00:00Well, first of all, I'd say it's a very complicated country, and it's a country that I wouldn't
00:04pretend that I understand even after as deep as I've been involved in this process from the very
00:08beginning. It's a great and proud civilization, amazing people. Obviously, I have a great Iranian
00:14American community here in the United States of America, smart people, very hardworking,
00:18and you see some of that in the negotiating team on the other side. You also see some very hardline
00:25positions in the negotiating team on the other side, and so I think you see that conflict,
00:29the fact that maybe the Iranians aren't themselves quite clear in what direction they want to go to.
00:34They also are just a fractured country, so you have the leadership of the country, there's the
00:40supreme leader, and there are a lot of officials below the supreme leader that has some influence
00:43in the negotiation. It's not sometimes totally clear what the negotiating position of the team
00:49is, and I don't know if that's sometimes bad communication, if that's bad faith. I wouldn't
00:55pretend to venture a guess there, but I will say with confidence, it's sometimes hard to figure out
01:00exactly what it is that the Iranians want to accomplish out of the negotiation.
