Emergency crews were called to Leasowe Bay after a man became stuck while trying to free his dog from thick mud. Coastguard officers are warning people not to attempt rescues themselves.

00:01A man and his dog had been rescued after becoming trapped in deep sticky mud at a
00:05beach in Wirral. The man went into the mud at Liso Bay while trying to help free his dog,
00:10but then became stuck himself up to his knees. Members of the public nearby heard his shouts
00:15for help and quickly called emergency crews to the scene. The Wirral Coast Guard rescue
00:20team arrived and used specialist equipment to carefully pull both the man and his dog
00:25safely free from the mud. The man was taken to hospital as a precaution following the
00:29incident. Coast Guard officers are again warning people never to attempt mud
00:35rescues themselves and to always call 999 immediately in the event of any emergency.
