00:00Hi, I'm Akshay Tarati, the host of Bloomberg Zero podcast.
00:03This week on the show, I had Richard Tice, deputy leader of Reform UK
00:08and the spokesperson for Energy and Net Zero.
00:11To understand how he thinks about climate and energy issues
00:14and crucially, what evidence shapes his views.
00:17Look, the climate's always changed for millions of years
00:20and it goes through cycles, long, medium and short.
00:24So, these things move in cycles and always has done, always will do.
00:31When I presented him with evidence from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
00:35that the warming we are seeing today is not because of natural causes
00:39but because humans are burning fossil fuels, well, things got heated.
00:44What is the point on carrying on a podcast where we fundamentally disagree on everything?
00:48Great. Well, we can fundamentally try to have a policy discussion
00:52because neither of us are scientists.
00:53I'm presenting you what the scientist said.
00:56You can take this home, you can read it later.
00:58I don't need to read it.
00:58We don't need to talk about science.
00:59Don't give me any of it.
01:00Yeah.
01:00It's a waste of, it's literally, you're wasting my time.
01:03And when shown more evidence...
01:05You can't present me with a whole load of graphs
01:08that I can't read, that may well be bullsh**t.
01:11Okay.
01:11Okay, and put this out there.
01:13So, this terminates now.
01:15It's end of podcast.
01:16Fortunately for us, that was not the end of podcast.
01:20You can hear the full episode on bloomberg.com forward slash zero hyphen podcast
01:25or wherever you get your podcasts.
01:27You won't want to miss it.
01:29You can have this debate all you want.
01:30We're winning it.
01:31Okay, we're winning elections.
01:33The voters are backing us.
01:34I'm just asking for evidence is all.
01:36I'm just asking for evidence.
