Every year, Hollywood celebrates the best of cinema at the Oscars — but the Razzies do the exact opposite. The Golden Raspberry Awards highlight the worst movies, performances, and creative decisions in film. In this video, we’re looking at the infamous Worst Picture Award and the films that earned (or suffered) this not-so-prestigious honor.

00:13in her only directed featured film, the film is a pseudobiography of the 1970s disco group
00:19The Village People loosely based on the actual story of how the group formed, the film was
00:23released after disco's peak, it received largely negative reviews from critics and was a box office
00:28bomb. Alongside Xanadu, Can't Stop the Music is known for inspiring the creation of the Golden
00:33Raspberry Awards, winning the first Razzies for Worst Picture and Worst Screenplay at the
00:38first Golden Raspberry Awards. 2. Mommy Dearest, it is a 1981 American biographical psychological
00:46drama film directed by Frank Perry and starring Faye Dunaway, adapted from Christina Crawford's
00:521978 autobiography of the same name, the film follows her and her brother Christopher's
00:57upbringing under their adoptive mother, actress Joan Crawford, depicting her as abusive, controlling
01:02and manipulative, prioritizing her Hollywood career over her family. The film grossed $25
01:08million internationally against a $10 million budget, Crawford's family condemned the film
01:13for portraying Joan as more abusive than Christina alleged in her original book, with some family
01:18members disputing whether abuse occurred at all, the film received mixed reviews from critics
01:23with praise for Dunaway's performance but criticisms for its poor editing and screenplay. Despite this,
01:28the film's perceived bizarre script and performances, particularly Dunaway's have brought a cult following
01:33to the film, it was also nominated for nine Razzies at the second Golden Raspberry Awards and won five
01:39including Worst Picture and Worst Actress for Faye Dunaway. 3. Incheon, it is a 1981 war film about the
01:46Battle of Incheon, considered to be the turning point of the Korean War, directed by Terrence Young,
01:51the film stars Lawrence Olivier as General Douglas MacArthur, who led the United States surprise
01:57amphibious landing at Incheon South Korea in 1950, its plot includes both military action and human
02:02drama. Characters face danger and are involved in various personal and dramatic situations.
02:08The film concludes with the American victory over North Korean forces in the Battle of Incheon,
02:13which is considered to have saved South Korea, produced on $46 million with filming taking place
02:18in South Korea, California, Italy, Ireland and Japan. After premiering in May 1981, the film was
02:25released theatrically in the United States and Canada in September 1982, before being quickly
02:30withdrawn due to critical and financial failure. Though the film never received a home video release,
02:36it has occasionally been broadcast on television, it was the largest financial loss in film of 1982,
02:41earning less than $2 million against its lofty budget and resulting in losses of around $41 million.
02:48Reviewers at the time gave it consistently negative reviews and later commentators including Newsweek,
02:53TV Guide and Canadian Press have classed Incheon among the worst films of all time,
02:58it was also nominated for five Razzies at the third Golden Raspberry Awards and won four
03:03including Worst Picture and Worst Director for Terrence Young.
03:06Four, The Lonely Lady, it is a 1983 American drama film directed by Peter Sazdy, adapted from Harold
03:13Robbins' 1976 novel of the same name, believed to have been based on Robbins' memories of Jacqueline
03:19Suzanne. The plot follows an aspiring screenwriter who deals with many abusive men in her attempts to
03:24achieve success in Hollywood. The Lonely Lady was the last adaptation of one of Robbins' novels before
03:30his death in 1997, critically panned, the film was a box office bomb grossing only $1.2 million
03:36against a budget of between $6 to $7 million, the film was nominated for 11 Golden Raspberry Awards and
03:43won six, Worst Actress, Worst Director, Worst Musical Score, Worst Original Song. For the way you do it,

03:55but lost to Mommy Dearest and as Worst Drama of the Razzie's first 25 years but lost to Battlefield

05:10was nominated for Best Sound Effects Editing at the 58th Academy Awards. 7, Howard the Duck, it is a
05:171986 American superhero comedy film directed by Willard Huyck. The screenplay was originally intended
05:23to be an animated film but the film adaptation became live action because of a contractual obligation.
05:28While several TV adaptations of Marvel characters were aired this was the first theatrical release
05:33since the Captain America serial of 1944. The film was a critical and commercial failure and was
05:39criticized for its humor, performances, inconsistent tone and appearance of the title character,
05:44though the effects and soundtrack were mostly praised. In the years since, it has been considered among
05:49the worst films ever made but has also developed a cult following, it was nominated for seven Razzie
05:54awards, winning four including Worst Picture, and made about $16.3 million domestically compared to
06:01its $30 to $37 million budget. 8, Under the Cherry Moon, it is a 1986 American romantic musical comedy
06:10drama film directed by Prince in his directorial debut, the follow-up to his 1984 film debut Purple
06:16Rain, although the film underperformed both critically and commercially at the time of its release,
06:21winning five awards at 7th Golden Raspberry Awards and tying with Howard the Duck for Worst Picture.

07:36music score composed by J. Peter Robinson, despite earning overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics
07:42the film was a huge box office success grossing more than $170 million worldwide against a budget
07:48of $20 million becoming the 8th highest grossing film of 1988, it won Worst Picture Award at 9th Golden
07:54Raspberry Award. 10, Star Trek V, The Final Frontier, it is a 1989 American science fiction film directed by
08:03William Shatner and based on the television series Star Trek created by Gene Roddenberry, it had the
08:08highest opening gross of any Star Trek film at that point and was number one in its first week at

08:13box office, however, its grosses quickly dropped in subsequent weeks. The film received generally mixed to
08:19negative reviews by critics on release and according to its producer, nearly killed the franchise, at the
08:2410th Golden Raspberry Awards, it was nominated for six Razzie Awards, Worst Picture, Worst Director,
08:30Worst Actor for Shatner, Worst Supporting Actor for Kelly, Worst Screenplay and Worst Picture of the
08:35Decade, winning three for Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Actor.
