A Rela assistant officer pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday (May 21) to four charges involving possession of a firearm, ammunition, dangerous weapons and an imitation pistol.

The 39-year-old also faces separate drug trafficking and drug possession charges linked to the same incident in Hulu Terengganu.

00:1739-year-old Mohamed Faizal Fauzi admitted to unlawfully possessing a Smith & Wesson pistol, 77 rounds of ammunition, an
00:27imitation airsoft pistol, and two karambit knives.
00:31The offences were allegedly committed inside a car parked along Kampung Tok Lawit Road in Hulu Terengganu at about 6
00:39.30pm on May 10.
00:41The firearm charge was framed under Section 8 of the Firearms Increased Penalties Act 1971, which carries a jail term
00:50of up to 14 years and a minimum of six strokes of the cane upon conviction.
00:54He was also charged under the Firearms Act 1960 for possessing ammunition without a license and an imitation pistol, as
01:03well as under the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 for possessing dangerous weapons in a public
01:10place without a lawful purpose.
01:12Judge Mohamed Zulzaki Kuddin Zulkifli denied bail and fixed June 7 for sentencing.
01:18Earlier, Faizal was brought before the Marang Magistrate's Court on separate charges of drug trafficking and drug possession, allegedly committed
01:26at the same time and location.
01:28No plea was recorded for the trafficking charge, which involves more than 227 grams of cannabis and carries the death
01:37penalty and whipping upon conviction, as the case falls under the High Court's jurisdiction.
01:43He also faces a charge of possessing more than 18 grams of suspected nitrazepam.
