Drones are among the items impacted by cuts in Taiwan’s annual and special defense budgets, even as the country continues to showcase its growing innovation in unmanned systems on the global stage. At a recent drone expo in the US, TaiwanPlus spoke with Li Shih-chiang to explore why drones are increasingly important for Taiwan’s defense.

00:00Could you highlight some of the key exhibits in this year's exponential?

00:45We know that Taiwan and its Democratic allies have been emphasizing the need to build a China-free drone supply

00:52But the reality is, a lot of the drone components are still heavily reliant on China.
00:57What has the Zhongshan Institute done to overcome such challenges?

01:53Will this have any major impact on the Zhongshan Institute's future armament system development?
01:59And what are your ways to respond?
