01:06The European Union has signed a revamped trade deal with Mexico as part of efforts to expand its influence in
01:13Latin America,
01:14shortly after the Mercosur Pact entered into force.
01:17Mexican President Claudia Sheenbaum was joined by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen
01:23and European Council President Antonio Costa for a summit in Mexico City to sign the deal.
01:29The goal here is simple.
01:31We want to create even more jobs and value on both sides.
01:37With swift ratification, tariffs on virtually all Mexican agri-food exports to Europe will disappear.
01:47Imagine the opportunities.
01:50European companies, drawn by Mexico's talent and dynamism,
01:56already support more than 5 million jobs here, and there is much more to come.
02:01The economic partnership reflects efforts on both sides to reduce their dependence on the U.S. and on China.
02:08The deal strengthens the EU's diversification strategy by updating a 20-year-old agreement
02:13that had already eliminated tariff barriers on bilateral trade.
02:21Two young French boys aged 4 and 5 were rescued in Portugal this week
02:26after they had been abandoned on the side of the road by their mother,
02:29with nothing but backpacks containing some food and water.
02:32They were found by a local passerby who took them to a bakery run by his family.
02:53The family took the children in, providing shelter, food and toys for them to play with.
02:58They had reportedly explained how their mother had left them in a wooded area.
03:14Police later took the children to a nearby hospital in the city of Stubal.
03:18They are currently in a foster family and in good health.
03:22Following a manhunt, their mother was found and arrested on Thursday
