Stalked - Season 1 Episode 1
Transcript
00:18Just before we get into this, can I get your name?
00:21Jasmine Dawson.
00:23I have a really odd situation.
00:26I have quite a big online following, and there was this man who lived in the Netherlands
00:33and found my forest, I'll message me non-stop about how obsessed he is with me.
00:37He's come to New Zealand.
00:39Just pretend someone's chasing you.
00:40He's literally flown here to find me.
00:43It's terrifying.
00:44Yeah, yeah.
00:45No, that's completely understandable.
00:46And I am so sweaty.
00:48This is the police.
00:49What is the emergency?
00:51Hi there.
00:52Yeah, I was just on the phone to 105 about a man who's been stalking me and has flown
00:57over from the Netherlands to try and find me.
01:02He's sitting down at the beach by my house at the moment, looking up at our balcony.
01:06And this person has been stalking you?
01:09Yep.
01:10Yep.
01:10Good job.
01:12Good job.
01:13I don't know how he got my address.
01:15Like, it's, you can't find it anywhere.
01:17Yeah.
01:17I mean, it's just, yeah.
01:19Yeah.
01:19Okay.
01:20Is he there now?
01:21Can you still see him on the beach?
01:23Yeah.
01:43I was 16 when I met him, and he was 24.
01:47I would never have looked at him and thought that he was a romantic interest.
01:52I was young and a little bit boy crazy.
01:55I know that he's watching me through the day.
01:59It's crazy.
02:00It went from this weird harassment to, I'm going to kill your cat.
02:07And he just says, I bet you're happy to see me, bitch.
02:36I remember there was so much talk around this new show that had come out.
02:40We binged it, and I remember sitting on the couch with my flatmates and just being like,
02:44this is crazy.
02:47Like, this is nuts.
02:48And you're, like, almost screaming at the TV to be like, like, dude, go, go tell the,
02:54like, go tell the police.
02:55What are you doing?
03:00One week later, it was me.
03:04Beer.
03:16I don't feel like a celebrity at all.
03:17I don't know if we have those in New Zealand.
03:20You're just kind of, like, people know me, but no, not celebrity.
03:27I don't like that.
03:30I downloaded TikTok, as I think a lot of people did in COVID lockdown.
03:36I kind of got to share all parts of my life.
03:40Six years ago, I was sitting in the intensive care unit of a psych ward after trying to take
03:44my own life.
03:45From more kind of serious mental health things to just making an absolute fool of myself.
03:56It blew up.
03:58I get recognised in most countries that I go to.
04:03I had a massive viral incident with the UK where I bit into a Terry's chocolate orange.
04:08I think you just have to, like,
04:12didn't know you weren't supposed to do that.
04:13I'm getting tagged in every freaking news outlet possible.
04:16This is where I draw the line.
04:19Aussie TikToker.
04:20Aussie.
04:21You ready?
04:22We just...
04:22Jokes.
04:24You're supposed to smash a Terry's chocolate orange,
04:27and then it falls out into segments.
04:29I did not know this information.
04:33It feels like there's a lot more eyes on me now than there used to be.
04:37I would say 99% of the time, people are really lovely.
04:44I remember my flatmate, Irina, being like,
04:50there's this guy that's messaged me saying that he's coming to New Zealand to find you.
04:55And I was like, what are you talking about?
04:59He messaged my business account.
05:00So I started getting messages on my business account.
05:04Being like, hi, can you put me in contact with Jess?
05:07I was like, no.
05:09I was like, no.
05:10Because then you went back through everything, eh?
05:12Because you get so many messages all the time.
05:14I never saw them.
05:15It never seemed like anything weird.
05:17And so I looked up his username on my profile,
05:20and when I opened it,
05:21I just saw all of these messages that I hadn't seen before.
05:30I've definitely had some weird messages in the past.
05:34You get people asking for feet pics and, like, really weird stuff.
05:39This was so different.
05:42It was only a space of, like, a couple of weeks
05:45between when he sent his first message
05:47to the ones that were saying how obsessed he is with me
05:50and that he can't stop thinking about me.
05:52And just that really quick progression was like,
05:56what is going on?
05:59My flatmates and me tried to, like, research everything we could
06:03to find anything out about this guy.
06:06And he just kind of was almost, like, erased from the internet.
06:12He had a locked Instagram profile.
06:15He had to really zoom up, and he had, like, sunglasses on,
06:18so we didn't even really know what he looked like.
06:20We can't find anything about him except that
06:22he literally lives on the other side of the world
06:26in the Netherlands.
06:27I think he told you that he was going to come to New Zealand
06:33and he wanted to find me.
06:34Mm.
06:35But I feel like I was still so blase about it.
06:37Because it was overseas.
06:39There's no way that he was, like, coming to New Zealand.
06:42No.
06:43And then I think within, like, 48 hours,
06:45he had messaged again saying,
06:46I booked the flights.
06:55Oh, he's here.
06:57Like, he's, like, he's in the country.
07:01New Zealand's a beautiful country.
07:02I was like, maybe he's always wanted to come here.
07:04Maybe he wants to come and do the walks
07:06and he wants to come and see Queenstown.
07:10Who am I to say that this person's flown
07:13from the other side of the world to find me?
07:18Now that I know that he's in the country,
07:20I decided to check his messages.
07:25Jazz, can you forgive me?
07:27I've done something quite bad
07:28and I don't know what to do.
07:30And it kind of has something to do with you.
07:32Dot, dot, dot.
07:33I'm sorry.
07:36I start freaking out.
07:39Like, what the hell does this mean?
07:42And then very quickly after that,
07:44I get another message that says,
07:47I'm mentally not in the place at the moment
07:49and I don't want to do something to scare you.
07:53And I can't promise myself
07:55not to do something with the information
07:57that I've gathered,
07:57even if it's affecting your well-being, I think.
08:06And that was when I knew
08:09this is not good.
08:14I was so terrified
08:15and then because everyone else
08:18was trying to stay calm,
08:19I felt like I was screaming into a void
08:21of, like, this is really bad.
08:26I don't know what to do.
08:31I was like,
08:32look, there's nothing to be gained
08:33from freaking out.
08:35He's either found us or he hasn't
08:37and I kind of...
08:38I remember you saying...
08:40Mansplained to you
08:40something to that extent.
08:41But you said
08:42the worst thing that could happen
08:43is he finds our house
08:44and that's not going to happen.
08:52I did not sleep at all that night.
08:54I went downstairs and got the knife
08:56from the kitchen
08:57and brought it up
08:58and slept with it.
08:59That knife, that Japanese knife.
09:05We decided that the next day
09:08I could maybe do, like,
09:10a written police report
09:11because it felt too dramatic
09:12to go to the police now.
09:15Like, he hasn't
09:18directly done anything.
09:47My name is Xenie Gibson
09:48and I'm 25.
09:50I met Greg when I was 16
09:52and shortly after meeting me,
09:53Greg confessed his love for me,
09:55unsolicited,
09:56and I rejected him.
09:58Greg began to harass me online
10:00and this harassment
10:00has continued for eight years.
10:02I do not know Greg
10:04and I have never provoked him
10:05to behave as he has.
10:14reading Xenie's story
10:16for the first time,
10:18it shattered me.
10:22Reading everything
10:24that Greg put Xenie through,
10:28he was saying these things,
10:30some of the most horrific things
10:32that I've ever read in my life.
10:50She was so happily curled up.
10:52Oh, hello!
10:54Hi!
10:56Oh, my goodness.
10:58Isn't she cute?
10:59You're so cute!
11:00Hello!
11:02Greg was my boss's boyfriend
11:04when I worked
11:05at the Aarra Valley School
11:06holiday program.
11:13We'd always come out here
11:14and play the,
11:15like all the children,
11:16you know, in summer
11:17or whatever.
11:18So it'd be around here.
11:22He used to wash windows
11:24down at the end of our street,
11:25you know,
11:26when the cars are parked
11:27and they come out
11:27with a squeegee bottle.
11:30I kind of knew of him.
11:31He used to hang around
11:32in the park
11:34and I guess I'd like,
11:35you know,
11:35walk past and see Greg
11:36and, hi, Greg.
11:38He was my boss's boyfriend
11:39so, you know,
11:41I'd smile at anyone.
11:41So this is where
11:42you first met Greg?
11:43Yeah, yeah.
11:44It would have been
11:44either in there or here.
11:46I don't remember.
11:46It was so insignificant.
11:51I was 16 when I met him
11:53and he was 24.
11:5624 felt like 40.
11:58He was so far removed from me
12:00I would never have looked at him
12:01and thought that he was
12:02a romantic interest.
12:10One day after work
12:11it was raining
12:12and my mum offered
12:14to take my boss home
12:16and Greg was there.
12:17I sat in the back seat
12:19with Greg
12:20and my boss's
12:21five-year-old daughter.
12:24I was looking out the window
12:26and I was thinking
12:26about my high school crush
12:28and I was daydreaming
12:29about him.
12:31He did become my boyfriend.
12:33I started drawing hearts
12:35in the window's condensation
12:37just like mindlessly thinking,
12:39oh, I wonder
12:39if he's going to text me.
12:42And then Greg and my boss
12:45and the little girl
12:46jumped out of the car
12:47and me and mum went home.
12:50When I think back
12:50to that time,
12:51there was nothing scary about it.
12:53The car ride
12:54was perfectly normal.
12:55If anything,
12:56a happy memory
12:57should be associated with it
12:58because I was falling in love.
13:01But it's incredibly haunting.
13:11If there's one thing
13:13that I,
13:14that time and time again
13:16I have played back
13:17in my head,
13:19why,
13:21just why did I do that?
13:23That one thing,
13:25oh, it's raining,
13:26have a lift,
13:27you know?
13:28And isn't,
13:29yeah, fucking hell.
13:30Yeah,
13:31why couldn't have I said,
13:32would you like a raincoat?
13:35Here's a broly.
13:36It's Wellington.
13:38Good luck.
13:39I can't believe
13:41that that car ride
13:42led
13:42to where we are today.
13:51It feels like
13:52there's been a mistake somewhere.
14:02Mum carries so much guilt
14:03for taking Greg home
14:05in the car that day.
14:06She thinks it's her fault
14:08and she wishes she could go back
14:09and not offer that ride.
14:13A couple days later
14:15when I was at home
14:16I found a note
14:17in my letterbox
14:18and I unfolded in it
14:19and it said,
14:20I love you too
14:20with all of these hearts
14:21all over it
14:22and I thought,
14:23oh God,
14:23this is one of my
14:24guy friends from school
14:25pulling my leg.
14:27God,
14:28I wish that was what happened.
14:31Soon after the letter arrived,
14:33I got a text
14:34from an unknown number.
14:37I replied,
14:37who is this?
14:38Ha ha ha.
14:40They responded,
14:41it's Greg,
14:42why are you laughing?
14:43I thought,
14:44oh,
14:44how bizarre.
14:47There was not even
14:48a slither of possibility
14:51in my mind
14:51that he could have
14:52sent me this letter.
14:53It said,
14:53I love you too.
14:54I thought,
14:56I don't love you.
14:57What do you have told you
14:58I love you?
14:59But he texted me
15:00and he said,
15:01come to the park.
15:03And I remember thinking
15:05honestly very little about that.
15:07I thought,
15:07okay,
15:08like,
15:09what?
15:11I was so confused.
15:15So,
15:16with my little
15:1716 year old pep
15:18and my step,
15:18I ran over to the park
15:21thinking,
15:21ha ha,
15:21this is going to be so funny.
15:23It wasn't.
15:24Spoiler alert.
15:28Greg was sitting
15:29just up here
15:29and I was kind of like,
15:32I don't know,
15:32if anything,
15:33I was like,
15:33you know,
15:34I just clocked out of work
15:35like I was a little bit
15:36springing my step or whatever
15:37and just kind of like,
15:38came up here like this to him.
15:41He was sitting with his dog,
15:42Toby.
15:43I kind of just like,
15:44sat down next to him
15:45and said,
15:46what's this about?
15:47Like,
15:47what are you doing?
15:48And he was deadpan.
15:49And I just remember him
15:50sitting here and saying,
15:51I saw you drawing the hearts
15:53in the window.
15:55I love you too.
15:59Yeah.
16:00That he wanted to be with me
16:01and that he loved me
16:01and I just remember being so,
16:04um,
16:06like,
16:06wow.
16:09I felt so uncomfortable.
16:13I was patting Toby
16:14and patting Toby
16:15and patting Toby.
16:16I couldn't let him go.
16:17He was the only physical barrier
16:19between me and Greg.
16:20I was very polite
16:22and I said,
16:23oh no,
16:24like,
16:24that's not what I,
16:25that's not what I meant.
16:27I,
16:27no,
16:28like,
16:29you're dating my boss.
16:30Like,
16:31sorry,
16:31you've misunderstood me.
16:33Like,
16:34apologising.
16:34You were just a kid.
16:36I was just a kid.
16:39Oh,
16:39I want to go back
16:40and give her a hug.
16:41I didn't think
16:42it was going to be so weird.
16:45Oh.
16:46I wish this is what happened.
16:48Yeah.
16:49Yeah.
16:51And I remember
16:52getting up to leave
16:53and my hands were just coated
16:54in that dirty dog grease.
16:57I felt so disgusting.
16:59I wanted to scrub,
17:00like,
17:01everything off me
17:02and I wanted to just
17:04get as far away
17:05from that moment
17:06as I could.
17:12A couple of weeks ago
17:14there was a man
17:14from literally
17:15the other side of the world
17:15that was messaging me
17:16about his obsessions with me,
17:18sending some very scary messages
17:19and he then flew
17:20all the way to New Zealand
17:22to physically find me.
17:23It was terrifying
17:24and the reason that I'm posting this...
17:26Thank you for sharing
17:26your personal story
17:27with us, Jazz.
17:29I too was stalked
17:30for months in 2010
17:32by an ex-boyfriend.
17:33He travelled across the country
17:35and eventually kidnapped me.
17:37My case was highly publicised
17:39and I always stated
17:40stalking was the beginning
17:42and the result
17:43that could have been mitigated
17:45had we criminalised this behaviour.
17:50There was nowhere to go,
17:52no one to hear.
17:54He pushed me out
17:55and he's screaming at me,
17:57you know,
17:57he's like,
17:58you slut, you slut,
17:58I'm going to teach you a lesson.
18:00I kept getting knocked out
18:02and then coming back
18:03into consciousness.
18:05Tessa's story was,
18:06it was completely avoidable.
18:11It's like what horror movies are.
18:19Aotea FM 94.6
18:21will put a smile
18:22on your dial.
18:26Well, it's a very special day today
18:28because we have
18:29the wonderful Nortesa
18:31in the FM house.
18:32Welcome, Nortesa.
18:34Thank you for having me.
18:35Now, we have
18:36a bit of a sensitive topic today.
18:39Today's conversation includes
18:40kidnapping, violence and trauma,
18:43but there will be no nudity.
18:45No, unfortunately.
18:54I grew up on Great Barrier Island
18:56and I was a little maniac.
19:00I spent a lot of time outside
19:02and I really loved being in nature
19:06and I loved creating
19:07and singing
19:10and it was a beautiful
19:13upbringing there.
19:27It's a small community,
19:29so everyone is just
19:31there for each other.
19:33It doesn't matter how long
19:34you've been gone,
19:35you're considered
19:37a barrier, right?
19:40It's always got
19:42such a special place
19:43in my heart.
19:44You're welcome.
19:46Love you so much.
19:47Just come over here.
19:47Good morning.
19:48Very just worries, friends.
19:50Hello, Skilly.
19:51Cheers, mate.
19:53Good to see you.
19:53Welcome home.
19:56Lovely to have you back.
19:58I've already cried.
20:00I bet you have.
20:01I bet you have.
20:05Lots of memories good, eh?
20:06Not so good.
20:07Yeah.
20:10It's been over a decade
20:12since I was stalked
20:14and eventually kidnapped.
20:27So in 2010,
20:29my mum was renting a property
20:31and her shower smashed
20:34and a glazier arrived
20:37to come and fix it.
20:40and she got talking to him
20:42and thought you'd be
20:44great for my daughter.
20:49I came over to the house
20:51and met him.
20:54I was 18
20:56and he was maybe
20:58only a year older than me.
21:00I was young
21:01and a little bit boy-crazy.
21:06He was handsome
21:07and had a charming smile
21:10and I didn't look
21:14for much more than that
21:15at the time.
21:22I thought, OK,
21:23I'll let this person
21:24take me out on a date.
21:28Um, yeah.
21:30And that proceeded
21:32to haunt me
21:34for over a decade.
21:46He did fix the shower.
21:48It was probably
21:49the only good thing
21:50he really did.
21:56Yeah.
22:05On our second date,
22:07we were sitting in his car
22:12and he kissed me
22:14and we proceeded
22:17to make out in his car
22:18like teenagers do.
22:22And then the next thing
22:23I know,
22:24he was holding me down
22:25and giving me
22:25this horrific hickey.
22:38I felt like
22:40I had been branded.
22:43He said to me
22:45in that moment,
22:47he was like,
22:48you're mine now.
22:54This person
22:55had come into my life
22:56and it was like
22:57a tornado.
23:01This is what we should do.
23:02This is what we should do.
23:03I need to be around you.
23:04I want to be around you.
23:05And I felt like
23:06I couldn't hear myself think.
23:08It was within weeks
23:10that we were living together.
23:13I thought if it didn't work out
23:14that I could just
23:15ask him to leave
23:16and that would be fine.
23:21Boy, was I wrong.
23:42following the conversation
23:43on the hill,
23:46Greg began
23:47reaching out to me online.
23:50The way I knew
23:51how to describe it
23:52at the time
23:52was that he had
23:53a crush on me.
23:56For the first years,
23:57they were pretty inconsistent.
23:59He sent me messages
24:00saying,
24:02I'm not trying to date you,
24:03by the way,
24:04but if you wanted to date me,
24:05of course I'd want to.
24:08Often I'd get a message
24:09on Valentine's Day
24:10or when you'd see me
24:12walking around Wellington.
24:15Happy Valentine's Day.
24:16I hope you got treated
24:17like the beautiful queen you are,
24:18but I also hope not
24:19because that would mean
24:20you have a potential love interest.
24:21But still hope it happened,
24:22but just maybe
24:23from someone you aren't
24:24interested in romantically
24:25because I wish it was me.
24:26Okay, bye.
24:29There was one point
24:30he sent me a bunch of memes.
24:32He clearly found a website
24:34that had a meme creator on it.
24:36Yo, dog.
24:37I heard you like
24:38ignoring and blocking me,
24:39so I made you some memes
24:40to ignore before you block me
24:42so you can ignore me
24:43and then block me.
24:45They were so stupid.
24:54During this time,
24:55he used his dog
24:56to try and emotionally
24:57manipulate me.
24:59Why won't Zini date my dad?
25:01Did I do something wrong?
25:02Does she know how amazing
25:04he thinks she is?
25:05She's the most beautiful girl
25:06inside and out to him,
25:07even though she laughed in his face
25:08and mocked him with her friends.
25:10Does she know he'd do anything
25:11to be with her?
25:12I thought she loved animals.
25:14I just want my dad to be happy.
25:19His messages weren't...
25:22mean.
25:23They were annoying.
25:26They were invasive.
25:30They were weird.
25:33Straight ahead,
25:34get over Zini and move on.
25:36Swerving off.
25:37Greg, the guy with the dog, Toby.
25:39Keep trying,
25:40even though she shows no interest.
25:53While Greg's harassment
25:55was in his kind of love-bombing phase,
25:58I didn't know where he lived.
26:01It felt like he could be anywhere.
26:09Wellington is this really unique landscape
26:11where it's just surrounded in hills.
26:14And it felt like I was just kind of trapped
26:17in this fish bowl.
26:27It felt like everything was caving in on me.
26:33I felt like anywhere I went,
26:35I was being observed.
26:44Every message I got over those years,
26:47I just kind of put into
26:51this invisible bag on my back
26:53and it just kept getting heavier
26:54and heavier and heavier.
26:57My anxiety slowly crept up
27:00and crept up and crept up.
27:06I felt so anxious all the time.
27:14My nervous system was fucked.
27:23Everything in my life
27:24just kind of dimmed.
27:27I was finding it really hard
27:29to leave my house
27:30and I found it really hard
27:32to get out of bed.
27:33I started spending all day,
27:35every day in my room.
27:38Stopped hanging out with friends.
27:45I was feeling really targeted,
27:47but the thought of walking
27:49into a police station
27:50and showing them these memes
27:52made me cringe.
27:56I could see them laughing in my face.
28:03I definitely thought
28:04that if I could ignore it
28:05for long enough,
28:06he'd stop.
28:09I don't know why,
28:13but his fixation
28:14just intensified
28:16throughout the years.
28:22And I felt like
28:22I had no control over that.
28:37I didn't sleep
28:39at all that night.
28:42Like, what the hell
28:43does this mean?
28:46The next morning,
28:48I was due to be filming
28:49for a campaign
28:50that I was doing.
28:51that was all about
28:52getting out with your friends
28:53and having fun
28:53and trying new things.
28:54OK, we have our hat
28:55with all of our options.
28:56Who's going to pick it out?
29:00Rock, Clayton!
29:02OK!
29:03We were just all
29:04having fun.
29:05I'm scared.
29:06Ground, I'm on the ground.
29:07I'm on the ground.
29:08I'm not looking down!
29:10Filming us conquering our fears,
29:12not knowing that
29:13our biggest fear
29:14was about to happen.
29:22Me and Irina
29:23are driving home together
29:24to get to our house
29:25and you would turn
29:26and there's like a beach
29:27in front of you.
29:28We saw this guy
29:29sitting on the beach
29:30and I remember
29:31making a joke to Irina
29:33and being like,
29:33hey, Peter,
29:35not thinking it's Peter.
29:37But the second that
29:38the house comes into view,
29:41we see this paper bag.
29:44Before you even opened it,
29:46I just knew.
29:48For some reason,
29:49you had your camera out,
29:50which, like,
29:51I don't know what,
29:52what were you?
29:53My brain went into,
29:54I have to document this
29:55if it is him.
29:56Yeah, I have to.
29:57I know true crime,
29:57I need to.
30:00Irina, she's Dutch.
30:01She starts opening the bag.
30:03That's Dutch treats.
30:03That's Dutch treats.
30:04And she's just like,
30:05these are Dutch treats,
30:06these are Dutch treats
30:07and I just start panicking
30:10and there is a letter
30:11and a card in there.
30:15And my eyes just
30:16darted immediately
30:17to the bottom
30:20where I saw his name.
30:24I don't think
30:26I've ever felt
30:27fear like that
30:28in my life.
30:33Hey Jazz,
30:34first of all,
30:35I'm sorry.
30:37It is kind of creepy
30:38but I just couldn't
30:39hold myself back
30:40from doing this.
30:43I really wanted to give you
30:45this letter
30:45and some Dutch snacks
30:47as a gift for you.
30:48I hope you will like them.
30:52I will try not to slide
30:54into your DMs
30:55or at your house again
30:56because I do feel bad
30:58for invading your own space.
30:59I am sending,
31:02I am sending you a hug
31:03through these words.
31:05Yours sincerely,
31:06Peter.
31:14It was like a really,
31:17really fast escalation.
31:20I never thought
31:21in a million years
31:22he'd be able to find me.
31:26That he knows where I live.
31:28That he found it
31:29and he found it
31:30so quickly.
31:38Part of it,
31:39he's trying to be so nice
31:40and then he's so creepy
31:41at the same time.
31:42You will try.
31:44You will try
31:44to not come to my house.
31:45Like what the?
31:48I'm sending you a hug
31:49just gives me this visceral
31:50like,
31:51I don't want you near,
31:52I don't want you to touch me.
31:53I don't want you near me.
31:54I don't.
31:55Ugh.
32:03He's literally flown here
32:04to find me.
32:05It's terrifying.
32:06Yeah, yeah.
32:07No, that's completely
32:08understandable.
32:09My address is so hard
32:10to find,
32:11so I don't,
32:11I have no idea
32:12how he's done it.
32:16He's potentially
32:16sitting down on the beach
32:17but I'm not sure
32:18if it's him.
32:19Okay, just hold on for me.
32:24I just remember you going,
32:25Jeremy, he found us.
32:26He's down at the beach.
32:28I said,
32:28cool,
32:28I'll go down
32:29and scope him out.
32:30Cool.
32:31The worst decision
32:32we could have made
32:32was to send you
32:33to the stalker.
32:39Jeremy starts taking photos
32:41and he's like,
32:42I'm like 99% sure
32:44that it's him.
32:47Oh my God.
32:49How did he find that?
32:52Good luck.
33:05If you do see him at all
33:06or if he makes any approach
33:08to you,
33:08anything like that,
33:09you'll have to call
33:09triple one straight away.
33:11Okay.
33:12All right.
33:12Thank you for calling.
33:13Thanks.
33:14I think he wanted me
33:17to be scared.
33:19He was going in between
33:21like what looked like
33:23writing notes
33:23and then looking up.
33:25He was observing
33:26and he was,
33:27he could see us
33:29and he's found me.
33:30He seemed very
33:33like cold.
33:35Like he,
33:37I'm not in his head,
33:38I don't know,
33:38but it felt like
33:39he was kind of
33:39enjoying the show.
33:42and then I called
33:43111.
33:46This person
33:47has been stalking you?
33:49Yep.
33:50Yeah.
33:51Yeah.
33:51Okay.
33:52Is he there now?
33:53Can you still see him
33:54on the beach?
33:55Yeah.
33:56My other,
33:56my other half-mate's
33:57down there
33:57sitting opposite him
33:58to watch him.
33:59Okay.
34:01Just the fact
34:02that he's flown
34:03to the other side
34:04of the world
34:04to find me
34:05is fucking terrifying
34:06and now he's
34:06found my address.
34:07Yeah.
34:08Okay.
34:10I don't know
34:11how long it took.
34:12It felt like
34:12maybe an hour
34:13before the police
34:14got there
34:14and by that point
34:15he had gone.
34:20Police took like
34:21a really thorough report.
34:23You could see this
34:25almost like panic
34:28in their faces.
34:30This is bad
34:32but legally
34:35we can't do anything
34:39because
34:40stalking
34:40is not illegal.
34:52Yeah.
34:52They said
34:53that there's nothing
34:53that they can do
34:54until he does something.
34:56So it was kind of like
34:58we just wait
34:59until he
35:02does what?
35:03God knows what.
35:04I don't know
35:04but you shouldn't
35:05stay in this house.
35:32The first time
35:32I tried to leave
35:33with him
35:34we had been dating
35:36for maybe six weeks
35:41and he had gotten jealous
35:47about me going out
35:47with some friends.
35:53He essentially thought
35:55that my friends were sluts
35:57and that I would go out
35:58and be a slut
35:59and he didn't want
36:02me
36:04hanging out
36:04with these people.
36:08I was on the phone
36:09to a girlfriend of mine.
36:14He started to get
36:15more and more aggravated
36:19and then he pulled
36:21out a knife.
36:27It was a threat
36:30of this is what
36:32I can do
36:32if you don't
36:35conform.
36:37If you want
36:37to go out
36:38with your friends
36:39you won't be.
36:49I remember
36:50at first
36:51thinking
36:52this is ridiculous
36:54what are
36:55you doing?
36:58And then
36:59I looked
37:00in his eyes
37:01and I
37:02just saw
37:04black.
37:09I said
37:10to my friend
37:11I have to go
37:12he's got a knife.
37:14She
37:15called the police
37:20and then
37:20about five minutes
37:21later
37:22the armed
37:23defenders
37:23were breaking
37:24down our door.
37:27He was arrested
37:28and I
37:31truly believed
37:32that he wouldn't
37:32come back
37:33after that.
37:49when I heard
37:49him knock
37:50on that window
37:50two hours
37:51later
37:51I was like
37:53what
37:54in the world?
37:57He stayed
37:58out there
37:58that whole
37:59night
38:00constantly
38:00knocking
38:02calling
38:03my name
38:03asking
38:04to be let
38:04in
38:06apologising
38:09saying
38:09he'll never
38:10do it
38:10again
38:11by the
38:11morning
38:12he'd
38:12just
38:12worn
38:13me
38:13down
38:15I let
38:15him
38:15in
38:16he was
38:17all
38:17apologies
38:19he
38:20had
38:23said
38:24that the
38:24issue
38:24was that
38:25we were
38:25living
38:25with
38:25other
38:26people
38:26and
38:26you know

38:31other
38:31people
38:32that
38:32were
38:33causing
38:33this
38:33trouble
38:36I was
38:36feeling
38:38disorientated
38:39by everything
38:40and that's
38:41when he
38:41suggested
38:43why don't I
38:44get a place
38:45and come
38:46stay together
38:47and so
38:48he had
38:50convinced
38:51me to
38:51move
38:51in
38:51with
38:51him
38:52into
