00:00Thus Solomon finished the house of the Lord and the king's house
00:03and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord
00:08and in his own house he prosperously effected.
00:13And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said to him,
00:17I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place to myself
00:21for a house of sacrifice.
00:23If I shut up heaven that there be no rain
00:27or if I command the locusts to devour the land
00:30or if I send pestilence among my people,
00:34if my people which are called by my name
00:37shall humble themselves and pray
00:39and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
00:44then will I hear from heaven
00:46and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
00:51Now my eyes shall be open and my ears attent
00:55through the prayer that is made in this place.
00:58For now I have chosen and sanctified this house
01:01that my name may be there forever
01:03and my eyes and my heart shall be there perpetually.
01:09And as for you, if you will walk before me
01:13as David your father walked
01:15and do according to all that I have commanded you
01:19and shall observe my statutes and my judgments,
01:23then will I establish the throne of my kingdom
01:26according to as I have covenanted with David your father,
01:31saying there shall not fail you as a man
01:35to be ruler in Israel.
01:37But if you turn away and forsake my statutes
01:40and my commandments, which I have set before you
01:44and shall go and serve other gods and worship them,
01:48then will I pluck them up from the roots
01:51out of my land, which I have given them.
01:54And this house, which I have sanctified for my name,
01:58will I cast out of my sight
02:00and will make it to be a proverb
02:03and a byword among nations.
02:06And this house, which is high,
02:08shall be an astonishment to everyone that passes by it
02:12so that he shall say,
02:15why has the Lord done thus to this land
02:18and to this house?
02:20And it shall be answered
02:21because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers,
02:26which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt
02:29and laid hold on other gods
02:31and worshiped them and serve them.
02:34Therefore has he brought all this evil upon them.
