00:00U.S. President Donald Trump says he has postponed a planned attack on Iran
00:05after Tehran sent a peace proposal to Washington.
00:08In a post on Truth Social, he also said there is now a very good chance of reaching a deal
00:15to limit Iran's nuclear program.
00:17But Tehran maintains that Washington's demands to halt uranium enrichment are unrealistic
00:23and insists it will not abandon its nuclear program.
00:30We're not going to let Iran have a nuclear weapon, so I was called by these three countries
00:35plus others, and they're dealing directly with our people and, right now, Iran, and there
00:41seems to be a very good chance that they can work something out.
00:43If we can do that without bombing the hell out of them, I'd be very happy, please.
00:47According to Trump, leaders from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE urged him to hold off on
00:52striking Iran to allow negotiations with Tehran to continue.
00:56Details of Tehran's proposal sent to Washington suggest it would end fighting across the
01:02region, including in Lebanon, and calls for U.S. troops to pull back from areas near Iran,
01:08along with reparations for war damage.
01:10According to state media IRNA, the proposal also calls for sanctions to be lifted, frozen
01:16funds released, and an end to the U.S. maritime blockade.
01:20The proposals appear largely unchanged from earlier Iranian positions that Trump has already rejected.
