I point out some future clues to James Bond adaptations present In sci-fi superhero film Flash Gordon (1980).

- Ming actor Max Von Sydow played Blofeld in Never Say Never Again (1983).
- Timothy Dalton (Barin) portrayed Bond in 2 films (The Living Daylights ('87) & License To Kill ('89))
- Chaim Topol (Dr. Zarkov) was Milos Columbo in For Your Eyes Only in 1981.
- Zarkov makes some offhanded statements in the course of the film that are quite interesting: At 58 min, 25 sec he & Dale Arden (Melody Anderson) are escaping Ming's palace and he mentions remembering the songs of The Beatles as one of his coping techniques to resisting Ming's brainwashing.
- Paul & Linda McCartney (Wings) performed the theme to '73 Bond film Live And Let Die.
- At 1 hr, 34 min, 36 sec Barin & Zarkov are chained up in Ming's dungeon. Dalton's character inquires: "tell me more about this man Houdini", referring to illusionist & actor Harry Houdini. Here, there may be a link to people who appeared on the album cover to The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967. Actor Tony Curtis played the magician in a 1953 movie produced by George Pal and can be seen just to the left and behind John Lennon.
