00:00What do you go, and what do you think of the Western Conference right now
00:03with Vegas and the Colorado Avalanche?
00:06What do you like there?
00:07Well, right now, I've got to say, wow, right?
00:09I mean, both conferences, everybody thinks it's a collision course
00:15for Carolina-Colorado Stanley Cup finals,
00:18and probably I felt the same way,
00:21but that's what's great about the Stanley Cup playoffs
00:23and the National Hockey League.
00:24There's teams that have different ideas,
00:27and the Vegas Golden Knights who had an up-and-down year inconsistent.
00:31If you really look at their lineups,
00:33I mean, Colorado was pretty heavily favored going into the series.
00:36If you look at their lineup, they've been there, done that.
00:39They've got 12 guys that have won Stanley Cups.
00:41Colorado has 11.
00:42So, again, Colorado with their speed and skill are an intimidating group
00:49even before going into a series, but Vegas, they're not intimidated.
00:54They've been there.
00:55They understand what it takes.
00:56And if you look at their lineup, they are awfully deep,
00:58and they kind of put it together at the right time.
01:01When John Tortorella came in late in the season,
01:05they got on a roll, and then they knew what it took come playoff time
01:09that they're able to elevate their game because of that experience.
01:13And so there wasn't any kind of mismatch
01:16of maybe some people thought Colorado
01:18because of the great year they had, President's Trophy,
01:20and all the skill they had.
01:22But, boy, do they miss Cale McCarr.
01:23It's not an excuse.
01:25It's a reality.
01:26He's the best defenseman in the world,
01:27and they just look different the first couple of games here
01:31where he controls the tempo of play when he's on the ice,
01:34and that's for half the game.
01:36And it just doesn't look quite as cohesive and as electric.
01:41Right.
