00:29:22Did he mention he's having a party?
00:29:24I'm having a party.
00:29:26Oh, damn.
00:29:27I am late for P.E.
00:29:31See you later, Nate.
00:29:37Dude, she's so into you.
00:29:38I mean, did you see her shirt?
00:29:39There's literally cameras on the shirt.
00:29:43Yeah, I mean, but...
00:29:45But Sam.
00:29:46Yeah.
00:29:48Hey, guys.
00:29:50I'm gonna handle this for you, brah.
00:29:52Sam.
00:29:53Nate.
00:29:54Nate.
00:29:55Sam.
00:29:55Sam, Nate has something he wants to tell you.
00:29:57And I'm a ghost.
00:30:00Ladies.
00:30:03Okay, I'm gonna say something to you.
00:30:06Okay.
00:30:07But before I do, let me just say that I had a plan to wait for the perfect moment.
00:30:11You know, like a movie moment where we could be in a situation.
00:30:13Like, one of those cool situations, and I could spontaneously...
00:30:16I have no idea what you're talking about.
00:30:19Me either.
00:30:20Let me just start over.
00:30:21So, you know, I'm a big, bitter, sarcastic, dark doofus.
00:30:27Right?
00:30:28Right.
00:30:29Wow, this is embarrassing.
00:30:31Uh, I'm a big, dark doofus who has a big, big crush on you.
00:30:35There, I said it.
00:30:36Now Rudy can leave me alone.
00:30:38Don't say anything.
00:30:39We're friends, I know.
00:30:40You can just, you know, sit with it for a bit.
00:30:42You or me, and then reject me later.
00:30:45Can I say something now?
00:30:48Please do.
00:30:51I have a crush on you, too.
00:30:53You do?
00:30:54I do.
00:30:56Doofus.
00:30:57Well then, that's pretty awesome.
00:31:02But we can't do anything.
00:31:05You gotta talk to Jillian.
00:31:07She has a major crush on you.
00:31:09No kidding.
00:31:11Look, she's my best friend, and I'm not about to sneak around behind her back.
00:31:16Talk to her.
00:31:18Uh, man, okay.
00:31:19Nate?
00:31:20If you want any of this, you gotta do the right thing.
00:31:25I'll lower it.
00:31:26I will talk to her at the party.
00:31:29Okay.
00:31:34Okay.
00:31:54Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,
00:32:04go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,
00:32:04go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,
00:32:04go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,
00:32:04go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,
00:32:04go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go
00:32:16Welcome to Rudy's Paradise
00:32:17Thank you
00:32:19Ladies, we have to take you for a rendezvous in exactly four drinks
00:32:22Beesh, beesh, all right
00:32:23Yeah, it is on
00:32:25Shall we retreat to my secret chamber?
00:32:29Come on
00:32:30Don't do it
00:32:44Holy crap, it is loud out there
00:32:46You asked for it, my man
00:32:47Yeah, but what the hell is the matter with you?
00:32:50You know I have no judgment
00:32:51You're supposed to stop me when I come up with this kind of stuff
00:32:54Um, what's with all the weapons?
00:32:56Oh, it's my dad's hobby
00:32:58But listen, nobody but us is allowed in this room, okay?
00:33:00I can handle the beatings for the general house damage
00:33:03But anything in here, and I'll never see the light of day
00:33:06Let's get out of here
00:33:07This place is creeping me out
00:33:12All right, let's go find you a woman of loose morals
00:33:15Yes, that too
00:33:38Wow, okay boss
00:33:41I'm not your boss
00:33:42I need to talk to you
00:33:52So, what's up?
00:33:53I need to ask you something
00:33:54Okay, shoot
00:33:55Okay, so I know you and Sam are, I don't know, flirting
00:34:00Which, I get, I guess
00:34:02I mean, she's so cute
00:34:04Jillian, what are you
00:34:05Let me finish
00:34:08I've been friends since kindergarten
00:34:09I think I deserve a little bit of attention
00:34:12I need to know how you feel about me
00:34:23Hey Jill
00:34:25Hey
00:34:27You okay?
00:34:28Yeah, I'm fine
00:34:29I'm going to the bathroom
00:34:31Is that okay?
00:34:33Do you want me to come?
00:34:35It's okay, Sam
00:34:36I've been going by myself since I was six
00:34:41Hey, have you seen Nate?
00:34:43Check upstairs, maybe
00:35:03Hey, Brittany, you seen Nate?
00:35:09You okay?
00:35:12Yeah
00:35:16Hey, Sam
00:35:17Um, um
00:35:18I'm sorry
00:35:19It's just
00:35:22Why are you crying?
00:35:28I came up here to fix my lipstick
00:35:30And, um
00:35:33What?
00:35:37I found this in my bag
00:35:44Is that
00:35:46Jordan kissing my boyfriend?
00:36:00Who would
00:36:01give this to you?
00:36:04Well, it wasn't Lance
00:36:06I just talked to him about it
00:36:08And he said that he doesn't know
00:36:09How I got there
00:36:12Honestly, right now
00:36:13I really don't care
00:36:17I'm so sorry, Brittany
00:36:21The truth is
00:36:22It's not really a huge surprise to me
00:36:27Obviously, Jordan was
00:36:30Pretty obvious
00:36:32And Lance and I
00:36:35He told me before
00:36:36That he had these
00:36:39Feelings
00:36:40You know
00:36:41About himself
00:36:42Which
00:36:44Is fine
00:36:46No feelings are feelings
00:36:48And I'm not judgmental
00:36:50But this is just making me look like a fool
00:36:57Brittany
00:36:58Leave
00:37:01Me
00:37:02Alone
00:37:03Lance
00:37:12Do you want me to talk to him?
00:37:21Whatever
00:37:26Okay
00:37:43Hey, check this out
00:37:45Oh, hey
00:37:46So, I saw Jillian
00:37:47I guess you got to her
00:37:49Yeah, it was pretty good
00:37:51You want to talk?
00:37:52Later
00:37:53I got to find Lance
00:38:13Hello?
00:38:17Who's there?
00:38:20Lance?
00:38:35No, it's fine
00:38:37I mean
00:38:37Have you seen Lance?
00:38:39What?
00:38:40Have you seen Lance?
00:38:42No, I haven't gotten anybody's fans
00:38:45I'm just kidding
00:38:46Okay
00:38:47I
00:38:47I know
00:38:49I mean, I haven't seen Lance
00:38:50Why?
00:38:51What's the
00:38:54What happened?
00:38:55Did you see that?
00:38:57Get an ambulance
00:39:15I'm so sorry
00:39:17I'm so sorry
00:39:19I'm so sorry
00:39:20I'm so sorry
00:39:41No
00:39:45So you just turned 18
00:39:48Don't really know the truth. I was having some people over.
00:39:53Are you serving alcohol?
00:39:54Serving alcohol? No. I was not serving alcohol.
00:39:59There's alcohol everywhere.
00:40:00I mean, if people brought alcohol, I don't know. I'm not the police. Whatever.
00:40:05I was having some people over, word got out on social media, and things got a little out of control.
00:40:13A little out of control? A girl died in your driveway.
00:40:18Where are your parents?
00:40:20They were gone for the weekend, but they're coming back now.
00:40:23Okay. You just tell me everything you know.
00:40:28She was in my sister's room, I think. I don't really know what was going on.
00:40:35To be honest, I barely knew the girl. Apparently, she was upset. I don't really know why or what happened.
00:40:44Boy, you better give me something better than that.
00:40:55The cops were all over me.
00:40:57I saw.
00:41:01They let you go?
00:41:02Yeah, of course.
00:41:05Why wouldn't they?
00:41:08You think I had something to do with it?
00:41:10No. No. I was... I didn't mean to imply, but...
00:41:14Yeah, you say that, but how come it sounds like you don't believe me?
00:41:18I do believe you. I just... I need to talk to you about something else.
00:41:27Brittany showed me the picture of you and Jordan.
00:41:37I don't know what to tell you.
00:41:49I've... I've just been dealing...
00:41:55Jordan was my best friend.
00:42:00I don't know what to call it.
00:42:04I know what my dad would call it, but...
00:42:08I had nothing to do with that but that photo.
00:42:18Why would I want Brittany to find something like that anyway?
00:42:20I wouldn't want to hurt her.
00:42:24I can't believe she's dead.
00:42:28First Jordan, now Brittany.
00:42:48What's happening?
00:42:50It's like everything is spinning out of control.
00:42:53Yeah, I know. Everything's been pretty crazy.
00:42:56Yeah.
00:42:57Are you okay?
00:42:58I'm better.
00:43:02So, we should talk.
00:43:04What about me?
00:43:07What about him?
00:43:09He told me he had a crush on me yesterday.
00:43:12I told Nate he had to talk to you.
00:43:15He had to be honest.
00:43:17Whatever, Sam.
00:43:18I don't care. He's yours.
00:43:20Oh, but that's not how I want this to happen.
00:43:22This is how that stuff goes, okay?
00:43:23Some people win, other people lose.
00:43:26It's a long game.
00:43:27I'll get over it.
00:43:31I'm so sorry.
00:43:33This sucks.
00:43:34Yeah, it sure does.
00:43:36But it is what it is.
00:43:42Are we still friends?
00:43:43Of course.
00:43:45You just have to give me a minute to get over it.
00:44:05we do?
00:44:06Yeah.
00:44:18You.
00:44:23Yep.
00:44:34So I go.
00:44:35You wouldn't tell me what happened.
00:44:40I don't really know.
00:44:42Um, I was just trying to help a friend.
00:44:46Turns out her boyfriend was...
00:44:49Well, I don't really want to get into it all.
00:44:53Was he cheating on her?
00:44:56With another guy.
00:44:58Uh.
00:45:01Who?
00:45:02Do you know Lance Hobart?
00:45:05The basketball player?
00:45:08Apparently, he was in love with Jordan Reynolds.
00:45:13That's tough.
00:45:15Yeah.
00:45:17So, Brittany found out about it, and I was just trying to help her out.
00:45:25Honey.
00:45:28Were you with Brittany when she fell?
00:45:31No.
00:45:33I was downstairs, talking to Rudy.
00:45:36Were you drinking?
00:45:38Mom.
00:45:42Was Brittany?
00:45:44I don't know.
00:45:49She fell out of the window.
00:45:53And you're sure she fell?
00:45:57Yeah.
00:46:06I know that what I'm about to say is hard to hear.
00:46:14Do you think that there's any chance that she could have jumped?
00:46:20I don't know.
00:46:23Oh, sweetie.
00:46:24Come here.
00:46:30I'm so sorry.
00:46:31I don't know.
00:46:53This is unbelievable.
00:46:55Two deaths in less than a month.
00:46:58That's more than I've had in 19 years.
00:47:01We've got to get ahead of this.
00:47:03Well, I've reached out to Mr. Gomez and Ms. Reynolds, and they're both coming in for counseling.
00:47:08That's not the problem, Emily.
00:47:10These donor parents are not going to be happy with another incident.
00:47:14Especially if it's a suicide.
00:47:16We've got to call them.
00:47:19We've got to reassure them that there was an accident.
00:47:22But we don't know that it was...
00:47:24That it was an isolated incident.
00:47:26And that we are looking into every...
00:47:28But we don't know that it was an accident.
00:47:35Not knowing is not going to fly with these parents.
00:47:40God, it's probably been blasted out on every social media site by now.
00:47:46Oh, crap.
00:47:50Hello?
00:47:53No, I have no comment.
00:47:56We will let you know when we have more information to share.
00:48:01My sixth call since 5.30.
00:48:25Huh?
00:48:27Huh?
00:48:56Nate?
00:48:59Nate?
00:49:03Are you messing with me?
00:49:27Nate?
00:49:41Wow! Don't usually have that kind of effect on women.
00:49:43This isn't funny! You scared the hell out of me!
00:49:45I'm sorry. Are you okay?
00:49:48No. Where were you? You said you were gonna be in the old shop.
00:49:51I know. I got held after class by Perkins.
00:49:53Well, I'm pretty sure somebody's following me.
00:49:56Somebody's following you? Really?
00:49:57Definitely.
00:49:59I know someone was with me in the old shop.
00:50:01This is just too creepy.
00:50:03It feels like just yesterday, everything was great.
00:50:05Now, all of a sudden, my best friend hates my guts,
00:50:08and it seems like the school is haunted by a serial killer.
00:50:12So, what are we gonna do?
00:50:13I just can't stop thinking about Jordan.
00:50:16How the hell did he get exposed to freaking peanuts?
00:50:20You said it before. We were all so careful.
00:50:23Wait a minute. What was the last thing that touched his lips?
00:50:26The poison?
00:50:28Yeah, but the poison was water. We know it was tested.
00:50:30What else?
00:50:32Angela's lips.
00:50:45So, I'm flattered that you want to interview me,
00:50:48but isn't this squad goal thing just for seniors?
00:50:51Well, we're actually planning on doing a segment called
00:50:53Squads in the Making, so we thought of you.
00:50:56Okay, cool.
00:50:58So, what do you want to talk about?
00:51:00Well, you've been the stage manager for all the school plays this year?
00:51:04Uh-huh.
00:51:04That's pretty impressive.
00:51:06Don't they usually give that job to a senior?
00:51:08I don't know if it's impressive, but I guess they like my work.
00:51:13Can I get a tour?
00:51:15Sure.
00:51:18Yeah, so check this out.
00:51:20What show are you guys doing next?
00:51:21We get to do Hamilton.
00:51:23Really?
00:51:24Yeah, it's so exciting.
00:51:25Oh my gosh, you have to check out this jacket we made.
00:51:28Wait, you guys made that?
00:51:29Yeah.
00:51:30Oh my god.
00:51:31Doesn't it look so vintage?
00:51:33Yeah, I love the buttons.
00:51:34Thank you, we found a button store.
00:51:37Um, is that the Romeo and Juliet stuff?
00:51:41Yeah, well, whatever wasn't taken to evidence is still there.
00:51:44Well, I mean, I guess you don't really need the masks, right?
00:51:47Hey, you can pull that off.
00:51:49Thank you, it's my new look.
00:51:51And this is Juliet's, right?
00:51:53Yeah, Angela.
00:51:55Such a piece of work.
00:51:56Really?
00:51:57Yeah.
00:51:58Oh.
00:52:01Sorry.
00:52:02It's cool.
00:52:03I'm such a klutz.
00:52:04It happens like all the time, actually.
00:52:06Really?
00:52:06Yeah.
00:52:12Oh, you know what?
00:52:13I am actually running so late.
00:52:15It's okay.
00:52:16Don't worry about it.
00:52:17Can we finish this later?
00:52:18Yeah.
00:52:18You know where to find me.
00:52:19Okay.
00:52:19Okay.
00:52:21Hey.
00:52:22Hello.
00:52:31Hey.
00:52:32How's everything going at home?
00:52:35Well, aside from my folks being called home from a romantic weekend getaway because there's
00:52:40a dead body in the driveway.
00:52:41And oh, did I mention that not one, but two of my dad's cherished antique knives were stolen
00:52:46from his office.
00:52:46The office that I told you two not to let anybody into.
00:52:49Well, aside from that, I guess you could say that everything's just hunky dory.
00:52:55How long do you think it'll take to get the results from the lipstick?
00:52:59Seriously, dude?
00:53:00Hey.
00:53:02That sucks.
00:53:03Yeah.
00:53:04I'm grounded for a freaking month.
00:53:05Sorry, man.
00:53:07Um, did the police ever follow up with you or anything?
00:53:10I mean, what can they say?
00:53:12I didn't break any laws.
00:53:14You were with me when she fell, and even the cops said that I can't control what anyone
00:53:18brings in or does to the house, so at least that's under control.
00:53:23Hey, well, at least there's something positive.
00:53:26Yeah.
00:53:27All right.
00:53:28Let's get to this.
00:53:29Anybody else get like a Nancy Drew's mystery vibe here and now?
00:53:34Okay.
00:53:35Well, start off with five milliliters of distilled water.
00:53:45All right.
00:53:45All right.
00:53:47And add three drops of buffer concentrate.
00:53:52One, two, three.
00:53:57Add that to a test tube.
00:54:04All right.
00:54:07Then we swab the lipstick.
00:54:20Shake well.
00:54:23All right.
00:54:25Add a test drip.
00:54:29And in just a second, we will find out if you were pregnant.
00:54:33You're hilarious.
00:54:35Chill, Sam.
00:54:36I got this.
00:54:39Voila.
00:54:40Positive for peanut residue.
00:54:43Who the hell did this?
00:54:45Do you think Angela did this?
00:54:46Oh, no way.
00:54:47I mean, she's pretty horrible.
00:54:49Yeah, but she's not a murderer.
00:54:50Look, I'm not saying she intentionally killed him.
00:54:53Maybe somebody else messed with her lipstick knowing Jordan was going to kiss her.
00:54:56Well, and there's no way she needed the money.
00:54:58I'm like 99% certain.
00:55:01But she was the one with peanut oil on her lips.
00:55:05Let's go talk to her.
00:55:09Yeah, I'll just clean all this up.
00:55:11Thanks, guys.
00:55:18Don't tell anyone I came in here, okay?
00:55:23Doctor-patient confidentiality.
00:55:26I promise.
00:55:29So how are you?
00:55:32On a scale of one to ten.
00:55:35One.
00:55:36One being horrible.
00:55:39That's not surprising.
00:55:41You've been through a real trauma.
00:55:45Yeah.
00:55:46Grounded forever.
00:55:48My parents won't even talk to me.
00:55:51I'm sorry to hear that.
00:55:53You should be feeling their support right now.
00:55:57Yeah, well.
00:55:59I kind of went out the window when Brittany died falling out their window.
00:56:05Plus, my dad seems more upset about his knives being stolen than the fact that there's an active serial killer
00:56:11loose in his son's high school.
00:56:13Well, we don't know that for certain.
00:56:15Let's just try to stick with the facts in a rational way, okay?
00:56:19But right now, I'm more concerned about you.
00:56:25And your feelings of loss.
00:56:27Loss of my freedom.
00:56:29For sure, that's a major problem.
00:56:32Loss of your classmates.
00:56:36Typically, someone in your position is feeling angry at the person for leaving and simultaneously feeling guilty for surviving.
00:56:49I mean, if I hadn't had that stupid party, maybe Brittany would still be alive.
00:56:55Rudy.
00:56:57It's very important that you don't blame yourself for any of this.
00:57:03Nothing that you did caused any of this to happen.
00:57:11Listen, I...I gotta get to class.
00:57:18Rudy.
00:57:22Please come back in again soon, okay?
00:57:25You really do need a safe place to work through all this.
00:57:31I will.
00:57:32For sure.
00:57:33Thanks.
00:57:44What was that about?
00:57:46What was what all about?
00:57:48I just saw Rudy leaving here looking pretty upset.
00:57:50Well, he came in for counseling.
00:57:53Did he say anything that I should know about?
00:57:56What we talk about is confidential.
00:57:59Of course.
00:58:00I just thought kids were supposed to leave therapy feeling better.
00:58:04Well, that depends.
00:58:06On the therapist?
00:58:08On what was discussed.
00:58:10Well, if it's relevant to what's going on around here.
00:58:12It wasn't.
00:58:15Rudy's in the middle of things.
00:58:18Right smack in the middle.
00:58:19And he's having a difficult time.
00:58:23Sometimes a wound gets opened.
00:58:26It's a process.
00:58:27I don't have time for your process, Emily.
00:58:30I need to get to the bottom of this before another tragedy happens.
00:58:33And I expect you to cooperate.
00:58:37I'm doing exactly what I was brought here to do.
00:58:40If you'd rather have someone else...
00:58:42That's not what I'm saying.
00:58:44Okay.
00:58:48Well then...
00:58:49Is there anything else?
00:58:52I have to meet some kids for a group session now.
00:58:56No.
00:59:01Look, Emily.
00:59:03I didn't mean to...
00:59:05I'm sure you didn't.
00:59:07This can be rough on everyone.
00:59:10Bit of advice?
00:59:12Yeah.
00:59:13You may want to look into getting some therapy for yourself.
00:59:17It can really help.
00:59:32I don't understand what you're asking me that for.
00:59:34I thought this was for your hashtag Squad Gold blog?
00:59:37It is.
00:59:38We're putting together a special In His Memory tribute for Jordan in the next post.
00:59:42Okay.
00:59:43It just sounded more like you were suggesting I had something to do with his death.
00:59:47I'm not.
00:59:48I'm just asking if you knew about the peanut residue in your lipstick.
00:59:52I never used it before, how would I know?
00:59:53It was our only dress rehearsal.
00:59:55Which, by the way, is ridiculous.
00:59:56What kind of drama program only has one dress?
00:59:58God, I can't wait to get out of this pit.
01:00:01And by the way, what the hell business is it of yours?
01:00:04Whoa, take it easy, Angela.
01:00:05I can't believe I'm even engaging with you geeks right now, but let me ask you something.
01:00:11Why on earth would I have wanted anything bad to happen to Jordan?
01:00:14He's one of the few people that got this.
01:00:19Got me.
01:00:25Did you put in for the scholarship?
01:00:27What, the world patrons thing?
01:00:29Of course not. My family's so not poor enough.
01:00:31I'm truly sorry you're not poor. My condolences.
01:00:34Screw you, Nate. It's time for my scene.
01:00:38Just so you know, I didn't have nearly enough time to prepare.
01:00:43I hate her.
01:00:46But she didn't do it.
01:01:20And I'm like, you know.
01:01:22It was a really special song.
01:01:27But, you know, it's like my family and my family.
01:01:29You're the only one from the two of my friends.
01:01:31I've been loving you, my friend.
01:01:32You're the only one from the three of my friends.
01:01:33I'll be loving you, man.
01:01:33But, you know, I can't believe in the game.
01:01:47Did you hear?
01:01:48What?
01:01:49Lance is transferring.
01:01:50Really?
01:01:51Yeah, I just saw him and his dad in the office.
01:01:54Wow.
01:01:55I know.
01:01:56What were you doing in the office, by the way?
01:01:59That is a very good question, my friend.
01:02:01Do you know who you're talking to?
01:02:03Who?
01:02:04Captain Awesome.
01:02:06Okay.
01:02:07I just found out that I'm the California AAP Scholar of Math and Science.
01:02:11They just told me.
01:02:12Captain Awesome, indeed.
01:02:14Well, not to be crass or anything, but the scholarship list is now down to...
01:02:20Me, you, and Nate.
01:02:22Yeah.
01:02:24But, I tell you what, that whole California Scholar thing, that could put you over the top, man.
01:02:33It's my dad.
01:02:34I'm still in lockdown.
01:02:35Good luck with that.
01:02:38Hey, dad.
01:02:39Guess what?
01:02:39No.
01:02:41No.
01:02:43No.
01:02:45No.
01:02:47No.
01:02:47I'm in the kitchen.
01:02:51I'm in the kitchen.
01:02:52Hi.
01:02:53So, when were you going to tell me?
01:02:58About?
01:03:00About Nate.
01:03:03I'm at your school.
01:03:05I hear things.
01:03:06He is cute, right?
01:03:09And he's smart.
01:03:11Like, scary smart, actually.
01:03:13Well, that's good.
01:03:14Yeah, and he's really funny, but also kind of dark and weird.
01:03:21Quirky.
01:03:22I like that.
01:03:24Me, too.
01:03:28Go slow.
01:03:29Okay, Mom.
01:03:33And, uh, Nate's actually on the scholarship list, too, but he says he's not going to get it because he's
01:03:38pissed too many people off.
01:03:41You know, speaking of the scholarship...
01:03:44What?
01:03:45Don't you think it's a little more than coincidental that most of the people on it are either now off
01:03:51the list or, you know, dead?
01:03:56Well, you're still only talking about two or three people.
01:04:01Statistically, that's a small sample set.
01:04:05So, we tested the lipstick Angela Dodds used in the play.
01:04:10You tested the lipstick?
01:04:13For what?
01:04:15And who is we?
01:04:16Me, Nate, and Rudy.
01:04:18Anyway, it came out positive for peanut residue.
01:04:23Angela said she didn't know anything about it, and I think she's telling the truth.
01:04:27This is not a game, Samantha.
01:04:30This is as serious as it gets.
01:04:33That's why we're doing all of this.
01:04:35But you are not a detective.
01:04:37If anything, you're interfering with a police investigation.
01:04:40What investigation?
01:04:42Nobody's asking any questions.
01:04:44Nobody's doing anything.
01:04:48Stop.
01:04:49This is not your job.
01:04:52Your job is to get good grades and get out of high school with a perfect resume.
01:05:00Period.
01:05:03You don't have to be a full-blown adult yet.
01:05:07Trust me, it's overrated.
01:05:09Anyway, how did you even test the lipstick?
01:05:13They have allergy testing kits in the science lab.
01:05:19Well, still, it doesn't prove anything.
01:05:22We don't know how it got there.
01:05:26It is strange, though.
01:05:29I'll reach out to the detective they assigned to the case from the school, okay?
01:05:34Thanks, Mom.
01:05:39Speaking of you getting out of high school...
01:05:45I have something for you.
01:05:49And I think you're gonna like it.
01:05:51It's thick.
01:05:53Yes, it is.
01:05:54Did you open it?
01:05:55Damn right I did.
01:05:57Did I get in?
01:05:59Yes, you did.
01:06:03I'm so proud of you, honey.
01:06:06Thanks, Mom.
01:06:08Not that I know how we're gonna afford it.
01:06:12Honey, scholarships and loans and part-time jobs.
01:06:18Where there's a will, there's a way.
01:06:25Congratulations.
01:06:26Congratulations.
01:06:42Tell me.
01:06:43What?
01:06:44You got it.
01:06:45You got it.
01:06:46Girlfriend!
01:06:47Shh!
01:06:50Girlfriend.
01:06:51It's so awesome.
01:06:53I'm not sure if we can swing it, though.
01:06:55It's gonna put me a major debt.
01:06:56We'll figure it out.
01:06:57I'm so happy for you.
01:07:00So, we're good?
01:07:02I'm fine.
01:07:03I was just being a jerk.
01:07:04No, I totally get it.
01:07:05I don't know.
01:07:06I don't know if you can go there.
01:07:06I thought about it and there is no way I'm letting a guy come between me and my best friend.
01:07:11We gotta go on Roommate Finder.
01:07:12Dude, you gotta fill out that questionnaire right away or you'll end up with some psycho.
01:07:16Right?
01:07:21What?
01:07:22Oh, nothing.
01:07:23This is crazy.
01:07:24Just tell me.
01:07:26I can't stop thinking about that photograph.
01:07:28Of Lance and Jordan?
01:07:30Yeah.
01:07:32I don't know.
01:07:32That whole thing is just too weird.
01:07:34What are you talking about?
01:07:36Nate took that shot of Jordan.
01:07:38I saw it when I was on his computer.
01:07:40And then the shot magically appears on Jordan's locker.
01:07:43What?
01:07:44So you're saying you think Nate had something to do with that?
01:07:47Sam, next to you, he's my best friend.
01:07:50I've known him the longest, but lately he's been acting weird.
01:07:55And not like quirky weird, but weird weird.
01:07:58Come on, Jillian.
01:07:59Bitter and sarcastic.
01:08:00Jillian.
01:08:01What did Mr. Size say in sight class?
01:08:03That sarcasm is really hostility to disguise as humor?
01:08:07Sure, but-
01:08:08Okay, and think about who's, well, gone.
01:08:11Okay, Jordan.
01:08:13Nate hated Jordan because he thought he was full of crap.
01:08:15Brittany.
01:08:16He hated all of her cutesy, woopsy, cheerleader crap.
01:08:19But he didn't hate Lance.
01:08:20No.
01:08:22I keep forgetting you've only been here a few months.
01:08:25Did you know that Lance and Nate used to be super close not too long ago?
01:08:28No.
01:08:28They were.
01:08:30Then high school started and they started hanging out with different crowds.
01:08:34Lance chose to be with the beautiful people and the jocks.
01:08:36And Nate, he chose us.
01:08:40So, yeah, there's some issues between me and Lance.
01:08:43He thought he was a fair-weathered friend.
01:08:45Not to mention a liar.
01:08:47This is too much, Jillian.
01:08:49No way.
01:08:50I didn't want to believe it either, Sam.
01:08:52I know you guys have this thing going on now and-
01:08:54What, are you going to say he hated Rudy, too?
01:08:57Nate would never have let him get in trouble for that party.
01:09:00They're like brothers.
01:09:03Whoever said it was about hate.
01:09:05Maybe it's just about doing what you gotta do.
01:09:15Oh, can you wait outside for just a minute and I'll come get you when we're done.
01:09:25So we have an issue.
01:09:27Two, actually.
01:09:28What?
01:09:29Well, number one, the autopsy just came back on Brittany Gomez.
01:09:34She didn't die from the fall.
01:09:37Took them a while to find it, but she actually died from a stab wound.
01:09:41Oh my god.
01:09:42Then, I just got an anonymous email that one of our students is dealing narcotics out of his locker.
01:09:47I showed IT and they said it came from an untraceable address.
01:09:51Wait for yourself.
01:09:58No way.
01:10:00What the hell is going on?
01:10:01I'm losing control of my skull.
01:10:22Oh my god.
01:10:23What is it?
01:10:25Excuse me, what are you doing in my locker?
01:10:45Did you hear?
01:10:46Who died now?
01:10:47Lance.
01:10:48Kind of.
01:10:49I heard about that.
01:10:51It's horrible.
01:10:52No kidding.
01:10:53I heard her say sending him to military school.
01:10:56Poor Lance.
01:10:58Hey, question.
01:10:59How do you know Nate took this picture?
01:11:02What do you mean?
01:11:03Are you sure it was downloaded from his camera?
01:11:06Photo editor for Squawgle, Sam.
01:11:07Download all of his stuff.
01:11:08Oh.
01:11:09Great.
01:11:10Sorry.
01:11:13Did you guys hear?
01:11:15About Lance?
01:11:16Yeah, it's horrible.
01:11:17No, not Lance.
01:11:18I'm talking about Rudy.
01:11:20What about Rudy?
01:11:22Apparently, they discovered in the autopsy that Brittany was stabbed before she fell.
01:11:25Are you kidding?
01:11:27No.
01:11:27They found a knife in Rudy's locker.
01:11:29Supposedly it matched the one that Brittany was stabbed with.
01:11:32What?
01:11:33We better go.
01:11:50Watch your head.
01:11:55What do you think you're doing?
01:11:56Um, taking pictures for the school paper?
01:11:58No.
01:11:59No more pictures.
01:12:00Get yourself back to class.
01:12:01That goes for you guys, too.
01:12:02Yes, ma'am.
01:12:03I have the free.
01:12:04Well, then just get yourself back inside.
01:12:06The show's over.
01:12:07And if those pictures see the light of day anywhere, you're going to be in a cell next
01:12:10to your buddy.
01:12:12Get back in class.
01:12:14All of you guys, get back to class.
01:12:16All right, folks.
01:12:16Party's over.
01:12:18Hurry up!
01:12:33There's no way Rudy brought in that knife.
01:12:36Absolutely no way.
01:12:37He's so screwed now.
01:12:39Forget the scholarship.
01:12:40That's over.
01:12:41Even the schools that accepted him are going to rescind their offer.
01:12:44Well, that's the least of his problems.
01:12:45He's going to be charged with a freaking felony.
01:12:48Unbelievable.
01:12:49Someone had to have set him up.
01:12:51Oh, no doubt.
01:12:52Let's meet back up after school.
01:12:56Nate.
01:12:58I know you took the photo of Lance and Jordan.
01:13:02What about it?
01:13:05Did you put it up on Lance's locker?
01:13:07No, I would never do anything like that.
01:13:09Did you ever share it with anyone?
01:13:11No.
01:13:11You swear?
01:13:12Positive.
01:13:12I separated it out.
01:13:13I know how sensitive that is.
01:13:16Okay.
01:13:18I gotta go.
01:13:19Let's talk later.
01:13:21Okay.
01:13:34Listen, detective.
01:13:35I am asking you to please get back into this.
01:13:41Because there was peanut residue on the lipstick.
01:13:47Yes, I know that there was.
01:13:49Because my daughter is a smart girl.
01:13:51A whole lot smarter than...
01:13:58Now I know why these kids have decided to take matters into their own hands.
01:14:27I don't know.
01:14:48Sam!
01:14:49Hey.
01:14:50So you're gonna tell me?
01:14:51The suspense is killing me.
01:14:53It's Nate.
01:14:54After everything you told me, I realized it's got to be him.
01:14:59Why would he keep taking pictures of people dying?
01:15:02And then he lied to me about sharing that picture with you of Lance and Jordan.
01:15:07And he has motive.
01:15:09He needs that scholarship more than anyone else.
01:15:13And what's scariest?
01:15:15I'm the last one in line for the scholarship.
01:15:18He gets rid of me, he's got it.
01:15:21So I need to make sure he's busted before he can get to me.
01:15:28Sam, I love you.
01:15:29You're kinda stupid, you know?
01:15:32Frankly, I like the whole line of questioning about downloading.
01:15:36But that was a lie.
01:15:37He had separated the Lance Jordan pic.
01:15:48I've heard of your mom.
01:15:49Why don't you like her to count this?
01:15:51Thanks.
01:15:52Enjoying my computer?
01:15:53Try valid picture of the paper.
01:15:55We're on deadline, Nate.
01:16:00Jillian, what are you doing?
01:16:02You know, you probably don't know this, but I used to call him Nate.
01:16:08See, I didn't just arrive here six months ago with this girl next door look and sweep Nate off his
01:16:13feet.
01:16:16I've known him almost my entire life.
01:16:19We went to kindergarten together.
01:16:22Jillian, can we just settle down for a sec?
01:16:25It's a little late for that now, Sam, don't you think?
01:16:29Jillian?
01:16:29Jillian!
01:16:30Jillian, just shut up already!
01:16:33Your charm's getting old, Sam.
01:16:36You're supposed to be my best friend.
01:16:39I am.
01:16:41But best friends don't hook up with the guys their best friends are in love with.
01:16:49When the person who has known him their entire life doesn't even get asked to her own prom.
01:16:57Jillian, I am your best friend.
01:16:59Wrong!
01:17:01Nate is my best friend.
01:17:03And my soulmate.
01:17:07Sure.
01:17:08Let's just put down the knife so we can talk about it.
01:17:13It's too late for talking now, Sam.
01:17:15It's time for action.
01:17:18Here's the thing.
01:17:20Best friends do extra ordinary things for each other.
01:17:27It's a master suit, right?
01:17:29The flower suit.
01:17:30You flash it.
01:17:31You battery go.
01:17:32There's a camera.
01:17:35One time they eat two times unafondations, right?
01:17:37Two times we're going to buy something.
01:17:57So I'm with engineering.
01:17:58He says two times you proud.
01:17:59You know, he's amazing.
01:18:06Jordan!
01:18:09Somebody help me!
01:18:10They plant knives in the locker of close friends just to help the love of their life
01:18:14get the scholarship he deserved.
01:18:15What are you doing in my locker?
01:18:21I kept one of the knives for myself.
01:18:24I'm glad I did.
01:18:26Your reporting skills aren't going to help you today.
01:18:29Jillian, please.
01:18:33Please what?
01:18:38Best friends do whatever they have to do to help the person they love.
01:18:44Whether it's blackmail
01:18:47or simply taking care of business.
01:18:55Can I tell you something?
01:18:57My idea was just to get Brittany wasted and make an anonymous call to the police
01:19:01that she was driving drunk.
01:19:04But you know what?
01:19:07The one that entitled pretentious whore just sat there,
01:19:10whining on the windowsill after all she's been given?
01:19:20Well, she just had to go.
01:19:23So now it's down to you, Sam.
01:19:25Last girl standing.
01:19:28And that won't be for long.
01:19:31Thank you, Jillian.
01:19:33For what?
01:19:36Confessing.
01:19:39Nate?
01:19:40You get all that?
01:19:42I got the whole thing.
01:19:44Sorry, Jillian.
01:19:46We're cooked.
01:19:47Really?
01:19:48You're gonna try to continue to humiliate me after all that I've done for you?
01:19:51Put the knife down.
01:19:53You know what?
01:19:53You both have to go.
01:19:56You're dead!
01:19:57Nate!
01:20:01Sam, watch out!
01:20:14That hurt, Nate.
01:20:19Come on, Nate.
01:20:20Come on, Nate.
01:20:28No!
01:20:29No!
01:20:30Nate, I loved you!
01:20:39Hey.
01:20:42You okay?
01:20:43Yeah.
01:20:44You?
01:20:47Yeah.
01:20:48I think so.
01:21:00Okay.
01:21:18A few months ago, when I began writing Hashtag Squad Goals, I didn't know what it would
01:21:23become.
01:21:23To be honest, I was kind of hoping it would be an opportunity for me to, well, be discovered.
01:21:29But as it turned out, I'm the one who got to do the discovering, in that I solved a couple
01:21:34of murders and won a couple of student journalism awards.
01:21:37And to be honest, some of the things I discovered were pretty ugly.
01:21:42And some things were pretty amazing.
01:21:45I am thrilled to announce the winner of the World Patron Scholars Award, Samantha Hodges.
01:22:04But it was all a lesson in learning, one that I hope to continue in the next phase of my
01:22:08life.
01:22:10A phase that this scholarship, which I've chosen to split three ways, will certainly make a whole lot more manageable.
01:22:17Sure, a four-year ride would have been nice, but the love and friendship of my squad is a whole
01:22:23lot nicer.
