00:07Oh, that is sensational!
00:10That is glorious!
00:12It's Tahle Romane with a touch of fortune.
00:22Here is Mahrez.

00:27Oh, Porto with a save.
00:30Finds eternity for the Rocco.
00:32No center! No center!
00:35No center!

01:32Africa, Africa, Africa.
01:35What a time to be alive, what a place to call home, and what a moment to take for African
01:42football, which is shining brighter than ever imagined.
01:46Distinguished guests, ah, CAF leadership, representatives of our member associations, partners, and of course, football fans from across Africa and
01:56indeed across the entire world.
01:59Good afternoon and welcome to Cairo, Egypt, the home of African football.
02:05Now, on behalf of the Confederation of African football, it is my admittedly absolute pleasure to welcome you to the
02:15official draw of the Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
02:18It is the Pamoja 2027 qualifiers.
02:24Today?
02:25Well, today, take a deep breath because it marks a key milestone as we begin the journey towards a historic
02:32addition of AFCON.
02:34It will be hosted across three countries, Kenya, my home, Mambo Vipi wa Kenya, Inakuja Nyumbani, Tanzania, part of my
02:44home, from my mother's side, by the way, Shikamo Akubuangu, Tanzania, Hamyambo Adoguangu, and of course, Uganda, the pearl of
02:52Africa, under one powerful, powerful spirit, Pamoja.
02:59That is together as one.
03:02Now, under the leadership of the CAF president, Dr. Patrice Motsete, African football, you cannot deny, has entered a brand
03:12new era, an era of growth and of global visibility.
03:18In fact, in recent years, the Africa Cup of Nations has reached unprecedented heights.
03:24All right?
03:25Take a listen.
03:27Nearly 2 billion viewers following the AFCON back in 2023.
03:32Topped that came 2025, where we saw the recent addition in Morocco generating over 2.5 billion TV viewers and
03:446.2 billion digital interactions globally.
03:48That's not just about Africa.
03:50It's about the world.
03:52In fact, broadcast coverage now reaches over 180 countries around the entire world.
04:00Unbelievable.
04:01That means from stadiums across Africa to the screens around the world, AFCON continues and has continued and will continue
04:12to unite not only a continent, but millions across the global African diaspora.
04:21What is AFCON?
04:22What is AFCON?
04:22How is AFCON?
04:23I'll tell you what it is.
04:24It's an event, a spirit built on legacy of the icons who have shaped its history and inspired generations.
04:33In fact, today, we are honored to be joined by some of Africa's finest, finest footballers, football legends, so to
04:43speak.
04:43So, ladies and gentlemen, now it is time to welcome the stars who will be assisting us in this draw.
04:51And we will start off with the team that has finally brought attention back to itself around the world, qualifying
04:58after more than five decades to the World Cup.
05:02But they will be looking to this from the DR Congo, one of the most technically gifted players of his
05:08generation, a half Champions League winner with ever distressful to face, TP Mazembe.
05:14And a central figure when it comes to DR Congo's success in Chan back in 2009.
05:19He's known for his vision. He's known for his creativity. He's also known for his influence in continental competitions.
05:27An iconic playmaker who helped shape the identity of Congolese football.
05:32Please, Africa, help me in welcoming the one and only, Tresor Mputu!
05:44What a legend!
05:50That is, Tresor Mputu!
05:55You know we're hosting this from the land of the pharaohs, from the kings themselves, including when it comes to
06:03the Afghan.
06:04And so from Egypt, a true legend of the game, a four-time Africa Cup of Nations champion, did it
06:09in 1998, did it in 2006, did it again two years later in 2008.
06:14As if that wasn't enough, he said, I will do it one more time in 2010.
06:19He is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in African history.
06:25He holds the record as the oldest player ever to feature at the FIFA World Cup, appearing in 2018 at
06:32the age of 45.
06:34I personally believe he could still be playing if he wanted to, but he doesn't.
06:38He remains a symbol of excellence and longevity at the highest level of world football.
06:44My father called him the safest pair of hands.
06:47Africa agreed in 2006, in 2008, and 2010, giving him the best goalkeeper of the tournament when he came to
06:55Afghan.
06:56And he will be walking onto this stage.
06:58Africa, your legend, Esam El Haddiri!
07:13Oh, man, my father is envious right now.
07:16He loved this man, and I've just shaken his hands, so I might not be watching until I get home
07:20to shake my father's hand.
07:22Meanwhile, our attention turns from the legend of Egypt to a legend from Côte d'Ivoire, an African winner in
07:282015 and 2023.
07:31He has been absolutely consistent in terms of presence for the Elephants across multiple international campaigns.
07:40With over a decade of experience at the highest level in European football, particularly in France and England,
07:47he's built a reputation, hasn't he?
07:50What kind? Professionalism, leadership, longevity.
07:54He is a player who has contributed both on and off the pitch in one of Africa's most competitive national
08:00teams.
08:01An honor for us to welcome the one and only Max Gradel.
08:15As it comes up, I was having lunch with him, and the message from Ivorians was very simple.
08:21In fact, it was simply…
08:23No, they're just saying that I should ask the legend here.
08:28Every time they play against Avricos, they always beat us.
08:30So, as he's here in front of me, I will ask him a favor.
08:34Next time we play Egypt, please let us win.
08:38Well, we'll see how that draw takes it, and we'll be doing that in just a moment,
08:44but we cannot do that without introducing the final legend for the day from Nigeria,
08:49a key leader of the Super Eagles and one of Africa's most reliable defenders on the internet.
08:56We'll see you in the next episode.
09:14...ball through the foundation which he began in 2024, the year he got over 70 caps,
09:21but in this moment we take our caps off for a legend.
09:50Thank you very much for joining us and welcome to Cairo.
09:54And we thank you for not only giving your heart, soul, sweat and blood on the pitch, but doing it
10:00even one more time when called upon by the continent right here today to be part of this important moment.
10:06Now, before we move to the main business of the day, we would like to extend our absolute and deep,
10:12heartfelt thanks to our sponsors and partners.
10:16Oh, boy.
10:43Thank you very much for joining us and we'll see you next time.
10:45We'll see you next time.
10:46We'll see you next time.
10:49Walk That Walk begins right now.
10:51It's time for the draw itself.
10:53And in order to conduct this very important part, please join me in welcoming the CAF head of competitions, Khalid
11:00Nassar.
11:08Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.
11:12It's a great pleasure for me to be here on the occasion of the drawing of lots of the qualifiers
11:18of the Total Energy's Africa Cup of Nations Pamoja 2027.
11:44It's now the moment we are waiting for, the drawing of lots, but before we start the draw, please let's
11:50watch together.
11:51A video explaining the draw procedures.
11:54Welcome to the Total Energy's CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers draw.
12:00Before we begin, let's walk you through everything you need to know about how this draw works.
12:0648 teams have qualified for the second round of the Total Energy's AFCON 2027 qualifiers.
12:13These 48 teams will be drawn into 12 groups of 4 teams each, with each group containing 1 team from
12:20every pot.
12:22The 1st and 2nd place teams in each group will qualify for the final tournament of the Total Energy's AFCON
12:292027.
12:30In the groups containing a host association, the host is automatically qualified for the final tournament.
12:37If the host finishes 1st, the runner-up will qualify alongside them.
12:41If the host finishes 2nd, 3rd, or 4th, only the group winner will qualify with the host.
12:48To ensure a balanced and fair draw, the 48 teams are ranked across 4 pots of 12 teams each, based
12:56on their FIFA rankings.
12:58From each pot, 12 balls are drawn one by one.
13:01The draw will begin with pot 4.
13:03The first ball drawn from pot 4 goes to position A4, the second goes to position B4, and so on,
13:12all the way through to position L4.
13:14The same process is then conducted for pot 3, filling positions A3 through L3, then pot 2, filling positions A2
13:24through L2, and finally pot 1, filling positions A1 through L1.
13:29There is one important draw constraint to keep in mind.
13:33The three co-host associations cannot be placed within the same group.
13:38Following the draw for pot 3, Tanzania and Kenya will be assigned to separate groups.
13:44During the draw of pot 2, if Uganda is selected for a group that already includes Kenya or Tanzania, it
13:52will instead be placed in the subsequent group.
13:54If Uganda remains unassigned until the final group, and either Kenya or Tanzania has already been allocated to that group,
14:02Uganda will be designated to the preceding group.
14:06And that's everything you need to know before we begin.
14:09Now, let's start the draw.
14:14So, as mentioned in the video, we are going now to start the draw.
14:17The draw will distribute the 48 qualified teams into 12 groups of four teams each.
14:24In every group, two teams will qualify, the first and the runner-up of the group.
14:28But for the groups of the co-host, it will be one team in addition to the co-host.
14:34The teams are distributed into four different levels according to the latest FIFA ranking.
14:38We are going now to start with pot 4, the teams of level 4.
14:44So, let's watch together a video introducing the teams of level 4.
14:48Each team of level 4
14:49We love the team of level 5, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 3, 4, 3, 4.

36:48It's done and dusted, isn't it, boys?
36:51It's done and dusted and an opportunity now for us to look at those groups and get some thoughts from
36:57you.
36:58Start off at the far end.
36:59Mputu, groups tumejua, teams tunafahamu, team yako iku hapa, ni wapi unangalia, unafikiria, na hapa, kidogo itakua kazi.
37:12Group C.
37:14Now we are Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana.
37:17Now, is that not one of the groups of, if not the group of death?
37:22Well, according to Mputu, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, the Gambia, and Somalia will be quite the group to watch.
37:28Al-Hadri, which group, which team?
37:35I think all the teams are balanced, but my colleague is right.
37:43Group C is the most difficult because Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire are very tough teams.
37:49And the team where we have Egypt as well, I hope, as usual, that we're going to be the first
37:56of our group.
37:56Well, it's a tough group, but if you didn't notice, when the group for Egypt was chosen,
38:02there was a look on his face that made me say, pay attention to this group.
38:07That reaction was priceless.
38:09There was no reaction from you, Gradel.
38:12So, absolutely zero reaction, just a prayer for Equatorial Guinea.
38:17Instead, you got Ghana.
38:18I have one question.
38:20Why always ask?
38:21Because this group is a difficult group, you know.
38:24But we are used to it, so I believe that we do everything that we can to qualify.
38:30So, we are Avricos, and I believe in the team, so there's no problem.
38:35But this group is still a difficult one.
38:38It will be a difficult world.
38:40And one that we will have to look out for.
38:44Now to you, Ekong.
38:46Just out of curiosity, what does it take for a team to play away from home?
38:52Yes, thank you.
38:53I think it's an amazing draw.
38:56We saved the best for last with the ball.
38:59But I think playing these games away is always very difficult.
39:02We've all experienced here the qualification and the road that's needed to go to the tournament.
39:08Playing away from home, new conditions, different pitches, always a hostile environment.
39:15And as it should be, as you're playing away.
39:17And it's always very, very difficult.
39:19So, I think it's important to have consistency throughout.
39:22And the teams that find a way to win those games on the road to the tournament
39:26will be the teams that will be successful and be able to qualify.
39:29So, tough groups ahead.
39:31But also very, very exciting.
39:33And I can't wait for the tournament.
39:35Neither can we.
39:36And I want to extend my absolute gratitude to the legends here.
39:40From Trazol Mputu, who was a leading light for the DRC.
39:45From the legend himself, no need for an introduction.
39:47The safest pair of hands Africa has ever seen.
39:50Assam Al-Hadri and, of course, Max Gradel, a man who's always been on a mission
39:56alongside his Ivorian teammates, success galore.
40:00And from a defender who knew not only how to lead the back line but to score goals,
40:05the best defending scorer in Africa.
40:08Taking that title away from the late Stephen Keshe, who had four.
40:12And, of course, Libya's very own Al-Bashari, who had four back in the 80s.
40:17This man has five, and these gentlemen have led us to the draw.
40:22And, ladies and gentlemen, that brings us to the end of the official draw
40:25for the Total Energies CAF, AFCON, Pomoja 2027 qualifiers.
40:30The journey now begins across the continent as 48 nations compete for 24 places
40:36in the final tournament.
40:39We thank our legends.
40:40Oh, we thank our teams and wish them all the best.
40:43And we absolutely thank the fans across the world and, indeed, Africa.
40:48And we ask you to remember, AFCON is not just a tournament.
40:53It's where Africa meets the world, where nations unite,
40:59and where the diaspora reconnects.
41:01So how about you reconnect with us as Africa, from Cairo to Nairobi,
41:07Dar es Salaam all the way through to Kampala,
41:09and across every single corner of this globe we call home.
41:14Africa is together.
41:17Africa to Pomoja.
41:20Asante nisana to the 45 teams competing.
41:23All the best to the three host nations.
41:25Africa is coming.
41:27You better be ready.
41:28Koheria ko nana.
41:40Crazy.
41:41Of course.
41:48I'm not happy.
41:52Yes, I'm a familiar woman.
42:17I'm a familiar woman.
42:18I'm a familiar woman.
42:19I'm a familiar woman.
