01:56Remember, Prime Minister Modi had landed in Italy yesterday evening and he had met with the Italian Prime Minister.
02:05He had also visited the Colosseum yesterday evening and today is the very, very crucial bilateral meeting between the two
02:15Prime Ministers.
02:16The PM has also met the Italian President during this tour.
02:22Remember, this is the last leg of his five-nation tour, which is expected to be a very, very crucial
02:31step for India-Italy relationship.
02:35He was also welcomed by the Indian diaspora.
02:39He also interacted with the Indian community members and enjoyed a cultural performance last evening.
02:45Today, of course, is the more serious visit.
02:50This is when the bilateral talks are expected to happen.
02:54The Prime Minister is expected to meet with the Italian President Sergio Mattarella.
02:58He is also expected to visit the headquarters of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
03:06He is also expected to participate in that very crucial bilateral meeting.
03:12Pranay Upadha is joining me on this story.
03:15Pranay, a very, very important day for the bilateral talks that are expected to begin at any point of time.
03:22Now, what more can you tell us about the expectations from this visit?
03:27There are great expectations as far as the tour of Prime Minister in Europe and especially to Italy as well,
03:34because Italy is the fourth and largest trading destination for India as far as Indian exports in Europe are concerned.
03:41Besides that, you know, you can see the visuals of how Prime Minister Hedwig is being received in Italy,
03:48how Prime Minister Giorgio Meloni has given him a tour of the Salosium,
03:52how these two leaders are bonding.
03:54And this is not about the pictures only.
03:57This is about the substantive aspect of this relationship.
04:02Because in the last two years, sports to Europe, especially to Italy, have grown up by 90%, almost 20%.
04:11And in fact, the remittance money, the foreign exchange coming from Italy in the form of remittance has grown up
04:17almost 32% in the last two years.
04:20So this clearly shows that Italy is opening up to Indian manpower.
04:24People are, you know, more number of Indian professionals are traveling to Italy.
04:27Almost 6,000 Indian students are there in various universities of Italy.
04:33And from defense collaboration to agriculture, to space, to science and technology, to, you know, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence,
04:41these are the emerging areas in which both Italy and India are trying to collaborate.
04:46Automobile and textile are also an important area where, you know, both Italy and India want to collaborate and stage
04:53a strategic partnership further.
04:55And both India and Italy are exploring the possibility of joint, you know, joint research,
05:01co-development and co-manufacturing of the different circumstances.
05:04This clearly shows that there is a level of, there is a degree of confidence in each other.
05:09And in fact, both countries have set, they have signed in place for a joint strategic action plan for since
05:152029.
05:16And in fact, both countries have set an ambitious target of, you know, taking their bilateral trade to 20 billion
05:24euro.
05:24So this is a very ambitious target.
05:26But both countries are hopeful with a growing number of bilateral trade,
05:31the number of, you know, the Italian companies that are storing Indian markets
05:35and the way, you know, Indian companies are always also investing in Italy,
05:40this bilateral trade is quite achievable.
05:44Thank you very much for that, Pranay Upadhyay.
05:48We are, of course, staying on this very story because as Pranay was just saying,
05:53this is going to be very, very crucial.
05:56Pranay, couldn't you tell us a little more about, I beg your pardon,
05:59and we seem to have lost the connection with Pranay Upadhyay right there.
06:02We will be, but this, viewers, is a very important day as far as India-Italy ties are concerned.
06:10As my colleague Pranay Upadhyay was just talking about,
06:13India and Italy are establishing larger ties when it comes to trade, when it comes to economy.
06:21And this is going to be, this meeting is going to be very, very crucial
06:25for the development of this strategic partnership that was established initially in 2023.
