Police have detained two men to assist investigations into a helium gas cylinder explosion at an expo site in Sungai Petani, Kedah on Thursday (May 22) that killed a 42-year-old trader and injured three others.

00:14Kuala Mooda OCPD Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan said investigations are still at an
00:20early stage to determine the cause of the incident, while police are also trying to
00:25identify the owner of the gas cylinder.
00:27He said the site has been temporarily closed to facilitate investigations.
00:32ACP Hanyan also urged visitors who suffered injuries in the explosion to come forward and
00:38lodge reports with the authorities.
00:40He said the blast sent debris flying up to 100 metres away, striking several victims, including
00:47the deceased, who suffered severe injuries to his right arm and chest.
00:51The victim, identified as 42-year-old Azmi Ahmad, was pronounced dead at the scene.
00:58The case is being investigated as a sudden death report and under Section 304A of the Penal
01:05Code for Causing Death by Negligence.
01:07Earlier reports said three others were injured in the explosion.
