Synopsis
Station House Officer Pawan Malik (Saif Ali Khan) marks his fortieth birthday on active duty in the small town of Jhamli, a volatile region on the West Uttar Pradesh and Haryana border. His assignment involves coordinating a security detail for investigative journalist Reema Dutta (Radhika Chauhan), who is arriving with a production crew to expose criminal activities linked to Anand Shri (Saurabh Dwivedi), a powerful and highly influential local spiritual guru. While escorting Dutta through a secluded transport route, the convoy is ambushed by two shooters operating a single motorcycle. A chaotic exchange of gunfire ensues, leaving Dutta and one of the attackers dead, while Pawan Malik and his trusted veteran confidant, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Y. (Sanjay Mishra), sustain injuries. The second assailant manages to flee the scene on foot, leaving behind crucial ballistic evidence.
Senior Inspector Keshav (Manish Chaudhari) threatens Malik with immediate suspension due to the high-profile failure of the protection detail.
