02:32To kick us off, here's industry legend Zach Carlson talking about our team.
02:39Hello, everyone. I'm Zach, the Chief Operating Officer here at Godmode Games.
02:43We have assembled an incredible team of contributors.
02:47From published authors to gaming industry powerhouses that have worked for places like Epic, Nintendo, EA, Namco Bandai, Sony Online
02:56Entertainment, and Capcom.
02:59Collectively, we have assembled centuries of experience as developers, but more importantly, also as gamers.
03:06That's what makes this team truly different.
03:08We're not just here to churn out a product.
03:10We're here to make a game that we want to play.
03:13To build a new world that allows everyone to make new memories with great people like all of you.
03:19Building with our community is the most exciting part about all this.
03:23Taking feedback, having real discussions, talking about what we really want.
03:28Without egos getting in the way of great ideas.
03:32So, what is Holodeaf?
03:35Holodeaf is a fantasy MMORPG set in the land of Arathis.
03:40A beautiful but broken world, now scarred by regret.
03:45The gods once walked alongside their people, but now their people walk alone.
03:50In the absence of the gods that once protected them, a force known as the Hollow has crept into Arathis,
03:56twisting all it touches.
03:58These areas, known as Echoes, are tied to historical events lost to time, both tragic and divine.
04:07Civilization now struggles on its own, but hope hasn't been lost because people like you,
04:13adventurers with the power to become an oath-sworn,
04:16a multi-class adventurer with the strength to resist the Hollow,
04:20are taking the oath and choosing to fight for a future they want.
04:25Where great houses and factions trade power and privilege,
04:29you hold the fate of Thalora in your hands.
04:34Holodeaf draws inspiration from the giants that came before us,
04:38combining things we love with the things that we wished for as players,
04:42like systems that respect our time,
04:44that allow us to slay dragons while still being functional adults.
04:49That means,
04:50Hollowed Oath lets you make meaningful progress,
04:53on your own,
04:54at your own pace,
04:56but also enables you to discover,
04:58explore,
04:59fight,
05:00and power up with friends when you all have time.
05:03With our multi-classing system that allows you to make a character that's basically its own group,
05:09our synergy system that lets you draw the full potential out of that combination,
05:13and our journey system that lets you join an adventure at a moment's notice,
05:18you can game in a way that respects your time while still being incredibly fun.

05:25I'm going to kick it over to Alex and we'll dive in.

05:29Alex here,
05:30one of the co-founders of God Mode Games,
05:32and I want to talk about some of the systems for Hollowed Oath that we're most excited about.
05:37First,
05:37multi-classing.
05:38In Hollowed Oath,
05:39you don't just pick one class and stay locked into that identity forever.
05:42your character and your playstyle is not defined by a single rigid class definition.
05:47Your character is instead defined by the combination of paths you choose to follow as an Oathsworn.
05:54Our goal is to bring back that old-school MMO feeling of wonder and discovery,
05:58but with more opportunities to create your own build identity
06:01within a flexible system that lets players experiment and theory graph.
06:05Instead of asking,
06:06am I a tank, a healer, or a DPS,
06:08what we want is for players to be asking things like,
06:10what combination of abilities and roles would I choose if I was able to create my own class?
06:15Or,
06:15can I build a character that still solos well,
06:18but can support my friends when I choose to group a raid?
06:22Fundamentally,
06:23this system is about giving you the opportunity to play in a way that you want to play,
06:27on your own terms.
06:29Next, I would like to talk about our synergy system.
06:32In Hollowed Oath,
06:33we don't want abilities to exist in isolation.
06:36Many MMOs give you a hotbar full of skills,
06:38but those skills typically function as separate buttons.
06:41You memorize a sequence of those buttons to press for your damage rotation,
06:44and occasionally use a situational ability,
06:46such as a crowd control or healing.
06:48With our synergy system,
06:50each ability slot represents a decision space,
06:52not a single action,
06:53collapsing complexity into clarity,
06:55while preserving player agency and skill expression.
06:58Build your action bar layout to prioritize your abilities by cooldown,
07:01range,
07:02target type,
07:03and synergy state,
07:04allowing that slot to activate the correct ability for a given situation as you see fit.
07:09Alternatively,
07:10you can choose to break out a synergy slot into an entire ability bar
07:13to give you full control over which abilities you activate and when.
07:17As always,
07:18our priority is player agency and fun.
07:21Synergies themselves act as gameplay enabling statuses,
07:24allowing for class compositions that wouldn't typically mesh together.
07:28For example,
07:29an Elementalist will often inflict the burning condition on their opponents.
07:33If that player is also Justicar,
07:35they can follow up with Holy Fire for extra damage,
07:37or if they're a Marksman,
07:39Detonating Shot can spread that status to nearby enemies.
07:42These ability-level interactions give us opportunities to prevent a stale meta from developing,
07:47where a tiny set of builds are clearly the best,
07:50and help deliver on the promise of multiclass character and skill expression.

08:00and I wanted to share some of our quest system.
08:04Our team believes that quests can be more than a checklist or a list of objectives.
08:09They are how players experience the story and meet the people in it.
08:13So the idea is,
08:15you're not just passing through our world.
08:17With our quest,
08:18you're experiencing it,
08:20uncovering its secrets,
08:21and actually influencing what happens around you.
08:25You can log in,
08:26and do a quick quest if you want.
08:28But if you slow down a bit,
08:30you can explore,
08:32help our characters out,
08:34and actually see the impact of your decisions.
08:36And if you really start looking around,
08:40there are stories told just through the environment.
08:43We like to leave little clues around
08:45that let you figure out what happened there,
08:47or if something's still lingering.
