🙏🏻Who is Siddhartha Gautama?
Siddhartha Gautama, later known as the Buddha (“the Awakened One”), was a spiritual teacher who lived in ancient India around the 5th–6th century BCE. Born as a prince in Lumbini (present-day Nepal), he was raised in luxury and shielded from suffering. However, upon encountering the realities of aging, illness, and death, he renounced his royal life in search of a deeper truth.
After years of intense ascetic practice and meditation, Siddhartha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya. In that moment, he realized the nature of suffering (dukkha), its causes, and the path to liberation. He then spent the rest of his life teaching the Dharma—the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path—guiding countless beings toward wisdom, compassion, and inner freedom. His teachings became the foundation of Buddhism, one of the world’s major spiritual traditions.

Lyrics:

Bent like a bow, silver hair like the frost,
The strength of the youth in the winter is lost.
A mirror of time where the beauty has fled,
"Is this the end?" the young Prince said.
The fever burns hot and the breath comes in sighs,
A shadow has fallen o’er once-bright eyes.
No crown can protect from the touch of the gale,
The body is broken, the spirit is frail.
Stiff on the wood as the mourners all weep,
The ultimate silence, the infinite sleep.
The river stands still as the flame meets the sky,
Even the kings and the heroes must die.
But look past the gate where the orange robes flow,
A face full of peace that the world doesn't know.
Beyond the decay and the grief and the pain,
There is a path that leads out of the rain.
