00:00:16because of the weekend and boy are you a happy man not to have a heart strip on today
00:00:21i was 10 minutes away from eternal embarrassment to be honest with you and the strip was already
00:00:26the wheels are in motion from people at hearts to get me the strip so i'm pretty glad that celtic
00:00:32combined one i'm not gonna lie yeah um just before we start and obviously i think the good thing about
00:00:37it thank god i've got the uh three guys with me here is we will try and give you our
00:00:42honest opinion
00:00:43on the events of the weekend and our take on it and i have to say there's been a fair
00:00:49bit of hysteria
00:00:50but to put it into perspective uh it's nothing to do with football i just thought it was only
00:00:55right and proper that i'd mention this um that scott hastings passed away at 61 years of age
00:01:01um as a young reporter at radio fourth in edinburgh the uh well the lucky uh situation where i could
00:01:09interview scott on more than a few occasions when he uh would do some stuff for our rugby program
00:01:14uh he was a brilliant man a great rugby player and sadly passed away and it puts life into perspective
00:01:2161 years of age rugby and i was devastated when i heard it yeah i got very friendly with him
00:01:26and his
00:01:27wife and the family you know we used to go up to aberdeen every year and play pro-am golf
00:01:31day and it
00:01:32was a whole weekend it was playing cricket and everything you know and unfortunately i was at
00:01:37his wife's funeral a couple of years ago tragic circumstances there as well so i don't think a lot
00:01:44of his knew the situation he was in you know they obviously kept it in-house uh but when i
00:01:49heard the
00:01:49news yesterday i think we were more than me he would be devastated by the guy he's just such a
00:01:56nice
00:01:56guy and anybody who came across him he's so focused particularly in the rugby obviously did all the
00:02:01world cups and other but uh it's a sad thing yeah absolutely our thoughts and prayers go out to
00:02:06all his family and friends uh we love our sport um we certainly love football and what a weekend
00:02:14it was the main headline celtic win the title on the final day the spfl clear up whistle gate i
00:02:20thought
00:02:20i'd tag it like that uh pitch invasion hearts players um allegations are being attacked intimidated
00:02:27uh and crowd trouble in the city center we'll debate that mother will secure fourth place congratulations
00:02:32to them andrew kavanagh is sticking by danny roll scott arfield's in line to be the player coach at
00:02:38livingston it's the playoffs with partick thistle going to take on st miran and we still have the
00:02:43small matter of the cup final to come and by the way the special one is back at real madrid
00:02:47on a two-year deal there you are i've just managed to cover as many of the bases as i
00:02:53possibly can
00:02:54so with that in mind um josé marino the special one i thought i'd do the elite joinery and fire
00:03:01protection quiz for you and it's fairly straightforward how many trophies has josé marino won at real
00:03:06madrid do you want to have a wee go at that one because he's been there before ten seven seven
00:03:13i'll
00:03:14go six six okay we'll give you the answer at the end of the program today good luck with that
00:03:21thanks
00:03:21to uh elite for sponsoring our quiz question as ever and we'll start off by saying congratulations to
00:03:27derek mckinnis scottish football writers association had their dinner uh last night they've had some
00:03:32fantastic speakers along the way and eventually they just had to cut the budget you know year in
00:03:38year out uh tam you were the main speaker
00:03:44you were the main speaker last night oh man struggle like that bye hold on to that five minutes into
00:03:50i was like oh a wee uppercut yeah uh did you do well yeah it was good uh i was
00:03:55on after uh big chris
00:03:56sutton oh it's dovey renna yeah i think derek must have thought when he sat down me and him by
00:04:02the
00:04:02speakers so did you do walk on at the end no uh kept it uh non-celty green rangers but
00:04:12uh no i've
00:04:12been doing well and uh i thought roger hannah who was hosting it for the first time done really well
00:04:18as well so it was like it was a great night and uh fair play to derek for turning up
00:04:22must have been a
00:04:22tough one for him and claudio braga spoke really well as well um so congratulations to him and
00:04:29obviously barney stewart as well yeah absolutely uh barney stewart picked up the uh scottish football
00:04:33writer young player but uh great listen yeah you know it must have been a tough time for him uh
00:04:39we
00:04:40will discuss and digest all the events and try and offer our take on it without too much hysteria
00:04:46but to turn up at that event you know it would have been the hardest thing uh bearing in mind
00:04:52they've been they've been at the top of that table for so long alec yeah i think it would have
00:04:56been a body blow in the back of the developments the day before and the disappointment peter because
00:05:01they've led for such a long time and uh but i think it says a lot for derek you know
00:05:05i mean he's
00:05:05been recognized by the writers uh these guys you know they they trap up all over the stadiums
00:05:12the grounds throughout the course of the year and i've obviously announced derek as a the manager
00:05:16i think he's been absolutely tremendous i think he's led that team brilliantly
00:05:20and um i think they are a kind of a mold of him as a person you know you watch
00:05:26him develop over the
00:05:27years uh and he's got them really bang at it and unfortunately for them he just couldn't go over
00:05:32the line in the end yeah uh we'll discuss that um because it was the showdown it was the one
00:05:37that
00:05:37everybody was talking about three goals to one celtic won it in the end um the atmosphere was
00:05:43unbelievable ruffy i was there obviously um not in the press box but pretty close to it uh the
00:05:50atmosphere was incredible it wasn't a great game and if i you know i i'd rather we'll start with the
00:05:56positives and then we'll get into the negatives but in the end you know martin anil made as derek
00:06:02mcginnis has had uh been able to do on many occasions he utilized the squad changed the formation
00:06:09and the and the changes won the game for them yeah you're right you know the game itself you
00:06:13know and after 45 minutes i think if if i'd been a hearts player i would be saying to myself
00:06:18we can do
00:06:19this you know this team aren't great this team aren't causing as many problems you get the first
00:06:24goal uh unfortunately the penalty knocks you back a wee bit but certainly in the dressing room
00:06:29you would believe in that uh you could get something at that game but i thought when the clock hit
00:06:3575
00:06:36a lot of hearts players look tired they looked really tired mentally and physically and obviously
00:06:42as you said martin threw and the subs that uh turned the game for me you know i thought they
00:06:47came on they were fresh and they certainly that time we're going forward and going forward and
00:06:52hit the post you know a couple of wee goalie had a good save but you saw it coming but
00:06:56i mean to be
00:06:57three minutes away if we win in a league would be hard to take the other thing about it and
00:07:03i know
00:07:03some people have been you know and you guys are professional footballers some people have been
00:07:08getting miffed about derrick's tactics of wasting time this is a team that have led the table for so
00:07:15long you're going into basically 60 000 who are against you and you're trying to come out and please
00:07:22750 fans and you're trying to take on a team that their favorites then to win it and to score
00:07:29from the
00:07:30corner you know you're automatically thinking you you would any team would use every trick in the
00:07:35book yeah i don't think it's time wasting i think it's game management and that's you know derrick's
00:07:40great at that i think his team were really good at that the whole game i thought the first half
00:07:43he had his tactics perfect he left orson trusty on the ball you let him have it i think he
00:07:49had the
00:07:49most touches of the ball in the first half he let him have it he didn't he didn't double the
00:07:52you
00:07:52know he just left because he can't pass the ball he's a bag of nerves
00:07:56eh kabori dropped into mcgregor the whole first half very disciplined dropped into him mcgregor
00:08:00couldn't get on the ball either the two fullbacks i thought snuffed out yang and tenecte and hearts
00:08:05were brilliant in the first half and if they got in at 1-0 i think they'd have won the
00:08:08league peter i
00:08:09think that penalty just before half time was crucial for celtic was it a penalty yeah it's a penalty
00:08:13kick um it comes off his hand i don't think there's any dispute in that but i just thought at
00:08:19that
00:08:19time celtic were struggling and and if hearts could have gotten it 1-0 i'd have fancied them to go
00:08:23and win the game but
00:08:25just celtic getting that goal and then the start of the second half a little bit better as ruffy
00:08:28said the substitutions that came on hearts looked leggy i think benigni making off was a huge blow for
00:08:33the injuries he got early doors time really gave him it was a real setback for them because it then
00:08:38kind of hampers what you can do later on in the game because you've already used the two moments
00:08:42i also thought the big blow and we're not making excuses we're making observations on it i thought
00:08:47leonard and halkett going into it without those two as well you know because if you're looking for a
00:08:53rear guard and you're looking for defense and you're looking for the midfielders to suddenly
00:08:57lock in and then halkett and finley would have been there i'm not saying it would have changed
00:09:02the game but those things are blows as well and another thing if you look at it alec i just
00:09:08put
00:09:08together the the post split you know martin and you'll say after the defeat to dundee united win
00:09:12eight consecutive games oh no it's incredible you know and then from the 14th of march hearts had two
00:09:18defeats to killie and celtic and the draws against livingston and mother will absolutely killed them
00:09:24rangers four consecutive defeats out of five after the split no it's listen if you listen if you're
00:09:30touching on rangers that's nowhere near good enough you know they they folded you know we talk about
00:09:34the pressure and uh i think we'll go into that later on peter about the mentality and things it's
00:09:39been very well documented from the rangers perspective from the manager and now the owner
00:09:44so you know but the one thing that celtic did was they went into overdrive at that period and
00:09:49they showed their level of consistency it was interesting because we were sitting in here
00:09:52i don't know five six games to go and go listen don't worry about it people they're going to drop
00:09:56points you know each team we said this week in week out celtic never and they were relentless and
00:10:01they managed to go over the line yeah and there's a few bits that we have to try and clear
00:10:05up ruffy
00:10:07the referee clears up the fact that when celtic score the third goal the full-time whistle's blown
00:10:12end of story i think i didn't see it i didn't hear it he must have been the only one
00:10:16that had
00:10:16i must admit i i looked i mean do you know the funny thing is ruffy and this is the
00:10:21one thing
00:10:22that takes us into the area where i think we've got to pull no punches on it i didn't hear
00:10:27that
00:10:27didn't see it i saw the fans coming on to the park i could hear the majority of people in
00:10:33the ground
00:10:33were absolutely raging with them these were people who were jumping on at one point tam before i get to
00:10:39the hearts players at one point i looked and there was a like a guy who easily was 50 years
00:10:44of age
00:10:45running about on the park and i'm thinking what what are you doing what are you doing you know
00:10:50why are you on the park now we could have the um rod petre line from many many moons ago
00:10:55you know
00:10:55the over exuberance i get where marty neil's coming from they've just won the league you get
00:11:00people jumping on at the park you get kids jumping onto the park and you know that's fine but when
00:11:06you get to a point ruffy and i watched the two hearts players specifically because i was watching
00:11:10and i was in a position in that stand where i could see clearly shankland and the fans were goading
00:11:18them
00:11:18and they were coming towards them now i don't know as a professional footballer tam but if somebody's
00:11:23coming towards you you are not wondering you know am i going to let me i'm going to wait you
00:11:27know you
00:11:27are trying to get him off you they shouldn't have been subject subjected to the intimidation the
00:11:32goading and a couple of them were attacked and i think the celtic fans are embarrassed by
00:11:38that group of people who thought it was okay to go towards heart players i thought it was bang out
00:11:43of order yeah i think everybody to a man would agree with that you know you heard the booing you
00:11:48know from the majority of the the supporters in there they knew exactly what was happening
00:11:52you that situation again you should be celebrating no talking about all the bad things about it and
00:11:57that's what these people went on the park did they took away a wee bit at that moment in time
00:12:02of the celebration that should have been there and the chance for the hearts players to go to their
00:12:07supporters and say thanks very much so that's what that hooligan element that we're on the park did for
00:12:13that game the police um have said that they'll view the cctv innocence or guilt will not be determined
00:12:21by punters or pundits or anybody putting out their own narrative guilt will be decided by people who
00:12:28check and say why were you on the park we've got cctv of you if you have been in any
00:12:33way um guilty of
00:12:35attacking a hearts player then you'll be found out that will be determined by the police and the spfl will
00:12:40look at the footage and they'll determine what fine comes celtic way because i think they know they're
00:12:45going to get a thing yeah they certainly are peter at the very least you know you were at the
00:12:49game
00:12:50you're you're at 50 yards for the for the action you know so you've you've got a better view than
00:12:55any of us here and if you're saying that you know hearts players were attacked then and you know i'm
00:12:58going to take your word for that so there's going to be cctv looked at there's going to be police
00:13:02involved and i'd like to think if they if they catch people who were on there you know and assaulting
00:13:07hearts players they'll be banned for life and there's no other getting away from that you can't
00:13:11just say oh we'll fine you or you'll get a year's ban don't get back to the stadium yeah one
00:13:15of the
00:13:16things that i found really disturbing at the point and because i know a lot of the backroom team at
00:13:20hearts i i could see one of the people who works in hearts administration claire cowan coming on to
00:13:28the park and she looked visibly shaken and upset as she was trying to get them off off the park
00:13:33and that for me i thought was was a really scary moment if you are there i'm not surprised
00:13:41about them just going straight on the bus and just going they must have been absolutely devastated
00:13:46on the flip side of that that you know the majority of celtic fans ruffy are there to enjoy the
00:13:53game
00:13:53john swinney the first ministers come out today and say that look at legislation to make it illegal
00:13:58to go onto the park you know i don't see that i don't see that coming into effect that that
00:14:03is
00:14:04martin o'neill said in talk sport today you're talking about they've scored a goal to win the league
00:14:09people are people are excitable over exuberantly will go on the park but you know there's so many
00:14:16clubs right across the whole of the uk fans go on the park what are you doing you're arresting them
00:14:20all yeah we see it every year i mean you see it in particular down in england i mean alex
00:14:24probably
00:14:24saw it down there at the playoffs you know most of the the end of the games sometimes the whole
00:14:30part's covered in supporters because they're they're celebrating their team but it's it's stay away
00:14:35for the opposition you know celebrate with your own players you know and enjoy the moment but when
00:14:40you start doing the things that you were talking about there that's just a no-go area but uh you
00:14:45the situation to win that goal and i don't think you can and i don't know if you can blame
00:14:51the police
00:14:52you know for the you know they're there to stop that kind of thing or the scoot the stewards we
00:14:57all say
00:14:57you know you could do better but i don't think anybody expected it peter peter sorry so see the
00:15:04thing is in terms of where we go as a society or sort of as an organization the football and
00:15:09things
00:15:09where do we go with it all because if you don't put any legislation in the sfa don't do any
00:15:14sanctua
00:15:15like that a lot of fine um so you've got the sfa you've got the spfl and you've got police
00:15:20scotland
00:15:21who they feel as if they have been hard done by you know maybe some of the stuff after the
00:15:26game and
00:15:26things so you have a real kind of concoction of things that if nothing gets done or nothing gets put
00:15:32in
00:15:32place then we just it just rolls on i i accept i accept that point and by the way i
00:15:38i would usually
00:15:39read out uh quite a number of people who want to engage with us on the program uh you know
00:15:46i i'm not
00:15:46really bothered whether you like what i'm saying or not i don't care um i was at the game i
00:15:51watched it
00:15:51i don't think fans should be allowed to go on and intimidate and goad um and go towards hearts
00:15:58players and threaten their safety i just don't think it's right um and we where do we go well
00:16:06i'll tell you i'll tell you what we've witnessed in the last week which again sums the whole thing up
00:16:10you have you have police outside john beaton's house you have and i know this for a fact andrew
00:16:18dallas for the worst week of his life you know for what he called on the var john beaton calls
00:16:24a
00:16:24a handball these boys are doing their job yet their families are under threat you have a situation
00:16:33now where you have and quite a lot of people buy into it and that's fine you know you don't
00:16:37need to
00:16:37come and watch plz soccer or or listen to radio stations if you don't want your freedom of choice
00:16:43you can do what you want but we have in the last year i've witnessed more than anything
00:16:48you have people now you and i've had this discussion when you first come back to scotland
00:16:52you have flag wavers you have people who are absolutely so partisan on air you know and i and
00:17:00i've had in the last 24 hours somebody on their twitter naming me in a and a joist that he's
00:17:06had with
00:17:06you um you have fans literally on uh parading as pundits making all sorts of stupid statements
00:17:14to try and you know you know stick with their own crowd you know but there's a lot of really
00:17:20good
00:17:20journalists a lot of really good pundits who are balanced who can look at something and call it as
00:17:24it is but we i don't know how we do it i don't know how we police it it's so
00:17:27difficult to police
00:17:28you can't go and arrest everybody who's on the park you certainly can't arrest people like the
00:17:34person who's been arrested for for releasing john beaton's no no dad because that's a data
00:17:38protection thing isn't it and so see the thing is and the ramifications of that what was it online
00:17:44they did it on tour yeah so the ramification for that are absolute idiotic and madness because
00:17:50ultimately john beaton's now sitting with a police escort patrol outside his house which is not
00:17:55acceptable now does that detract from so there's two separate things this boy decides to put that
00:18:02on line which causes john beaton untold distress which is bang out of order and i don't think
00:18:07anybody could condone that kind of starts as madness but then you've also got the refereeing standards
00:18:12which most people are feeling is across the board feel as if they've declined a little bit this year
00:18:17yeah i i just think you know and it's not just about it's not it's certainly not just about
00:18:22celtic roughly that the social media society as a whole thinks it's okay that you you you can get
00:18:30away with well that's i thought i think we talked about it a couple of years ago and there was
00:18:35somebody down in parliament or something that was bringing out some new legislation instead of hiding
00:18:40under a name you have to be published as the name you know that behind it yeah and i thought
00:18:47they
00:18:48were going to stop that i thought they were going to pursue that and get that out the window but
00:18:51that obviously i mean these people are just hiding behind a name you know and well done to the police
00:18:58for catching that guy who were beaten i don't know because i suppose he would use a another name so
00:19:03it
00:19:03can be done you can do it but as you say you know there was far too many people on
00:19:08that part not
00:19:08everybody you know threatening hearts players but the ones that were threatening them i'm sure ccd
00:19:14we can catch them they have to be seen to be in something doing something i mean there was i
00:19:19remember the
00:19:20guy that get caught and he's he's his company sacked him yes you know things like that that's
00:19:25that's the things that get you would like to think that's the thing that gets through to other people
00:19:30to stop them doing it what about strike liability peter they tried that like two years ago i don't
00:19:35think i know the clubs voted against it no no but no no i know the clubs are voting against
00:19:40it but
00:19:40what i'm saying to you is if certain fan bases regardless of what club it is yeah then if there
00:19:46was a punishment to that club a deterrent so you say he's got not necessarily the weekend and i'm
00:19:51talking about across the board well if that was the case hearts would win the league because
00:19:54celtic fans came on when they scored in the game against rangers no no i mean he's talking he's talking
00:20:01about i'm just talking about going forward for example just pluck it any any fan base comes on
00:20:09the pitch yes and you forfeit the game that literally that so what i'm saying is then the
00:20:14responsibility becomes to to the club for the fans behavior and then that way there's nowhere to go
00:20:20but then what you do is you put a stop to because fans will not come on the pitch if
00:20:23it costs you
00:20:24three points well can i tell you something i i i i i understand where you're coming from but the
00:20:29problem is here you know celtic and rangers are now in a battle to see who's paying for
00:20:34when the broom broom loan road end was wrecked yeah in the scottish cup tie yeah there's a debate over
00:20:39how much money the celtic fans don't get that they've wrecked an area where celtic are going to
00:20:44have to pay money i don't know i i mean and by the way does that not go back to
00:20:48liability then
00:20:49has that not been the case for a long time because i think yeah that has been the case for
00:20:52rangers and
00:20:53celtic fans going to both grounds they have to pay but it hasn't stopped them so strict liability
00:20:57but be a bit of a minute peter and listen we see this a lot with paratechnics they go oh
00:21:02we're
00:21:02looking at monkeys we're going to just kind of whistle we love this display it's another 20 000
00:21:06pound fine it's not really it it's not really hurting anyone is it really but i think the clubs
00:21:10right across europe and especially in scotland i think you're right robbie i don't think they want
00:21:15strict liability they're not willing to imagine it was points peter well absolutely can you imagine
00:21:18time they're going to think about it and by the way see if you think like as an example at
00:21:22the
00:21:22weekend the majority of celtic fans weren't quite happy with these folk going on the pitch
00:21:27according to not just you but most people were at the game they were booing if they were going on
00:21:32the pitch no one find where that we're going to lose points there would be self-policing believe me
00:21:37if you ever want to go on that pitch you'd be going where you going yeah they'd be filled in
00:21:40after the
00:21:40game absolutely costing the team a league and listen the other thing about it and this is the other
00:21:45thing about uh the context of it all is you know the majority of celtic fans were there the atmosphere
00:21:52was absolutely fantastic the 752 hearts fans were there were singing their hearts out as well
00:21:58it had the makings of just an unbelievable occasion had hearts been able to hold on
00:22:04you know can you imagine the feeling i mean the pubs up and down edinburgh were all stacked with
00:22:09people it was it was absolutely incredible i've no problem with the the and by the way i'm giving
00:22:16you the narrative of what's come out from it ruffy which is basically from from from the moment it
00:22:23happened um hearts condemned the behavior uh and then said you know the pitch invasion invasion caused
00:22:31a chaotic end and nobody seemed to know whether or not the match had been brought to a finish
00:22:34they've mentioned that as well but they paid tribute to derrick mcinnis and the staff
00:22:39um and none of them deserved the disgraceful scenes that unfolded now um sbfl sent the
00:22:46congratulations to celtic and then at the footnote overall and i'm paraphrasing here condemning the
00:22:51scenes which saw a number of celtic supporters encroach onto the field of play they're going to wait
00:22:55for the match reports on that and see what happens and they'll obviously uh urge anyone with
00:23:01information about alleged criminal activity to contact police scotland celtic to their credit issued an
00:23:08apology apology to hearts the staff um for what prevailed after uh the ball hit the back of the
00:23:15net um we apologize to hearts for the situation encountered by their players and staff at the
00:23:20conclusion of the game and for the fact that these events prevented them from saluting their own
00:23:24supporters at the end of an enthralling campaign to which they've been contributed so much
00:23:29i don't know if the strict liability understand where you're coming from i don't know if that
00:23:33i don't know if that will be brought into effect i don't think they'll embrace it um but the other
00:23:39thing that john swinney did point out was should there have been a situation where celtic should
00:23:45have made known that there was going to be a gathering an event if they won the league at celtic
00:23:51park or at
00:23:51a park or somewhere let's go rather rather well glasg or glasg green rather than this situation which
00:23:57you have in the city center roughly where yob's across yob's just just wrecked the place
00:24:03it's not the first time it's happened it's happened there it's happened at joz square
00:24:06and the damage that gets created it's just it's just not one at all you know and for it have
00:24:13happened once twice three times and something or somebody i don't know who would be charged it
00:24:18maybe the club themselves have the responsibility to say right you're going to the glasg green
00:24:22there's a cordoned off bit there and that's where you're going or something like that but
00:24:27nobody again nobody seems to have taken notice nobody's taken you know it's happened and it's
00:24:33happened and they just forgot about it do you think there needs to be some kind of summit in the
00:24:38summer
00:24:38something i mean i know i know listen i know george folks and what did i say to you on
00:24:43friday i say to
00:24:44you if celtic win the league there will be calls for inquiries there will be you know this that the
00:24:51other would take place and that's exactly the way it's unfolded george folks is calling for an
00:24:55inquiry he's written a letter to fifa now i'm not in any way diminishing his uh right to do that
00:25:01i'm
00:25:02just saying do the spfl need to take the lead first of all and try and the clubs as well
00:25:06i think the
00:25:07clubs have got a it's their supporters that are causing all the damage so i think they all should
00:25:11get around a table you know we keep hearing about meetings that they keep having but this is getting
00:25:16so important now that uh it's happening far too often and it has to stop peter listen listen to
00:25:22john swanity did he can i allude that there was a fan zone place so that the hearts fans would
00:25:29have
00:25:29been attending we got we got um information from hearts that if they were to win the league this
00:25:35would be the process and the process would be they i think they got to the city chambers at a
00:25:39certain
00:25:39time and and go all the way in a parade down to time castle the fans would be allowed into
00:25:44the
00:25:45stadium and then they could celebrate with the players open top bus there would be interviews
00:25:49there would be an open top bus as well which yeah because see the thing is i think listen listen
00:25:53see with the various councils so you've got edinburgh council you've got glasgow council um and i think
00:26:01because you need planning you need permission from the council if you go to glasgow green you would
00:26:05need uh permission for glasgow city council there and i don't think that's hard if rangers won the
00:26:10league taking to bella houston park you know if they want to take a lap on around ibrox
00:26:14and then obviously parkhead you go to the the nearest part to that yeah and then facilitate
00:26:20that and then you would be there for security and things because it would be in a park you're
00:26:23not in the streets of glasgow roaming about to whatever time for across the board yeah or
00:26:29edinburgh for that matter um we wait to find out what punishment will uh come the way of the people
00:26:37who were on the park because you're not allowed on the park simple as that so we wait to find
00:26:43out
00:26:43what happens there it doesn't take away and i think martin o'neill was right to point it out it
00:26:47doesn't take away from the fact that uh you know over the course of the game over the course of
00:26:52the
00:26:52season they've somehow through all the madness ruffy you know wilfred nancy brendan rogers they've
00:27:00somehow with a 74 year old man managed to get in there and wave the wand work out how to
00:27:07get the best out
00:27:08of a honda civic i hate to say to you but i did i did say to you i said
00:27:19there is something about
00:27:20martin o'neill we have chopped and changed our opinion but i said the martin o'neill effect and
00:27:25i was mocked for it on this program the martin o'neill effect is great there's something about him
00:27:31he still has what people have in this game and i think you have it as a quality you know
00:27:36is you can
00:27:38you want to do something but you want to get to put your head through a brick wall we've said
00:27:41that
00:27:41all along about a manager coming into a a new club when he walks through that door you then either
00:27:49look
00:27:49up and go well he's got that aura and it's the same at every club you know when that new
00:27:54manager
00:27:55walks through and he and he's got something and martin has got something there's no doubt about it he's
00:28:00been there he's done it and he's actually been honest enough to say when at the training ground
00:28:04people think i'm a vagrant because he does it in yeah he just walks about well the two coaches
00:28:10obviously do the coaching he does his bit yeah whatever that is you know and if you ask any of
00:28:15the players when he walks into the dressing room and he says something then they take it in yeah and
00:28:20that is a great thing to have if you're a manager but i'm not i i think he does something
00:28:26i think what
00:28:26he does is he sits there with the coaches and said look listen this is the way i want to
00:28:30play it
00:28:30you go and instruct that i don't need to be on the i don't need to be on the training
00:28:34pitch but i'm
00:28:35going to work out the motivation i'm going to look at the way the game's on listen this guy's won
00:28:39two
00:28:39european cup medals this guy's won two a championship he's been unbelievable um and countless honors as a
00:28:47manager in england and in scotland so he knows how to change games he understands it but the great thing
00:28:53that i think about malik is turn around and have a word with you he puts your hand on your
00:28:57back and
00:28:57said listen son i know i know exactly you know the thing is you because i worked with peter reed
00:29:02never took any of the training and obviously he did some incredible things at sunderland
00:29:08and but they have a persona when they talk you're like you're hanging off every word they did walter
00:29:14smith had it as well yeah you know i don't i know walter did the the coaching but what he
00:29:17had that
00:29:18presence and that kind of and i'll and i'm thinking back to because before you threw in the
00:29:22two uh champions league uh european cups back in his day yeah do you remember him sitting on the
00:29:28panel for itv do you remember he was sitting with two two world cup one else they went boys you
00:29:33don't even know who i'm on but i had two two european cups in the bag so calm down boys
00:29:36you know what i mean so that shows you he's got the whole stick and i go cool so the
00:29:41thing is
00:29:42and a lot of these boys wouldn't have known who martin and he was when they come in
00:29:45but as soon as you find out and you get that kind of interaction with him right away you know
00:29:49because you could sense it after these guys yeah and the other thing about it which i thought was
00:29:55fantastic and i've got a lot a lot of time for him um tam is he looked at it at
00:30:00half time and thought
00:30:02this isn't working and we and he did say on friday you know we are going to throw the catch
00:30:08and
00:30:08sink at this we're going all out all guns blazing so he brings on ianacho and then that the
00:30:15real three after that that swung it for me he brings on james forrest who then goes forward
00:30:20immediately he brings on srachi who's going past players he was very good and then he brings on
00:30:25the forgotten boy who was very very good before he got injured callum osmond yeah the substitutions
00:30:31changed the game changed the flow of the game changed the momentum of the game and as ruffy said
00:30:35earlier i think when an actual turns inside hits the post and then it was a header that came in
00:30:40it
00:30:40was a great save of the goalkeeper you're thinking right there's a goal coming here and
00:30:43i just think you know martin's obviously a top manager but you're right i think he just he's
00:30:48got he smells he smells something and he goes right i'm going to play him i'm going to put him
00:30:52on there and he knows how to get results so i think martin and he was dragged a mediocre celtic
00:30:58squad over the line this season honestly if you don't get him in celtic don't win the league
00:31:02you know if wilfred nonce is allowed to sit in a couple of weeks celtic don't win the league
00:31:08they pulled the plug at the right time they got martin back and they won it in the last day
00:31:11but if they left it another couple of weeks it was done tam do you know you make a really
00:31:16interesting
00:31:17point there about the subs i think over the course of the season i think the biggest impact has came
00:31:22for the celtic bench because the amount of times they bring players on and they get late goals you
00:31:27know ian natural forest has done it as well and and and that for me is crucial because we've spoke
00:31:33about
00:31:33the importance of hearts they look this season they've managed to bring guys off the bench you go
00:31:37that's like for like and i think the depth has helped hearts considerably but i think the class
00:31:42coming off of the celtic bench is ultimately it's got them the title because they've scored so many
00:31:46goals later on do you think you should be offered the job do you think you'll want to take the
00:31:50job
00:31:51or do you think there's someone else well obviously everybody's listening to the wee soundbites after
00:31:55the game when they ask him he'll go i'm 74 you know i like having my coffee down in london
00:32:01and all that
00:32:01but if he gets offered that he's not going to say no if he doesn't he take it i really
00:32:06do think he
00:32:07should have some part in and celtic moving forward i think a board a board him and the board the
00:32:12board
00:32:12are obviously getting pelters off all the fans all year they're if they're not sensible enough they're
00:32:18putting him on that board because if he goes on that board that'll quell some of the stuff that's
00:32:23going about and his wisdom he's got in the game must rub off on them particularly where they were
00:32:27talking about the rejuvenation of the whole team you're talking 15 players maybe
00:32:31going out and 15 players coming in so you need some is that what they're talking about this year
00:32:36they'll go about eight out and loan the loan players will all go there's going to be drastic changes
00:32:41they're also by the way the division between fans and the board hasn't gone away so i i wonder if
00:32:49dermot desmond will look and try and you know look at changing the board freshening it up and then
00:32:54maybe changing the attitude because the next person who comes in if it's martin remember martin was the
00:32:59manager he controlled everything at celtic first time around he'll not be coming back in you know
00:33:05looking for some people saying i'm doing this i'm doing that if he gets a one or a two year
00:33:10deal
00:33:10he'll be saying well i'm the manager i'm controlling this you know so i think from that point of view
00:33:16he's definitely going to there's going to be some talking to say have i got the money have i got
00:33:21the
00:33:21backing to get the players i want the same ones that brendan wanted you think they'll give him the power
00:33:25peter because modern day managers don't tend to have that whole autonomy well jabby alonso has
00:33:31just been made manager of chelsea yes you know so it's it's you know it's not as if it's it's
00:33:35something that's as you say alec in this day and age alec if you had two young coaches can you
00:33:41afford
00:33:42to have somebody like that matter just making just making give you the energy the younger coaches
00:33:47i'm going to be honest with you i think maloney's helped him considerably and i don't i genuinely don't
00:33:52know how it played out at half time yesterday whatever it was a couple of days ago and i don't
00:33:57think that played out i really genuinely believe that maloney had a big impact on that going to the
00:34:03back three yeah genuinely a day because see the thing is if you're happy with a back four and you've
00:34:07gone that most of your career to flip to a three yeah he played a three when he was himself
00:34:11when when
00:34:11they were still take the first time three big center halves and a gap one side thompson the left
00:34:16so it might have it might have gone back to embracing that sometimes as you know yourself
00:34:21sometimes it's about the players you've got available that can allow you to do that but it
00:34:25got to the point where he said well i'm hooking trusty because this league's slipping away you know
00:34:28and and you could sense you said they were tired ruffy i thought they were tense the hearts players
00:34:33i thought they started to get nervous i think when you're at one each you're at one each you're
00:34:39you're just hoping you've got individuals in there are going to put their body in the line and
00:34:44stop them creating chances but celtic started getting chances where they weren't getting the
00:34:49minute and then the mentality thing comes into it lauren shanklin ran his course you know he was
00:34:55shutting down people he was he'd last 15 minutes he'd done his bit i think psychologically you must be
00:35:02saying to yourself three minutes three minutes man surely we can hold it for three minutes yeah
00:35:07i don't know if it was attention peter i genuinely felt as if it was a dip because of the
00:35:13amount of
00:35:14pressing they've done in the first half yeah so you know you're pressing your life out and then
00:35:17all of a sudden you're kind of so much so that they get a couple injuries yeah you know people
00:35:21are going oh the hamstrings are gone because they're putting so much into it i remember you a
00:35:25couple of weeks ago and this is the key element here and i think um i think i think this
00:35:31is where
00:35:31the difference is is when you've got players who suddenly then want to go forward and go past the
00:35:36man that you know you're creating a two-on-one yep yeah because sir actually suddenly is a left
00:35:41back because past two players yeah you know um forrest goes forward better than yang could
00:35:47on the flank and then ozen breaks he gives you a little bit of pace and there's two up front
00:35:52ruffy but listen at the cold light of day i think martin and the the players and callum mcgregor and
00:35:57everybody's got the right to have a little i mean i noticed the players were out and they were
00:36:01you know they were out with the the social media with their hand over the the head and
00:36:04neverland everybody's got the right to to wallow in it they deserve great credit for it for hearts
00:36:10i think they can go back and say what a season they gave us what a season where we were
00:36:15incredible
00:36:15i mean i predicted hearts from january would win the league i did see last week that i thought there's
00:36:19no way they're going into celtic park and getting a draw or a win roughly i just thought that that
00:36:23they'd blown their chance by then but you know we all were we're all over the place with a prediction
00:36:28i think i think at the beginning the beginning of every year i would say the neutral movie you know
00:36:33obviously rangers and celtic somebody always wanted somebody to split them we always wanted a
00:36:39a challenging league something that could not just for the two of them to be running away with 15 20
00:36:45points and hearts have done that you can't take it away from you last october they've done more than
00:36:49that ruffy they've not just split them they've took them right to the way and i mean as you read
00:36:54out
00:36:54there that probably the last third of the season it faltered a wee bit you know they weren't picking up
00:37:00many wins as they were early on but you can't take anything away from it yeah it's a point for
00:37:06some for a club out with rangers yeah yeah some points tally listen really consistent over the
00:37:12whole year claudio braga won scottish football writers player of the year barney stewart won
00:37:16young player but derrick mckinnis won manager of the year you know and great credit to uh martin
00:37:23neil who do you think should be the manager if it was and there's a there's so many great things
00:37:29about to happen but if it was me and i was looking and i was saying who would i like
00:37:35to see in his
00:37:37celtic manager i'm i'm afraid wait a minute hold on i'm going for jen's birth
00:37:44listen if celtic i want to be forward thinking they want to play the brand of football that a lot
00:37:50of people would like to see um i think he should be the manager if martin is off you might
00:37:56need to
00:37:57get in quickly because there's another club in for him yeah i'm not i'm not i wouldn't be surprised
00:38:01who's that wolf's birth abroad no no it's a french mob but it's a toulouse yeah sorry i know you've
00:38:06got a lot of contacts in the game and you've got your ear to the ground what are you hearing
00:38:10i'm
00:38:11just saying that i what can i tell you something come on martin i'll tell you this martin anil was
00:38:16not being considered in the last month for the job as manager martin anil was there just get us over
00:38:23the line the first time around he didn't get any kind of there was no connection to say you know
00:38:29what's happening after this noncee's in thank you very much and goodbye so when he come back in the
00:38:34second time you know you're thinking to yourself well he's got another win oh dundee united's a
00:38:39setback but then they've started to gather pace he wasn't he wasn't being considered and and i think
00:38:45i think it would be wrong not to consider him you know i'd like to if martin wants the job
00:38:49great
00:38:49give him it for two years would you not imagine sorry peter would you not imagine that the celtic
00:38:53board would already have someone in place now you know the season's done no that's no that's
00:39:01but the thing is i've had such a long time and do you imagine being at this stage and you've
00:39:06actually gone and you're humming in hand whether you're going to give it to the manager you've
00:39:09probably not considered because you've said a month ago it's not considered that was i'm saying so
00:39:16no and i i think they were just saying let's wait and see let's wait and see let's wait and
00:39:19see
00:39:20and now he's on the verge of getting a double and i said to you before tam martin anil wins
00:39:25the double
00:39:25there'll be a clamor from celtic fans to give him the job now my point on this is what's celtic's
00:39:31biggest problem apart from recruitment and the way this board has conducted itself what's their
00:39:35biggest problem the fans want to see european football and and at least some kind of credibility
00:39:43back on the european stage so if they want to be forward thinking if they want to do what
00:39:50dermot desmo was able to do to try and stop dick advocates rangers which is quite simply go for a
00:39:56manager that has got a budget can transform the squad and can bring credibility back on the european
00:40:02stage who's out there is it a robbie keen is it is it martin anil is he going to get
00:40:09a two-year deal
00:40:09you can't give him a one-year deal it doesn't work all that means is you're just shunting it down
00:40:14the
00:40:14year and down the season so i like the football jens bertha alaska who played with motherwell with
00:40:20with the limited players that he had i think if he was given a budget and given the same type
00:40:26of
00:40:26footballer that wanted to learn wanted to develop wanted to play his style i think the celtic fans
00:40:31would love it i would certainly love to see a jens bertha alaska at celtic if there's a better manager
00:40:36out there than the celtic board know about it crack on you know but that's that would be my choice
00:40:41i
00:40:41don't know about you uh from the style of play yeah i think any any supporter would want to see
00:40:47that style of a play that mother will do you know obviously you would like to think celtic would
00:40:52have better players than motherwell so that would be taking it forward i just think this board would
00:40:58look at martin anil done particularly well and going he's doing well nobody's bothering about us
00:41:03no why don't we just give him the job and and keep the success i think we'll probably look on
00:41:07that
00:41:07yeah you've got to well let's let's wait and see you know because they're not getting any hassle
00:41:12now nobody's bothering their backside with the board you know that and martin has done what he's
00:41:18done you know and obviously maloney's there and the coaches are doing well and they've already had
00:41:23their fingers burnt with the last guy so big big choice who it is they bring in celtic fans will
00:41:29not forget what's going on this year ruffy you wait till that scottish comes out of the way and
00:41:33they'll want matters addressed yeah you know but i do i agree with you i think dermot desmond's got
00:41:38three or four candidates in his mind he's probably just actually been tweaked on the thought wait a
00:41:43minute i've got to be respectful to martin anil here and what he's done i'll have the chat with
00:41:48martin and say martin where are you at are you tired do you want it for two years he says
00:41:52he wants it
00:41:53he'll give him it martin anil's unanimous choice i think for the celtic supporters as well the popular
00:41:59choice i think to a man moving in child who'd want martin anil as the manager i want him as
00:42:03a statue
00:42:03outside the now ruffy you know i think i think if he said he wants it's interesting the other one
00:42:07for you imagine you've done a poll and went like who would you want martin anil or ask you
00:42:11oh the next celtic manager i think it'd be a fascinating poll and the reason being is because
00:42:15see for what he says about bringing the style yeah you know what i like about this guy and he's
00:42:19young and all and he's got a wee bit about him so see when you hear him in press conferences
00:42:24he's not a pure motive it's like he's thoughtful he's insightful and he's also got a wee bit of
00:42:30bite about him i like this guy yeah listen um give us your thoughts on it um my apologies to
00:42:37people
00:42:37that were not reading out some of the comments because as you can imagine uh some of the comments
00:42:43a lot of the people we have on our program who come on and i'd like to thank them all
00:42:47there's a lot
00:42:48of really good uh people who come on who love football and want to call it the way they see
00:42:52it some
00:42:52people don't like what we're saying some people obviously are writing their own narrative but for
00:42:57the people who've followed us all through the year thank you so much because you're you know
00:43:01your football you like your football um and you know you like the people that we brought on board
00:43:07delighted that alex been with us as well and the journos has been well received um you know i look
00:43:13at
00:43:13some other platforms and and some other people uh i mean i it's stuck in my throat i've got to
00:43:18mention
00:43:18this by way or if it's stuck in my throat you know here's a line that that that came out
00:43:22and
00:43:22this is why it does my head and listening to other broadcasters some broadcasters who wear the colors
00:43:28of their team uh on the actual broadcast um who's had a dig at you i'll get him later um
00:43:33was uh you
00:43:34know the line that came out simon jordan's tweet what a shame for scottish football nothing exciting
00:43:41i knew about celtic winning the league everyone can go back to not caring about scottish football
00:43:46again i mean what does that tell you what does that tell you about the contempt he has for scottish
00:43:51football yeah if you don't want to talk about if you don't like it shut up shut up celtic have
00:43:56won
00:43:56the league you don't if you don't like the narrative of celtic winning the league shut up don't comment on
00:44:01the game yeah well i think i think everybody knows that not the majority of english people down in
00:44:06england don't think much about our game they don't think we're they think we're inferior you just
00:44:11have to get a scotland england game and see how much they think they're better than us but i mean
00:44:16and even when when teams are drawn together scotland teams they get club teams against english teams
00:44:21it's out there you know there's nothing we can do all we can do is try and produce the goods
00:44:26up here
00:44:27we don't want things like that happening at the weekend which obviously gives people stuff to jump
00:44:32upon but they have no knowledge they don't see scottish football they don't come up and watch it
00:44:37so i don't think they should have every right to to criticize it we're going to talk about rangers and
00:44:42we're going to talk about uh motherwell shortly um but uh here's a competition that uh sam and
00:44:48jordan might actually want to get involved in it's a chance to go and see scotland uh scotland against
00:44:53haiti scotland against morocco and then scotland brazil after that we'll throw we're throwing in
00:45:00flights yeah after three games we know we're all going back home ruffy we know where we are in

00:47:09deal
00:47:10at ruffy yeah um okay um we've talked about it congratulations to uh celtic for winning the title
00:47:17and i think uh you know great commiserations first and foremost to derrick mckinnis and the rest of the
00:47:23team they made this season absolutely fantastic for all of us um and i think the hearts fans rightly uh
00:47:29gave them a huge round of applause coming back to time castle uh they've been absolutely brilliant
00:47:34congratulations to motherwell they defeated hibbs faddinger's strike gives them european
00:47:39football how good was that ruffy i think they deserve it for what they put in this year you
00:47:43know we've been talking about i'm i'm getting away from hibbs and hearts and rangers the celtic
00:47:47the two teams for me obviously motherwell and falkett this year i think they again have been a breath
00:47:52a fresh air you know motherwell particular obviously style of play and they've been a joy to watch and
00:47:58and when you get this far you want to see somebody like that not getting a wee taste at the
00:48:03end and
00:48:04european football is fantastic again for motherwell to be back in there yeah um they've restored my
00:48:10faith in the whole game i like you know the amount of times i was at third park watching and
00:48:14i'm thinking
00:48:15this is sensational what this guy's doing with players i know i know no and i don't mean to be
00:48:22disrespectful when you say like journeyman guys that went around the block the the brand the style
00:48:27and it must be so refreshing for for motherwell fans as well because with the greatest respect
00:48:32they've probably not seen this level of playing it for the back through the lines pace
00:48:37did you had you did you know about faddinger did you know well at what had you heard of you
00:48:41i had heard i'd obviously heard the one or two of them but i did it's not as if they're
00:48:45sitting on
00:48:46your radar they're on the radar now yes they're on the radar of the big clubs uh because of what
00:48:50they've done this season and i think that will be i think i think someone mentioned something a week
00:48:56or two ago and i thought that's a really interesting point because not only has he brought a brand of
00:49:00football he has now elevated motherwell in terms of assets because the place is littered you think about
00:49:08they started a season two where they are now if you go in there and try and nick one or
00:49:12two of their
00:49:13players then obviously you'd have to pay significant fees for them and that's not something that you've
00:49:18really put at motherwell the odd like you know your tumbles and yeah you get higdon moving you know
00:49:25i something like that where where you look at that and you go you know that's that's a like a
00:49:29once in
00:49:29a blue moon but i think that they're littered with guys that could go for a decent door brilliant to
00:49:34watch yeah they are indeed down to ten men they controlled the game you know and if you're a hip
00:49:38supporter watching that game you're thinking well we're pretty direct we get it
00:49:43ball wide they put balls in the box motherwell just toyed with them in the first half you know
00:49:46played really really well and the brand of play they deserve to finish fourth i think they've been
00:49:51a travesty if hibbs finished above motherwell i wanted them to finish above motherwell but
00:49:55in terms of the they're chalk and cheese the way they play yeah and they mother would deserve
00:49:59really finish fourth fall cut two rangers five chermiti gets a hat trick he ends up with 15 goals
00:50:05this season yeah one of them he scored was an absolute raker well do wasn't it yeah no listen i
00:50:10think
00:50:10listen to you throughout the course of this season i've looked at this boy and without
00:50:14doubt you can clearly see qualities and traits you go oof this boy's no bad the problem you have at
00:50:20rangers is that if you don't get between like 20 and 30 goals all of a sudden people are going
00:50:24nah not
00:50:25good enough but i can actually see progression this boy's just turned 21 as well so they've obviously
00:50:30invested a lot of money in him and there's speculation he might leave this summer i would like to see
00:50:36him
00:50:36another year at least uh to see if he can add on the numbers and be more of a focal
00:50:40point in the
00:50:41middle of the goals i think a lot of these games where he's got maybe a couple of hat tricks
00:50:45and
00:50:45things i'd like to see him more prolific over a longer period scoring a lot more and then that
00:50:51would result in a lot more a return at the end of the season before i get these two guys
00:50:55to comment on
00:50:56it and i'm not going to ask for the definitive answer because i think it would be difficult in your
00:51:00position as the assistant at partick thistle um which is basically is it the right move to keep
00:51:06danny roll are you surprised that andrew cavern has come out and said he's there he's a man no i'm
00:51:12actually pleased he has backed him pier and i'll tell you the reason why is if rangers continually go
00:51:16in every six months 10 months 15 months and they constantly chop and change you will never get any
00:51:22continuity and you need to give someone that that opportunity to try and get at least a couple of
00:51:27windows because at least then you can start getting your hallmarks now just reading some
00:51:31of the comments over the last week or so about leaders and things i i think that is you know
00:51:37people throw their words out and you often hear if you guys like myself ex-players bomber brown at
00:51:41half time a couple of weeks ago against motherwell and they talk about character and personality and
00:51:46mentality and all these things i think that danny roll's identified that they're not getting the
00:51:51the the characters required i think he's identified that pretty soon when he's winning that job he's
00:51:58he's notified his boss and kavanagh that they need to bring in more quality in terms of their leadership
00:52:05quality and because the way that they have fallen off the cliff and the split is alarming and if he's
00:52:12identified that then kavanagh's obviously gone he knows exactly what we need here yeah before he has
00:52:17to go to a new manager he has to find all that out before you know you're six months eight
00:52:20months down
00:52:21the line so he's probably giving them the benefit they do here and now they have to recruit players
00:52:26but the interesting thing about it is and i think it's been a learning curve for kavanagh and that
00:52:30as well over the course of the year it's okay going and getting your tumetes and thinking go you know
00:52:34what we'll pay eight for him and we'll try and nick 20 or whatever that looks like with various players
00:52:39at a certain age but you also have to buy quality at maybe 25 26 and i think Chelsea are
00:52:45very similar in
00:52:46terms of you need that balance you look at Celtic they've got you know you've got guys like Forrest
00:52:52McGregor you know Tierney so these guys will all be a good age where they can actually lead that
00:52:58dressing room and they will be the leadership group there and they've been over the course and
00:53:02distance so they need to try and get some more leaders within the dressing room and with that in
00:53:06mind just briefly massive clear out coming well again you obviously mentioned Celtic there but
00:53:12you've got all these lone players that will all go back and then obviously there'll be players that
00:53:16don't and by the way Peter don't forget you've got Sir Fuentes i think Davis is coming back there'll be
00:53:20other lone players coming back as well so they'll be trying to ship them on so it could be really
00:53:26upheaval at Ibrox yeah in the end do you think it's a good move to back
00:53:33Danny Roe yeah um do you think he's going to win the title no no no no i don't think
00:53:38he's a man for
00:53:39rangers Peter i know people will go you've got to give him an opportunity but i i don't know i
00:53:44don't
00:53:44know i've been pretty consistent over the last three four five weeks about Steven Gerrard i've seen him
00:53:50get interviewed by Ali McCoy the other day i think uh you know if he's still in the background i
00:53:55think
00:53:55he's still lingering in the background Peter and i think if if somebody says bye we're getting 25 30
00:53:59the moment he's been they're really getting back for rangers i think he would he would want to come
00:54:03back so you still think he's in the background i thought i still think Gerrard still still in the
00:54:08background to come back to rangers in the summer possibly ruffy manager says uh it needs a changed
00:54:17or revamped squad and a pre-season that's what the Andrew Cavanaugh said yeah i remember when the
00:54:23the new manager came in right at the very beginning and correct me if i'm wrong here he says bear
00:54:29i don't know what style we want to play i don't know what kind of players i've got i don't
00:54:34know
00:54:34what formation we're going to play but he said i can tell you right now i will find out the
00:54:39players
00:54:39we want should be here and the players that shouldn't be and i think in the wee run that
00:54:44he had he's justified that amount of uh to back him you know and i think obviously he's under a
00:54:52wee bit
00:54:52of pressure that people are leaving but i think you've got to give him a chance you've got to give
00:54:56him a
00:54:56chance and the the owners have got to back him as well you know to bring in a better quality
00:55:00so
00:55:00i think his remit when he came he's just a bit done it all obviously he failed we see before
00:55:06this
00:55:06this blip we were all thinking rangers could still do it
00:55:09my we're all thinking rangers could still so he was there he was there or there
00:55:13your fans hope from from nowhere of being a transitional season he suddenly transformed
00:55:19when there was no pressure on peter there was no pressure in danny roll when they came in
00:55:23they were third bottom fourth bottom in the league then when the pressure came many big games did they
00:55:27one but you know the thing is games when it mattered they couldn't win the big games see when
00:55:31see when they come in they actually made them very resolute they were the the best defensive record
00:55:35in the league alongside motherwell for for a long period and up until about six seven eight games
00:55:39ago they've actually conceded that was another two at the weekend and uh they were averaging about
00:55:442.5 per game for about the last five or six games yeah conceded yeah so all of a sudden
00:55:48they've
00:55:49went from being the meanest defense to being wide open
00:55:54yeah i just don't think he's a man i just think in terms of winning big games he's not done
00:55:58it
00:55:58you just think he's no the man because you think it's gerard no because i just don't it's no gerard
00:56:03i don't think it's danny roll i think he's not shown that they can win big games at rangers under
00:56:08pressure the only remit for danny roll when he when he signs the players that he wants in the summer
00:56:12ruffy it's just simple second is nowhere you've got to build a team that wins the league by the way
00:56:17it's
00:56:18not a team that's got to bed in win the league he'll know that he's a manager he's he's he's
00:56:24sampled
00:56:24what it is to be with a range of supporters they want to be winners they want to win every
00:56:28game
00:56:29so that he'll get the drift by now so he needs to build on it next year i've got to
00:56:33find in a few
00:56:34things quickly um you know when we've all bought a present as players and then some of the staff
00:56:39have bought presents there you are martin that's been great you've been absolutely brilliant and then
00:56:43martin boyle says oh no bye i'm staying for another year here's your presence back it's all about
00:56:47hey brilliant brilliant for martin hey why they turn damn why why they turn them i just think
00:56:52he's he's he's form over the last two or three months has been incredible and i think i don't
00:56:58think he was going to get another contract in january but i just think he's played that well
00:57:02and they've went maybe he's got an area in them maybe he's took less money i think he was on
00:57:06big
00:57:06money maybe they've came to an agreement with his wages but i think that's i think it's a good move
00:57:10for hubs to keep them well done to kelly neil mccann brilliant fantastic yeah i seen them two weeks
00:57:15go against st murran and then obviously they've scored again a barrel load at the weekend finley
00:57:19curtis is fascinating because i think i've seen them playing against uh ludigretz the thursday
00:57:25before he ended up joining and come on up and i couldn't believe they would let him go because for
00:57:30me he always looked a threat when he came on and his current form would most certainly be chapping on
00:57:35the door uh for the for the scotland trip over to america yeah conway is not going to be going
00:57:40we're hearing so somebody's got a no is it a winger or is that another striker i hope it's another
00:57:47striker that's going to jump out from somewhere but who would everybody would everybody have a choice
00:57:52at who is the number nine the new at this moment for scotland shankland shankland in the first game
00:57:57shankland yeah and they'll probably play dice i love two games when you've got a donkey what
00:58:02what's the other boy she adams she adams she adams uh dundee three aberdeen two uh somebody pointed
00:58:10out a word of this on social media stephen presley first point at ibrox in 23 years first home victory
00:58:16against celtic in 37 years first consecutive victory at tanadise in 27 years uh first club sheet a couple
00:58:23victory at tanadise in 25 years first victory at rugby park in five years first ever victory at
00:58:28rugby park in the scottish cup first victory at pataudry in 22 years the big man's doing well
00:58:33obviously he's obviously got a good he's got a good reception
00:58:41first time beating aberdeen back to back listen they're eight he's done well brilliant great uh
00:58:46again you must get a job roughy and i don't think you've ever imagined getting a job and people don't
00:58:50like you no yeah i think it was his own fault right at the beginning you know what he came
00:58:54out
00:58:55with but that's everybody individually their own their own thing but uh no no i think his brand of
00:59:02football as well and we all know he needed 10 12 players and he got them and some of them
00:59:06have been
00:59:07very very good yeah absolutely st mirne won dundee united won it was flat as a pancake i'm sure
00:59:13craig mcleish is just looking and thinking you know get this out of the way because the battle is
00:59:18ahead against your man yeah yeah it's a big decision for him you know they play his best
00:59:22players in case any get injured i don't know if anybody did but uh let's hope when the the
00:59:27playoff comes that uh there's no celebration on the park for the thistle supporters yeah
00:59:34this is this is this episode is getting replayed you just can't come on the show if it happens
00:59:39it's unbearable you know oh man liability he's some money to die yeah absolutely what about that
00:59:44alec he's driven liability 25 fans all going done that's all right we'll get the points back
00:59:50um but anyway i don't know young stanley said that last week he says um
00:59:53i saw the interview he's here he says oh well done and he says that's an important point here
00:59:58away from home it's the playoffs mate hey listen brilliant i i watched the game i thought tony
01:00:05walk made a big difference i have to say just as a wee footnote roughly before alec gives us his
01:00:10thoughts on the the playoff losing the keeper yeah i mean i'm sure alec would agree that somebody
01:00:16phoned him up and said right i want my goalie back you know before that game but he got on
01:00:21with it and
01:00:22obviously the boy didn't do the second goal in particular i think he could have done a wee bit
01:00:26better but i think that's the problem you have is peter see when you take players on loan yeah
01:00:30the other thing is we've obviously got a couple of guys who are in one from samirin who won't be
01:00:34available to us from you for the for the final playoff game so unfortunately that's just the the
01:00:41nature of the getting loan players you know they can claim them back are you underdogs oh god i
01:00:47the thing is you know you look at the you know st mirin they're obviously being a cup winners
01:00:53premier league team for a while now and um you know they're obviously the league cup winners as
01:00:57well so but listen the thing is we've we've already played them a few couple of months ago as well
01:01:02you
01:01:02know in the scottish cup which was a good game as well so listen we're all looking forward to it
01:01:06i
01:01:06think it's great i think at the start of the season if you'd have said listen you're going to get
01:01:10as far as we did that's 50 games down already mark was counting them the other day and so we've
01:01:15obviously got a couple more to contest what would it mean it'd be unbelievable okay it'd be brilliant
01:01:21peter do you know the actual thing do you know the thing is it's like the fan base has kind
01:01:26of
01:01:26grown along with us that was 8 000 i think it's the the most and i think it's a decade
01:01:31yeah you know so
01:01:32they are very much invested and we're trying to do and i'm led to believe that the stands are sold
01:01:38out
01:01:38already so it's going to be a good night on thursday as well you think you think you know a
01:01:42legend
01:01:42would maybe come back and support you guys for that who jonah don't don't you don't want me and him
01:01:46going no no no no no you used to man you used to stay away yeah you go to the
01:01:52races or something
01:01:52take him up the perth races yeah by the way can i tell you something you imagine those two went
01:02:01just invaded the pitch just to oh it's like liability yeah absolutely uh just a couple of things
01:02:06quickly before we finish then i'll give you the competition answer thank you to so many of you
01:02:10who have put on some uh really good comments about it all um we yeah and uh for those who
01:02:18are of another persuasion remember we always say what was it we said at the start not a show for
01:02:22you this is not the show for you um this is decent football fans and thank you to so many
01:02:26of you
01:02:27hit the subscribe button if you go onto our home page click the link for the lucky tiger competition
01:02:32you still get time before the draw in the 24th west ham be careful what you wish for you want
01:02:36to play the west ham way i'll tell you what the west ham way is there's no go over the
01:02:40david moise
01:02:41and now you're going to get relegated yeah there's your west yeah yeah i think look at you
01:02:47moise invited him into the balls last month get it in before the end of the talent ever
01:02:51just say something to you right and i know it's i know it's unusual right but you're going to be
01:02:57able
01:02:58to answer this right you talk about you and mark wilson you know at the end of the day when
01:03:04i when
01:03:04i'm sitting here and people think oh alec and peter great friends you know you stick by your mates
01:03:09don't you yeah you do do you know what an interesting thing about it is see that darby next year
01:03:13if they
01:03:13do go down milwall west ham is up there being one of the best oh man honestly yeah oh sam
01:03:20i'm telling
01:03:21you it is mental yes absolutely even the build up the thing the atmosphere can i just say something to
01:03:27you
01:03:27if and i'm not in any way trying to belittle what happened and and you know we need a bit
01:03:33of humor
01:03:33in our life yes but if i was a player and the milwall fans were coming on for over exuberance
01:03:37i would be
01:03:38running off the park quickly going to the toilet because when they come on see the last time at the
01:03:45old den yeah he came streaming on by the way and i'm not exaggerating right so this guy's who's ripped
01:03:50my tap right office and i was like i take it right next minute the shots are getting whipped off
01:03:54and i'm
01:03:54holding my underpants right i went back down so that was 1993 i went back down about three years
01:04:01ago to play for a a benefit a benefit game and a guy come in and says can you sign
01:04:06that i said oh it
01:04:07looks kind of like the proper strip that had all the football league badge on yeah he went that was
01:04:11the one i got ripped off you with the old den and i went you i said that was that
01:04:15man so i ended up
01:04:16signing for me he'd kept it for something like god knows about 30 25 years or whatever it was should
01:04:20you have taken him out if you'd taken no no no this guy is there oh no no no no
01:04:24right so uh stick
01:04:26by your mates uh uh griezmann says farewell lewandowski says farewell as well i did and harry
01:04:32kane wins a bundesliga roughy harry kane can we not get him what did we what did we wind up
01:04:37with
01:04:38him about 50 goals 55 56 goals i think about 50 56 goals scored wow just unbelievable banged in
01:04:44another hat trick just towards the end yeah absolutely definitely definitely he's not
01:04:49no no no no's no number nine hey the body got a service for scotland anyway josier marino
01:04:58back at real madrid brilliant um he's just he's bogged up every time you think that he's just
01:05:03going to peter away because benfica then well madrid undefeated at benfica and by the way he'll sort
01:05:09he'll sort out
01:05:10your Mbappis
01:05:11and all that
01:05:12he'll empty
01:05:12we talk about
01:05:13managers
01:05:14walking through
01:05:15a door
01:05:15can you imagine
01:05:16him walking
01:05:16through the
01:05:17Dourier
01:05:17Madrid
01:05:17oh no
01:05:18he's got it
01:05:21Phil Marston
01:05:22Benfica
01:05:23unbeaten
01:05:23all the way
01:05:23through the season
01:05:24just before we go
01:05:25the answer to the quiz
01:05:27how many trophies
01:05:28has Jose Mourinho
01:05:29won
01:05:30do you say

01:05:32Ruffey
01:05:33the knowledge

01:05:35but it's not
01:05:36for you
01:05:38it's 3
01:05:42he just won
01:05:44three trophies
01:05:45in his first time
01:05:46so yeah
01:05:47he didn't win
01:05:48the Champions League
01:05:48remember he won
01:05:49the Champions League
01:05:50with Porto
01:05:50and Inter Milan
01:05:52he won the title
01:05:56I think it was
01:05:562011-2012
01:05:57against one of
01:05:58the best
01:05:59Barcelona sides
01:06:01of all time
01:06:02so great credit
01:06:04to him for that
01:06:04getting a title
01:06:05but that was the answer
01:06:06the other thing
01:06:07I was going to say
01:06:07to you
01:06:08as we finish off
01:06:08this Ruffey
01:06:09the shows continue

01:06:42going to get it
01:06:43to work
01:06:43yeah
01:06:43the other thing
01:06:44just out of curiosity
01:06:46if you become
01:06:47a Premier League
01:06:48assistant coach
01:06:50how difficult is it
01:06:51for us to get you
01:06:52on the Monday
01:06:52an extra fiver
01:06:54we should cover it
01:06:54Peter
01:06:54yeah absolutely
01:06:55that's exactly
01:06:56you're my type of guy
01:06:57that's the type of thing
01:06:58no worries to
01:06:59Barry Hall
01:06:59if you're a seed
01:07:00a tenner
01:07:01I was about to
01:07:02push the same button
01:07:03that Bertie Hall
01:07:04pushed for Ruffy
01:07:05when he asked
01:07:06for an increase
01:07:06what did you ask
01:07:07for me Bertie Hall
01:07:08an extra fiver
01:07:09and they said
01:07:09do you know
01:07:10how many pies
01:07:11we'd have to sell
01:07:12to cover that
01:07:15I said I'm sorry
01:07:17I asked
01:07:18exactly
01:07:19anyway there's
01:07:20lots more
01:07:20competitions
01:07:21coming as well
01:07:21but lucky Tigers
01:07:23there

01:07:37in the top 50 players
01:07:38since the Premier League
01:07:40started in 1975
01:07:41you can put any player
01:07:42in or you can pick
01:07:43the best player
01:07:44and then we're going
01:07:45to pick out
01:07:46one lucky winner
01:07:47from all the entries
