00:08airports to absorb its former routes, gates, and airport slots, according to the Wall Street Journal.
00:14Atlantic City International Airport lost about 75% of its passenger traffic when Spirit collapsed,
00:19but Breeze Airways quickly agreed to take over nearly all of the carriers' routes there.
00:24Frontier and JetBlue expanded service from airports previously served by Spirit,
00:29including Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
00:31Breeze and Allegiant said they remain selective about expansion.
00:35Discount carriers continue to face high jet fuel prices and increased competition from larger
00:40airlines. Spirit's bankruptcy proceedings are also expected to determine the future of valuable
00:45airport slots and gates in locations including LaGuardia, Newark, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale.
