00:02Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin said artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming
00:08high-level financial research and automating work previously handled by highly trained
00:14professionals. Speaking at the Stanford Leadership Forum earlier this month, Griffin said AI agents
00:20at Citadel are completing tasks in hours or days that once took teams with master's and PhD degrees
00:26weeks or months to finish. He said the shift is affecting extraordinarily high-skilled jobs
00:32and described recent advances in agentic AI as a step-change function in productivity.
00:38Griffin said the pace of AI development left him fairly depressed after seeing the technology
00:44firsthand. The comments come as the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported non-farm payrolls
00:49increased by 115,000 in April 2026, while unemployment held at 4.3%.
00:56The tech sector also recorded more than 81,000 layoffs in the first quarter of 2026
01:02as companies increased AI infrastructure spending.
