00:00A lot of women these days are looking to extend their fertility by freezing their
00:03eggs. When's a good time for them to do this? It's a great question and the truth
00:06is the younger the better. The younger the egg is the more likely it is to have
00:10success and the more likely you can have that egg over the course of your
00:13reproductive lifetime. So generally we recommend in the later 20s or early 30s
00:18but you can kind of do it whenever you feel ready. The right time in your life
00:21with finances and life and all the aspects. So talk to your doctor but the
00:25younger the better. How long does a cycle actually take from start to finish?
00:28Another good question. So it generally takes about 10 to 12 days of shots,
00:32another day for a minor surgical procedure to get the eggs to come out of your body
00:36which is done under sedation, and another few days to recover. So all in about three
00:40weeks. That time is also very important that you do need to chill. There's no
00:44traveling, there's no lots of exercise. You want to give a good time for your ovaries
00:48to grow good eggs and to heal without any complications. How much does it
00:52realistically increase your chances of having kids though? It's the golden
00:56question. The honest truth is it does depend on who you are, what your goals
00:59are, and what you have. And not every egg leads to a baby. So they need to freeze,
01:04they need to thaw, fertilize with sperm, grow, and there's so many areas where an
01:09egg may not work. And so most people will take at least a double digit of number of
01:13eggs in order to have a baby. But it's important to prioritize and
01:17individualize those goals when you talk to your physician. Have more questions? Go to
